"Locally operated by Lea Sasportes, this Paris-based gelato brand is opening a second regional shop at 50 JFK St. in Cambridge on Wednesday, June 13, after a two-year effort that required city coordination for renovations and zoning in a historic district. Taking over a longtime retail space that housed Berk’s Shoes for more than 30 years (and earlier a drugstore that sold ice cream), the shop aims to honor that legacy and become part of the local community. It will serve dozens of gelato flavors—shaped into the brand’s signature rose—ranging from chocolate, hazelnut and dulce de leche to passionfruit, mango, coconut and black currant, plus milkshakes, sorbet drinks, granita, and treats like gelato-filled macarons, waffles, crepes and tortes. The brand’s hallmark stone walls and dark wood accents, seen at its first Back Bay location opened in March 2015, suggest a familiar, classic interior design for the new location as well." - Dana Hatic
