The Best Shaved Ice In Miami

"This spot specializes in dressed-up versions of cholados, a Colombian creation that straddles the line between drink and dessert. Amazonica serves their version of a traditional cholado (the paradise) with a berry puree, diced ripe mango, green apple, strawberries, pineapple, and bananas, along with the requisite drizzle of condensed milk. They also have an affogato-inspired cholado and even one featuring Miami’s favorite pairing of guava and Maria cookies with vanilla ice cream and arequipe (Colombian dulce de leche). Amazonica - Review - Buena Vista - Miami - The Infatuation

"This spot specializes in dressed-up versions of cholados, a Colombian creation that straddles the line between drink and dessert. A traditional cholado is a cup filled with crushed ice, fresh fruit, jams, purees, syrups, and condensed milk—just to name a few of the components. Amazonica serves their version of a traditional cholado, The Paradise, with a berry puree, diced ripe mango, green apple, strawberries, pineapple, and bananas, along with the requisite drizzle of condensed milk and an orchid to put behind your ear so you can look cute while you eat. They also have an affogato-inspired cholado and even one featuring Miami’s favorite pairing of guava and Maria cookies with vanilla ice cream and arequipe (AKA Colombian dulce de leche). Amazonica also features obleas, which are giant wafer sandwiches. We love the merengón, which has sliced strawberries, crushed meringue cookies, and whipped cream. Amazonica has locations in Upper Buena Vista, Aventura Mall, and Brickell. The Upper Buena Vista location has the best atmosphere, although it’s mostly outdoors, so be prepared to eat fast if it’s a hot one." - Carlos C Olaechea

The place has a great atmosphere, very nice staff, everything is clean and pleasant. But I was very disappointed because the menu said “strawberries with Belgian chocolate,” and I know what Belgian chocolate is — but what we actually got was strawberries with Nutella. It was clear that the staff in the kitchen were using Nutella. This was a big disappointment for me because, as a customer, I felt misled. I didn’t want Nutella with strawberries — I specifically wanted Belgian chocolate with strawberries for my child. These are two completely different products. That’s why I’m lowering my rating: I want the menu to state what is actually being served. I don’t eat Nutella, and neither do my kids. So I’d like to address the management: please don’t mislead your guests and don’t treat them with such disrespect. Be honest on your menu, and you won’t get negative reviews.

A Colombian gem in the heart of Miami! Amazónica at Upper Buena Vista is the perfect spot to enjoy authentic Colombian flavors in a magical setting. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with the amazing place, and charm of Colombia, reflected in every detail of the cozy decor and unique flavors. The food is absolutely amazing. Each dish captures the essence of Colombian cuisine, with fresh ingredients and that comforting homemade touch we all love. You can’t miss the tequeños and the passion of the mango chillado, it’s like a hug for your soul! And the traditional sweets and desserts? Simply divine. They’re the perfect way to spend a Sunday with a meal and leave with a smile. A must-visit for anyone looking for a true taste of Colombia in Miami! Nicole was so helpful and welcoming.

Google
Everything is great! The girls are helpful and overall I have enjoying their cholados and obleas. I did asked for a Venezuelan hog dog from Uber eats that said it comes with coleslaw, crispy onions, cheese, bacon, potato chips sticks and sauces but it's only cheese and bacon with packages of ketchup and mustard... Expensive for almost $10. I haven't tried the salty dishes but from experience I will stick with the cholados and obleas for now ...

Excellent service and delicious treats! The service from Valentina and Joanna was absolutely outstanding—friendly, attentive, and very professional. The cholaos were delicious, fresh, and perfectly balanced in flavor. Highly recommended! I’ll definitely be coming back.

A True Oasis with the Best Service! 🍓🥤 This place is absolutely spectacular, and our experience was made even better thanks to Nicole, who took care of us with such a wonderful energy. She is super helpful, always smiling, and gave us great advice to help us choose the best options. Her kindness made our visit truly special. The strawberry milkshake was an absolute delight—creamy, fresh, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the love put into making it. Plus, the location @Upperbuenavista is a true oasis. It offers a beautiful view, a relaxing vibe, and a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. And to top it all off, Saturday’s weather was perfect, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. This is a must-visit spot! Highly recommended!

Google
I’ve had smoothies on 3 separate occasions. I am not sure if it’s just me but they were all subpar. Barely any flavor or taste. They mixed up my orders on two of those occasions and last but not least they manually select the tip option without your consent (Aventura location did the same thing). I love Upper Buena Vista but this place needs to simply do better.

Google
Every day is a hot day in Miami. Whether you're coming from wynwood, going to college or seeing the sites of downtown. You have to try the choladas and all that this place has to offer. After walking through the town at peak sun hours, this hit the spot with one of the most refreshing drinks I have ever had. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Another great experience today the beautiful LAURA made me my creation best oblea ever thank you Laurita !!

Yelp
Horrible juice, too much ice and lacking flavor, expensive and 12% mandatory tip. Stay away!

Yelp
This is located in a bohemian themed and somewhat isolated corner, I LOVE IT, right by the wishing tree It was my first time trying a CHOLADO, like a Brazilian Halo Halo, Hawaiian Acai Bowl Paradise - Presentation was SPEECHLESS, fruits were so FRESH Anyways, I defintely recommend y'all stop by and grab one while you're in the area

Yelp

Yelp
I'm still thinking about Amazonica. Seriously now wherever I go I'm looking for a cholado (Colombian fruit salad/shaved ice). I'm in Tampa and found one I love love love so far - Dios Mio! This one here was grand. I got the Guava Maria. I swear all the flavors just went together and u taste it together and separately so well. This is located at a very cool spot in Miami and the vibes here or boho, artsy, local and chill. They have a few locations in Miami actually. The girl working was super nice and friendly and it was such a cool spot to visit!

Yelp
This place is a joke and a ripoff. It's located in a garden center where there is two other açaí places that unfortunately were closed during this time. The açaí was horrible it wasn't even açaí. The fruits were clearly frozen and poor quality and the price was OUTRAGEOUS. It was something like $22 for an açaí. My goodness. Do NOT come here.
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
A bit pricey for what you get, but the items are delicious. Their pan de bono is good, and they offer them frozen as a take-home option. The choladas are tasty, and they offer the right combination of flavors, whether you prefer something fruity or drizzled with condensed milk. They also have obleas that I would like to try. It's just a bit tough to justify the price when I've purchased the same item in Colombian for $1.
google avatar

Yaidyt H.

Yelp
Got a lovely package from amazónica as a gift and it was incredibly delicious. Their small but mighty pan de Bono's just melt in your mouth! So much so that I didn't even get a chance to take a picture before they were all gone. I algo got some of their mini empanadas which were tasty and filling. Their oblea was wonderful and I love the toppings.

Yelp
Patrons beware! I visited Amazonica's Buena Vista location Saturday afternoon. I placed an order and was verbally provided a grand total. When I requested a receipt (to review my order), the employee at the window said a breakdown and receipt would be provided by text or email after paying. I thought it was strange...nevertheless, the employee ran my credit card and proceeded to turn the computer screen towards for me to choose the tip. Needless to say, I checked off a % and gave a tip. I then sat down and received a receipt via text. To my surprise, they had already added an automatic 15% tip yet they never mentioned it. To add insult to injury, I unknowingly added a 2nd tip. As far as i'm concerned, this is bad business practice and quite shady. By the way, their $9.00 obleas are tasty
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
This place is a ripoff! There is not table service, yet they automatically include a service tip of 18 % and you don't have a choice. $14 for a smoothie. Two smoothies came out to $38. The smoothies used to be twice the size as well. People who work there don't speak English. So the owners are opting to pay below recommended minimum wage and put an automatic tip to compensate. Stay away.

Yelp
this place is great to kill for some sweet tooth. The parking is probably the only "issue" since it is street parking and it is sort of limited. you might find one but most of the time is kinda far. service, they are super nice and polite. they always hve good recommendations and if you are not sure they will guide you. the food. the pandebonos are a must, they are soft and semi crunchy just like they should be. awesome taste too. we had the icy woth mango viche. it is a mix of sweet and sour that i really like. i have it everytime i go there. seating, they have like 2 or 3 tables inside, what I really like about upper buena vista(the mall it is located) is that they have different seating areas and you dont have to seat on a closed area. if youbare around and want something sweet but different give it a try.

Yelp

Yelp
This place is amazing If you in the mud for an healthy alternative for ice cream this place is a number one pick, this icy drink is amazing and healthy at the same time, also the location where this place is located is central and very sophisticated, it is a most visit.

Yelp
Why isn't there more places like this! Once I saw pictures of the smoothies on yelp and knew I had to try this spot. Workers were super friendly and I got the mixed berry smoothie which is highly recommended by them. The drinks were even prettier in person. I enjoyed every aspect of the smoothie from the different fruits to the different toppings and the smoothie itself. It's perfect for a hot summer day!
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
Amazing service and the cholada was so yummy! I got the lulo, kiwi, pineapple and apple one and it was the perfect amount of tart sweet and refreshing.
google avatar

Claudia N.

Yelp
I love this place. Obleas are super loaded as you can see on the picture, they're delicious and fresh because I saw they're made as you ordered it. The typical Colombian cholado is delicious, sweet and cold, perfect for the Miami weather, I always order the Berrynella one, it brings nutella and icecream. Highly recommended place.
google avatar

Jaime L.

Yelp
I am not Colombian, so I don't have an emotional attachment to obleas. The ones at Amazonica are terribly impractical to eat. The filling quickly slides to the bottom, making it impractical to eat. In addition to slippery, the filling is also too sweet. Great instagrammable wallpaper. That's about it.

Hernan U.

Yelp

Yelp
This is the perfect spot to go to on a hot Miami day! The Cholados are not only delicious but they will literally cool you off bite after bite. What is a Cholado? A Cholado is a cross between a frozen dessert, fruit cocktail, and a drink, and derives from El Valle region of Colombia. It's tangy, sweet, creamy, crunchy, and fruity, all in one spoonful. This small little shop is tucked away in the Amazon jungle, just kidding but when you go you will know why I said that. It's actually in the new shopping center Buena Vista Miami. Amazonica lives up to its name. The walls are decorated with Amazon like wallpaper and the outside of the store you just have to see for yourself (the store fits the theme of the mini-mall). It's a small shop with only 2-3 tables but sitting outdoors is the place to be! Amazonica offers Cholados, Obleas, Pan de Bono (Colombian style bread) and an Acai Bowl. We tried two of types of Cholados; Tropicality- Base (shaved ice), Lychee, Kiwi Puree, kiwi, pineapple, green apple, mint. Guava Maria - Base (shaved ice, vanilla ice cream), Guava Puree, Maria Cookies, strawberry, guava squares, arequipe. Both were good, the Tropicality was more sour and the Guava Maria was sweeter and had a more thick consistency but both were good. I want to try the Mango next time since the girl behind the counter said it was her favorite. The fruits used are fresh not canned. One of the employees gave me complimentary Pan de Bonos and they were warm a tasty. Thank you! The Cholados are a little pricey at $8.99 and if you add a popsicle to it, it's an additional $4.00. Yes a little too much for a dessert like treat but they are big and filling enough that it can be split by two people. Not too many places making these and the area they are located in is up and coming so I see why the cost would be on the higher side. I am definitely coming back because they were good and refreshing and I loved the area and mini-mall it's located in. You can just grab a Cholado and go chill outside under a tree in the Amazon. :) They have a very small parking lot and there is street metered parking in the surrounding area.

Maria De Los Angeles C.

Yelp
estuvo delicioso, excelente servicio y lo sirve súper lindo. El lugar es muy agradabl.
google avatar

Eli G.

Yelp
Overpriced and on top of that they included 15% of Tip for a service that you have to go to the counter and take your order. That's is not right.
google avatar

Natalie D.

Yelp
Love love love this spot! Only been here once and I want to go back. The beautiful ambience surroundings of trees and and tiki huts. The service was great and the waitress was very nice. I ordered the coconut and mango smoothie/shake and it was so freaking! Literally felt like I was in paradise! It was so relaxing taking sips of it and just having that nice breeze outside. I would definitely recommend if you love fruit shakes or smoothies!
google avatar

VT H.

Yelp
We ordered the mango and the guava cholados. The mango was fine since there's a hint of tartness in the flavors. But, the guava was a bit too sweet for my taste due to the toppings and the drizzles that were added on. As for service, I understand there's a tipping jar everywhere these days. And, I know the value of tipping and certainly do wherever I can. But, this should be decided by the customer based on his/her own rating of the level of service received. Upon payment (before I even received my order), I was coerced by the employee to not only tip, but to tip an amount that she basically demanded (15% or $3). This wasn't a decision for me to make but it seemed already decided by the employee that I was going to tip and what amount that would be. In terms of service, I'm not sure what "extraordinary service" I was given either since I wasn't waited on like in a restaurant. Even though I was curious to try the other menu items they had, I don't think the forced tipping was appropriate and it is actually a turn off for me (or any customer) to return.

Yelp
Omg Their Obleas are to die for ... i had the regular one with Arequipe and it was A-M-A-I-Z-I-N-G..

Customer A.

Yelp
I have been to Amazonica twice. Once to their Buena Vista location, and once to the Brickell location. They sell Colombian snacking specialties. Not bad in taste. i have tried Obleas, which are two thin wafers with different sweet fillings inside, and shaved ices with fruit. I understand we live in a very expensive city, but even here, their prices are much too high for what they sell. The establishment automatically adds a gratuity without even asking or it being clear in your bill. This is an ILLEGAL. I find it offensive to be charged 18 or 15 percent gratuity for fast food without my consent.

Beatriz D.

Yelp
The food is creatively served in a really original way. The service was excellent, very friendly staff. The location is absolutely fabulous with great ambiance. Great place to relax and spend an afternoon with family or friends.
google avatar

Aziza I.

Yelp
I have an obsession with Guava and WOW the Guava Maria Cholada is the PERFECT dessert! First time ever visiting Amazonia, my friend has been talking about how great it is so I figured I'd see what the hypes all about. It's a cross between a fresh fruit slush on the bottom made with fresh fruit purée, topped with dolce de leche, GUAVA SQUARES!!!!, strawberries, tea cookies, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The combo of icy, creamy, fresh fruit and sweet dolce de leche blends so perfectly. I am now obsessed!
google avatar

Isabel R.

Yelp
What an incredible and delicious experience!!!!!!! The amazing flavor and the detail that was put in my order at the amazonica of aventura put a smile in my face not to mention the great service. I am definitely going back and recommend it.
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
This has tl be my favorite place for a sweet craving!! It may be a bit on the pricey side for what it is.. reason for the 4 star rating but everything else is amazing!! Favorite item on the menu the white chocolate oblea! It's a MUST!!! Another must item on the menu is the mango biche lemonade... it literally tastes like you are biting into a mango biche sooo good!! The place is super small but really cute and the plaza where it's located it's adorable so it's a good option for a little evening stroll!
google avatar

Jazmin R.

Yelp
Cute weekend spot! I tried the coconut lime cholado and the Maracuya one. I liked the coconut lime one best because it had tiny bits of while chocolate and green apple, very refreshing. The maracuya one was not that great, and the obleas are good but very overpriced. I would def go back, the presentation really is outstanding.
google avatar

Rodolfo L.

Yelp
Great spot. The shopping is really cool, hipster and original. Great place to enjoy with your couple. It is a Colombian spot with creative ice creams. I recommend this place to everybody.
google avatar

Robbin M.

Yelp
The pan de bonos were delicious but a bit overpriced for their size. The cholada's absolutely hit the spot for a hot Miami Day. It was a little overwhelmingly sweet for my taste (There is an option to add a paleta to it) but still fresh. The service was a little slow and they seem to get distracted easily.
google avatar

Wendy A.

Yelp
Such a cute and small place, and I loved it because: The location: at the beautiful Upper Buena Vista Mall The inside decoration, so pretty. Check out my pictures. Their service; they were four people working hard in this place to make sure we all get what we need. Their amazing, delicious, and so refreshing treats. We had a green cholada, which is a mix of green apples, kiwi, mango, and lychee all blended and with pieces of those fruits on top. Is so filling and tasty. We also had an oblea chocolate and marshmallow because it was the smores one. This was so good. Thank you. Estuvo buenisimo.

Yelp
Cholados are heaven and these have come to bring an amazing offer to the Miami scene. The Colombian treat with a great variety of flavors and combinations is now one of the most popular and most photographed treats in Miami. Because what's there not to love of this overload of sweet stuff? Make it a simple cholado or add all the toppings you'd like (paletas included), you're in for a treat. But a cholado and hang out in the Upper Buena Vista outdoor area. You'll feel in the middle of the rainforest for sure.
google avatar

Cristian G.

Yelp
Nice little area for a refreshing cholado. Good amount of variety of fruits and toppings. Would come back 100%.

Martina C.

Yelp
I think they are stealing from us forcing us to tip them. It depends on the person helping you, some of the women in Aventura don't charge, and some of them they do. It's not possible they charge us that amount if we even have to go to pick up our food. worst service ever.

Liliana B.

Yelp
The cholados and pandebonos are delicious the service is good. The place is little but they try to do that their best. Easy to find if you get inside to the mall for Macys (women)
google avatar

Amaranta M.

Yelp
I loved coming to this place. I don't give it 5 stars because I think they should offer coffee or tea because is the perfect place to come after lunch. I tried the salty oblea and the original oblea, the salty I didn't like abuse of the whipped cream, but the regular original oblea was amazing! Thank you guys for being so nice and friendly I definitely have to come back!
google avatar

Valentina L.

Yelp
First time trying a "Cholado". A traditional treat from Cali, Colombia. I had a coconut Lemonade flavored Cholado. @amazonica.official is located in a hidden gem in Miami. Their menu is simple and tasty!! Their ambience is tropical and happy! Good job guys!
google avatar

Junior P.

Yelp
First time trying cholados! Really cool dessert, and the fruits here are really fresh. Would like if the drinks had different sizes, mine was too big Little secret: Pan de Bono is delicious here!
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
Love love love! I had never had a cholada or an oblea before and I was impressed. I ordered the guava Maria cholada and the caramel oblea. They were both fantastic! The cholada was just a great consistency and had so many flavors that went so well together. The oblea was nice and crunchy with a delicious inside. They're also located in upper buena vista which is such a cool new shopping center full of shops and little restaurants. The atmosphere is great and it's a yummy spot.
google avatar

Daniela L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for a quick bite or snack. The obleas and cholados are so good and refreshing. The aesthetic of the location and nearby businesses are lovely, would definitely recommend! Don't forget your camera! DOG FRIENDLY!
google avatar

Johana D.

Yelp
Their obleas are really good and their granizados (slurpies) are amazingly delicious and very shareable.
google avatar

Soniliz E.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. The Potato Empanadas are mind blowing delicious. The flavors of the Merengon are just amazing and the Paradise with the fruits and Condensed Milk....I'm drooling. Hope they open another Amazonica near Dadeland.

Mani M.

Yelp
Extremely rude, slow and unfriendly service. Overpriced and on top of all the bad service they automatically charge gratuity without asking. Possibly the worst service I've had in a long time. Skip this place, there are plenty other places in the same area that offer excellent service and great food/sweet.
google avatar

Max K.

Yelp
This place is nestled in a nice ritzy urban area. The ambiance is fantastic! The menu is amazing! You'll truly enjoy the tropical drinks at this restaurant. Sit outside and enjoy the fresh air!
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
1st time customer here. We had the Paradise & Cocolima both were awesome. The Coco had granola & white chocolate that really set it off and the paradise was strawberry and banana w mango that did the trick for me. I would definitely check this spot out again.

Alfonso T.

Yelp
Overpriced and slow service on top of that they include the 15% of tip. Absolutely no worth it.
