On a hot summer day exploring Harvard Square, I stopped into Amorino Gelato in Cambridge. Their menu is impressive... so many choices! I decided to go with an affogato — it was rich and totally hit the spot. The self-serve station made ordering easy, and while the prices were a bit steep, it was worth it for the treat.

Google
We got the chocolate, pistachio, and salted caramel. Pistachio tasted synthetic, the chocolate was okay but not the texture of gelato, the salted caramel was the best flavor. Overall, if you are craving a cold sweet treat and you are in this area do yourself a favor and go to the Ben & Jerry’s up the street.

Saja Mansour

Google
Tried the crepe with extra chocolate—absolutely loved it! Rich, warm, and perfectly made. I’ll definitely be back for it again (and to try their gelato next time). Also, shoutout to their coffee—surprisingly really good!

Google
While traipsing through Harvard Square, our minds were on cold. Anything cold. We spotted this gelato spot from down the street, and boy did it hit the spot. The server behind the counter was generous with samples so that we could narrow the many tempting flavors down to our two scoops. Stracciatella was our big winner. While it wasn't as creamy and just a tiny bit icy in spots, it was as cold as we needed in the midst of this summer heat. There's a decently sized and quiet seating area in the adjoining room, with bathrooms to boot.

Google
Perfect location and great ice cream always!.. they have a nice space to sit and enjoy your ice cream or else you can take your cone and wander around cambridge. Always a good idea!.. fav flavors are hazelnut, pistachio, coffee and dark chocolate. 10/10

Google
Fantastic gelato. Order on the kiosks there when you get in - you can go look at the flavors beforehand though. Beautiful flower design. Got one with a macaroon on it. Small seating area on the side. Napkins available in multiple spots.

Google
I'm absolutely obsessed with this place! My sister and I were craving a treat, so I randomly searched online for an Italian ice shop nearby. We discovered this spot, and the pistachio gelato was incredibly delicious. I also ordered a pistachio macaron, which was equally delightful. I definitely plan to visit again soon.

Google
So delicious. In the expensive side for a gelato and macaron but worth it for a special treat

Yelp
This was just alright. There was nothing special about the flavors or the service. There is some seating. Only one guy working so it takes a bit for everyone to get their gelato served. I tried the more fruity flavors. Passionfruit was tart. I did not like the orange as it tasted more like a creamsicle. The raspberry and strawberry were the better tasting flavors.

Yelp
This place is great! On a warm day you must eat it fast though. Amazing to get 4 flavors on a cone! This was a near find..i highly recommend. Great service and pretty laid back vibe inside.
google avatar

Yelp
I think the hazelnut and pistachio flavors are the best, but both my friend and I had a chunk of ice while having the our individual hazelnut gelato..... I don't think it's fresh....
google avatar

Kit D.

Yelp
Best place for dessert in Harvard Square- I am a big fan of their gelato! The small cup size let's you choose 3 flavors, and they fill it up well. Also really cool roses here. I like the dark chocolate, hazelnut, and coffee combination. Great stuff! Service is great as well.

Yelp
Located near Harvard Square, we strolled around and came upon this dessert haven. They have a ton of flavors to choose from, and they give out samples if requested. It wasn't crowded when I came, so we didn't have an issue perusing the selection, which includes desserts beyond gelato. We went with the dulce de leche and the hazelnut, both of which were packed with flavor. One scoop as a bigger scoop than others, but I am happy to get a little extra, just noting it wasn't consistent. There are a few tables inside to sit and enjoy or it's a handy treat to take around and walk.
google avatar

Natania C.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends late at night. It's a great hang out spot, and the servers provide free samples. Gelato itself is good.
google avatar

Alice D.

Yelp
Came here for an after dinner treat on a Sunday and the line to get gelato was quick as we were the only ones waiting. They have a good selection of gelato, however they were out of the seasonal flavor they were promoting (tiramisu) which was a little disappointing. The gelato itself I feel was super icy and not as soft as it should be. The flower I also ordered wasn't as delicately made as other Amorino locations I've been to which was a little disappointing. I do like how you can have an unlimited amount of flavors though. The price was pretty high for the quantity of dessert I got, although that's likely due to the novelty of it looking relatively nice - I probably wouldn't return after this first visit.
google avatar

Adela G.

Yelp
Place was cute and staff was nice. Most of the flavors were low when we got there. It was quite pricey for the amount you get.
google avatar

Anthony W.

Yelp
I was surprised to see such a large selection of treats. I enjoyed my shake, and my family enjoyed theirs as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Walking around Harvard Square in the summer works up a sweat. This calls for some ice cream to beat the heat. Amorino comes to the rescue with some gelato! Ambience - inside is a little more upscale than your local Baskin Robbins. Color and decor is similar to a cafe. Food: the gelato is as good as any other gelato place, however, it's the flower shaped cones made of gelato petals that makes this instagram worthy. TL/DR: Upscale ice cream when you need to impress...

Yelp
Sad to give a bad review because the product was exceptional. However, the Staff here seemed to be completely lost. During a moment when the store was nearly empty, they managed to take more than 20 minutes to get our simple 4 scoops to us, got the order wrong, rang it up wrong, and seemed amused and undisturbed by the fact. We had just come off a lovely dinner next door, and were super serene and just wanted a simple gelato. It's a serious task to take me from 0 to 100 stress level by way of a simple ice cream order. The three behind the counter were the Three Stooges, one of them in flannel pajamas. Didn't care that it took 20 minutes, were talking with each other instead of helping, and paying too little attention to get it right or make it right. Wish the service lived up to the lemon or chocolate chip gelato.
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
Got strawberry, mango, stracciatella, hazelnut, blueberry cheesecake with hazelnut macaron. Macaron was so good and love that you can get as many flavors as you want
google avatar

Kirtana S.

Yelp
Great gelato. Had the spicy hot chocolate and it was delicious. Huge place and first time at this location. I'll be back

Yelp
Product was good, but the employees are horrendous. They do not care about you and will give you attitude just for asking a simple question. I have never dealt with such terrible service before. Such a shame.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
I was visiting my friend who claims to be a Harvard grad student on a beautiful day. A magnetic field forced me into the gelato shop. Against all better judgement I gobbled down a dulce large - noting that you can add up to three flavors. This is an international chain with gelato places in Italy and NYC. I feel I must travel to Italy to check for consistent quality...
google avatar

Jan F.

Yelp
Very good gelato, with extra fun with the rose petals they make for the cones. The service varies across staff.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
About 10-15 waiting for ordering... another 5 minute wait for the staff to scoop your ice cream. $7.22 for classic size in cone.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Came here for dessert on a Friday night, past dinner time, and ordered a large cone with no gelato macaroon. Total came out to $7.22. What's Hot - Quality. Pretty delish, especially for the variety of flavors they have. - Menu. They have a pretty good variety of the menu. There's a wide range of gelato flavors from fruity flavors to richer flavors- coconut, mango, passion fruit, raspberry, strawberry, coffee, pistachio, chocolate, hazelnut, etc... Something for everyone. For their cones, you can order however many flavors you want, because each petal will be it's own flavor. Pretty impressive! There's also cups, cones, mixed dessert options, etc... - Service. Although the wait time to get to the front of the line and order was terrible, the 2 staff that were there were definitely on top of their game. We could see they had a system in place. One person continually made the orders and refilled certain items, like cones. The other staffer went back and forth between filling orders and taking a handful of orders at a time to get the line moving. The 2 staff that were there were quick and you could see that they knew what they were doing. They put together each order with such quality and precision that we were impressed. Hubby said the 2 staff members that were there should get a raise and/or bonus for the good job that they did with the little help they had. - Layout. There is a small seating section in the back, which is helpful. However, this seating section is not for waiting, it's for enjoying your dessert after you've ordered. - Health and safety. During this time of the pandemic, when health and safety regulations are regularly changing, it's reassuring to see their staff wear masks. For the amount of customer turnover this place has, the inside appears clean and well-maintained. What's Not - Price. For the amount of food you order, it doesn't appear to be the best value for money. It's not bad, but it is somewhat on the pricey side. If you order a cone, with a gelato macaroon, you're looking at close to $10 per order. This place is certainly tasty, but definitely a place to go to on a regular basis, because of the price point. - Portions. For the price that you pay, it's not a large amount. Additionally, there appears to be some price inconsistencies in their shop. For example, the menu on the wall says a takeout container of gelato for 1.11 pints is $26 (I think. Somewhere in the low to mid $20s). However, another sign on the gelato counter said the takeaway pint was over 1.5 pints. I'm not a fan of price inconsistencies in the shop, because it shows lack of attention to very important details. - Wait time. Terrible. We waited probably over 20 minutes to get to the front of the line and order. As I mentioned previously, they only had 2 staff. Our impression is that this location has a hard time finding good staff. However, they're incredibly short-staffed for a day and time of the week when you inherently know that it'll be busy (ie: Friday night). A negative side effect of being short-staffed and squeezed for time is that we weren't able to sample any flavors we were curious about. Disappointing. Management need to do a better job staffing days and times that are inherently busy. - Layout. For the length of the wait and the amount of people in line, there isn't much space. Final Answer Willing to come back, but may not be a list of first choices given the wait and the price.

Mariel S.

Yelp
Gelato is tasty if you have the money, but PLEASE have more than one very slow person working on a 95 degree afternoon....

Spoiled M.

Yelp
It's very tasty but VERY expensive. I don't think it's worth the price and I personally feel like the establishment is anti-male in general.
google avatar

George R.

Yelp
They cheated me. I ordered a large (grande) and ended up getting less than the smaller sizes. They use tricks where they put the gelato to appear that they put more but they actually end up putting less. For example, they put the gelato in the cup in such a way to leave cavities in the cup and then cover it with gelato but leaving holes with no gelato. So it appears that the cup is overflowing with gelato but when you push your spoon into it, you realize there's no gelato at the bottom of cup. Updated. It was not weighted as the manager claimed.

Steve G.

Yelp
I ordered a medium and it was tiny. There portion sizes have decreased significantly since they opened. I have been to Amorino many timed and never got a medium that was less than a small. The cone was also stale. I will never go back. Too bad they got so greedy.

Yelp
All these past review drama: this isn't true Italian Gelato, they make the cones in the shape of a rose.. Shaddup you Boston Cry Babies! Amorino Gelato has locations in Milan as well as New York. I loved the gelato the first time I had it in New York made into the shape of a rose was extra special. My wife and I are visiting my son in Boston and the four of us just finished dinner. I told everyone my favorite Italian gelato spot is now in Boston, would everyone like a sweet treat? We walk over and thankfully Amorino Gelato is practicing social distancing. Everyone is wearing a mask and there is no more than 6 people allowed in the location. Check. We walk in and see the showcase of flavors. I usually go towards more traditional flavors like Hazelnut, Mawardi Pistachio or my all time favorite, Stracciatella. But I spy in the corner of my eye, Amarena cream and black cherries. The black cherries look so plump and full, I feel the lust growing in my heart. Italian cherries.. I ask the server to please scoop me some of that Italian sexy Amarena cream and black cherries. She's scoopin' but not diving into the cherries?? I did get a few and of course the final product is made into a delicate flower. Amorino Gelato is now in Boston. Enjoy it folks! (Think of Amorino Gelato Boston as the David Wells of Gelato. You're welcome)

Yelp
If you know Gelato you know this is the place to try. My man Xavier took care of my family and I and served us some of the best Gelato I've ever had in my life. Every flavor I tried was amazing and... I have to say that perhaps... Maybe... Pistachio was my favorite. Rich and with nut chunks in it. Truly a delight. Will have to visit any time I'm in town.
google avatar

Yerina K.

Yelp
This is my favorite gelato shop to go to! The variety of flavors that are not only unique but super rich in flavor is always a plus. The workers make the flowers so pretty every time and we get to choose multiple flavors for each petal, which is great. The vibes of the place is also nice to just sit and chat but not a huge amount of seats.
google avatar

Mao M.

Yelp
I consider Amorino to be a great place to freshen up your palate after a meal. They are open until 11 pm where most coffee shops and deserts places are closed around the area by that time. The size of the gelato is reasonable for an after-meal treat, and I like that they have a selection of sorbet that is not too much. The store is small and the line looks longer than what it actually is. Take a walk for 5-10 minutes around the block and the line will be usually cleared. They now opened their small dining area, which was closed due to COVID. What we ordered: Gelato in a classic cup- spritz, black current, and Tiramisu $6.45 I love that their selection of flavors is unique and they have a good balance of sorbet-type gelatos and richer ones. The spritz was seasonal and has a nice tang to balance with the sweetness of the other two, and the black current is packed with flavor. There are some funny-tasting flavors, such as lemon basil my friend ordered. If you'd like to go for an unpredictable flavor, I recommend asking for a taste first. Considering the size, I would say that it is a bit expensive. It is not a location where I would go regularly, but a nice place to go when you're with friends.
google avatar

Neha D.

Yelp
Takes a long time to order and get your gelato even when the line isn't very long. However, the gelato is very good and worth the wait. You can sample different flavors and choose 2-3 to get in a cup or cone. The rose shape they make with the gelato in the cone is cute. There is a variety of gelato flavors ranging from sweet to more sour sorbets.
google avatar

Lily Z.

Yelp
Found Amorino Gelato after walking around Harvard Square on a summer evening. I love how they have a large variety of gelatos and sorbettos (always a great sign for someone who is dairy free)! I ordered a small-sized gelato which they make into a flower on your cone! You also can add unlimited flavors to your cone, so I got the melon, mango, and passion fruit sorbettos! The cone was a bit expressive (around $7), but I guess that's what you get for the flavors and presentation!

Emre O.

Yelp
Awesome gelato. You can be satisfied more than eating hazelnut, lemon or mango. I can definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

William G.

Yelp
Amorino is favorite place in Boston for gelato despite being a chain. I found this Harvard square location is much less crowded than the newbury street location. I love getting their small sized flower gelato in a cone. I got two flavors which were strawberry and blueberry cheesecake. I believe you can get more flavors on one cone though. The gelato tastes quite great though the blueberry cheesecake melts very quickly. The gelato looks very pretty. They also have seasonal flavors. They also have macaroons which are great.
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
This place is worth trying for the picture, but the price was pretty high for what you get. The flavors were good. I could really taste the fruit in the sorbet. I liked the gelato more though! There was a good amount of seating in the back and the workers were quick and friendly! I probably wouldn't go again, but it was a good experience! (More of a 3.5)
google avatar

Irene G.

Yelp
We went there to celebrate Mother's Day and it's absolutely a great place for a sweet treat after lunch/dinner. I got tiramisu, vanilla and caramel flavor and they made this little cute flower shape ice cream. They are also so thoughtful that gave all moms a beautiful rose for Mother's Day!
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Best gelato experience in the neighborhood. They make pretty flowers out of the different flavors. Its not just the presentation and flowers, the taste is amazinggg too. Staff is very friendly and even with crowds, their lines go fast. Totally worth trying! Nice seating space too. Tip: Don't mix nutty flavors with fruity!
google avatar

Aditi R.

Yelp
I tried this place simply because it's super hyped in Boston and they present it like a rose. My experience? The people who worked there were inconsiderate to a friend who was looking for vegan options. They made a face when i sampled more than two flavors (I get that the place is crowded and tending to everyone is a hassle, but it's my first time) Taste wise? I had the coffee, hazelnut and dark chocolate fused together without the macaroon. They were pretty good! However, I'm not sure if this deserves a higher price just because of the presentation. Overall, I'd recommend a try in case you are there.
google avatar

Jane Y.

Yelp
If you are in the mood for a light frozen treat, walk over to Harvard square's Amorino Gelato. The sorbets and creams are presented in an -oh-so-delicate rose form, just like in Europe. Being from NYC, there are plenty of these so while on my trip to Boston, I was happy to find Amorino. I visited here with my family after my last on-campus class. I selected the regular cone with macaron and the flavors I chose are fig marscapone, blueberry cheesecake, mango and strawberry with a pistachio macaron. There were plenty of flavors to choose from, some flavors were mostly down to half. Perhaps foot traffic is a bit slow around this area, because the macarons look as if they have been sitting there for a day too long. They crumbled and were moist indicating my suspicions are accurate. While staff are eager to please and very patient as we figured what flavors to choose, it would have been five stars if they provided a water station and displayed a full fridge with fresher product offerings. A small seating area on the far interior with windows overlooking Harvard square, my family ultimately enjoyed our frozen dessert roses and you'll never hear complaints over Amorino gelato.
google avatar

Aakanksha S.

Yelp
Adorable rose cones with the option of a different flavor on every petal so no need for analysis paralysis! Gelato lovers who cannot make a decision, look no further!
google avatar

Abhiram A.

Yelp
I think I've been to Amorino's in several cities including the one in Soho in London (which is where I discovered it), but this review is specifically for the location in Cambridge MA. The ice cream flavors here are interesting, and I'd definitely say over-priced. However, I like their concept of mixing in several flavors as well adding the optimal macaroon. If you want to treat yourself and try several interesting flavors at once, I'd say go for it. The medium flavor is the best deal in terms of flavors and the amount. The small is actually small and you get to try 2-3 flavors. The blueberry cheesecake and the dulce de leche are my favorite flavors. The pistachio isn't too bad either. If you feel like you want to try a blend of several flavors and treat yourself, this could be the go to place. Don't expect to go here for "local" flavors or anything like that-- there are other places for that kind of ice cream.
google avatar

Karen 2.

Yelp
i'd highly recommend this spot for a yummy & beautiful looking dessert. staff are quick and friendly and flavors are delicious.
google avatar

Xanthe P.

Yelp
Wonderful, creamy, tasty gelato. They had all my favorite flavors; hazelnut, pistachio, coconut and dulce de leche. Sweet little seating area on the street. Very creamy and delicious.
google avatar

Sophia L.

Yelp
Of course the flower shape is Insta-worthy and the servers are really nice about letting you taste and choose many flavors regardless of the size of ice cream you buy, but I can hear my wallet screaming everytime I visit. Compared to other frozen treat stores in the square, the prices are about the same or higher but the portions are much smaller. You are definitely paying in part for the flower aesthetic. Taste-wise, the gelato is just okay. I have definitely had other gelato with brighter flavors, but I don't think there are any other gelato options in the Square. If you go, I would recommend the darkest chocolate flavor (which is confusingly a lighter color than the other chocolate flavor) if that's your poison. Otherwise the pistashio and the hazelnut flavors are classics and safe although definitely not anything special.
google avatar

Kao S.

Yelp
Love love this place. So far everyone I've come to Cambridge I've always made sure to stop in for a gelato. Very friendly and great service that makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. So many variety's and flavors to choose from. Right in the heart of Cambridge you can just take a few steps after dinner and come here for sweets.
google avatar

Anonymous B.

Yelp
Definitely very very expensive especially for something as simple as ice cream or gelato but the flavors are delicious! The staff is usually very friendly and when they allow you to sit inside it's a great space to enjoy some ice cream and chat with a friend
google avatar

Ben T.

Yelp
We got 2 small cones, with walnut and fig (8/10) and tiramisu (9/10, very punchy flavors) on one, and dolce de leche (8/10) and strachiatella (5/10, couldn't taste anything outstanding about it) on the other. Tried a few other flavors too. They do flower petals for all of the cones, rather than scoops, making for a fetching-looking cone. You can also do as many flavors as you want as a result, but they recommend 2 to 3 flavors for the small cone. Cones are also no additional charge compared to cups, which was a nice touch. Would: walnut and fig, tiramisu, yogurt, lychee, passion fruit, dolche de leche Meh: strachiatella
google avatar

Leona V.

Yelp
Honestly? Nothing special. Mango flavor is pretty good and the yogurt is fine but I don't see anything special about this place. Sorbets don't melt as quickly as the gelato so maybe a little better for a photo.
google avatar

Richa T.

Yelp
This place is a great crowd pleaser. However, we got a little unlucky with some smushed roses. Pros: + Beautiful concept for gelato - they sculpt the gelato into rose petals if you order it in a cone + Decent variety of flavors - I have to love the L'immatable and the mango + Limited seating + Gorgeous photos for the instagram. Cons: - Roses can get smushed if you order the smallest size :(
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Honestly, I'm fine with being told "Sorry, we're closing and aren't taking any more customers." when I pop in late to a business. What I don't expect is a snotty attitude and to be literally called a liar about when I walked in the door. Absolutely disgusting attitude. Staff needs to learn how to speak to customers, because that ain't it. Won't be back.
google avatar

Joanna C.

Yelp
Cute gelato roses! I like the Pistachio and Hazelnut flavors (my go to gelato flavors). I've tried a few of the others but haven't been impressed. The roses end up being a decent amount of gelato, but I would prefer just two separate scoops of gelato so I can decide when to eat each flavor. Would also make getting in and out of Amorino easier. In the sugary frozen dessert battle of Harvard Square, I'd take Honeycomb or even J.P. Licks over Amorino since the first two offer more inventive flavors that are constantly changing, but Amorino isn't a bad spot. Definitely not the best gelato I've ever had, but does the trick if you're craving something sweet, but not too sweet or creamy post-dinner (or any time during the day).
google avatar

Emma Z.

Yelp
Pros: This place makes such cute cones! I love the flower shape, especially when topped with a macaron. The gelato itself isn't bad; you definitely can't go wrong with a hazelnut/dark chocolate combo. Cons: A small cone (without a macaron) will set you back $6. After the wow factor of the flower wore off, I found that the gelato isn't really special enough to make it worth $6 to me. But considering it's in Harvard Square, it seems that the steep price point is pretty standard.
google avatar

Harika K.

Yelp
Amazing Gelato experience. They stick to their word of NO artificial coloring & flavoring. Ordered a large signature- where you can opt for endless flavors & comes with a macaron on the top. Tried strawberry, mango & pistachio flavors- they were divine. And the pistachio macaron
