"Âme in Bishop Arts brings a blend of Indian flavors with French cooking techniques from the mother and daughter team of chefs, Afifa and Sabrina Nayeb. This chic white tablecloth restaurant is perfect for brunch or date night. It is also home to Elephant Bar, which serves cocktails and champagne paired with shareable bar snacks including savory beet samosas, crispy calamari pakora and sweet, creamy pistachio kulfi." - Courtney E. "An elegant spot nestled within the eminently walkable Bishop Arts District , Âme is small and well appointed, with just the right amount of eclectic charm. Some of the most innovative French-Indian fusion you'll ever taste, some of the dishes on this menu are worthy of their own standalone reviews. The MVPs include the herb crusted pistachio lamb chops and the cashew chicken tikka—particularly when you order a paratha croissant on the side, to soak up the delicious, velvety tikka overflow. Don't overlook the sides either: the masala-baked eggplant in turmeric bechamel is a bona fide taste sensation. Must orders at the bar include the Mumbai Gimlet (gin, lime cordial, basil and absinthe rinse) and the feisty Massala Sour, a spicy bourbon number." - David Landsel, Diana Oates, Jonathan Thompson

"A hotly-anticipated eatery from the family behind on of Dallas’s favorite Indian restaurants is set to open next weekend. Âme, the new French-Indian eatery from mother-daughter duo Afifa and Sabrina Nayeb, is set to open in Bishop Arts on Friday, April 9. Dallasites might recognize the Nayeb family from their popular Dallas Farmers Market restaurant 8 Cloves, or from Laili, which focuses on Afghan and Turkish comfort food. Âme, which means soul in French, will feature chef Afifa’s takes on classic Indian dishes using French cooking techniques. Those dishes include masala-baked eggplant with pine nuts and turmeric bechamel, lamb vindaloo with French-style potatoes, and shrimp curry ina. spicy coconut sauce. The restaurant will also offer shareable plates like beet samosas, breads and desserts, and meats cooked in a tandoor oven. Âme will also host an impressive brunch, with creative dishes like tikka eggs Benedict and biryani fried chicken and waffles. The brunch will be enhanced by drinks from the Elephant Bar, a champagne and cocktail bar inspired by chic Parisian lounges, serving up both bubbles and French-Indian takes on classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned. Adding to that ambiance is wallpaper from legendary French designer Christian LaCroix, and a wall of antique mirrors allowing customers to see the rest of the restaurant. Âme also paid homage to the previous tenant of its address, Hattie’s, by keeping the mosaic tile floor and host stand. Reservations for next weekend’s service are currently available on Resy. Âme is located at 418 N Bishop Avenue. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sunday 5 to 9 p.m., Weekend brunch takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Brittanie Shey

Brunch on Saturday was not crowded. The restaurant was uniquely decorated and very chic. Loved loved loved the masala chicken and egg dish. I lived in India for a few years and it tasted very closed to butter chicken. Yum! My husband got the waffle and fries which he raved about. And the cocktails were very good. Highly recommend going here for brunch.

Google
The food and drinks were very good (especially the mango delice and the lamb pistachio), and Tony's service was amazing. We came in with no reservation on a busy Friday night, and even though all of their tables were taken, they offered us full service seating at the bar. They offer non-alcoholic versions of almost all of the cocktails which is great if you're not wanting to drink. Ambience was relaxed and romantic, and we will definitely be coming back.

Google
Service was really good (didn't experience what some other reviewers did). Some dishes were really delicious, some were just good, but overall we really enjoyed the spice level and quality of flavors. Cocktails were great too. Loved : Calamari, fish curry Liked: Samosas, anari chicken Would skip next time: Cauliflower, puffed naan Would try next time: Lamb appetizer, shrimp, rice dishes.

Google
Service was dismal from the moment we entered, I greeted the hostesses with more enthusiasm than she greeted us with. While we waited at the bar to be seated for our reservation, we were not served except for a glass of warm water. We were seated after 20 minutes, then waited another 15 before we were served water. Our server appeared after another 10 minutes to take our order. While we waited, we ordered the raspberry lassi mocktail. This was pretty good, with a sour flavor profile. I did however find a seed from some type of chilie pepper in my drink. The food came out reasonably quickly - we started with the lamb rolls and the chaat, both arrived at the same time. The temperatures were correct but neither dish was a hit. I wouldn't order either again. The lamb rolls were fine, but a bit unbalanced flavor wise with too much warm heat and not enough cooling raita. The chaat dish was a delicious potato cake topped with unseasoned chickpeas and covered in a scant amount of sauce, with crispy fried wonton wrappers. This particular version of a street food I usually love was disappointing. The service did not improve once the food started coming out. My water glass stayed empty until well into the next course, and when clearing and replacing our plates the silverware had fingerprints all over it. The second course unfortunately was not redeeming. We ordered the biryani, the anjani chicken, and the lamb vindaloo. The dishes were fine, but again unbalanced. The biryani was overspiced and not served with raita. The lamb was extremely tender, but I could tell it was brined because the meat was so salty, which in turn made the vindaloo too salty. The anari chicken was perfectly cooked and extremely tender, but the spice was a pretty generic tandoori flavor with pomegranate seeds sprinkled over the top. We also tried the desserts since they were highly praised in the reviews I read before we ordered. We ordered masala chai and kashmiri chai and that came out first. The cups were small but overfilled, and our server spilled a bunch into my saucer, making it a bit messy to drink. At first we were concerned that no sugar came for us to add, but once we tasted it realized we had the opposite problem and had way too much sugar. The lavender malai was delicious, and came in a very cute presentation. It seems like the issue with this restaurant is that you hope for a high end experience with interesting flavors or techniques, but end up with service, dishes, and flavors that you could easily find at much more economical restaurants. All of the food was fine, some of the techniques were even excellent. The dishes were just disappointing for a restaurant that represents itself the way Amê does - I was hoping for an experience similar to the UK's Dishoom - Indian food done with an interesting point of view, because we already have so many great Indian restaurants in and around Dallas. I really wanted to love the food here. Unfortunately, we didn't get that, and I will probably only return for a dessert and chai with less sugar.

Google
Indian food cooked with french techniques. We got the beet samosas, lamb rolls, saffron rice, cashew chicken tikka, naan puffs and pistachio kulfe. Tip: always get the naan puffs. They are 🔥. The good: The flavors were impeccable, so delicious. Food came out hot and fresh, really felt prepared as we ordered them. Great ambiance, our server (Jackie) was friendly and very informative. The bad: Ask your server about spice levels. Your server will steer you in the right direction. The spice levels can only go up, as many dishes have the spice level infused, so it is impossible to take down the spice level. My fear is that the default spice level of some of the dishes would put off some people. The 2 appetizers we got were delicious and packed with flavor, but were on the upper limit of my spice tolerance. Definitely would go again, and I want to try their brunch. The limitations of not being able to bring down the heat of the dishes is my only critique.

We had a birthday dinner here and it was amazing! We were intrigued by the idea of Indian food made with French cooking techniques. The ambiance of the restaurant is also beautiful—there’s a bar area that’s bright with a large chandelier, but the interior restaurant is more romantic with fun pops like the wallpaper. We had the Chaat for an appetizer—perfect amount of heat with pomegranate seeds for a nice garnish. Comes with aloo gobi prepared as a small patty—this impressed my husband first. The drinks were delicious—just my style, sweet but not too strong. I had the Mango Delice and husband had a Masala Sour. For our entrees: I had the cashew chicken which our server (also the host and chef/owner’s husband) said was a signature dish. I ordered it with garlic naan puffs that definitely had that French flair. My husband had the pistachio lamb chops, and it did not disappoint. The portions were large and we definitely took some home! We saved room for the lavender Malai for dessert which was the chef’s kiss! Overall, great food and ambiance. Go with an open mind and you will not be disappointed!

Google
Ame may have a solid menu but from my experience it has some growing to do. The first thing I want to say is that the cuisine is on point. I had the Chaat, shrimp curry & lavender malai. Everything tasted amazing. The second thing I'll say is that the service is professional when available. I was the first one in the restaurant and besides the odd looks I was getting from the workers I really didn't have much of a wait staff assisting me. I understand Ame is rather new but no one was stepping up to help serve their patrons. I saw the manager help a group of his friends but never thought to strike a conversation with anyone else in the vicinity. The third thing I'd like to talk about is the price. This place is extremely expensive, I almost can't believe it. The taste of the dishes may be impressive but what you get is rather small. The chaat was a great appetizer but for 16 dollars it's almost not worth it, and this was by far the best dish. For 28 dollars you can have 5 shrimp in a curry with no rice. I also was charged 36 until I asked the waitress to double check the price, taking another 15 minutes to return to my table. The malai was great, no argument on that, 11 dollars is spot on. I really hate leaving reviews like this considering how competitive the food industry is but it is what it is. I'd have a hard time returning to somewhere I felt unwelcome and undervalued as a customer.

Google
The only french touch the restaurant has got is the interior and plating of the food. The entire menu and the taste is completely Indian. The taste was not exceptional. Our waiter was very rude, everytime we asked a question he was making faces as if like such a noob people have come here. I am a vegetarian and the description of the dishes did not justify it's name, so have to ask what am I getting. I tried aloo tikki Chaat and crispy aloo Gobi, both very decent. Mango cocktail was really good. Overall, not worth the cost.

Yelp
Ame was a delightful fusion of French and Indian flavors. The highlight was the Shrimp Curry (10/10), a creamy masterpiece with perfectly cooked shrimp and a complex spice blend. The Roti and Naan were fresh and delicious, perfectly complementing the curries (9/10). While the Chicken Tikka (7/10) and Lamb Vindaloo (7/10) were good, they didn't quite reach the same heights as the other dishes. The elegant ambiance and knowledgeable server added to the positive experience. Biggest drawback was the price as it was quite pricey for the portion size. Worth the one time visit but would not be back any time soon.

Yelp
Prior to this dinner I had never experienced Indian cuisine. Ame has set the bar very high. Service was excellent. Ambiance was superior. The food was delicious and unlike anything I've ever had before- exploding with flavor. I give the Naan 6 stars. It transported me back to my mothers fried dough. Had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Afifa and Kam. If you a looking for a unique dining experience, I highly recommend Ame.

Yelp
I'm stunned that Ame doesn't have a higher overall Yelp rating. We had a phenomenal experience. IMPORTANT: This is Indian food cooked in a French style. That means that the sauces are all prepared separately from the meats, unlike traditional Indian food where the meats are often cooked in the sauce. So, it's not 100% authentic Indian food, but that's not what they're trying to do. I'd describe it as an elevated, unique take on Indian food. ALSO IMPORTANT: Our waiter was the husband of the chef-owner. When we referred to her as the chef, he always politely replied by noting that she was the "chef-owner." It was so cute...love a man who wants to make sure you're giving his wife credit for being the badass she is. But also, DALLAS, COME ON, let's support local, WOMAN-OWNED restaurants!! Especially one as incredible as Ame. I'll add that the chef-owner is a lovely Afghani woman who even brought some of our dishes to our table herself. This is the sweetest couple, and you all need to meet them and experience the magic she's creating in the kitchen. Ok, that said, on to the food/drinks. We started with cocktails: the Mumbai Gimlet is lovely and refreshing, and the Stonefruit Daisy needs a different name, because it is BOLD and SPICY and really interesting. With our entrees, we each got a glass of their cab franc, which was lovely. The wine by the glass menu is limited but thoughtfully selected. (Also, a table near us ordered a bottle of sparkling red that looked fantastic.) For appetizers, we got the chaat (spicy chickpea dish) and the lamb samosa. Do not miss out on the phenomenal sauce that comes with the samosas. Delicious!! I wish we'd had room to try the calamari, because calamari with cayenne and mango habanero chutney just sounds so interesting. I asked our waiter if the chicken tikka was a pretty standard chicken tikka dish, and I was soon embarrassed I had asked that. His description sounded so incredible that we immediately added it to our order, and my boyfriend described it as "the best chicken tikka I've ever had." I agree. Wish I'd taken a picture because it was served so beautifully, with the chicken (intact; not cubed!) sitting elegantly atop a dish of the sauce. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the flavors were just phenomenal. Lamb rogan josh was also excellent; the presentation was more standard Indian style with the meat cubed and served coated in the sauce. Although described as a dish on the spicier side, it really wasn't too spicy. The sleeper hit on the menu is the ribeye kebab. I know, I know, it doesn't look as unique or exciting as some of the other entrees, but DO NOT miss this dish. The meat has this exquisite spiced flavor -- described on the menu as "chef's spice blend," she needs to bottle and sell that magic. "Naan puffs" here are not the same as traditional naan; they're more "bready" and to me really epitomize the blend of Indian and French cooking techniques here, as do the paratha croissants. I saw one Yelp review questioning why "croissant" was part of the name of this dish. Well, it's not traditional paratha, and I'm not sure how you could miss that! The dough is clearly laminated in a traditional croissant style before being shaped into a round disk like a paratha. It is SO delicious but not as good for soaking up sauces, so just keep this in mind when ordering. I'd maybe order the paratha croissant with your appetizers and then order naan puffs with the entrees for soaking up sauce. Or get the black lentils that are topped with the paratha croissant! We obviously ordered way too much food to have any room for the amazing veggie dishes or desserts, but hopefully we'll get to try some of those next time. The ambiance here is lovely. White tablecloths and gorgeous interior design. And yeah, the food isn't cheap, but it's also this incredible, unique blend of cooking techniques resulting in phenomenal dishes that you can't get anywhere else in Dallas. So, dress up at least a little bit, and go support this incredible, WOMAN-OWNED, local business that's pushing the envelope in a way that few restaurants are in Dallas.

Yelp
Pretty good take on desi food! This place is so nicely decorated but we went on a Sunday night and there wasn't much of a vibe, but glad spots like this are starting in dallas. I would try the chicken tikka (5 stars for this!), calamari pakora, the chaat, and the paratha (not sure why they added croissant in the name...) but all these were great! Skip the beet samosa and the "naan puffs". The saffron rice was pretty good but didn't have as much flavor as I was expecting. We ended with some ras Malai - Glad that the lavender didn't overpower the true taste of the dish.

Yelp
I went with a group of 4 friends and we made reservations one day in advance. The service was very attentive but the table and seating is crowded for the four of us and we are petite and skinny people. We ordered 5 dishes for share and the table is extremely full and we had to tell the waiter to take the wine glasses and table decor away to make space for food. We got calamari as appetizer. I got Tandoori fish curry because I rarely have fish in Indian cuisine. My friends ordered cashew chicken tikka, baked eggplants and lamb vindaloo. We got naan puffs and papadam on the side. Too full for dessert and we really want to get up and take a walk in bishop art to walk off all the rich food. Overall great food and I enjoyed food adventure of those rich flavors.

Arpitha B.

Yelp
I was skeptical about how a restaurant can do indian french fusion and since its a fancy restaurant that I chose, didn't want my friends to be disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised because most of the food we ordered was amazing and I could tell the taste is fusion! So good! Drinks: order the mimosa and bloody mary. So good! Coffee is ok. Food: the chicken and waffles are a must try! The flavor of the chicken is out of the world! Chapli eggs were not good at all. The potatos and eggs are below average and the patties are too small and not that much flavor. The aloo chole is amazing too! We went for brunch so even they only had french toast as a dessert and it was so good! They added a candle since we had a birthday in our group. The flavor of the sauce in tikka benedict was great! Service: servers were great and attentive Ambience: the decor is nice and the tables are spacious! I'd love to check out the dinner menu and elephant bar.

Shoba S.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch at Ame Âme Dallas was enjoyable with its simple flavorful menu and gorgeous eclectic ambience. : Tikka Benedict French Omlette Aloo chole Masala Chai : Tikka sauce was super flavorful and delicious. The Aloo Chole was extremely tasty hitting the right spots with the right amount of spice, salt and sweet. : If you don't have eggs, the options are very limiting. More options available in the regular dinner menu. : #dallaseats

Yelp
The food is marvelous the service is exceptional. Brad and Manuel are holding down the bars. Happy hour is new from 3 to 6 maybe for the retirement crowd? Nevertheless, a delightful place and owners. Thanks for a wonderful dinner Ame.

Ken P.

Yelp
The food is awesome. The service is good but, I don't understand why the price points are so high! I could understand if they advertise that they pay a living wage and treat their employees good but in good conscious I'm not paying $60 for Biryani and Cashew Chicken. Add a couple of drinks and your at $100 price per plate, which is ridiculous in my opinion.

Yelp
Great services and great food here . Have to say the services here was excellent and the food was delicious. Came here for a birthday party in a private room wish they turn up the AC a bit . It was pretty humid inside the private room. Everything we ordered was excellent and the host was the best . Really forgot the guy's name but he was very attentive and really catered to our group. Make excellent old fashion drinks here also.

Yelp
Hearty Indian food prepared using French techniques served to you in a happening spot in Bishop arts? Yes please! Ame is everything Dallas needed in an Indian restaurant and then some. Amazing cocktail program? Check. Outstanding decor with a spot that is great for those wanting to be seen? Check. Great portion sizes for a fancy Indian place that will NOT have you grabbing a slice of pizza after? Check! We had dinner at the bar on a Friday night. Reservations are hard to come by so we took a gamble and walked in. We snagged a table in the corner which was perfect for our first indoor dining experience in over 1.5 years or so (pandemic thing got in the way.) The staff was a little slow at first by my dining partner was able to get that resolved with a quick conversation and coaching session. After that everyone was super attentive and nice. We got the chaat, lamb kabobs, and the calamari to start. All were delicious and tasty. The kabobs even had some heat that I wasn't expecting but appreciated. We also got the butter chicken and shrimp curry for entrees to share along with some roti. Full disclosure - this is legit Indian dining. I may have gotten some of the butter chicken sauce on a white shirt. The cocktails were also delicious. Sitting at the bar gives you a Birdseye view into the cocktail program. The shrimp curry was a little too rich and creamy for our tastes but it was delicious nonetheless. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for some fancy Indian dining in the DFW!

Yelp
I like the name of this restaurant especially since I know how to pronounce it. Ame definitely has potential. I made a reservation for myself and three other ladies who are foodies. We were seated promptly and off to a good start. I can see their vision of fusion between Indian and French cooking. They are fairly new and still finding their way. I think finding the right balance on the flavor profiles will be the key to being successful. The concept is very interesting. It's Indian French fusion cuisine. They are merging the two together to create a twist inspired by Indian and French. The ambiance is cute, clean and inviting. I like the space and how it's traditional, but modern chic. The staff was very friendly and I received good customer service. We were allowed to give feedback and constructive criticism. We tried many things on the menu. Let me start with the favorites. The Shrimp Curry was delicious and cooked perfectly. It had a great amount of spice and heat. The Aloo Tikki was another winner. It looked weird, but tasted amazing. The Lamb Rolls were well seasoned and yummy. The croissant was fresh, flaky and light. These were all a thumbs up. My favorite cocktail was the French 75. It didn't look like much, but it was good. You have to order it from the elephant room which is connected to the restaurant behind a green curtain. Not the bar by the hostess. The pilaf and saffron rice were mediocre. Just boring, bland food and a waste. The chicken tikka dish wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The Lamb Vindaloo needed help. It was tender, but lacked in seasoning and had no flavor. They were kind enough to remove this from the bill. The grapefruit drink was to bitter. Other reviews said it was refreshing I have to disagree. Overall I had a good experience. I was happy to support a new vision and concept. I was satisfied and it felt great to try something new. Once they find tune the dishes this spot has a good chance of more 4 star reviews in the future.

Yelp
Whether you're sitting at the front bar, in the main restaurant, or the back bar...each menu is unique and delicious. We tried just about everything on both bar menus and there wasn't a single suggestion for how to make it better. The Elephant bar in the back is often manned by a charismatic bartender named Chris. Amazing at his job! The food at Ame is delicious however it was a little disappointing. We ordered the saffron rice and it was about 1 cup of saffron rice and 2 cups of just plain basmati rice. A little overpriced considering it's not actually all saffron rice. We also were expecting more than four quarter size pieces of chicken with the cashew chicken. I understand small portions and that's fine but we didn't know this was the case when we ordered. So we had ordered to share. If we had known then we could have ordered more appropriately.

Priya S.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by the food on the brunch menu. The tikka Benedict and aloo chole were flavorful and hearty portions. The French twist was seen in the bread that resembled a cross between naan and a croissant. The have a limited drink menu with a couple alcoholic beverages. The tableware was reminiscent of your grandparents china which was a little strange given the food style and presentation. Service was awkward and clumsy. Had to ask the server to repeat himself 3 times because he was mumbling/whispering and they were slow with requests. The location is great in the walkable bishop arts district, with street parking and a nearby lot.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal, we loved everything we ordered!! Ambiance felt special for a birthday dinner too. The only drawback for the evening was the server asking (politely) for us to leave, so they could get the table ready for the next party.

Shalin V.

Yelp
Worst restaurant experience ever. We waited over 1hr to be seated in a near empty restaurant. It took forever for the staff to attend to us and when they finally did half the menu was unavailable. After placing what limited order we could they came back and said the main dishes we ordered were no longer available. We even asked for a simple bread appetizer and even that did not show. Management was unapologetic regarding our situation. They tried making excuses and blamed us for coming so late. If they didn't have anything on the menu they should have advised us before we were seated. This was a waste of our time. That too when our party of 8 was looking forward to an amazing experience.

Jenica G.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a couple friends and was very pleasantly surprised. This Indian fusion food was a breath of fresh air and I thoroughly enjoyed my tandoori chicken, eggs, and potatoes as well as my cocktail. The naan inspired bread was also tasty and something different. The ambiance was welcoming and its location in bishop arts allowed for some impromptu shopping nearby afterwards well within walking distance. Highly recommend this place for brunch and I'll need to make a point to come back for their dinner.

Bindu C.

Yelp
We had a delicious family dinner at this beautiful restaurant! The chef and owner Afifa and Kam were extremely hospitable and went above and beyond to cater to our family. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered most of the entrees on the menu and had it family style. I highly recommend it!

Roshni R.

Yelp
This restaurant sure is fancy with great decor and lighting. The shareable appetizers were pretty tasty except that the chaat was a little on the spicy side but we were told about this before placing the order. The cashew chicken and paneer tikka curry were very flavorful and yummy. The paneer in the tikka curry was deep fried and little hard to chew; hence my 4 star rating. The lavender malai was delicious. Food presentation is excellent. I would go back here for a fancy evening dinner.

Taelyr R.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick drink after a VERY long day. It was fairly empty. The space is absolutely gorgeous and quite glamorous. The bartenders were sweet but maybe a bit overly attentive (odd critique I know). The drink was pretty tasty. I'll likely be back to try the food on a day where I'm feeling a bit more social

Madeleine H.

Yelp
Beta Indian food in Dallas. If you've had Graj Mhal in Austin, this is the only thing better in Texas. It comes with a hefty price tag, but all the plates are shareable and the service is great. If you are looking for a fancy night out come give it a try. Order the Aloo Tiki (spicy), Cashew Chicken Tikka, naan puffs, and Saag Paneer. We went to elephant bar for cocktails before and it was with the reservation.

Ravi S.

Yelp
Bunch of racist servers masquerading as elitist. They denied entry to us because one of our friends (we were celebrating his birthday and had mentioned this in our reservation which we had made 8 days in advance) wasn't wearing shoes as he had issues with his foot (we all were dressed in complete formal dress). This policy was no where mentioned in the reservation. Our take: they didn't have seating available for us, as they made us wait for 15 minutes before jumping onto this absurd and weird requirement because of our color. They ruined our beautiful evening by imposing their theatrics. The staff needs serious etiquette training. Ame means soul in French, and they lack the very thing that they advertise for.

Luz Jasmine A.

Yelp
Best food, decor, service. Food, food, food!! Wow!! Art on a plate! Everything we tried was phenomenal!

Shaan D.

Yelp
Was looking for an upscale Indian experience to celebrate my grandmother's birthday, Ame seemed to check all the boxes. I do want to say that this is definitely NOT the place for traditional Indian food, and we knew that going in. We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived a bit late, but were able to quickly valet park and get seated. The restaurant was definitely smaller than I expected, and the noise level from the bar carried over into the dining area. It was a bit difficult to talk at normal levels. Our waitress, Esmeralda, was quick to greet us and was very attentive and helpful for the duration of the meal. We started with the aloo tikki and paneer salad; both very unique dishes. The aloo tikki had a great spice to it, and filled with cheese it was very tasty. The paneer salad was light and refreshing, and the side of fried roti gave it a nice crunch. We also had the virgin raspberry lassis which were okay. For dinner we got the anari chicken, shrimp curry, emerald pilaf and crispy aloo gobi. Really enjoyed the shrimp curry and emerald pilaf, although I question why it is $18 for basic rice that should be served with a curry. We did also get the paratha croissant which is a deceiving name because it's really just paratha; no complaints though, it was nice and fluffy and paired well with the shrimp curry. The aloo gobi was pretty good as well. We were really disappointed in the anari chicken, since it sounded so good with so many positive reviews. It was bland and flavorless. However, we told a manager after and she informed the chef, who had only just arrived moments earlier. The chef tasted it and agreed, so this must have been a one-off situation where the line cooks forgot some seasoning. It is clear that as a new restaurant they are still experiencing growing pains, with managers serving food as well. However, food issues should have definitely been worked out by now. It was no problem for us, but the manager was very kind to comp the chicken and delight us with free kulfi for my grandmother, which was very good. TL;DR: Ame is a great addition to Bishop Arts and fits in very well, an innovative concept that is great for drinks and appetizers, perhaps a date night, but has some things to work out on the entree side, including the prices. Would come back to give the entrees a second chance.

Nikhil A.

Yelp
The service makes up for the below mediocre food. My girlfriend and I are vegetarian and ordered the saag paneer and black daal with the naan puffs and saffron rice. The saag paneer was incredibly bland with undercooked paneer chunks that were tough to chew. The naan puffs were dry and the saffron rice was far too overpriced for its lack of flavor. It would have been fine had it not been priced as a main dish, but when you charge $16 for rice, it should be a star. The black daal with the paratha puff was the only saving grace, but still nothing to write home about. The service, however, was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and were able to walk us through the menu well. The ambiance/venue was cool, but as most tables were empty, we were a bit self conscious talking so loud. The restaurant sent a text message ahead of time attempting to enforce a smart casual dress code and no children policy, but upon entering, we were seated next to a table with an infant in lap (tough for a date night).

Yelp
Came here for Saturday brunch after reading mixed reviews and all I can say is, this place is def doing some things right and some def need work. Here's my break down: Service: The servers were all friendly and attentive making sure we always had water in our cups and made sure we enjoyed our food. We ended up sending one of the chais back for a different one and they didn't charge us for it. We got our food in a decent amount of time Eventhough the place was only 40% full, so not entirely sure how it is when it's full. We got paper menus which was kind of weird for a restaurant that prides itself on being more of an upscale restaurant. Also, I was surprised waiters weren't aware of the menu being halal or not when asked, but they check with the chef for us. I'd figure they'd be more aware of halal dietary restrictions. Ambiance: Yes, this place has some gorgeous chandeliers throughout and they use some fancy China for their dishes which are accompanied with matte golden flatware to give it a modern look and feel. The place wasn't too full so it never felt too loud. The place isn't too large, but then again none of the restaurants at bishops are that big in space except for maybe stock and barrel so it's def best for smaller groups. Food: so this is where I'm torn for this review... I really really really loved the Biryani Chicken and waffles with the mango sauce, but the French toast was sooo plain and mediocre that the experience was a bit of a letdown. Also, the pink chai was so salty that we had to send it back and get another masala chai. The masala chai was actually really good, but I had high hopes for the pink one. I think the food is where people come up with mixed reviews because some items are amazing and others are just major let downs. I wish their was consistency amongst all the dishes.

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit here for awhile and I'm glad I did. We make reservations and be ware there is a 50.00 cancelation fee after 24 hours. Once there I waited for my party at the bar. It had the best mimosa called juicebabe. Once seated we ordered more drinks and decided to try a little bit of everything on the menu and shared. We got chia pudding delicious and light. We are got the spicy lamb patties with eggs, chicken Tikka and eggs, and chicken and waffles . Everything was delicious and very flavorful. I can't wait to come back for dinner!! Try for yourself

Yelp
Food... Amazing. Interiors... Good. Service... Terrible. They need to train their young staff on how to serve customers. It leaves much to be desired. No one is going to tell you about the hot teas, so if you want some, you'll have to ask. And no one is going to come ask you how's everything going or if you need anything else once you've placed an order, so be ready to wave someone down.

Yelp
Hopeful attitude paved the way for our experience at the new Ame in bishop arts, a fusion of my two favorite styles of cooking. While French and Indian cuisine are wildly different it left me hopeful about how a much more seasoned culinary expert could bridge such opposites. Despite our enthusiasm the wind was quickly taken out of our sails by chasms of non-service. Even with reservations we weren't seated for almost 20 minutes, and worse-- sat at our table for over 18 minutes prior to a waitstaff member greeting us and offering water. The waitress was incredibly apologetic, however I feel the management and general manager (who walked past our waterless table no less than 8 times) were the real ones at fault here. The stars of the menu are the shareable appetizers, with a well spiced aloo that is a must for any traditional Indian food lovers. The rest of the menu (for us-- fish curry and chicken tikka) fell undeniably flat, lacking the comfortable warmth of Indian cuisine, or the nuanced profiles of French-- leaving us with a bland bowl of heavy cream. Cocktails fine with heavy price tags attached, but sadly the decor, branding, and ambiance failed to capture cultural fusion or plainly-- style. All in all a place that is worth skipping in leiu of top notch dining destinations neighboring all sides.

Yelp
Had been looking forward to coming here for weeks but was a bit disappointed. This is a review from an Indian girl who is also vegetarian. It's overpriced Indian(ish) food that doesn't exactly taste like Indian food. If you are craving Indian food and you are vegetarian, this place might not hit the spot. If you are looking to try out a fusion Indian spot with different flavors, you may or may not like this place. The aloo gobi was my favorite, it was saucy and crispy and the sauce was flavorful. The beet samosas are good, but honestly they just taste like regular samosas with a little bit of texture. The black daal just didn't hit the spot- the flavor was off (abd it's pretty small). The naan is basically fluffy bread rolls - good luck if you are trying to eat it with saucy dishes. The eggplant is different - it's got a béchamel sauce and pine nuts, and doesn't taste like bhaigan. Didn't love the flavor. The decor is cute. But if you are asking for $18/dish, the dishes have to be on point. And for us, they missed their mark. If I had to guess, the non-vegetarian entrées taste better than the vegetarian ones. If that's the case, I would ask this restaurant to elevate their vegetarian dishes, like well-know fusion restaurants across the US do (Rahi, Indian Accent, Junoon, etc).

Yelp
What an honor to have been able to visit Ame within a week of its opening! I initially had a reservation for 2 that I had made a couple weeks before the restaurant had even opened. A few days before the reservation, I called to bump it to 3 people - they handled that with no problem! :) We had a bit of trouble finding parking on a Tuesday evening, but we were seated immediately as we arrived a couple minutes late. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant - pastel and cool colors on the walls, some dark contours along the walls, interesting paintings hung up all around. I liked the feel of the place. We ordered cocktails - I got grapefruit rickey (grey goose, grapefruit, lime, elderflower liqueur, club soda), and I tried some of my friend's blackberry spritz. I liked my grapefruit drink - refreshing, soft taste with a hint of grapefruit. Blackberry spritz (aperol, lemon, blackberries, prosecco) was more fruity, sweet, had a cherry aftertaste (although there is no cherry in the drink, so maybe it was the aperol talking). Heads up, we were told they currently don't have ice, but our waiter said they're working on it. For appetizers, we got the aloo tikki (purple potato, goat cheese, pepita seeds) and calamari pakora (masala butter, cumin, lemon). We LOVED the aloo tikki - fried on the outside, gives that good crunchy texture; soft on the inside and goes so well with the cheese! I would get this again in a heartbeat. The calamari was a bit disappointing. I think it was a little too spicy - may have gotten a little too carried away with the Indian/French fusion. For entrees, we tried the crispy aloo gobi (vegan, gluten-free: cauliflower, sweet peppers, red marsala curry), shrimp curry (spicy coconut sauce, thai chili, ginger, grape tomato), and cashew chicken tikka (tandoor chicken, cashew cream sauce). For the shrimp curry, we got the saffron rice, and we got the naan puffs to go with the chicken tikka. The aloo gobi was very good - a bit on the spicy side, but the cauliflower + sweet pepper combination was done in just the right proportions. It had that crispy texture too, living up to its name. The shrimp curry was sweet and spicy, but for me, it tasted too sweet. The saffron rice was amazing, though! My favorite dish was the chicken tikka - loved the creamy sauce with that spicy kick but not too much! Naan puffs were super fluffy! Definitely recommend those! I will have to say, they have presentation on point. Each dish that came out was insta-worthy! Overall, we enjoyed our meal. Am I in a hurry to come back? No, to be honest. I think the dishes are done well, but would be done better in just traditional Indian or strictly French form. However, the ambiance and presentation of dishes are remarkable, and I'm glad we had the opportunity to give Ame a try early on! PS- Parking is pretty tough around Bishop Arts, even on weekdays, so be prepared to drive around for at least 10 minutes before finding a space!

Yelp
A beautifully decorated Indian fusion restaurant in Bishop Arts. It is pricey! But, the food tastes delicious. Chaat is finger licking good and has a good balance of flavors with the right amount of spice . It is not altered for American taste. It's authentic. Saag paneer is creamy . The paneer was not soft or fresh though. :( Biryani is delicious but I was disappointed when I saw the left over food had a long string of braided wool or thread . This is unacceptable in any restaurant and especially where you are paying $$$ to get good quality food and service. The least you expect is hygiene. Dessert- Malai Rabri was delicious. Definitely worth a try. Pistachio kulfi is good too. Pricey for the portion size Drinks : Bourbon old fashioned - worth it Raspberry lassi - not worth it Grey good vodka cocktail- delicious!!! Viejo old fashioned- pretty strong ( brought back memories from my past - the ones where you get drunk because you are young and stupid- lol) Price -- $65-70 per person would be average if you order one drink, one appetizer , two main course and one dessert. Overall , it's a good place but I am disappointed with the pieces of thread in the biryani .

Yelp
Went to Ame for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. I'm vegan, husband is definitely not. We ordered calamari (he ate), a Paris Spritz, an Espresso Martini, chicken tikka, crispy aloo Goobi, and a side of naan. Paris spritz: meh nothing special wouldn't order again Espresso martini: husband wished he didn't order Calamari: he really liked and loved the sauce that went with, would recommend. Chicken tikka: husband would recommend! He said it was only slightly below my homemade tikka (Mother's Day flattery or the truth- I'll let you decide for yourself) Aloo Goobi: it was good. I loved the sauce. Would recommend if you're vegan. Worth $22? No shot. Naan: very good, would recommend Service was about neutral. Which IMO when the meal is $200 it should be great. There were stains on our white tablecloth. This would be FINE for a $60 meal, but at this price point, not really acceptable. We love to eat out so finding new spots is one of our fav things. Don't mind to spend the money on a good meal. But this just wasn't worth the money in my opinion. Dallas has some better options for the price point. Which is why I'm rating it a 3 star. Glad to check it off our list, but probably won't return.

Yelp
If I could leave 0 stars I would. First, it was my friend bday so, we made a reservation and when we got there they sat us in a table that didn't fit all of us. Then the server said the power went off AFTER sitting us and serving us a bottle of champagne when the power has been off before we got there. The right thing to do was to let us know before sitting us so we can make an informed decision. He couldn't take our order because the power was out, so the kitchen was down too. I know all of this was not the server fault, however, the cherry on the top was how the manager treated us. We share our feedback with him, and instead of acknowledging they didn't manage the situation well, he proceeded to charge the full amount for the bottle, and told us to not come back. Soooo rude. Please save yourself the trouble of coming here, and choose another place where they have a decent customer service.

Yelp
I just had my wedding rehearsal dinner there tonight and the staff was truly incredible. We rented out the place months prior but the previous event manager we had been working with apparently left just a few days ago. The new manager, Bryce, and the chef moved Heaven and earth to give us the perfect experience. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, and the whole staff's ability to pivot and deliver a wonderful experience was awesome! Our guests loved every minute of it and we are so glad we chose Ame for our special day!

Yelp
I highly recommend the lamb Rogan josh, calamari pakoda and their paratha croissant. We went there on a really busy night, so unfortunately they were out of select items we wanted to try. However, the owner and chef tried to make it up for the long wait, limited menu that night and gave a discount. I loved the ambiance, would go back to try the beet samosas.

Tamara P.

Yelp
Really unique food! Love the french twist on Indian classics. We ordered the chaat, anari chicken, aloo gobi, naan puffs, paratha croissant, lavender malai - everything was good! Definitely a mix of spice levels. The lavender malai and naan puffs were my favorites. The only thing I didn't really like was the lassi- wasn't sweet and probably didn't need the gin. Would probably come again if I lived closer! The brunch menu looks just as interesting (and maybe more French).

Yelp
The décor is Ame is well done, not too much or too little with some eclectic wallpaper in some areas. Upon arriving, they will wait to seat you till the party is complete. My initial angst with the place was service. Though we were seated promptly after both of us arrived, our waiter did not tend to us for quite some time. Other tables were getting seated, greeted, and receiving their drinks even before we got greeted by our waiter, let alone received some water. Once we did get our waiter, he was very kind and polite. A little soft spoken, but I think we broke his shell a little as our time with him went on. We started with the beet samosas which were pretty good, but small in size (as compared to other samosas I have had/made). However, it was unique and definitely better than the plain pea and potato samosas found at most Indian restaurants. For our main course, we tried the lamb chops, shrimp curry, naan puffs and pilaf. The entrees were delicious. The waiter asked how spicy I would like the shrimp curry noting it was the spiciest thing on the menu. However, I told him I LOVE spicy so he said he'd make sure to tell the chef, hotter than usual (see, we broke his shell). I am glad he did that since I thought now the dish had a slight kick, granted my friend thought it was a pretty decent kick. I guess my spice level scale is a bit skewed. The naan puffs were good and fluffy, nothing mind blowing as with the pilaf. The pilaf was unique in its blend of ingredients but again, nothing to blow your mind, but good and different. As for the drink, my friend enjoyed his Malbec while I tried the Grapefruit Rickey. This drink was alright, not quite my favorite nor something I would order again. I think to each its own but to me it was a little too much bitter for my liking. The main points taken from this place was the slow start in their service. The food was good, a slight twist on typical Indian food. Presentation and ambiance of the place was great. Definitely worth the experience but not something I'd be running back to. Would I come back, of course as there are some dishes I would like to try, including their brunch. It is slightly on the expensive side so be prepared to spend some pennies here. I highly recommend making a reservation as they were fairly business on a Tuesday night. To recap - as our waiter stated, the dinner is more of Indian food with a slight French twist while their brunch is French food with slight Indian twist. This is well put (at least for dinner - will have to return for brunch to make sure this is accurate, which I am sure it is).

Yelp
Calling all foodies! Eat here! As if the food isn't enough for a 5 star review, the atmosphere and romantic design will please any critic. We shared the Paneer Salad, Masala Baked Eggplant, Cashew Tikka Chicken, and the saffron rice. My taste buds were the happiest they've been in a loooong time! Amazing flavors, elegantly combined into an amazing culinary experience. The Mango Cocktail was a tropical dream and I may have ordered more than one As if things couldn't have been any better, the service was phenomenal. Our server was Creator Jules, who provided superb guidance on the menu and impeccable service for our entire experience. We will be returning and I will always request to be in Creator Jules' section! Overall, 10/10 in my book.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant that is women owned, HOWEVER, their service is awful. This is the third time I've come and the wait is ridiculous. They also make you wait outside every time I've been there. This time, they didn't have any power and sat us instead of us letting us know and we could have gone to another place. We left and the manager show up hours later to charge a friend that bought a bottle of champagne for the group. He was rude, dismissive and told her not to come anymore. It's true that they hardly ever had a full menu.

Yelp
Speaking only through experience with their ownership and customer service, I would give them 0 stars. I made a same day reservation at 10:15am and unexpectedly had to cancel my 8:15 reservation at 6. Since it was a same day reservation, I wasn't able to cancel via Resy. I called and talked to the host asking if there was a cancellation fee and she told me there wasn't (a fee was not mentioned in the cancellation confirmation email either). 7 days later I was charged $100. I spoke with Segundo several times to get it resolved, telling me he wasn't able to do anything but that he spoke with whoever was in charge and they would "take care of it". I still never received the refund so I finally spoke to Cam (the owner's husband). After explaining the situation, and telling him 2 of his employees told me there wasn't a fee or that I'd get refunded, he proceeded to explain how "he was a lawyer" and that we should meet in the middle. Rather than a refund, he was going to offer me a dining credit. After the whole mishandled customer experience, I would never recommend dining here. It was so unprofessional and rather than just refunding my money (which I probably would have come back to spend there eventually), they lost a potential customer and anyone else I may have referred. I understand that they need to have cancellation policies in place to anticipate headcount for the night but since this was only a short window, it's doubtful that my cancellation impacted that, especially since it was just 2 people and they had plenty of open reservations. Again, unprofessional and terrible management that only cares about money rather than an customer experience

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE this place. My boyfriend made a reservation for us around the time they opened .The aesthetic is perfect for a fancy evening and the dishes are perfect to share with friends and family. I loved the Anari Chicken and the the Lavender Malai was TO DIE FOR .Shoutout to Manny (our server) and Mr. Jeremiah who both accommodated us so well. Will definitely dine in again!!

Yelp
This place speaks on two accounts to me. Ambiance and Food. This place doesn't impress me on two accounts; menu and service. And for the people who may be never had naan before, naan puffs are not naan. They are more flat bread. The indian part of the food is cooked really good but the fusion part of the food is not for me. I absolutely wish this restaurant improves on the hospitality a little bit.

Yelp
My wife & I just tried Ame for the first time for Brunch & it was a great experience all around! We started with their Mimosas made with their in-house juice blend, it was one of the freshest mimosa's I've had in Dallas. From there we couldn't decide what to choose on the menu as we wanted to try so much. We ended up doing the Chapli + Eggs & the Biryani Fried Chicken & Waffles. From the spices of the lamb patty to the breading on the chicken, each dish had so much flavor. Classic breakfasts with a twist you can't get elsewhere in Bishop Art's let alone Dallas. Make sure to stop in if you get the chance!

Amy F.

Yelp
In the top 3 best meals of all time. This place is out of this world. If I lived in Dallas would go once a month. Regularly dream of this food.

Roma B.

Yelp
New French-Indian restaurant located in Bishop Arts District! Love the decor inside, perfect for a upscale girls brunch or weekend date night. Ordered the Tikka Benedict, Biryani Chicken + Waffles, and Chapli + Eggs. Both were delicious! Huge portions and very flavorful. The chicken and waffles could have used more syrup, but the syrup had the right amount of spice. The Tikka Benedict had plenty of curry with it.

Tami K.

Yelp
Very cute atmosphere. Price is very reasonable for the aesthetic and environment. Drinks were ok. Food was great! Get the tikki benedict and the french toast at brunch!

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
this place is B O M B. We ordered the Chaat, Samosas (spicy), Chicken Tikka, Anari Chicken, Naan puffs, lamb vindaloo, Black Daal, saffron rice and a bottle of the Sancerre. This is a really refreshing edition to Bishop Arts and also a really delicious dinner option as a whole. The food was DELICIOUS and well put together. Service was great. Will be coming back to try the Elephant Room too

Priya C.

Yelp
Mediocre Indian food. Nothing inventive that makes it interesting. Just sub par Indian. Nice atmosphere and smells great. Understaffed and as a result poor service especially for the price point and desired experience. Will not return or recommend.

Matt R.

Yelp
Ame is a great restaurant with excellent ambiance. I was a little concerned when Hattie's closed however this has been a great new addition to bishop arts. The food is outstanding some of the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had. Great cocktails and deserts as well.
