"A hotly-anticipated eatery from the family behind on of Dallas’s favorite Indian restaurants is set to open next weekend. Âme, the new French-Indian eatery from mother-daughter duo Afifa and Sabrina Nayeb, is set to open in Bishop Arts on Friday, April 9. Dallasites might recognize the Nayeb family from their popular Dallas Farmers Market restaurant 8 Cloves, or from Laili, which focuses on Afghan and Turkish comfort food. Âme, which means soul in French, will feature chef Afifa’s takes on classic Indian dishes using French cooking techniques. Those dishes include masala-baked eggplant with pine nuts and turmeric bechamel, lamb vindaloo with French-style potatoes, and shrimp curry ina. spicy coconut sauce. The restaurant will also offer shareable plates like beet samosas, breads and desserts, and meats cooked in a tandoor oven. Âme will also host an impressive brunch, with creative dishes like tikka eggs Benedict and biryani fried chicken and waffles. The brunch will be enhanced by drinks from the Elephant Bar, a champagne and cocktail bar inspired by chic Parisian lounges, serving up both bubbles and French-Indian takes on classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned. Adding to that ambiance is wallpaper from legendary French designer Christian LaCroix, and a wall of antique mirrors allowing customers to see the rest of the restaurant. Âme also paid homage to the previous tenant of its address, Hattie’s, by keeping the mosaic tile floor and host stand. Reservations for next weekend’s service are currently available on Resy. Âme is located at 418 N Bishop Avenue. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sunday 5 to 9 p.m., Weekend brunch takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Brittanie Shey
