"Angler is a special occasion spot that’s easygoing and fun. There’s nowhere else in SF where you can dine face-to-face with a taxidermied bear or brush up against a basket of pelts on the way to the bathroom. Most dishes at this Embarcadero spot have a whimsical flourish to them. Gold-plated cutlery is swapped in between every course. A head of radicchio covered in X.O. sauce arrives with a pristine dentist-style white cloth bib. A tableside pour of caramel accompanies the soft serve sundae dotted with cocoa nibs. The Embarcadero spot feels perfectly suited for trading stock tips with a friend or sitting next to tables full of puffer vest-ed folks who agree that Dreamforce is the highlight of fall. The dining room is a cross between a fancy seafood house and a hunting lodge thanks to decorative wall fish, a taxidermy bear, and a big open kitchen with a wood-burning hearth.
