The 15 Best Thai Restaurants In San Francisco

"We won’t sugar coat it: the 21-page menu at Amphawa is so long it should come with its own SparkNotes guide. Yet quantity does equal quality at this homestyle Richmond spot with a trickling fountain and flowers on every table. From the classic soups and curries to the specials like house beef jerky and deep-fried sausage, flavors are amped up to the max. Exhibit A: the kao kana moo krob, or crispy, salty-sweet pork belly served over Chinese broccoli, and the ultra-tender pork leg stew (kao ka moo) with its star anise aroma we want to turn into an essential oil. We also adore this spot because it’s laidback, easy to walk into, and perfect for catching a game on their TVs over dinner." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez

Amphawa Thai - Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

Yet quantity does equal quality at this homestyle Richmond spot with a trickling fountain and flowers on every table. From the classic soups and curries to the specials like house beef jerky and deep-fried sausage, flavors are amped up to the max. Food Rundown photo credit: Carly Hackbarth Kao Ka Moo This pork leg stew makes an appearance on most tables, which makes sense, because it’s fantastic. You can order it a la carte or over rice. We prefer a la carte so the meat has more time to soak in the fragrant juices it’s sitting in. photo credit: Carly Hackbarth Kao Kana Moo Krob The crust on the chunks of sautéed pork belly are so crisp they stick to your teeth (in the best way). Saltiness is balanced out nicely by the glistening pile of Chinese broccoli. photo credit: Carly Hackbarth Kao Soy Soup Unlike a lot of versions in town, the noodles within this coconutty dish maintain their chew even while bathing in the creamy soup. Onions, pickled mustard greens, and crispy noodles lend a great crunch to every bite. photo credit: Carly Hackbarth Tom Kha Pak Soup Like a personal space heater, but edible. The warming soup is loaded with chunky mushrooms and onions, and has a hint of lemongrass that brightens the whole thing up." - Julia Chen

Thai and Lao Restaurants Open for Takeout and Delivery in the Bay Area | Eater SF

"This Richmond District staple has a broad menu spanning all the classics, and it should come as no surprise that the noodles — especially the soupy noodle dishes — are its particular strength. Try the flavorful khao soi, with its yellow curry-like coconut base, or the ground pork-studded sukhothai noodle soup, with its spicy and slightly sweet flavor profile. Order directly through the restaurant’s website or get delivery via Caviar or Uber Eats." - Luke Tsai

If you are seeking authentic Thai cuisine in the Richmond District of San Francisco, consider visiting Amphawa, a charming Thai restaurant. The establishment offers an exceptional menu featuring a diverse range of Thai dishes, from intricate creations to traditional street food. Amphawa’s extensive noodle soup is particularly noteworthy, providing a warm and comforting meal on chilly San Francisco days. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and food is served promptly. Be sure to save room for dessert, as the restaurant’s desserts are highly recommended.

Came at lunch time and there were several tables available. Hibiscus tea was both sour and a bit sweet. Tom kha had canned mushrooms and a good portion of chicken. Pad Thai shrimp was large. Veggie red curry tasted mostly like bamboo. Green bean and chicken with basil was standard.

Google
5 Stars. Had the Crying Tigers and was very impressed. The food was probably one of the best meals I've had in years and the service was great. I will eat here again if I find myself in the area. Compliments to the Chef. Oh, and dessert was great too with the coconut ice cream. Come eat here and be happy. Highly recommend.

Amphawa Thai Noodle House offers an authentic Thai dining experience in San Francisco. The Tom Luad Moo provided a comforting start, followed by the flavorful Vermicelli Beef Noodle Soup. The Pad Sator stood out with its unique taste, and the Jasmine Rice complemented each dish perfectly. The staff’s friendliness and professionalism enhanced our visit, making us feel truly welcomed. The cozy ambiance and attentive service reflect the essence of Thai hospitality. Highly recommended for those seeking genuine Thai flavors in the city.

Google
My favorite Thai restaurant in the SF Bay area. Now I wish the ambience was better. However, the food is spectacular. Even traditional Thai dishes that we’ve all have had, like Pad Thai with shrimp, taste, new and fresh. Something simple as tea is made in a special way that brings joy when sipping.

Google
This is our second time here. It was so good last time that we had to drive 1 hr from Lafayette through heavy Saturday afternoon traffic cross the Bay Bridge here. They have tons of menus you can’t find anywhere in one restaurant. What we ordered 👇🏻 tasted so authentically amazing that we really wanted to see the chefs! I love stir-fried dishes, noodle soups and Thai salads here. Find out more what they have, especially if you are Thai looking for authentic foods freshly out of street vendors’ woks!

Drew Suthipongchai

Google
Wide selections of Thai food. They have the real hormok (fish cake) which is unusual for California (usually so unauthentic). They have Kai jiew omelet too, which I love. Feel like eating back in a restaurant in Thailand. Waitresses are so attentive. Food is very quick.

Google
Great food! We got a wide variety! Everything was good. It was expensive though. Ended up being about 172 before tip for 6 people. The pineapple fried rice and the chow fun were just okay. The curry was the best. Have to order rice on the side. Parking is hard to find. Seats about 20.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. So much so that I've taken every member of my family and have reserved a table for 10-12 on at least 6 different occasions. (Shout out to Google Assistant for easy online reservation booking!) Firstly, their Sukhothai (#93) is one of the best, if not THE best tom yum noodle soups I've had. The broth is wonderfully flavorful, perfectly balancing sour, spicy, and umami. You can't go wrong with the large flat or small rice noodles. I get this almost every time, but if I'm lucky enough to have family paying, their papaya salad is also fantastic. Perfect balances of sour, some sweet, fresh, and umami in the fish sauce dressing. You also can't go wrong ordering their shrimp fried rice, pad see ew, pad kee mao, curries, chicken wings, and mango sticky rice! I would say the only dish that isn't my absolute favorite was the pad thai (because I prefer a slightly wider noodle on it, not as thin as a pho noodle.) Bring your family, friends, aunts and uncles. We love our local businesses! Also make a resi since the place gets pretty packed and is on the smaller side. Also reasonably priced and great for groups.

Yelp
Amphawa Thai is nothing short of a culinary treasure. My recent experience with their food was more than just a meal--it was an unforgettable birthday celebration. My sister, Sherilyn, went above and beyond to create a spectacular afternoon for Annette, me, and my entire family, curating an extraordinary feast from Amphawa Thai. Each dish was wonderful--full of authentic Thai flavors and beautifully presented. The Angel Wings--deep-fried chicken wings sautéed with chili garlic sauce and topped with crispy basil--were delicious, crispy on the outside and perfectly tender within. The Koong Ket Kaew, shrimp wrapped in a delicate egg roll skin, was to die for. My mother had two. The Tom Kha Gai soup was a highlight--a warm, creamy blend of coconut milk, lemongrass, and galangal that wrapped my husband (who doesn't like Asian food) in comfort. I enjoyed the Kao Moo Krob, crispy pork belly draped in a rich, flavorful gravy; the fragrant Gang Kheaw-Wan, a vibrant green curry filled with tender chicken and fresh vegetables; and the luscious Pumpkin Curry. The Pad Thai and Pad Se-Ew were great. My husband never had "chow fun" before and he enjoyed it, and Dad polished off the Pad Thai. It was so good. And the Gang Koor Koong was full of juicy shrimp bathed in a medium red curry with pineapple and tomatoes. It was the perfect way to round out an already phenomenal spread. I've never had so much Thai food in my life! Beyond the food, this meal was about togetherness--about my family gathered in joy, sharing not just incredible dishes but moments of love and connection.

Yelp
Amphawa exceeded all my expectations! I had this place saved for a while and while another foodie friend was visiting we decided to grab dinner here. We were seated without a wait at 6:30pm during the week, but every table was filled as we ate. They have an extensive menu with lots of offerings I don't normally see at Thai restaurants. We got the papaya salad with salted crab, roti, and fishcakes as appetizers, and split the fried tofu with chilis, crispy pork belly, and seafood rice noodles with house sauce. I loved the raw salted crab, it added so much flavor to the spicy papaya salad. The roti and fishcakes were both really good, and the crispy pork belly was perfectly cooked. The sauce on the seafood rice noodles was really interesting, a bit on the sweet side with what tasted like tamarind. I loved getting to try new things and this places serves all their food unapologetically spicy, funky, and seasoned. Service was really welcoming and our server was so funny. He sold us on the mango sticky rice and it was the perfect end to our meal. I'll have to come back soon to try more of their menu!

Yelp
It was a good sign when a group of friends and I were standing in front of Amphawa, perusing the menu, and a passer-by told us that the food's good there. The restaurant hasn't opened yet, but a staff member kindly let us in and allowed us to wait at a table. The menu was extensive, especially for noodles, and I noticed some specialty dishes. I ordered a seafood curry over rice for myself, a pad-thai with shrimps for my teenage daughter, and the sukothai noodle soup for my wife. The other members of our group had the tom yum noodle soup, beef noodle soup, and vegetable curry over rice. Everybody raved about their foods and congratulated ourselves on picking a good restaurant. My daughter especially loved her pad thai and proclaimed it to be the best she's ever had. Nobody left hungry because the portions were filling and therefore felt the prices ($17-$24) were worth it. The restaurant also had a nice ambiance and the service was efficient. We will come back here if in the area again.

Yelp
This was the best green curry I've ever had!! They use a lot of herbs, and the result is a flavor party!! The Yum Woonsen was also nice and spicy--very appetizing. There aren't too many tables here, but there's very little wait and very fast service. The lychee iced tea was also very tasty. Overall, a lovely place :)

Yelp
Cozy Thai spot in the Richmond! Loved the pumpkin curry with chicken, but the crispy pork with fried rice was the real takeaway. Papaya salad was a little too fishy for my liking and the papaya needed more crunch but overall food was great. Service was as expected when coming to a mom and pop Asian restaurant like this. I will say though it was quite packed and busy!

Yelp
Amazing small restaurant with home cooked feel! All of the dishes have wonderful flavors and have such a rich authentic appeal. I can't wait to return because there were way too many wonderful dishes for us to tackle at one setting. The staff is attentive and friendly. Great place for couples or smaller groups. One the best Thai restaurants I've tried in SF

Yelp
Review based on delivery: I don't normally do Thai food because it doesn't sit well with me but I had a work lunch later this week where we were going to a Thai restaurant so I needed to test out the magical powers of pepto bismol, which i can say prevented anything We got the following: * I got the Chan Pad Poo: Stir fried spicy Thai noodles with dungeness crab meat, egg, and green onions. $24.95 * my bf got the Pad Se Ew: Pan fried flat rice noodles with your choice of beef, pork, or chicken, egg, and Chinese broccoli. We went with pork for $18.95 * Angel Wings: Deep fried chicken wings sauteed with chili garlic sauce topped with crispy basil. * Lychee iced tea $5.25

Yelp
Our friends brought us for our first visit and we all really enjoyed the food. Service was prompt and I thought the wonton wrapped shrimp was fresh with a nice crispy wrapper. Wil definitely return!

Yelp
This neighborhood restaurant is incredible! It is a small Thai restaurant with a few tables but the food and the people are incredible. I got the chicken red curry and the flavors were everything! This food is made with love, spices, and care. Truly you've got to stop by this great spot and get yourself something delicious. My partner got the chicken eggplant plate and loved how fresh the veggies were, and the sauce! Flavors are layered and truly beautiful. Visit and support this local restaurant!

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious, high-quality, and made from the heart (you can tell). We always recommend this spot to our friends and family when they visit. Service is friendly and attentive, mostly straightforward. Never had a bad experience here. The restaurant is cozy and charming, and the quality is just as good when we get it delivered. I once had a soup here that revived me from being sick. It's that good.

Yelp
Might be the best Thai I've had in SF, super deep menu and everything was delicious. The Kai Moo Dang caught my eye and it was delicious, our group ate everything including the cabbage. Rad na and pad Thai were also delicious. They were accurate with pickup time for takeout and everything was well packaged, including fried items slightly open to vent steam. Definitely can't wait to try in person!

Samantha S.

Yelp
This is the best Thai food I've ever had in my life. Try the crispy pork belly, 10/10

David R.

Yelp
Pumpkin curry was alright, but I think this is the best khao soi I've had in the bay. Truly it'll be hard to justify trying other stuff given how good it is but good lord. Really deep menu though ~

Yelp
Overall 4.5/5 Nice service, very cozy and very clean. We will come back for more food. Still haven't tried their noodle dishes

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday for lunch with some of my friends. The place is pretty small, and it took a while to get our food. I was feeling hungrier than usual, so I ordered 2 entrees: a Pad Thai and a Kao Ka-Prow Moo Krob (Crispy pork belly with chili, onions, bell peppers, and fresh basil with rice). The pork belly was very crispy and delicious, and the Pad Thai was pretty good too. Definitely going to come here again if I'm in the area.

Yvonne M.

Yelp
Love their raw shrimp! Other food is so good too but I just go there for their raw shrimp. Their soup is so good too!
google avatar

Yelp
After reading a plethora of rave reviews I decided to splurge and choose Amphawa over other lower-cost Thai options on Uber Eats. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the food. The flavor of the pumpkin curry was incredible, that I will give them kudos for. That said, the Pad See Ew was quite bland and the chicken in both dishes was over cooked. I even got a hard piece of cartilage, which I understand happens, but combined with the other issues wasn't great. I'd be willing to give Amphawa another chance, maybe dining in and trying other dishes to compare, but this experience was disappointing.

Yelp
My favorite spot and I can tell that it's the best authentic Thai food in the Bay Area. Nice small place that full of authentic and delicious Thai street food. Various menu options with good and attentive service. Perfect portion with reasonable price. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Haven't seen our friend Aur for... what, 2 years??? Can't believe that. Girl, we saw this (a different) Thai place, when we were out for dinner Saturday. What do you think? She says, mm maybe. But do you want real Thai food? This place is better. Ok. We're in. Meet up, 6 of us - 3 kids. 2 of em 96% plugged into phone gaming. Whatever. At least they're quiet. Aur does all the ordering. And DAMN .... That was the right decision. Mmm mmm mmm. Started with seriously refined looking chix sate w little saucer of peanut sauce. Now I've had hundreds ok. Something special about this one: cut of chicken & cook - ultra tender. P'nut sauce.. mm that's better balance than I've had. And a barely an afterthought little cuke & red onion salad. Made a la minute. And I mean like 10 seconds before it was served to us. Ok. Ok. Next up: a sushi crepe with piped gelled sauce topping. Hmm, interesting. Like 6 pieces interesting for me. Hey, the rest of em are chatting. Or playing Roblox. Son, I KNOW why I came here. Next a sliced roasted spicy sausage. Good kick. Did a couple of after the fact coughs. Yeah, I admit it. I also had 3 more pieces. Then I lose track but there was: yellow chicken and potato curry - not a spec of heat - but delicious, a pork 'stew' -really just falling off-the-bone tender, bone-in chunk of roasted pork in the cooking jus w a typical Thai vinegar-dip. Also a whole pompano in a simple sweet and sour with fancy-cut poached veggies covering it head to tail. What else? A blanched green beans or maybe long beans dish. Another sauteed bumps/balls of chix or pork w peanuts and another type of green beans. I'm probably forgetting something. That's what the pics and videos are for. Verdict: Stellar. I'd come back here in a minute. Especially if Aur's doing the ordering.

Yelp
My go to Thai restaurant! What stands out the most is the Naked Lady :) there's really no where else that serves raw blue shrimp like they do. Every time we go, we order their main appetizers: - fish cake - skewers - angel wings They never disappoint! Every entree is cooked to perfection as well! Since the restaurant is kind of small, there's not that many servers. Even though they're super busy, their service remains amazing.

Yelp
First of all, already a huge thumbs up from me because Amphawa is open past 9pm in this sleepy city!! Came with a group of four to eat in, it is a small but cozy inside with a decent amount of seating. Pretty loud, wouldn't recommend for an intimate date but great for getting food with friends! You can usually find street parking around the area if not in front. Menu has all the hits and then some; I ordered pork pad kee mao and my friends ordered the beef mango stir fry; ground chicken noodle dish; and ground pork noodle dish (the names escape me!) Food was good and in HUGE PORTIONS, I was stuffed eating it all and could have taken half to go home later. I got the medium heat and they made it pretty spicy, that was probably at the top of my heat tolerance so know your limits! I am glad we found this spot, besides Sri Thai I have been a little let down with Thai in the city being too expensive or not that good. I'll be back!

Yelp
Service: server was kind and attentive. Food: the menu was so extensive with over 100 options! We wanted to try new Thai dishes as well as the classics. Listed our dishes by menu number. 15. Som Tum Thai (Green Papaya Salad) - AMAZING, love the fish sauce 10/10 23. Yum Woonsen (Silver Noodle Salad) - great melody of flavors 9/10 48. Kao Ka-Prow Moo Krob (Sautéed crispy pork belly with onions) - the pork belly was crispy but it was also a little tough too. It's still great with a side bowl of rice 9/10 71. Pad Thai - classic, tried and true 10/10 93. Sukhothai Noodle Soup (Hot & Spicy noodle soup) - if you ever want a comfort bowl to warm your soul, would recommend this one 10/10 I think the spice level is pretty authentic Thai level, so go easy when order and you can always ask for more peppers to add. Ambience: very casual and low key. Had a great time catching up with friends. Overall 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Amphawa - A floating market in Thailand. Quality/Quantity - Extensive menu!! See all, and I mean all, my pictures... Today we got the following: Roti with Yellow Curry - Fresh, the curry was thinner than I would prefer, but the flavor was good. Por Pier Sod - First time trying this and it was good. Don't really know how to describe it... A cross between Dim Sum and a spring roll. Shrimp Pad Thai - 6 generous size shrimp, again the sauce was thinner than expected but the flavor was good.. Overall all dishes were fresh! Would have preferred more quantity, especially with the roti dish!! I was worried that I was going to leave hungry, but it was just enough food. Atmosphere - Very small local family restaurant, seats approximately 40 people maximum. Open 7 days a week, from noon till 10pm. Street parking, good luck. Couple TV's. Service - Good, Chilly (not sure if that was her name) was a one woman army. She did all the tables and to-go orders. Had to ask for more ice water the first time, but she remembered the second round. We also had a hiccup with our dish, and she offered to replace it, but we had already finished it. She then gave us a 10% discount, thank you. Price - $42 (after discount) + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2011, I thought you were here longer? Or was there a different Thai restaurant here before you?

Yelp
We stumbled across this tiny but delicious Thai eatery while riding a bus to Golden Gate Patk. Ed knew that Geary Street in the Richmond was famous for great world cuisine offerings and Boom! We hit the spot! She had her favorite Pad Se-Ew which was not very exciting to look at but more importantly "one if the best I ever had". I tried the Hot & Sour Shrimp Soup and I'm glad I did. Broth was super spicy, ie very flavorful but not killer hot.
google avatar

Carly L.

Yelp
The ambiance was a 3/5. It was cute, not nothing special; just super casual. The whole place was very clean too. We started with the fish cakes which were alright. The dish was saved by the cucumber salad because it gave it the pop of flavor and crunch it needed. We also got the angle wings as an app and those were down right delicious! They were saucy but still crunchy and crispy. For mains, we got the green curry which was solid but missing some kind of hero spice and zing. The pumpkin curry was awesome. One small note would be the butternut squash needs to be cooked a bit more as it was a little hard. We each got a cocktail too which - the mojito was mid but the Pomrita was simple but fantastic. Service was good. They were consistent and attentive, but not overly in your face.
google avatar

Dmitry T.

Yelp
Kao Na Ped Pa-Lo (five-spice duck over rice) was the worst I ever tried at any restaurant. Duck and rice were old, dry and tasteless, eating duck was like chewing a rubber. According to my friend the chicken curry was not bad. So far my favorite duckiee place is still Old pier hot pot.

Alex C.

Yelp
So about Thai food, lets see, I would call Amphawa an interesting Thai restaurant nestled close to Park Presidio and Geary Blvd that is sizeavle in atmoshpere but comfy local cafe like vibes so you wont feel too small lol. The ambience is decent, nice, decorative with orchids, a local tv with loca channels on, and a humble little kitchen where what you see them cool - which is warm and comfortable (the way Thai food as any Asiatiq food should be) and no meed for the formalities - strictly food to feel good. I cale here tonite 10/6 and ordered a Pad Thai w/ shrimp and a Tod Monn (Thai style fried fish cake) and the dishes were awesome. I also recommend the Prawns in a Blanket and fried spring rolls and Guay Teow, they seem to do a good job with those and the Guay Jubb is a Dare-To-Be-Brave if you want to try it (its a special Thai noodle soup I had the first time and loved it as it has asian style blood pudding and porl chitterlings in it- frikin Anthony Bourdain style stuff yummmm). So if you need some warm thai food with a glass of iced thai coffee on a not so typical 98 degree weekend in San Francisco Indian Summer in october, come to Amphawa, it may not have mango trees such as the name suggests but it has lovely orchids and delightful Thai dishes to go with it, whats not to like.

Yelp
This review is limited to vegetarian dishes only. I'm underwhelmed by the three visits in a month to this restaurant. With vegetarian friends, we tried a significant portion of the menu for vegetarians. The basil eggplant dish has undercooked eggplants. The pumpkin in the pumpkin curry was crunchy, not firm but undercooked crunchy. I could go on, but you get the point. The tofu pad thai was the best dish, but unremarkable. I get they are understaffed and busy, but if it weren't the most convenient restaurant, I wouldn't have returned after the first visit. I may go back one more time without my vegetarian friends to give a more balanced review.

Yelp
This place is soooooooo delicious! Had it once before with delivery and it was good. Then had it a second time, this time picking it up, and WOW the food fresh and hot was stellar. Got the roti, pad thai, and yellow curry. All were amazing. Probably some of the best pad thai i've had

Adriana V.

Yelp
So good! We got pad se-ew , chicken satay, por pier pak, lychee and Thai ice tea. Don't remember what the seafood soup is called.

Sirinaa S.

Yelp
Authentic traditional Thai flavors with standards every time I ordered ,every bite reminds me of Thailand. Absolutely delicious!"

Yelp
Really bad low quality thai food. Probably one of the worst in SF. No clue how they have good reviews. Food is greasy, flavorless, and they skimp on meat. The pad se ew and pad thai have just a few scraps of meat between them. Not really a lot of veggies other. Noodles are flavorless. Chicken satay is dry and bland. Papaya salad was soggy and bland. Very bad. Ate here 3 times, unfortunately, and didnt like it each time. No more.

Yelp
4/4/23 Tuesday, I spontaneously walked in with nine people (a catch-up session that dragged longer than expected, and half the group got hungry. The staff was very accommodating, allowing us to order on separate tabs, and only four people ended up ordering. I feel bad for causing inconvenience but I am continually thankful for their accommodating attitude. I got a #93 with egg noodles. I'm an advocate of their noodle soups.
google avatar

Yelp
They won awards and they deserve it. I am drooling as I right this review, I popped in for a dinner for one on a rainy evening and was so surprised by how tasty their dishes were! Really authentic, not too sweet, and perfectly spicy without putting your lips on fire. I'm so happy I found this place

Yelp
Amphawa, was and still is our go to from the first owner 20 years ago until now, still very good, my go to dishes are patThai of course and mango beef, and chicken sate. My only complaint is the crying tiger dish meat is not as good as it used to be? All in All great food and service.nice inside dining too.

Yelp
We ordered take out again... thank you COVID. Here is what we ordered, The ordering and pickup process was easy and quick... note the packing list is all in Thai. Hardest part is getting parking. Angel WIngs - sweet and spicy deep fried wings; sticky and messy, just the way it needs to be. The wings are crispy and still moist and juicy. There is also deep fried basil sprinkled on top.. if you never tried fried basil, give it try, crispy with slight basil flavor. Roti with Curry - I only eat it plain without the curry dipping sauce. The roti is like a thin crispy and flaky pancake. Its is pan fried in oil so it might be a bit oily... but if you dip it in curry, it might thin out the oil. Kao Na Ped Pa-Lo: spiced duck - OK this dish has good flavor, please save the sauce to spoon over white rice or add it to some pan if you want to sauté spinach . OK the thinly sliced duck is bit on the dry side. The cooking method appears to be a braise, so not sure why its dry. Kao Pad Koong Ga-Ree - Fried rice with yellow curry powder, shrimp, onions, celery and egg. The dish is good, I really like the slicked raw onions, its sweet and adds some texture to this dish. The curry flavor is very light, you can smell it but not really taste it.. too bad. Pad Se-Ew Noodles- Pan-fried flat rice noodles with chicken, egg and Chinese broccoli. Sweet soy sauced cooked in vey hot wok... you can actually taste the smokiness. I really like that dish. The broccoli is tender. I think this is my favorite. I did not have the mango sticky rice.... that is my wife's favorite. Did not want to fight her for it.

Yelp
From word of mouth, had a few Thai friends mentioning this place as the most authentic Thai restaurant in the City or even the Bay Area. This is a small to medium sized shop and can get quite busy during the lunch rush. I went on a Sunday and then place filled up quite quickly. Plan ahead and arrive a bit early. Noise wise it was on the low to medium noise level. Do keep in mind this shop is on the smaller side so noise will bounce around. On this section of Geary Blvd (especially along 14th Ave), street parking is available. As a side note, (imo) they do have a whole book for a menu so ordering might take a while (too many good choices). Luckily I already had recommendations from a friend. They also have bottled beer as well, for those who wants those. Food is great, it was balanced and flavorful. The garlic rice in my opinion could use more garlic but when mixed with the curry, it doesn't really matter. Pad Thai is definitely the best I had so far (for within USA). The fried fish cake was really good too, it wasn't chewy and had a nice texture to it. I would say come here and give this place a try if you haven't already. Tip for ordering: request for 'less oil'. The flavors are better too.

Yelp
Authentic, delicious, and slightly different from other Thai restaurants around the neighborhood. This is the restaurant where I tried young peppercorn for the first time! Woah! Super spicy! How does Mark Wiens eat this without blinking?!? The kor moo yang here is fatty and delicious. And I'm partial to the green curry. Yum.

Yelp
Service & food were excellent! Space is small, but very cute with their decors. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I typically order for takeout via Grubhub and it's usually a 5-star experience. My order usually includes wonton soup with egg noodles, and the angel wings. I recently learned that I have an adverse reaction to fishball and fish cake products. For Amphawa, they include fishball and fish cake in their wonton noodle soup, even though those ingredients are not indicated on the menu. On this particular order, May 6, I had explicitly noted to NOT include fish balls or fish cake. However, after I picked up my order, I still found 2 fishballs in the food. While I'm not deathly allergic, I do have concerns for people who may have more serious food allergies who are also considering ordering their meals from here. I suggest ordering with caution.

Yelp
The SF weather got me craving something soupy. On a weekday evening, they have a small seating area with enough space to accommodate a small party without reservations. What we tried: Ba-Mee Moo Dang - Egg Noodle (Dry) with Roasted Pork and Soup on the side. Reminded me of BBQ Pork, very comforting Pad Thai - Y'all can not go wrong with this one Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stop be and try their dishes. It takes a min for the food to prepare but it's totally worth it!

Yelp
My family has been coming to amphawa for years and it has also been a solid experience. However, it breaks my heart that the service and quality has been going down. I recently ordered takeout and found pieces of noodle when none of the dishes that I ordered had noodles! Luckily I do not have allergies but it made me worried about cross-contamination with other dishes. Hopefully this was a one-time thing but I would definitely be clear if you have any allergies since they may not be as st with cleanliness. Otherwise, the flavors are on point and their mixed seafood curry is unbeatable. I would also recommend the papaya salad but they only give a few pieces of fresh shrimp. The space is small so it is mostly a takeout operation but they definitely have seating so just be prepared to wait on a busy night!

Yelp
Came here craving for some Thai food in the Richmond. This place had a cozy and homey atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming the moment we walked in. Parking was pretty easy and there was not wait but we did go on a Tuesday night. We ordered three things the pad Thai, crab cake and chan pad poo. The noodle dishes were both delicious but I would say the pad poo was better and i would come back for it. The crab cake was okay and I probably wouldn't order again. The portions were pretty big and we had leftovers. Overall the dishes were very flavorful and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
I have lost count of the number of times I have visited this location. When I want to eat authentic Thai food, I always think about this place. The staff are very friendly, and the location is good too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Street parking free meters on Labor Day. The food was delicious. Gourami fried fish tasty and crispy still. Pompano fried was just average. Ask for the sauce on the side. Tod mon pla or fish cake was very good, not too spicy. Bbq chicken was not really bbq, average taste. Pad Thai Shrimp was excellent, with nice texture and taste. Mango with rice was very good. Service excellent, come during non rush hour. Ambiance was small family style cafe.

Yelp
Service was quick and it felt like food came out within minutes. We had the pad Thai and pad see ew with chicken. The pad thai had plenty of prawns, crispy tofu, and flavour. The noodles were more on the chewier side, but I didn't mind it. The pad see ew was lighter on flavour but still tasty. It didn't feel as oily compared to other places. It had plenty of meat and veg along with the noodles. Overall, the meal was satisfying. I'd happily return if we're in the area.

Yelp
Authentic Thai restaurant with many dishes you don't normally find at other Thai establishments. Tastes and presentation is on point! Service is great. Dine in with my mom last week and ordered the duck and pineapple curry, fish cake appetizer and the rice roll appetizer with a white rice and thai ice tea. Let's start with my fav: Duck curry was thick and full of flavor! The sweet chunky pineapple bursting with juice. The duck was shredded to soak up all that coconut curry-ness. I can taste the fish sauce that they use to make this a rich thick sauce. I can drink this with any carb/protein/salad. In fact, I just used the left overs to make a flavorful Rotisserie chicken spinach salad the next day for lunch. They should make a salad dressing out of this. So good! Ok, the fish cake was great. I've been to this place a long time ago and my recollection was that the fish cake was a little more dense before and this time is a little on the softer side. Still flavorful and impactful especially with the crunchy cucumber salad on the side. We ate a couple of pieces before I took a pic. Perfectly fried. The rice roll was interesting. It's got a good mix of textures/flavors, crunchy from the fresh blanched bean sprouts, soft tofu and egg, savoriness of the sausage, sweet basil to spice it up all wrapped up in a thin layer of softened rice paper. Then drenched in a sweet and savory tamarind sauce. I can also taste the flavor of seafood sauce that is often used in HK rice noodles. The Thai ice tea was strong and just right. The jasmine rice is slightly mushy for a Thai place, but not terrible. I would highly recommend folks trying this place. I would definitely come back to try their more unique dishes soon. Enjoy!
