"The Chapman Avenue location of Anepalco is the one to hit before a game, especially on weekends when the lunch options lean towards dishes like chilaquiles, queso fundido, and other casual Mexican comfort fare." - Farley Elliott

"Owner/chef Danny Anepalco’s boasts some of Orange County’s best chilaquiles, and is often called “The Chilaquiles Guy.” It’s worth a trek for these chilaquiles, but they’re only served Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. via Doordash or pickup." - Mona Holmes

Very nice and quaint restaurant attached to the hotel on the corner. Very delicious and flavorful food. The building has high ceilings and beautiful decor. Nice big bar. Outdoor covered seating as well. Would recommend to anyone who wanted to try elevated Mexican dishes. Bathrooms are in the lobby of the hotel and are accessible through the restaurant. High top tables and half booth half regular table seating available.

Try delicious and unique menu. The tortillas are amazing and all the flavors are authentic.presentation is thoughtful and nicely done. The drinks are nice too… it’s a yes! Go for good food and nice atmosphere. People sincerely helpful, nice and present with the customers. My Mexican part of my soul feels alive here. Thank you.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of this restaurant, though I would give it a try, but I came out disappointed service was barely visible waiter came in every 45 other staff members had to bring us water and our iteams horrible service food is okay at best food was to salty especially the beans and rice the wagu meat was delicious & tortillas besides that I disliked everything else dessert was horrible cheesecake was hard as a rock and tasted like crap i wouldn't even classify it as good dessert super hard and dry like i mentioned i wouldn't come back very bad experience I had.

We tried this place for dinner! The appetizer trio was way too small and the guacamole tasted like avocados gone bad! The calamari was decent but over-fried! Chile relleno came out cold! Overall not a pleasant experience! Definitely won’t be back

Anepalco is a posh, modern restaurant showered in greenery and with a stylish covered patio outside. Located next to the Ayres' ALO Hotel, the parking is scattered around the venue. The service is friendly and the ambience is fun, but the food holds back on flavor and portion size. When a restaurant serves upscale versions of delicious street food, it's common for dishes to get refined, as Anepalco does with its dinner menu. Perhaps in this case, the French influence overcasts the Mexican roots, and I was left missing the punch in flavors. One of the better dishes was the Tacos Dorados - which isn't really a taco, but more like a fried shell enchilada. While the name was slightly misleading, the dish was pretty good, served with fresh fish and a pleasant chipotle sauce. The trio, which caters to those that love to have a little bit of everything (me), included a refreshing ceviche, guacamole, and corn. The guacamole was quite muted though they indeed use very fresh avocado. The ceviche similarly included decent bits of fresh seafood - it was refreshing and had a nice herbal and citrus-y base. The corn was well roasted but didn't quite pack the elote punch. To be fair, the "punch" probably would have made the dish much heavier, and it seems the trio was going for more elevated, less decadent. I also sampled one of their drinks, El Diablo, which was mixed with Jamaica syrup and tamarind puree. Tasty and, as with everything else, mild. Not quite the flavor of the devil, but definitely aligned in color - the drink had a nice red glow. Anepalco has the vibes and service down, if they bring the spice, they'd be a home run. Regardless, it's a fun place to do happy hour or a light dinner before a concert or night out. And their brunch sounds promising, so another reason to try again next time.

Amazing food. All of the salsas taste great. There’s even something special about their tortillas/tostadas. Portions are nice. I had the duck which is a small size, but fills you up and hits the spot. Drinks are refreshing and pretty strong. Service was very pleasant. I took family that doesn’t speak English and they felt respected.

Google
Five stars, but not for the lactose intolerant. This restaurant legitimately has great food, but if you're lactose intolerant you won't find anything on the menu you can eat done over here. Of course, you can have them take off the cheese and the cream and the other dairy in the menu items, but it won't taste the same and in my mind it doesn't taste as good.

Wow! What an experience! Walked in a few minutes early for our reservation and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our server was awesome, polite, and very helpful when choosing our menu items. 😀 Chips and salsa arrived. Whole fried corn tortillas are staged in a cute spiral holder. The three salsas were unique and delicious. Wife ordered a spicy drink called Spicy Y Flaca. Tequila, cucumber-problano, and lime juice. Very spicy and flavorful. I ordered their Tónic-O. This used Brokers gin infused elderflower liqueur, lime juice, Topo Chico, and tonic water. So amazing! Wife ordered the Not PA'ella. This dish was outstanding!! It was full of shrimp, calamari, mussels, ribeye, chicken, chorizo, cotija, and poblano rice. My entree was the Maine Lobster Enchiladas. Two enchiladas stuffed with Maine lobster meat! With green salsa, cream, cabbage, cotija, rice, beans, and Oaxaca cheese. Our finale was this gorgeous flan. Topped with toasted shredded coconut. 😋 😋 When the check was dropped off, it was in this little drawer. How cute!!??

Yelp
Everything from beginning to end was incredibly delicious. The service was quick and ambience was very family oriented. The app trio was wonderful, from the fresh crunchy salted blue corn tortilla chips, to the fresh ceviches as well the additional pineapples tomato's and jalepenos added to the guac. The main filet mignon and lobster enchilada was unlike anything we've ever experienced. Truly a rare find to be able to have both these proteins served together, which was complimented extremely well with both red and green sauce. As this place is attached to a hotel, it seems like a hidden gem that has been around and only truly known to the locals. Def recommend if you're ever in the area!

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner here, it was near the hotel we were staying at, we decided to go so we didn't have to drive anywhere in an area we were not familiar with. we were not disappointed, the staff were attentive. the atmosphere was great. I definitely ate too much, but it was worth it. I had the braised short rib dish, it was like comfort food.

Yelp
3.5 I asked my friend and colleague who was visiting from Tokyo what he wanted to eat and he said Mexican food, and this was near his hotel so it worked out great. I realize that I've been here, but 10 years ago. Here's my updated review. Ambiance: We sat outside since the weather was warm. The tables and chairs seemed pretty basic, especially for the price of the food. Server: super cool, easy going, even with a language barrier and lots of questions. He was the only server for the outside area and there were 5 tables, and he didn't skip a beat. Food: - 4/5 I ordered the guacamole appetizer to share. Taste was excellent, but kinda a small serving for the price. The Serrano peppers, pineapple and cilantro weren't mixed in, so you could adjust the volume / level to your taste. The avocados were nice and creamy and the Serrano slices were just the right thickness. Served with 6 crisp tostadas to break up, they held up without crumbling so that was great. - 3/5 wagyu ribeye tacos. The amount of meat to tortilla / beans, etc. was pretty unsatisfying. It felt more like a bean taco with meat in it. The Wagyu was tender but lots of the pieces had large chunks of fat - I felt they could've portioned the fat / meat better. Tortillas were soft with a nice bite and held up well picking up. My buddy had the enchilada Rojas and was sweating profusely from the spice. I think it's because he's got a Japanese flavor palette. He did say this was the best Mexican food he's had in the US, so kudos for that. Overall, good spot, but not amazing to me. The modern take is great, it's just a bit underwhelming.

Yelp
I've been a fan of Anepalco's for a long time. See my review in 2013. Their Chilaquiles is one of my favorite savory brunch dishes of all time. It's truly that outstanding. Check it out if you want to try their crispy chips topped with egg and their signature red sauce with cotija. You could even have it topped with meat if you are feeling fancy; however, I usually opt for it as is. Since my original review, this location has rebranded quite a bit. Back in the day, I went here for brunch and coffee. Now they have upscale Mexican food for breakfast and dinner. For dinner I love their app trio, which has ceviche, street corn, and guac. As for entries - you really can't go wrong, but I do love their mole enchiladas and their tacos. Ambiance is fancy and service is friendly; however, they can be busy and less overwhelmed at peak hours. The food is why I come. To summate: I highly recommend their chilaquiles at brunch. Their dinners are worth checking out as well!

Lanny H.

Yelp
I've eaten here quite a few times over the years because it's close to my work. I have to say that the quality of the food has really gone down. Portion size has also gone down. The dinners are over priced for what you get. Fine dining prices without fine dining taste. Lunch is more reasonable price wise, but the taste is lacking still. I use to really enjoy the food here. I think others have noticed as well, as it is hardly ever crowded anymore. Service is still friendly and the ambience is bright and welcoming. Too bad.

Hashim Q.

Yelp
I used to work down the street from Anepalco so we would have most of our work lunches here (not a bad thing at all.) the chilaquiles are my favorite item on the menu - both red and green. I also really enjoyed their agua frescas and coffee. Sitting outside when it's nice out (when is it not nice out in Orange County) is always a bonus and my preferred way to enjoy Anepalco.

Rita H.

Yelp
It was okay. A LOT of menu items S were not updated. It's trying to be fancy. Taste was good and no quality issues but just note that the menu may be entirely different upon arrival.

Ed S.

Yelp
My wife and I visited this restaurant last year for the1st and the food and service were great. We stopped by again last week and i again ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce and it was yummy but i noticed is was more acidic and a bit sour, perhaps too much lemon juice on the sauce. My wife ordered the fish tacos and they were perfectly delicious. These are perhaps the best fish tacos we have ever tasted! Their guava french toast was amazing and a must try as well . Service was great excellent and the place is very nice. They have a covered outdoor patio but we dined indoors since it was a cold day. Give them a try!

James R.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place because it has so much potential! The flavors were spot on, and the staff was genuinely warm and attentive. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by our food arriving cold--not just once, but twice. While the kitchen clearly knows how to craft tasty dishes, they need to focus on delivering meals at the right temperature. With some attention to this detail, this spot could truly shine.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start. My partner and I were looking for a place to brunch and Anepalco seemed to have great reviews and 4 stars on yelp. How could we go wrong? So we made a reservation and drove over. The restaurant was located outside of a hotel. We didn't have issues with parking. We checked in with the hostess. She gave us a choice of sitting by the window in the sun or outside where we had the pleasant noises of the freeway. There were only two other customers in the entire place at the time. We opted for outside. We looked at the menu and were pretty excited as we were both hungry. We were not offered any chips and salsa, so we asked if they had any. He gentleman said they do not normally offer however will have a look out back. Eventually came with some, what tasted like wholegrain/stale tortilla chips and a side of salsa. The chips weren't great. But I thought even better, I can save myself for the delicious chilaquiles I'm about to devour. We ordered some spicy shrimp for an appetizer and chilaquiles divorciados and the huevos divorciados. Divorciados includes both red and green sauce - in case you can't decide which one. Out waited asked if I would like some meat on my chilaquiles, which I was confused as it didn't specify if I could add meat, what meat options there were and if it wad included in the price. So I asked what the most popular choice was and he advised the pulled pork - so I chose that. The appetizer arrived and looked lovely, however the shrimp had the shell on it and was covered in a Chilli oil which looked like it would be bursting with flavor. After one shrimp I was disappointed. Not only was it extremely messy to eat, while de-shelling scared any oil would cover our clothes, but it did not taste the way it looked - filled with flavor. I stopped at one. Then we received our meals and I noticed I did not receive any pulled pork but thought it was fine as the chilaquiles looked hearty without it, so I did not mention anything. Upon tasting the chilquiles first bite and it wasn't great. I felt even more disappointed. There wasn't much taste for something that looked like it would. The red side had a touch more flavor than the green side. The huevos divorciados - the red side just looked like it was swimming in chili oil, same chili oil as the appetizer. I did not want to try it. I had a taste of the green side and it also wasn't great. The waited stopped by and asked if I had pulled pork in my chilaquiles and I said no and he left abruptly, I thought he was going to the kitchen to fix the issue. However, it never came. We asked for the check shortly after. I felt disappointed as I thought this place was going to be amazing after all the great yelp reviews I had read. Not sure if I ordered the wrong items or what. But no further people came while we were there either. Safe to safe we will not be back.

Yelp
Setting was great, small but perfect. The service was amazing, very attentive. And the food, all the dishes were great. There were appetizers, the main course, and dessert. More than the actual pictures but everything was clean on every plate, and by clean I mean gone. Will definitely go back to try other plates.

Yelp
Service: 5/5 Servers are very attentive! Food: Food has a lot of flavor. I tried their red chilaquiles with chicken tinga. Delicious! I also recommend their coffee and Jamaica mimosa! Parking: accessible and plenty of parking Ambience: Great not too loud.

Yelp
Good food.. service is okay. Ambiance is okay. My main complaint is ..over priced food and drinks.

Yelp
Anepalco is a modern Mexican restaurant with great indoor and outdoor space. There are a lot of plants everywhere which adds to the ambiance. It is located in the same Plaza as the Ayres ALO hotel. Parking is easy as there are spaces around the restaurant and hotel. Came here with my boyfriend and a couple of his co-workers for lunch on a Wednesday. We were greeted and seated right away upon entering. We ordered a few things to share: Chilaquiles with Cochinita Pibil, Chicken Mole Enchiladas, and the Steak Sandwich. The food came out quickly and beautifully presented. The chilaquiles are plated in the middle with the sauce around it, which is different from how we are used to seeing them. However, the sauce and cochinita pibil were flavorful. The enchiladas were also very good and we enjoyed the mole sauce. The steak sandwich was okay and didn't stand out amongst the other dishes. Overall, giving Anepalco a 4/5 and would recommend people to visit. It is a solid spot for modernized Mexican food with a nice space for groups to hang out and enjoy a meal and/or drinks. The service is quick and the staff are kind.

Yelp
I got a to-go order of the Al pastor tacos. To be honest, it was quite average. I've had better tacos at a food truck and taco stand. There was nothing special about this dish, but maybe I got the wrong item off the menu. Also, the sides - rice and beans were very bland. I was anticipating a different kind of rice. They served something that resembled bland steamed rice. It lacked flavor significantly. My boyfriend and his family ate here, so I can't comment on service. Overall, I probably wouldn't order again from this restaurant. Also, based off the photos of the menu on Yelp looks like it's pretty pricey as well. ~$25 for 2 tacos and small side of rice and beans. Go support your small mom and pop shop instead! I am sure there would be more authentic flavors elsewhere.

Juliana Z.

Yelp
I'm leaving 3 stars for nostalgic reasons. My first time here was around year 2014-15. I loved it. Drinks, food and service. My favorite were the little breads with that spicy achiote butter I would go for brunch and dinner service. I went there this weekend and it has changed so much. A 3 sampler salsa with tostada chips shoved between a spiral document holder. I ordered a carajillo and my boyfriend ordered a cocktail (I forgot the name but it had strawberries). They were good. Food: Chicken mole enchiladas and 3 taco plate. It was good. I was disappointed with the rice and beans. It was mediocre. Rice was hard/cry/crispy on outside, I mixed with the beans and added mole from my plate to saturate so I can enjoy. Service was just OK. I don't see myself going back or recommending it to peers as would've in past.

Yelp
This restaurant deserves a way better rating than it has! My parents came to visit me and stayed at the hotel this restaurant is attached to and I must say it beyond delivered. The food drinks overall vibe of the place made the dinner so amazing. We received great service and will be going again!

Emilia L.

Yelp
Anepalco is a fantastic spot! The fresh chips are from their own tortillería as the owner was telling me, and they are so delicious. The staff is super friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. I had the red chilaquiles with pork belly, and it was amazing--full of flavor and freshness. The cocktails were also really good, they tasted super fresh as I got the margarita flight! The place itself is really cool and they have a lot of plants. Overall, it's a must-visit for great food and a warm atmosphere!

Yelp
This place had so much potential. We booked a reservation for dinner. Unfortunately the hostess could not stop guessing the name of the reservation long enough for me to tell her what my name actually was, so we sat at the bar. At the bar, the bartender took my girlfriend's drink order and walked away. As I tried to give her my order as well, the bartender asked me who was driving. I understand responsible drinking, however, this made both of us uncomfortable as the plan was to have dinner and drinks. After that, the vibe changed and everything became uncomfortable. We ordered ceviche... it was okay, not my favorite, but we could not shake the change in energy and decided to leave despite both being starving and looking forward to dinner. The drinks were actually quite good and food coming out looked great but it was so awkward we couldn't stay to enjoy it. Our farewell with the bartender was dry at best and not even a good night from the hostess as we left. Wish that we had not had that experience.

Yelp
Sat outside to enjoy a beautiful sunny day. Food was amazing! Service was great! Drinks were very refreshing. Recommend it for anyone who hasn't tried it.

Yelp
Disregard the 3.8-star rating--this restaurant is a hidden gem that undoubtedly deserves a perfect 5 stars. It is a true celebration of authentic Mexican cuisine, crafted with care and respect for tradition. We began with the Chilaquiles in Tomatillo Sauce, in our opinion, the best dish on their menu. These are, without question, the best chilaquiles I've had in Orange County. Perfectly crisp tortillas are bathed in a rich, flavorful tomatillo sauce that's full of depth without being overly spicy. Topped with tender, high-quality steak, they also partner it up with eggs cooked to your style of choice, making each bite feel like a journey home--just like the Ratatouille moment when the critic is transported by a single bite. For dessert, we savored the Pan de Elote, paired beautifully with creamy vanilla ice cream. The warm, subtly sweet corn bread complemented the ice cream perfectly, offering a delightful and lasting finale to the meal. This restaurant is a standout among its surroundings, immediately catching the eye with its vibrant Mexican colors adorning the exterior. Step inside, and you're welcomed by a beautifully crafted Mexican-style ambiance, where every detail feels intentional and authentic. The comfortable air conditioning ensures you can fully enjoy the experience, savoring every moment in this inviting and thoughtfully designed space. As an added bonus, you don't have to stress about parking as soon as you arrive, thanks to their complimentary valet service. The team is not only efficient but also remarkably friendly and accommodating, reflecting the same warmth found in the restaurant itself. This is more than just a dining experience--it's a love letter to the soul of Mexican cuisine. I will absolutely be returning, and I urge anyone seeking authentic, high-quality Mexican food to do the same.

Yelp
The food and cocktails at this restaurant are amazing! This is one our favorite places for lunch. We have never been disappointed eating here. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Best chilaquiles.. quick service Clean restaurant Very simple decor , but nicely done

Griselda P.

Yelp
Visited Anepalco for lunch and found it to be a solid choice. The food was good, though nothing particularly wowed me. The service was okay--efficient, but not overly attentive. The casual, fast-paced atmosphere made it a nice spot for a quick meal. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would recommend it for a laid-back lunch.

Arnold W.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for years. I had to try to chilaquiles. It's the two sauces two ways. The food looks amazing. The flavors are spot on. It's quite acidic in most dishes. Services was quick and efficient. Everything met my expectations. 4.5 stars. I'm willing to try other things next time.

Annet M.

Yelp
Food was delicious, outdoor seating was great. I hope to try indoor seating next time, as well as different dishes! Their service was excellent.

Sandra V.

Yelp
The service was excellent. They sat me right away. Beautiful colorful pillow ambiance with the option to sit outside. Food was delish. I was skeptical when I saw the Chile relleno but it exceeded my thoughts. The rib eye, shrimp and corn asado stood on its own, very flavorful not over cooked. The green and red salsa was really good. However the tostadas were too hard for me to eat. The margarita flight was even better than I expected. I am not a Margarita lover but the flavor margarita attracted me to order. The tamarindo and Jamaica were so delish, the tequila was smooth not overbearing. My server was excellent, very friendly. Thank you for a great dinner !

Veronica G.

Yelp
Me gustó la comida, las bebidas muy originales, es un lugar pequeño pero agradable, (patio es amplio)

David H.

Yelp
Found this place while at a conference. Located in a strip mall next to/connected to a hotel. Smaller sized restaurant with a relaxed vibe. Service staff is friendly and food served promptly. The dishes are Aesthetically pleasing and it translates to the taste. Every bite is full of flavor. We ordered the tacos and chilaquiles along with other dishes like the appetizer trio, and enchiladas. Fresh homemade corn tortillas make the difference. A pleasant surprise for me and a place I recommend. Enjoy!

Memo M.

Yelp
The food is mediocre. No authenticity at all. They make it look nice but the flavors are weak. They should sell the business to real people that have a passion for cooking authentic Mexican food

Christopher D.

Yelp
My wife and I saw Anepalco on a list of best brunch spots in OC. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not live up to this lauded title in our opinion. Starting with service. My wife and I showed up around our reservation time, but the restaurant was relatively barren with just a few other tables filled. My wife and I were promptly seated, but we began to feel a bit neglected. Our water glasses would go long periods without being refilled and flagging down the servers was harder than it should have been for the quantity of people in the restaurant. With that said, I will say the server we had was very kind and did apologize when he realized the few times he took longer than usual. Moving on to the restaurant itself. Anepalco is attached to one of the two Ayre's hotels across from UC Irvine Hospital. The fact that it is attached to a commuter hotel makes it feel a bit less special, though the interior decor was generally lively and inviting. All considered, the restaurant is probably situated better for a brunch or family get together rather than a romantic dinner. Finally, the food. Shortly, after sitting down, we were greeted with chips for the table--which were deep fried, unseasoned corn tortillas without any kind of salsa. We thought that the lack of salsa may have been a mistake, but looked around to find the few other tables sans salsa. My wife and I ordered the queso fundito for an appetizer, the Chilaquiles roja, and the Chilaquiles verde. The queso fundito was disappointing, watery, and lacked flavor. Conversely, the Chilaquiles roja were quite good, with bursts of spice and fluffy eggs on top. I will acknowledge the assertion from other review that the chips are soggy, but it didn't bother my as much as my wife. My wife's Chilaquiles verde were less impressive. She said the green sauce was just okay, and the pepitas seeds distracted from the dish. All said, Anepalco is okay. Some dishes are very good, but the service, less stellar dishes, and okay ambiance drag it down.

Yelp
Chilaquiles heaven! My daughter recently fell in love with Chilaquiles over a getaway trip. We were in search of some good Chilaquiles back at home in OC. We found that Anepalco was known for their infamous Chilaquiles and had to come give it a try. We were impressed! My daughter ordered their Chilaquiles, which she really enjoyed. I love that they have a "Divorciados" option, which lets you enjoy both their red and green chilaquiles. It was GOOD! My husband opted for their enchiladas, which he also enjoyed and their Ahi Tuna Ceviche was delicious. We all decided we wanted to come and try their lunch menu next time. Thanks Anapelco for a great brunch!

Cecile W.

Yelp
We stayed at the attached ALO because work was being done on our house. The ambiance is DTLA arts district with the plethora of hanging pothos, houseplants and open shelving galore. The cocktail menu is pretty inventive so I tried the Spicy margarita one night and the Diablo the next. Def go with the spicy. I didn't realize that chips and salsa should've come out without any request. It wasn't until my husband, who dined solo at a different time than my boys and I did, that I found this out. The kids' menu sucks if your kids don't like cheese! We had to go back and forth with the server to find something they could eat... when we finally decided on a side of chicken with their house made tortillas, I was so happy I didn't ask for the price. Turns out it is $1 EACH per tortilla so tortillas alone were $4. I still remember El Torito Grill bringing out their house made tortillas as part of the meal! I had tacos dorados from the appy menu and it had nice flavor, although they were more like small taquitos. Dropping more than $350 here over 3 visits, I don't think it was a great value, but the bartender was attentive to my husband during his visit, and the NBA playoff games were on, so he was happy. The guac is a must order and so are the braised short ribs! fall from the fork tender!

Yelp
Anepalco is a contemporary Mexican fusion restaurant with high quality, home made dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. The interior is cozy, warm and with a flare of subtle classy Mexican theming. We love it. The outdoor patio is very nice during sunny days. The staff will also bring out heaters if it's cold. They are very friendly and Accommodating. The chilaquilas here is very famous among Southern California yelpers and ranks BEST CHILAQUILAS in Orange County. You can add fine marinated meats to the chilaquiles like carne asada, carnitas, cochinita Pinole, barbacoa, and more. It was simply chilaquiles perfection. It is the best in town by far! The tacos are also very good but chilaquiles take the cake! This is a must try place for any Mexican food or margarita lover.

Yelp
We weren't greeted as soon as we walked in, a few servers and hostess just looked at us even tho the restaurant didn't look busy. The food was decent, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The service and ambiance were still enjoyable, and I appreciate the effort put into the experience. Overall, I had an okay experience

Yelp
The food had nice flavor and the handmade tortillas were amazing. We didn't have to wait long for our table outside to be ready. The service was good we didn't feel rushed. Sitting outside is recommended because it's a small place and inside it was quite loud. Would definitely dine here again.

Yelp
We decided to eat here since it was close to our hotel. We sat down at 5:15 and ordered at 5:20. We were in town to see an Angels game at 6:30. The drink I ordered came out promptly but the same wasn't for the food. After the drink was given to us we didn't see our server the rest of our visit. At 6:02 I approached the and asked if it was possible to cancel my order. At the same time it was being taken to my table. I ask to have it packed to go and didn't try it until 10:30 that night. We ordered the wagyu ribeye tacos and the el pastor tacos. They may have been better fresh out the kitchen but they were an abysmal excuse for tacos. At $71 for two orders of tacos you'd expect prompt service and something better than canned black beans and steamed long grain rice. Please avoid this place and visit your local Mexican restaurant or taco truck.

Yelp
This place was a great find! Super authentic flavors and everything was delicious! I had the mangotini which was not too sweet with the added bit of spice from the tajin. For dinner we got the pastor tacos, mole, and lobster enchiladas. All of the items were wonderful and everyone enjoyed their dish. Would definitely return! It is a little small inside, so would recommend making a reservation if possible, but for a Friday night it wasn't super packed. Service was great as well!

Yelp
Ive passed Anepalco so many times and i cant believe ive never tried it until now. Been there twice in the last 2 weeks. Its such a cute spot to meet up with friends. Service was great both times and the food was delish! I had the braised short ribs both time and the tomahawk last night. Had the margarita flight the first time and thought it was a little too sweet for me. I couldnt taste much alcohol. I will have to try something else since they have a wide range of tequila. We asked for something spicier than the sauce they provided and was given their special sauce. It wasnt much better than the ones they offered. Was really surprised to see a $1 fee for the extra sauce. The $1 wasnt an issue, we weren't told that there would be a fee. Anyways, I hear their Chilaquiles is amazing. Will have to go back to try their brunch.

Yelp
Wasn't bad spot I didn't realize it was a hotel restaurant when we walked in was empty and super narrow so wasn't conducive for my son so we sat on Patio. The chips and salsa is weird like big circles and over fried. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were pretty good. They just give very little white rice and black beans with. My guest got the Chicken Mole it was too strong flavor for me but she liked it.

Yelp
The brunch food was very average for an upscale-type restaurant and for the prices. For starters, my brunch club got aguachile and calamari - the aguachile was not spicy (housemade salsa was not bomb) and the calamari was not sour enough and the sauce was too tomatoey? Like I was eating a pasta dish I ordered the barbacoa omelette and the egg was not soft and had no flavor, the meat wasn't seasoned, and there weren't any other fillings in the omelette that I could tell. Only pro was that it was stuffed with meat. My friends ordered the guava french toast (the best thing we had) and chilaquiles divorciados (good presentation but had an overwhelming lingering smoky taste)

Yelp
Stay away from the lobster enchiladas folks... It's false advertising to call the fishy, tough pink stringy contents of these lobster. I am convinced it was tuna, as in like tuna out of an old Starkist can. (I should've taken a picture of it.) The manager insisted they used fresh lobster. If that's the case they need to fire the chef for either lying or mixing in tuna. Stupid me we tried to stomach our way through one of the two enchiladas before letting our server know, such that they we had eaten too much of it to be able to return it free of charge. So $30 down the hole. Secondly, their guava french toast also tasted odd. While I love all things fruity and tangy especially guava, this also was a bit of a mystery. It had a yellow puree on top which presumably was passion fruit, but the after taste reminded me of the odor of a public bathroom lol. And not that I mind guava but the presentation was not subtle; the french toast was basically in a pool of liquidy guava puree. Service was otherwise excellent.

Yelp
Visited for the first time today, 3/15/24. The restaurant is cozy, colorful, and with a fun, laid-back vibe. We were seated quickly without reservations ( it was earlyish..4:30). Servers and service were good. The ahi tuna looked gorgeous but came up short for my palette. My husband enjoyed it as is. I felt it was bland. It was missing the tangy and salty aspect. The mole was good. It's just enough sweet with a trailing kick. The side of black beans and white rice were very good, however, just warm, not hot. Not pictured was the Seabass dish. He loved everything. The fish preparation. The creamy mashed potatoes. The sauce. He was raving throughout eating. I forgot, the opening tostadas and 3 type salsas and beans were very good. My favorite was the green salsa... I imagine the green enchiladas use the same sauce and are delicious.

Yelp
I've always driven past Anepalco on the way home so I figured let's give this place a try! Came here for happy hour on taco Tuesday with one of my girl friends. Happy hour ends at 7pm. When we arrived we only had 15 minutes left of happy hour, so we ordered our first drink and chugged it just so we could get another before happy hour ended. Lol. Anyway, I ordered the tacos duros (chicken taquitos) and the barbacoa taco with handmade tortilla. Food came out very quick. The taco duros were fry so it wasn't my favorite, but they were fried to a crisp! Its topped with a finely shredded cabbage, no sauce. The barbacoa was the best of what I ordered. The ribs were juicy and tender. The salsa on it was amazing. Can't forget about the homemade tortillas. Very delish! Overall, with happy hour, the food and drinks are decent priced and satisfies my stomach. I'd come back, for happy hour.

Yelp
This place was great! We got a pitcher of their sangria which was delicious. Chips and salsa were unique, more of a large chip tostada but still yummy with different salsa options.

Yelp
Anepalco always delivers great service and amazing chilaquiles. I personally prefer the red sauce over the green, but I noticed more people ordering the green. If you can't makeup your mind, try the divorciados (divorced) plate. Although, the regular chilaquiles will come with a bigger stack of tortillas. Oh, and don't forget the flight of mimosas!
