Coming to America: Chef Bun Cheam

"Cheam’s next venture is a restaurant of his own (along with partner Steven Wong), scheduled to open inside Market Line in the Lower East Side’s Essex Crossing development. “There are so many other amazing vendors joining,” he says, mentioning Wildair (“doing a wine bar”), Ample Hills Creamery, Doughnut Plant, Nom Wah and S.E.A. Market." - Marguerite Imbert

Please do yourself a favor and stop by ANY of the Ample Hills Creamery shops in NYC!! Now I know what you’re thinking: who wants overpriced specialty ice cream?! And to that I say, anyone who’s as much of an ice cream fanatic as I! This came personally recommended to me by many New Yorkers and the recommendation was to go to the one in Chelsea Market but we were already in Little Italy and Essex Market was just as good so we decided to order here. They sadly do not do samples so I decided to order a flight even though many have recommended the PB Wins The Cup flavor. My order consisted of: - Ooey gooey butter cake, which is an ABSOLUTE MUST ORDER. Hands down my absolute favorite flavor - Summer of love, also in my top three - King of mangoes, definitely top three and made this Filipino girl very proud - Baked & Unbaked, a top contender for best flavor - Royal Raspberry, a delicious sorbet - PB Wins the cup, please don’t bother with any other peanut butter flavored ice cream on their menu and go straight for this one They do also have baked goodies and I decided to take home an ooey gooey butter cake slice that’s individually pre packaged. It was just as delicious as the actual ice cream itself and I did not share one single bite of this! I absolutely loved this ice cream so much that I actually contemplated shipping a couple pints back to California but was pleasantly surprised to find a location in Long Beach for my convenience. Overall, please don’t hesitate and stop by Ample Hills. It won’t disappoint and the only thing you have to worry about is how you’re gonna handle it once you’ve gotten hooked on these flavors!

Delicious variety of flavors to choose from. The ooey gooey butter cake is definitely worth a sample!

Amazing varieties and interesting flavors. Highly recommend the Essex Chai, has multiple layers to the flavor. The Oatmeal(?) cinnamon flavor was good, tasted like a cinnamon roll, but not as impressive as the Essex Chai. Staff were friendly too☺️

Nice selection of flavors but not the best taste.

Really great flavors. Would recommend the flight since you get to try 8 flavours in mini scoops for 8 dollars! The coquito flavor was really really good!

I ordered an ice cream cake to bring over to The Grand Delancey for my husband's birthday. The employees were super helpful and the cake was AMAZING! Everyone loved it.

If you’re gonna eat ice cream anywhere around here… this is it. Every other place around here is overpriced garbage compared to this. This is straight to the point, great ice cream.
