American Cut - Review - Tribeca - New York - The Infatuation

"Living in New York for almost thirteen years has messed me up. Among my many strange, city-inflicted maladies is a powerful irrational fear of of very large rooms, brought on by a decade-plus of existing exclusively in tiny spaces. There's something about having too much distance between my head and a ceiling that unsettles me. Example: I went to a Costco when I was in Dallas last year and almost lost my sh*t. Being in an airplane hangar full of socks and frozen pizza somehow just made me all too aware of my human insignificance. Aside from the existential crisis, American Cut had a similar effect on me. This Tribeca steakhouse from Marc Forgione is absolutely massive, especially by downtown Manhattan/not Texas standards. If you're ever looking for somewhere to host dinner for about 400 bankers, this is it. You can also probably book that reservation two days out. The sheer size of this place makes tables easy to come by. Even big ones. What's interesting is that even though American Cut is a frighteningly large steakhouse that is often half full of suits, we really like it. This restaurant is far more Forgione than it is Del Frisco's, and that means the food is good and inventive, even though it strays little from the standard "steaks-equal-man-food" blueprint. You will find the legendary Chili Lobster from their sister restaurant on the menu, and the sides and salads display creativity beyond creamed spinach. The service and wine list are also very good, and the room is warm and laid back. In many ways, American Cut reminds us of another favorite steak destination: Strip House. Hit it for the next time you need a big baller night out and a tomahawk chop - or just a reminder that the world is bigger than the inside of your studio apartment. Food Rundown Chili Lobster If you've been to Marc Forgione, you know this trademark dish. The lobster sits in a spicy Southeast Asian red sauce, and comes with a side of Texas toast for sopping. Skip the seafood tower and order three of these instead. Bone Marrow For the type of person that isn't satisfied just eating the cow's muscles, here's the opportunity to eat it's life essence. We're always down for some marrow, and this was as good as we hoped it would be. Carrot Glazed Carrot No idea what unnatural process causes this carrot to be glazed with itself, but it tastes pretty good, so I'm down. The real question is, how do you feel about spending $12 on it? Latkes This is the potato side you want on your table. The latkes come stacked tall, and they're salty, delicious, and a little less heavy than the other potato options. A little. Tomahawk Ribeye Chop Anyone who knows anything about meat will tell you that it's always better when cooked with the bone on. We'd love to tell you that's why we think you should order the tomahawk at American Cut, but let's be honest. It just looks awesome. It tastes good too. Crackerjack Sundae Congratulations! You made it through an entire steakhouse meal without having a stroke. Reward yourself with this glass full of popcorn ice cream. You definitely need it." - Chris Stang

Our 7 Favorite Steakhouses in NYC

"The menu doesn’t stray too far from the classics—American Cut plays into the name, offering the usual cuts you’ll see in any American steakhouse menu paired with a hip, laidback atmosphere. Expect to see New York strip, skirt steak, filet mignon, bone-in ribeye, and the ever-popular tomahawk, but the cuts that make your trip worthwhile is the porterhouse or the pastrami ribeye. The porterhouse has all the theatrics that you’d expect in New York with a flambéed tableside experience, while the pastrami ribeye is incredibly soft and is an elevated take on a iconic sandwich with a dollop of mustard included. Most of the menu is grilled and it’s not uncommon to see darker-hues on the plate, while the sides bring pops of color and really meld the vibrant flavors and overall look together. A must-have is the sunchocked spinach, it pairs well with a wide range of meat on the menu and its buttery and rich. It’ll make you excited to eat your vegetables. —Paris Wilson, commerce writer"

"This dressed-up restaurant has all the elements of an old-school Mad Men-style steakhouse: Oysters, tick; an excellent Caesar Salad, tick; crabcakes and shrimp cocktails, tick. And of course, if it's steak you’re after, this is one of the best places in town to get it, with all the classic options for dressing it up, from Bearnaise sauce to an egg on top. The private space is moodily-lit."

American Cut Steakhouse in Tribeca was an outstanding experience! The ambiance is fantastic — elegant yet comfortable, perfect for a night out. The steak was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. We started with the lobster appetizer, which was unforgettable, and the potato side was equally incredible. A special shoutout to our server, John, who was attentive, friendly, and made the evening even better. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a top-notch steakhouse experience!

American Cut delivers a bold, modern take on the classic steakhouse. The steaks are top-notch—perfectly charred on the outside, juicy inside, and packed with flavor. The signature chili lobster and Caesar salad prepared tableside add a fun, personal touch. Sides like the corn soufflé and crispy potatoes are rich and satisfying. The space feels sleek and vibrant, with great energy and a polished but comfortable vibe. Service is attentive and smooth, matching the quality of the food. A great choice for anyone who loves a lively atmosphere and perfectly cooked steak.

The service was amazing and quick, our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, the drinks were good as well. I got the beef braised short ribs which was okay, I feel like it lacked A LOT salt. My husband got steak which was very good along with crème brûlée. The dining area was unbearably cold, I probably won’t be back but it was decent experience.

We ordered the skirt steak that was cooked to perfection. Jalapeno mashed potatoes look weird, but I assure you that they are good! The cauliflower and asparagus did not disappoint. Edgar, one of the waiters, was very pleasant and happy. This is our second time at American Cut and it didn't disappoint. The fresh, hot biscuits that they serve pair really well with the silky, smooth butter. Super delicious!

I enjoyed dining here so much! My wife and I visited three years ago for my birthday and we wanted to come back so bad. I booked Valentine’s Day dinner and it didn’t disappoint. I’m amazed by the chili lobster and it tasted so yummy and flavorful. The sauce was well done with a hint of spice (Thai spice I guess?) and the cream mixed with the lobster. Another favorite is the dry aged potato. It’s so good! Porterhouse tasted great too and I appreciate the fire show. It smelled really nice. I look forward to coming back again.

I’ve been going to American Cut for a while now and while the food is amazing, the level of service is what puts this restaurant above the rest. During my latest visit, which was planned last minute, my friends and I just hung out at the bar area which is always a fun scene in itself. We were warmly greeted by Chris (the GM) and Lilly (the Hostess) when we arrived. Everything from the Shrimp Cocktail, Happy Hour Sliders, Truffle Fires, Tuna Tartot (yes, tuna tartar over a tater tot), Pastrami Ribeye and Dry Aged Potatoes were amazing. And ofcourse let’s not forget the cocktails which were made to perfection by Andres and Andrew. What made it more special were the unexpected cracker jack sundaes and piece of cake for my birthday. A very special thank you to Andres for looking after of us. American Cut is lucky to have him. Can’t wait to go back!

American Cut is excellent! The steaks are cooked perfectly and taste amazing. The fries and mashed potatoes are delicious, and the service is friendly and professional.

If you're looking for a viral dining experience, don’t miss the Adult Happy Meal; a perfectly curated combo of a Caesar salad, fries, and a martini. But be sure to arrive between opening and 7 PM to snag that deal! Beyond the buzz, what stood out most was the service. There was a small hiccup, but it was resolved swiftly and professionally. The atmosphere inside is warm, lively, and incredibly cozy, making it the perfect spot for a night out. Now, let’s talk food. The star of the show: The NY Strip Steak; absolutely phenomenal. On the flip side, the Speyside Affair wasn’t my favorite. But if you’re looking for a reason to drop in, let it be the Cracker Jack Sundae, a sweet and nostalgic treat that’s worth the trip on its own. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great food, a welcoming staff, and an ambiance that makes you want to stay awhile (as i did). I highly recommend!

Yelp
Went for dinner last night at American Cut and very much enjoyed the experience all around, a very friendly, personable and professional staff work at this restaurant. Arrived at 5 when it opened and greeted by pair of hostesses, then went to the bar for some happy hour cocktails which were very well made by the mixologist bartender. At 5:30 was the res so we told the host to come and let us know where we would be seated, and she walked us over to our table in the dining room, which is very aesthetically pleasing. The server also was very personable, talking about what is on the menu and we went in to order a Cesar Salad, Wagyu Steak, and Simmered Short Ribs in a pot. The nice touch was the signature biscuits which came out with vegetable cream cheese, very different, not a bad munch before the salad. The cesar was one that's very lemony instead of cheesy, although there was ample of both and it was well made. Now, for the Wagyu Steak, to be honest, I was not impressed. I'm well versed in NYC Steakhouses, and don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad steak, but just didn't wow me. On the other hand, The Short Ribs were incredible, must have been soaking in flavor for over 24 hours, now THAT is a must get here at American Cut. Overall, 4 stars for the establishment, very modest pricing for a NYC Tribeca Steakhouse, and the place was jumping so business hopefully is doing well.

Yelp
Restaurant Week 7/7. Short review/recommended order for RW menu- Burger. Others enjoyed the skirt steak. Ceviche was pretty good. Someone else loved the oysters. Both desserts are good. I went to this popular Tribeca steakhouse a day ago as my last Summer 2025 Restaurant Week (which I will be shortening to RW from now on) meal which was $60 for dinner which was reasonable for the portion sizes. There were of course a few add-ons as per most other steakhouse RW menus but less so compared to other places with this spot also giving a side matching the much worse Club A. However, they have less steak options than usual for RW with the only ones being a skirt steak and a filet mignon which is extra. The server we had was friendlier than usual while still being professional and the other people we saw were also very friendly. The space itself is quite large even compared to most other steakhouses with our large group taking up a rather big table in back (we apologize again that 2 didn't show.) To drink, I had the Smoking Gun for $23 with Su Casa mezcal, Laphroaig 10yr, jalapeno honey, and citrus. This was a well made cocktail with plenty of peaty and smoky flavor and was pretty worth it. Three others had the Pretty Prickly I believe judging by the color which they all appeared to enjoy. They gave us some tasty biscuits with everything spice along with some vegetable butter to munch on once we ordered which was very tasty. For my appetizer, I went with the Market Ceviche though I was tempted by the grilled oysters. Said ceviche had lime, onion, cilantro, and Saratoga chips. The fish of the day/market fish was sea bass and there was plenty of said pieces which were meaty and tasty. The chips were unique to have on the side but not necessary and I would have preferred them more incorporated into said dish. My only complaints would be that the broth could have used something outside of lime to potentially add a bit of sweetness or a bit of crunch or a bit of spiciness as it was almost too sour and this is coming from someone who doesn't mind sour food. I think possibly orange or something else would help but it was still good. Another person had the same thing and found it too sour, two people enjoyed the Wedge Salad, and someone loved the Diamond Jim Brady Oysters with no one paying $10 more for the Bacon. As my main dish, I had the AC Burger (which was ordered medium rare) which doesn't appear to be on the main menu and apparently is/was a secret menu option as well as something that used to be limited unless I'm not mistake. Said burger is apparently made from brisket, short rib and dry aged ribeye with it being topped with beer cheese and caramelized onions on a brioche bun and is served with bread and butter pickles. The patty was large and very juicy and was very beefy being similar to the one at Minetta Tavern or other spots such as Wollensky's or otherwise with a bit of funk which makes sense if it is indeed partially dry aged meat. The beer cheese worked nice while the caramelized onions added some sweetness. This is one of the few times where I feel like tomato would have actually helped as the burger was almost too rich with the B&B pickles being the only thing to help. This was excellent otherwise. Others enjoyed the skirt steak which was 10 oz like the main menu and came with chimichurri with the only complaint being that there wasn't enough of said sauce. As my side dish, I went with the French Fries which could be upgraded to truffle fries for $10 more which arrived with a generous portion. Said fries came with a secret sauce which was some type of spiced aioli which worked. The fries themselves were well salted though I prefer them a bit crispier if they're going to be the very thin variety. I tried a bit of the Creamed Spinach with fontina and smoked salt which was decent with a good amount of garlic with there also Mac and Cheese which someone got which was oddly $10 extra which was decent but not worth the upcharge. For dessert, I went with the Cheesecake with seasonal preserves which turned out to be cherry which was fine as I didn't want to have their more unique sundae. The cheesecake was standard and I was happy that it wasn't too sweet with there being a graham cracker crust in the bottom. The slice itself was not the biggest either but I honestly didn't mind as I was stuffed from the remaining dishes. The rest of the people had the mini cracker jack sundae which they all enjoyed. They also gave us some chocolate chip cookies to take home which was very nice. While there aren't as many actual steak options compared to other RW menus, the rest of food was good quality. If you don't mind paying more, I would say Delmonico's as well as a few other spots are better options if you are looking specifically for a steak as your main dish but if you don't mind having other dishes and want to have a very good burger, I would recommend this place.

Yelp
Manager Carlos is an absolute treasure! I came here for happy hour and the bartender was less than pleasant (I waited over 10 minutes to get my drink order taken and frankly I began to worry that he was resentful I was there for the reasonably priced happy hour. Unfortunately when the bald bartender finally took my order he was rather rude! ) When he finally took my order he was very dismissive and rude! For context we contrasted his treatment of us to that of the white group seated next to us who returned ALL their martinis because they were "too Britney." I have to say however, manager Carlos more than made up for the aforementioned. Carlos is a warm, welcoming knowledgeable sommelier! He turned around our night despite the snobby and dismissive bartenders. Every establishment in this city should have a Carlos! Thank you, Carlos! The hospitality industry was made for you! Carlos, we are going to be return customers!!!

Yelp
Came here as part of a group bday celebration. Aside from the nice and attentive staff, can't say I was impressed with any dish we were served. Specifically, the mashed potatoes had excessive cream, the ceaser salad app was drenched in sauce, and the most disappointing was the filet mignon which was among the most bland tasting steaks I've had in a while. The only decent-ok dish we had was the branzino. A shame, as I was excited to give this place a go.

Yelp
My friends and I had the absolute best time at American Cut! We heard about the cute "NYC Happy Meal" offer and it was absolutely stellar. Truffle fries (with special sauce) plus caesar salad plus a drink for $24 is a great deal! They were also able to accommodate a mocktail instead of a martini for me and another similar beverage for a friend of mine, which I really appreciated. Their other Happy Hour offerings (from 5:00-7:00pm) were also delish. My friend loved the crab cake sandwich and said it was very filling. I will say, the Happy Hour meal was not the *most* filling in terms of having a MEAL, but it was a lovely happy hour snack vibe. The overall restaurant is split into 3 areas: the lounge, bar, and downstairs seating. Downstairs is very upscale, but folks seated at the bar/lounge were dressed more in the realm of smart casual and chill fancy. I was a tad underdressed as I was running between things, but didn't feel too out of place. Noted for next time lol! Our server (Matthew I believe) was such a gem! The servers and hostess overall were attentive, kind, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure the best experience. We wrapped up the meal with 4 servings of the popcorn/cracker jack sundae which was to die for! It was a tad too sweet for some of us, but I loved it a lot (especially that cracker jack brittle). We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Birthday dinner for my husband was nice. We started with a dozen oysters, enjoying the east coast ones more than west. I was disappointed in the filet mignon as it was very dry and lacked flavor. Would recommend a different steak or add sauce. However the bone-in ribeye was delicious. The puree potatoes were yummy and the spinach was good. We barely put a dent into the Cracker Jack sundae, but it was tasty and pretty big. Amazing service from all staff. It is very very dark which made it feel romantic.

Yelp
I went last Saturday apx 5:15 (they open at 5) for the NYC Happy Meal and it was fairly empty. Service at the bar was prompt and friendly. The meal was solid (the truffle fries were my favorite part). I'd return!

Yelp
Beautiful, classy, delicious steakhouse on Greenwich St. The perfect ambiance for date night or even night out with the girls. Service is impeccable. We had the porterhouse steak - so much that we had to take some home. The jalapeño mashed potatoes were had a lot of kick and we loved it. Mushrooms also delicious. Ended with a yummy Cracker Jack sundae. It's pricey so you can always try to go during restaurant week if you want to try it out!
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
So the ambiance here is very nice and corporate dinner-esque. But we didn't think the food was memorable or anything to write home about. We came for Restaurant Week so got to try a bunch of their hits. On the whole, things were bland. That includes the spinach, Mac & cheese, and the burger. Here's the standouts: - The biscuits they give you for free - The pickles that come on the side of the burger - The chili lobster soup

Yelp
I took a 30 minute train ride to have a solo dinner. Walked almost a half mile from the subway. I arrived at the restaurant to a sign on the door saying they were closed all week until July 7. There was another girl on the steps furiously texting. We made eye contact and both expressed our frustration at having made plans to dine there and it was closed. There was NOTHING on their website and NOTHING on their insta saying they were closed this week. So massively frustrating that I will never visit again. Who shuts for a week and doesn't post it online anywhere?? Dislike and don't recommend. If they can't handle communicating w weeklong closure I'm afraid of how the rest of the establishment is run.

Yelp
I really liked the ambiance, and the staff were kind and attentive. The food was good (went for restaurant week). Don't think it was great. The complimentary biscuit and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are a really nice touch. Loved the biscuit, haven't had the cookie yet. Caesar salad was delicious. The filet mignon was a tiny bit salty and didn't have a ton of flavor. It wasn't quite as tender as I like but still good, took home leftovers. The asparagus and spinach were fine but also not a ton of flavor. My friend got the burger and a couple of the potato sides and seemed to enjoy all of her food. Neither of us tried the cocktails. The cheesecake was yummy and my friend liked the Cracker Jack ice cream dessert. Overall, a cute, comfortable place and the food hit the spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and ended up meeting some new friends who invited me to join them for dinner in the dining room. Happy hour oysters exceeded expectations given it's a steakhouse. Spices & Flowers cocktail was divine. The jalapeno mashed potatoes looked unappetizing but were good and very spicy. Beware! The creamed spinach was out of this world. Caesar salad great. And lastly the filet mignon was good too! Also friendly service.
google avatar

Ali S.

Yelp
Service is amazing. The restaurant is perfect for private dinners and business meetings. I recommend going to happy hour than snagging a reservation to finish your night in the main dining room. The steak desperately needs the sauce trio but wasn't memorable when compared to CUT which is nearby. i recommend ordering a variety of proteins for the table since the portions are big. My top items were the brussel sprouts and the blue cheese martini.
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
Started with the oysters and complementary biscuits everything, Oysters nicely cleaned and presented. Biscuits fine, personally don't particularly love everything spice, but still ok. Got chili lobster as a side for my steak. Fun, spicy, not a huge amount of lobster. Enjoyed the skirt steak, it's a nice change of pace for a steakhouse menu. Shared the potato puree. Sides are reasonable to smallish in size, ok to share but not huge. Side of hen of the woods was a different take on a mushroom side. Not better than more traditional varieties, just different. Service was friendly and efficient, nice place for a table mates birthday celebration. Expected overall to be wowed, but left thinking it was ok to good. Given all the upscale steakhouses in Manhattan, wouldn't rush back to this one.

Katie N.

Yelp
I went here for the NYC Happy Meal and it was good! The Caesar salad was solid, the truffle fries could have used more truffle (but the sauce was really nice), and the dirty martini was fine (I would go with gin). I followed that with the private jet which was $12 during happy hour. This was the standout for me especially for the price. After happy hour, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. The drink prices are insane for lackluster cocktails. They tried to charge us $27 for a mid Aperol spritz. Eventually they lower the price to $21, but still definitely not worth it. I would go again for the NYC Happy Meal, but would not stay for drinks after.
google avatar

Bruce S.

Yelp
I do compare all steak houses, to the best, Peter Luger's in Brooklyn. This steakhouse fails miserably. My NY cut was chewy and lacked much flavor. While rare, it was not very juicy. The shrimp cocktail was the winner and the BBQ bacon also scored. The cheesecake was ok but the mashed potatoes were only fair. Ambiance & service was fine.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal and amazing service! Loved the dark, cozy steakhouse vibe as well. The tuna crudo appetizer was incredible

Yelp
This is my go-to happy hour spot. One of the things I missed the most when I left Citi was the HH old-fashioned at American Cut. Ask Matthew, the bartender, for a table side old-fashioned if you plan to order a few. You will be in for a treat!

Ross G.

Yelp
Another great meal at American Cut. And great time at the bar as always with Matthew and Andres. Andres was ahead of the game last night and drinks were being prepped before even asking!

Yelp
Book this restaurant!!! We had an amazing dining experience. The staff from the front of the house to the servers and busser's was perfection. The cocktails were a generous pour, the cocktail sauce for the shrimp was out of the park good, the steaks were perfectly seared on the outside and medium rare in the center. Do not miss dessert! The music playlist was rockin' at just the right volume and music. The room is happy with beautiful decor. I booked through @americanexpressconcierge, as they recommended American Cut and I could not be happier! We will be back! Cheers.

Yelp
Fantastic steak dinner. Men wear a suit. Ladies don a dress. This is a special place, act accordingly. The service is impeccable. The ambiance will transport you to a chic Hollywoodesque experience. This is a reserve experience. Bring your checkbook.

Yelp
Beautiful art deco feel restaurant. The Jim Brady oysters are a must. The filet mignon was perfect. Potatoes with scallions and cheese tasty. The service is sensational. Russ our waiter He was great and one of the managers Armando fantastic. Wines by the glass delicious. Cheese cake eh.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood so we do go here often and every time I go I leave thinking it was the best dining experience. Everyone is beyond friendly and accommodating. The managers truly care about your experience and all other staff are so friendly and attentive and truly seem to care about the guest experience We were sitting at the bar this most recent time and they brought us bread - 2 rolls for 3 of us. I think they originally thought it was 2 people but 2 was fine (they are huge and so delicious). However, without even asking a few minutes later we were delivered another roll. The ambiance in the dining room and bar is great. Aside from the service the food is also amazing. You never really know at a steakhouse but the food here is always consistently great from the steak to the apps/ salads and the sides. Their happy hour menu is also top notch. The best steakhouse/restaurant !!!!

Yelp
Tribeca is one of my favorite neighborhoods in New York but I never had the chance to try American Cut ... I am literally speechless ... I loved this place from the first second I walked in till the moment we left after an amazing dinner. The hospitality is what you want to find ... we are back to basics here ... great food great hospitality and a lot of knowledge from the servers and manager. We felt so comfortable ( we were a party of 4 friends getting together for a gathering) that we asked the manager to decide what to send to the table and he didn't take advantage of that ... he was so attentive and the server was amazing. They sent us assortment of appetizers and mains and we had amazing red wine. The ambience is elegant and classic. We really loved everything. Thanks, we will be back and we will recommend the restaurant.

Elisabeth L.

Yelp
Thank you for a wonderful evening and meal! Service, food, drinks and ambiance were exceptional. We will be back! We usually go to Scarpetta but couldn't get a reservation this visit so we went with you guys. You did not disappoint! Thank you!

Yelp
Hosted a birthday dinner for a buddy of mine last night here , they were AMAZING AND VERY ACCOMMODATING. I was in the talks with them a week prior , I set this table up for 25 ppl. They were very professional with the response and the quickness of it. Deposit was paid and everything was set. Last night we all had an amazing time , our waitress LIZ was amazing and cheers to her for dealing with 25 drunk men. Steaks were on point !! Everyone's order came correct and on time. Ambiance- 10/10 Parking - Good Luck Service - Top Notch Food - 10/10 Large Groups - Yes They Carry Creekstone Steaks (inquire)

Yelp
Had the most amazing dinner here earlier this week. We arrived for our 6pm reservation and had the dining room completely to ourselves; it did slowly fill up by the time we left. The decor, ambiance and lighting was romantic and intimate. Liz our server was truly wonderful and gave us the very best recommendations on every course. We started with the smoked A5 wagyu, which was by far the highlight of this meal. It was an ounce of thinly sliced wagyu, topped with a béarnaise reduction. It was served with a piece of bread that reminded me of naan bread. You should try the meat without the bread first to fully appreciate all the flavors. The meat had a nice smokey flavor and just melts in your mouth. It's by far one of the best things I've ever eaten! We also tried theirs market ceviche which was sea bass and halibut which I also LOVED. For our entree, we had the 40oz tomahawk chop for two, which had about 30oz of deliciously marbled meat, with sides of wild mushrooms and potato purée. We added on the peppercorn and chimichurri sauces to try. We poured the peppercorn sauce into the potato purée as Liz suggested - it was incredibly delicious! When we ordered our food, we almost ordered an additional entree, but we were SO glad that we didn't because we were already so full at this point. To end the meal, we had the flourless chocolate cake with caramel ice cream, which was probably my least favorite part of the meal, but it was likely because I was already soo stuffed. Service throughout the meal was top notch. Our water glasses were always full, cocktails and wine glasses were flowing, dishes were cleared right away, and the servers (even the ones who were in training) were all very attentive and friendly. Overall the meal was amazing and we can't wait to come back again soon!

Yelp
Not great: I came with a party of 7. Biscuits were great. Crab cake was nothing spectacular. I ordered two dirty martinis; first was perfect- second came extra dirty. One of our sides (mac and cheese) never made it to the table. We reminded the server constantly. By the time it came out the entrees were finished. French fries were extremely hard and unseasoned. I have seriously had better diner fries. We ordered a porterhouse for three and a tomahawk ribeye for two. Both steaks were cooked well however not seasoned well. Porterhouse was also a bit tough. The steaks were pretty bland. I don't know if we caught them on a bad night, but for a $1200 bill the experience should be top tier and our experience was inconsistent. But It all comes down to the food...great cocktails, average steaks. At the end of the day you're paying for the zip code. It's really unfortunate but we won't be coming back. Do yourself a favor and go to Gotham Meat Club instead.

Yelp
Bad from the start to the point we got up and walked out. Ordered drinks in the bar while waiting for our table and was told they'd bring them to us. Fine. 15m later drinks still haven't shown up and bartender is helping everyone at the bar but us. Cancelled drinks and sat for dinner. Waiter was surly and obviously rushing us along while we wanted to take our time. After several $25 glasses of so-so wine, we're ready to order. He tells us they're out of filets. Why, we ask, is a steakhouse out of filets on a Saturday night? Waiter shrugs. Rather than spend $75 on a substitute steak, we pay and cab it to Brooklyn Chop House, which was awesome and had plenty of filets. Food is not bad but service is terrible at ACH and I wouldn't go there again. If you have 1,000 NYC restaurants on your bucket list, make this one 1,005. Post-note: The staff did reach out to me after reading my review and offered to make things right, so points for that.

Yelp
Above average experience, but not without some areas of improvement. I came as part of a large group and we enjoyed a corporate event in the spacious area below the main level. The bar was well stocked and the overall menu was rather strong. Generally all the appetizers we had were solid. I was especially a fan of the tuna tartare and the shrimp cocktail. The bacon appetizer was also pretty tasty. As for the main course, I opted for the NY strip. It was generally speaking well cooked and the temperature was as requested. The flavor of the steak was good, but for some reason not as tasty as I expected. It wasn't a bad steak by any means, but maybe it was just not seasoned much. Something about the flavor just felt a bit underwhelming. However, it was still by and large a good steak. Maybe next time I should consider pairing it with some kind of sauce. Our dessert was a collection of small samplers. It was all fine. Generally speaking the overall experience was good and the service was also consistently excellent.

Yelp
New York has an array of steakhouses and I had heard good things about American Cut so I was looking forward to visiting. However, the food and service were nothing to write home about. I will say that the ambiance is nice and several of the dishes are nicely presented. However, beyond that I was not particularly impressed, especially for an upscale steakhouse. The steak was only okay. The onion rings I had heard about were positively revolting and not at all crispy; we barely touched them which went ignored or purposely unnoticed by the server. Overall, the highlight was probably the appetizers or dessert.

Yelp
I had the pleasure and privilege to come here for a private corporate event. Firstly, the service was amazing and so timely. Everyone was wonderful, and continued to fill our drinks without hesitation! We first started off with multiple plates of the appetizers across the expansive (dare I say) table. Wow, could do for a lazy susan! All of the appetizers were incredible. We had the Caesar salad Tuna Tar Tot (Soy Citrus, Avocado, Over Tater Tot) - MY FAVORITE Shrimp Cocktail Grilled Bacon - this was also very notable. Delicious! For the main (don't hate me) I got the Montauk Tuna with the piperade. I'm just not a big red-meat fan, but American Cut had something for everyone, and I was so full with that entree. The sides were served similarly to the appetizers, multiple at the table for all to take - and they were all excellent. Glad they had several veggie options :) POTATO PURÉE "ROBUCHON" - they can call it any fancy name they want but I have to say - amazing mashed potatoes - THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! Heirloom carrots Brussel Sprouts We ended the night with a smattering of desserts - an assortment of cookies and tarts, which made it an excellent time to reminisce on the delicious food we enjoyed moments before. Definitely dim lighting all around in the restaurant, but if you like that ambience, definitely the vibe. Only thing I would say is being in a larger party in the private room (the large round table) makes it hard to include more than three people in the discussion. I do recommend this restaurant for a VERY special occasion, with excellent food and service.

Yelp
We are repeat customers, unfortunately our last visit was prior to covid. Below is our review with each item rated 0 to 5 stars! WELCOME RECEPTION: 5 stars Welcome lobby was a beautiful display of wine racks behind glass casing and perfect lighting. None of the bottles were dusty. The hostess was courteous and very kind. FOOD ORDER: 4 Stars -Chili Lobster: 4 stars Definitely much spicer than before but delicious -Nyc Cut Rib Eye: 5 Cooked to perfection , this is definitely the place for a great steak meal! -Bacon : 3.5 Fattier than before so less meat, the glaze used to be more sauce forward. Too much liquid smoke in the glaze now -Maitake "Hen-of-the-Woods" Mushrooms: 5 stars Soy glazed! Highly recommend! Ordered as a side, I could've had plate of them ! Bravo -Brass Knuckle Potatoes : 2 Stars Didn't taste fresh and we're lukewarm at serving. Disappointed AMBIANCE DECOR: 3 stars The decor needs to be improved. It's a cluster that has no flow in the main dining room (left of entrance) SERVICE: 5 stars A dirty plate didn't last more than 2 minutes. My water glass was always full. They were on it and the cookies as a take home dessert was the finishing touch.

Yelp
Finally got to try this steakhouse in Tribeca. Probably one of the restaurants with amazing service. We ordered appetizer, cocktails, steak entree and desserts. Ambiance was like NY steakhouse. Every dish we tried met our expectations. Servers were attentive and helpful. Also they did some fire show for our steak which was entertaining. Would come back sometime!

Yelp
Awesome! The tomahawk was delicious and all the sides. The desert taste like a piece of heaven. I love it!

Yelp
Great steaks. Great service! Every bite here was fantastic. The Hamachi Crudo to start was awesome! Fresh slices of Hamachi was definitely not what I expected see from a top notch steakhouse. Baked Oysters and Raw Oysters were excellent. The biscuits were fresh baked and paired with the butter was yum. The Tenderloin was fantastic. Charred exterior, medium rare on the inside as per request, perfectly seasoned. The sides accompanied my meal perfectly. Sorbet and ice cream ended the meal on a sweet note. The decor is definitely trendy and my rounded booth table added to my experience well. The service was impeccable as I never felt I needed anything. I don't believe there was more than 10 minutes that went by without someone from the service staff asking if everything was ok. That's pretty amazing.

Yelp
We came here for the Winter 2023 tasting menu on a cold Friday night in February. We actually accidentally made our reservation for the wrong day but the hostess was very accommodating and still squeezed us in. For $60pp and given the normal menu prices, we thought the tasting menu was a good deal. Service was good as we were constantly checked on and left very full.

Yelp
Yup, this place is real good. I come from a big steak family so I have a fair share of experience in this area. I split the filet mignon and the pastrami ribeye with my brother and we were in heaven. I was definitely hesitant about ordering the pastrami ribeye but you simply must get it. Especially in NYC - a place full of incredible cuts of steak - it truly stands out. We also ordered the ceviche, lobster Mac and cheese and flourless chocolate cake and loved each one. I tasted the popcorn ice cream on its own as well (did not order the whole sundae) and I wouldn't recommend eating it alone, I cannot speak to the sundae as a whole though. I also want to give an honorable mention to the bread they give you when you sit down, it's BOMB but be sure to save space for all the rest of the good eats! Service was good, although it got harder to get ahold of our waiter the later it got, so I suppose it could've been better. It did not overshadow the food and overall experience though. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect out of a pricey steakhouse, and I say that in the best way possible. Fancy yet cozy, exactly what I'm looking for while I down a massive steak and brownie.

Yelp
We ate at American Cut for my boyfriends birthday so it was a large group of us. The manager and all the staff was exceptional!!! The food was absolutely amazing. I was happy with how everything turned out they even gave the most beautiful dessert.

Yelp
Three stars because the staff is so attentive and nice, and some of the food was delicious while some things weren't. My family came here for thanksgiving (so it was a limited menu) and let me start off by saying their wine list is spectacular and they make by-far the best dirty martini I've had in the city. Moving on to the food- for appetizers we had the harvest salad (it was okay- the acorn squash was super undercooked but they had fresh pomegranate and that made the salad better). We also had the butternut squash soup (the pumpernickel croutons were great- but the soup was cold, I wasn't a fan). For entrees we had the Turkey (it was under seasoned- not a fan), the prime rib (it was cooked perfectly), the seared salmon (cooked to a perfect medium and the most delicious of the entrees), the filet mignon and the beef short rib, they were also good. As far as sides goes- the Brussel sprouts were AMAZING, the organic carrots were good, the mashed potatoes and the stuffing I could've lived without. For the desserts the pumpkin cheesecake was kind of dry and not as sweet, but the apple crostata was the star of the show, I can't even begin to explain how amazing that was- like, soooo good I was upset I was full and couldn't finish mine- I almost ordered one to go, that's how good it was!! All in all, this was a good meal for thanksgiving (although pricey) but it kept us all from cooking and everyone was satisfied with the holiday servings. I definitely have to come back to try their regular menu and I pray that the Apple crostata is always there because I want it- always!

Yelp
I was wary of a place called "American Cut" because America does not have the best food reputation, so the name is a bold declaration. The experience here was extremely underwhelming. First, my giant beautiful coat was not taken even though coat check existed. The wait staff hovered while not serving my friend and I and realising that they were passing by and brushing up against my beautiful coat was annoying, so I elected to bring it to coat check myself when a staff member intervened. More on that later. The restaurant week meal was underwhelming. Our order was not taken for 20+ minutes and it wasn't particularly busy. Once we placed the order, everything moved too quickly. I still had overly salty bacon on my plate when a waiter asked me if he could take my plate. The same happened when I was eating my dessert. My medium rare steak was tough as nails. My dining partner referred to it as a "bad cut of meat". It was tough and neither tender nor juicy. My masseter muscle certainly must have grown, so men, forget mewing! Just get steak here and start chewing! (I'll trademark that.) I did not finish even a quarter of it. The Robuchon potatoes accompanying my steak didn't have the pat of compound butter mixed in and it looked like a sad lump, so my lovely server did this for me at the table. He is the sole reason for 2 stars as he was very good at convincing me to eat by simply being kind. The mango cheesecake (with blueberries, why?) had an underbaked graham cracker crust. After a really disappointing meal, I was happy to get the check. I returned to coat check with the ticket I was given only to have the hostess ask me if I "received a different ticket" as she struggled to find my coat fora few minutes (she even had to close the door on us). I'm happy that I didn't need to deal with the stress of filing a police report and insurance claim for a missing coat, but to be relieved about that after dining out is telling. I think this place should refrain from participating in restaurant week if they want to put in so little effort into both the meal and the experience. I work down the street from here and frequent the Greenwich restaurants for lunch breaks and work dinners and the experience here makes it impossible for me to ever consider this place again for steak with options like Morton's even closer to me.

Yelp
good, classic new york style steakhouse with all that you'd expect from that type of restaurant. the decor is stately and dark, big wooden tables and dark booths, very steakhouse chic. the staff are friendly, but not overly so, which adds to the ambience of a new york style steakhouse. when you first enter, there's a nice little entry way, which makes it way into the bar, which has plenty of lounge seating as you wait for your party. and then into the main restaurant itself. we went during restaurant week (summer 2023) and felt that the menu had a little bit for everyone, which is always helpful when you've got a slightly larger party. i love the bread service here, those everything bagel seasoning biscuits are chef's kiss. the steak was well cooked, can't complain. the bacon appetizer had quite a lot of bbq sauce on it, a little too much for my liking. overall -- i'd recommend, but know that it's also pricey (hey it's new york! and it's a steakhouse!).

Yelp
Modern steakhouse in Tribeca. I was surprised to see how big the restaurant was and it had multiple bars. We did the restaurant week menu, which is an incredible deal. Ordered the wedge salad to start, petite filet with a side of spinach, and finished with the Cracker Jack sundae. $60 for the meal. The steak was good, but does not compare to some of the better steakhouses in Nyc. Would certainly recommend for restaurant week.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and everything was good, but not amazing. We had the following: -sea bass ceviche: this was amazing and I really recommend -Caesar salad: this was very good and didn't have anchovies which we appreciated -smoked Wagyu: the quality of the steak was amazing but it was SO salty (since it came on a salt rock and also had salt on top of it). It really took away from the quality of the meat -filet mignon: the meat was good and cooked perfectly but it had hardly any seasoning and was kind of tasteless -rib eye: again this was perfectly cooked but there was no seasoning -creamed spinach: just ok -potatoes with au jus: these were very unique but the flavor was just ok. Overall, our dinner was good but not amazing

Yelp
The food honestly wasn't that good, the bone marrow and the steak needed salt. My tableside old fashioned was watered down. We waited too long for our table even though we had reservations. The main dining room was too hot (maybe too much flambé). It's also extremely noisy in there, they need noise dampeners. The service was inconsistent, too many waiters and servers yet my glass of water was empty for a long time. The biscuits were the only good thing about the experience. It was also my birthday and we indicated it in the reservation but the restaurant didn't acknowledge it at all. Wildly disappointing for a place that's been "good" for so long.

Yelp
We went to American Cut - Tribeca last night for dinner as a belated birthday celebration. We participated in the restaurant week menu: I ordered the wedge salad, ny strip, sunchoked spinach and cheesecake. My brother ordered the: grilled bacon, ny strip, potato purée, and mini Cracker Jack sundae. We also ordered the tuna tartot as an appetizer as well as a few drinks: the life boat and perfect cut and a glass of red wine (Vietti). The good: The restaurant is very pretty. The service by the waitstaff was attentive. The grilled bacon was delicious. The tuna tartot was our favorite dish. I enjoyed my glass of wine. Everything else was okay. Just okay. Nothing to write home about. Except, the steak. The NY Strip (dry age) was horrendous. It is our tradition to try a new steakhouse for my birthday and for his birthday. At this point we've been to quite a few. The steak we had here was by far the worst we have both ever had. Both steaks arrived cold/room temperature (definitely not fresh off the grill). I tried to cut into my steak and was having such difficulty to the point that I suggested to my brother maybe my steak knife was dull. But then he experienced the same issue when trying to cut into his. Both steaks were rubbery. They were not over cooked because the middle was very red (almost too red for me even though we both ordered it 'medium'). It just seems like it was bad meat. The taste was also very off. The consistency and flavor were both not good. We both did not eat our steak and left it on the plate throughout our meal. It was extremely disappointing for a restaurant that is supposed to be a steakhouse. I would not recommend this restaurant.
