"The food at Anglo is excellent, but what we love the most about this place is that you can get a fine dining meal here (with all the bells and whistles) for the same price as a slightly extravagant midweek dinner. The food here is both creative and very good, and while the room won’t win any awards for its atmosphere, it doesn’t matter because you’re paying £55 for 11 courses of impressive food. It’s perfect for anyone curious about high-end cooking, but affordable enough for anyone who’s had the familiar experience of watching Masterchef: The Professionals with a sad-looking Pot Noodle." - Eileen Twum

"As its name suggests, British produce is the mainstay of the menu at this pared-down, smoothly run restaurant, with ‘home-grown’ ingredients often served in creative rather than conventional ways. Cooking is well-executed and presented in an understated, modern style." - Michelin Inspector

"Anglo is one of those restaurants that makes very fancy-looking food—the kind that looks like it could either be art, or an ant’s dinner. However, it does it at very accessible prices. The 10-course tasting menu is around £80 and the food is pretty good. If you’re looking for a fine dining experience in London that isn’t going to lead to a month of Cup-A-Soup dinners afterwards, this is your place." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak

I recently dined at Anglo and was thoroughly impressed by their tasting menu. Each course was impeccably crafted, showcasing a harmonious blend of flavors and exquisite presentation. The service was superb, and the ambiance perfectly complemented the culinary experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining adventure.

Absolutely amazing from the food to the service. The host explained everything in so much detail which enhanced the experience aswell as the food. The chef came out a few times also explaining some of the dishes which was great to see. Its a small place with only a few table making which make everything very personable. I would highly recommend the wine pairing.

This is my favourite fine-dining restaurant in London. They use all UK-based ingredients, and half of the paring wines are also from the UK—the best place to introduce decent UK food to my visiting friend. The ambience is excellent. The staff is kind. She always explains the food and wines well with details of notes, colours, scents, tastes, etc. Those demonstrate to improve the experience because you would think what you expect. Until now, all of my friends I brought there told me it is the best restaurant they've tried in London. I think the price is also a strength of the restaurant, and I guess that is because of the location. If the restaurant was a bit west or east from the site, the price must be at least 50 pounds more expensive per person. The restaurant is firm with the sour flavour because they use fermented ingredients. Seafood lovers would like the place because they use seaweed flavour for the final touch. I like sour flavours and seafood, so it is the perfect place.

Anglo Our first visit to Anglo in October last year turned out to be one of the dining highlights of 2023. Well I can honestly say that our return visit on Saturday will take some beating in 2024. The imagination , creativity and skill of chef Anthony Raffo is nothing short of genius as he puts together some amazing dishes using the very best British produce. To match this you have manager / sommelier Marie Danzavilliers with her absolutely amazing friendly service and drinks pairings that complement each course perfectly. The restaurant is only a short walk from Farringdon Station on St. Cross Street. When you enter you will see that it’s a small restaurant seating between 14 -18 guests. This is why they can manage with a a very small team giving you friendly and personal service. You will also see an abundance of jars which are filled with all sorts of pickled ingredients. Their food style is from foraging and pride themselves on not wasting anything in order to create more fabulous dishes. Our return on saturday started with a lovely welcome from Marie before showing us to our table. We decided to have a drink while we looked at the menu and chose the Earth Ale Spicy Weiss beer and the Strawberries on Sea gose. The menu is Eleven Courses (including snacks and petit fours) priced at just £85 pounds and there is also a supplemented dish if you so wish. This I have to say is one of the best value for money Tasting Menu’s you will find anywhere. There is also a Drinks Pairing which is Five glasses for £49 pounds that believe me is well worth trying. There is a choice of a smaller tasting menu at lunchtime. We opted for the full tasting menu with the extra course and for myself I chose to have the drinks pairing. This began with our first snack of a drinkable White Cabbage , Hampshire breed pork , parsley and rapeseed. This was followed by the second snack of the Norfolk sand carrot which was very clever indeed. Now it was time for the bread which is the Anglo Sourdough with yeast and wild mushroom. This leads to the first course with a wine pairing and oh my god what an absolute delight it was to. The Yorkshire Leek with potato , ramson caper , tunworth and three-cornered leek. The depth of flavour was incredible and something you’ll find in every course. The pairing was a 2022 Skin Contact “Maria” Madeleine Angeline from the Renegade Winery in Bethnal Green , East London. This was followed by my personal highlight of the day. The Line Caught Cornish Cod , hay , cauliflower , hazelnut and sea purslane was quite simply stunning. The cod was matched perfectly with a 2022 Le Besson , Domaine Batard Langelier from Loire , France. Now it was time for the supplemented dish of Hampshire Trout , wild rocket , herring roe , purple sprouting broccoli , broad beans and goat’s curd. We then moved on to two Duck courses with the first being an incredible Devon Duck doughnut with a fabulous walnut purée. This was followed by the amazing Devon Duck , hogweed seed and swede. The wine pairing was unbelievable because on its own it was ok but with the duck it became soft and fruity. This was a 2020 Biografico , Uve de Vida from Castilla-La Mancha , Spain. Now it was time for the cheese course and it was very clever and delicious. The Somerset Montgomery Cheddar with Isle of Wight black garlic and walnut amazingly tasted like a savoury tiramisu. The pairing was a Pure Mead from the Loxwood Meadworks in West Sussex. Your palate was then refreshed with a Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb with gherkin , dill and oxalis. Now it was time to finish was an absolute genius of a dessert. It was a Jack Buck Farm Celeriac ice cream with a charred celeriac skin and a meringue. The pairing was equally fabulous in the form of a sweet apple Somerset Ice Cider. We then finished with a coffee and petit fours of Hay fudge and beetroot. This brought an end to an incredible dining experience where the food was outstanding and matched with fabulous drinks pairings. I really can’t recommend a visit to Anglo highly enough.

I booked a table 24 hours before (changing from another venue because this looked nicer) based on the reviews. They’re correct - it’s a fabulous place. Small, intimate, friendly and the food is outstanding - creative, delicious, innovative and totally reasonably priced. It’s the best restaurant I can remember going to in London. So many restaurants feel over-priced and generic. This one is very special (they also went out of their way to accommodate some complicated dietary requests)

Google
Simply superlative. One of the best tasting menu experiences I’ve ever had. Every dish was so balanced, each of the ingredients shone through at all times. So wonderful difficult to pick out highlights, but I’d pick out the trout and the cheese ice cream dessert as of particular awesomeness. Also, at only 14 covers and one sitting, the atmosphere felt superbly focussed on the food.

The whole experience was amazing. The food was exquisite and each course was really unique. The pricing is good even if you go for the wine pairing. Would highly recommend for any milestone you want to celebrate or even if you're in the mood to try some exceptional food.

Yelp
Why I'll go back: pound for pound, and £ for £, one of the best tasting meals in London. You HAVE to order: obviously it's a set menu, but the pre-dinner cocktails are solid Tony's Tip: the lunch seating on Fri or Sat is nice because it's light out, which is a good backdrop for the relatively small space (no more than 20 people). Just returned from London and our second trip to Anglo. The first was pre-Covid, and we were thrilled to find Chef Anthony Raffo still whipping up creative dishes for guests. This visit was just as enjoyable as our last one, and since no one on Yelp has shown Anglo any love in five years, I figured a more recent review was the least I could do in return for our amazing lunch. Did I say lunch? Yes. They offer it on Friday and Saturday, and we've done lunch both times and really enjoyed it. Sitting in a quiet part of town just east of Bloomsbury, Anglo has a pretty straightforward presentation vs. some other tasting menu restaurants that seek to entertain a bit. So we saved those for the evening and were able to focus on the food at Anglo. On that note, there isn't one of the six dishes that we didn't thoroughly enjoy. The opening offering - a carrot bisque - was delicious (and perfectly themed for Autumn). The fish course - leek with several accompaniments - was delicate and flavorful. The duck was presented in two courses, with the first being a creative puff of confit and the second a more conventional portion, but accented with a couple of thin, gelatinous pieces that served as a unique way to add both texture and sweetness to the dish. And for the second day in a row, we were treated to the pleasure of cheese in the form of "ice cream!" I really hope this catches on in the U.S. - we're sorta addicted now. Dessert (beetroot and berries with honey) reminded me of the old spin art kits when I was a kid. Just a beautifully elegant way to close out the meal. I alluded to cost at the top, but I have to say, 8 scrumptious courses for a mere £55 is hard to beat anywhere in London. Well worth it, and an incentive to splurge on a cocktail, glass of wine, the pairing, or an extra course that may be available. It's also a refreshing change from the exorbitant cost of many tasting menus these days. Granted, Anglo is not Michelin-starred, but it rightfully should be. If you live in London, I would work Anglo into your afternoon or evening sometime soon. If visiting, definitely put it on the list. We absolutely cannot wait to go back! No

Yelp
I never expected my first meal in London to be so good! I've heard Anglo just opened, but if they keep cooking at this level, they'll never close. I love the intimate ambiance with just a few small tables. The appetizers come in rapid succession, and they're all super fun. There are sweet shreds of Crab under a frozen ice cap, a Beef Heart Kebab that tastes like a taco full of jerky, and a creamy purée of Salt Cod. Even their bread is exceptional. They let their sourdough starter work it's magic a lot longer than most so the extra sour gives the bread some earthier notes for a flavor-dense impact. They also add yeast to the butter, and it's as addictive as they say. The English Pea is the most surprising and easily the best dish. The peas are sweet and fresh, and I LOVE them. The black garlic and whey beneath are amazing, and this is coming from someone who hates peas. The Hampshire Trout is smoky, seared, and soft with a side of roasted tomatoes and summer squash with courgette purée. The Goosnargh Duck breast is a primal pink beneath a crispy skin. The pate dip is delicious, and the plum puree goes well with everything. Caramelized onions have a barely-detectable sooty finish on the Cheese and Onion on Malt Loaf, and the mild-to-medium-sharp cheddar shavings look like coconut. Dessert courses come next, and I love that they're all fruity and not too sweet. The Frozen Apricot goes well with leaves of basil, and a crisp burnt-sugar shell finishes like caramel. The Summer Berries are served with buttery shortbread, and the buttermilk ice cream brings it all together. The bonus Blueberry Financier is served still warm, and it's buttery like a Madeleine. Wow, I've literally never liked peas until now. Anglo has an amazing menu, and it's surprisingly very affordable. There is no lack of genius nor ingenuity in this kitchen, and I would love to see more of it!

Yelp
Yummy! Absolutely loved this place. Staff were attentive, food was scrumptious. Although one or two dishes were a little unusual and didn't blow my mind. But it was still good overall. I booked a few weeks in advance for dinner as the venue is pretty small. There is a tasting menu for £45, hence you don't get a choice in what you order. But that was fine with me as I got to try things I wouldn't usually. Lots of nice little surprises in the dishes. Add £30 if you want to pair wines with your meal. I'd def go back. :)

Yelp
Really amazing and tasty It's been a while since I've tasted so many great dishes. With a nordic hint, we enjoyed 13 amazing dishes, all surprising, tasty and beautiful. The chef has been at Noma for a short time. We could definitely sense that. We didn't go for the wine pairing, just a couple of glasses. The Zinfandel is amazing. And so is their Brut. The place is small, but cozy. And location seems a bit deserted. But don't be discouraged - it's worth it.

Yelp
Awesome eight course menu in a small intimate restaurant - service was great, wine list reasonably priced and all the courses delicious - understand the menu changes quite frequently ... My favorites from when we went was the butternut squash, burrata and chestnut as well as the chocolate dessert
