Tiny, unassuming cafe serving Italian cuisine, homemade ice cream & other desserts.
"Anima E Cuore may not look like much from the outside. Don’t let that fool you. There’s always lots of fresh pasta on the daily changing Italian menu, often paired with slow-cooked meat or exceptional seafood sauces. If you like pasta and you like shellfish, eating them on a single plate at Anima will yield happy results. The homemade ice cream is among the best in London, but tarts and cakes are just as good—and each comes with ice cream." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak
"If you’re from north London and you don’t know about Anima, it’s time to get to know it. The pasta changes daily and comes with a range of ingredients from rabbit to fresh peas to clams. It’s tiny here, so we recommend booking to avoid sadness and hunger. Oh and it’s BYOB. And we know this is a pasta guide but they make their own ice cream as well." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Ask anyone from north London about a decent BYOB restaurant and Anime e Cuore, in varying degrees of pronunciation, is likely to be said several times. This homely Italian spot is a perfect BYOB spot for a celebration or family get-together. But it’s cash-only and can only seat 22 people, so book in advance. The menu changes daily, but expect pasta with sauces you’ll want to drink up." - Jake Oliver, Sinead Cranna
"Anima e Cuore's lavender exterior will more than likely catch your eye from the outside, but this brilliant local Italian spot on Kentish Town Road doesn't need any help getting attention. The food is modern Italian, with a daily-changing menu that always has lots of fresh pasta. Go for any of the pastas with slow-cooked meat or sensational seafood sauces, and you’ll be in excellent shape. The homemade ice cream also happens to be among the best in London. Lots of people have figured out this place is great, so book in advance. Anima is BYOB, so bring something special to drink from Clapton Craft up by the station." - Richard Ehrlich 3, Oliver Feldman, Jake Oliver

If you like pasta and you like shellfish, eating them on a single plate at Anima will yield happy results. The homemade ice cream is among the best in London, but tarts and cakes are just as good—and each comes with ice cream, killing two birds with one stone. If you want to come here, book in advance: it’s not unusual for the place to get booked up well ahead for a weekend dinner. And it’s not only the dining room that’s small here. So is the kitchen, barely bigger than a walk-in closet, and when the place is rammed —basically, all the time—you might have a slightly longer wait for your food than you would hope for. No one ever minds. This is a KT institution, and most of the customers are regulars. One dude has booked table for every Friday night until England wins the World Cup or Armageddon, whichever comes first. Anima is BYOB, so bring something special to drink: the Oddbins just up Kentish Town Road is the nearest choice for superior vino. Which is nothing less than what the food deserves. Anima may be just a local Italian, but its cooking can compete with the best in the city. For Kentish Town’s best night out—and we’ve done it a few times—have a cocktail at Knowhere Special followed by dinner here. With a stop-off at Oddbins on the way down." - Richard Ehrlich
