"Sang Hoon Degeimbre reveals his Korean roots in Saint Gilles. In a hip, minimalist interior, he has recruited a kitchen team that crafts an extensive range of dishes to share, ranging from gutsy stocks and hot pots to kimchi. Dig into the decadently addictive Korean-style fried chicken with a sweet, spicy sauce. The antithesis of fussy, but with lashings of traditional generosity." - Michelin Inspector

Tom Sietsema Gives Anju Korean Restaurant a 3-Star Review | Eater DC

"I gave Anju a rare three-star (excellent) review yesterday, saying it has only gotten better since its impressive August opening that landed it at No. 9 in my fall dining guide. I often restrain myself from eating large portions to keep restaurants guessing, but I couldn't hold back in the face of steamed, "surprisingly light" pork dumplings and a kimchi pancake that was "thinner than most, crisp throughout and red with kimchi brine." Roasted sweet potatoes topped with honey butter, mint, basil, and a sesame oil foam are a "bliss dish," and the tornado potato doused with furikake is more than a visual trick — "picture a Slinky on your plate, dip clinging to chips, a marvelous mess." My only minor issues were run-ins with less attentive servers and food that sometimes comes out surprisingly fast. Earlier, Washingtonian critic Ann Limpert gave Anju 3.5 stars and labeled it her "restaurant of the year" for 2019." - Gabe Hiatt

Very nice experience, second time for me and it didnt dissapoint. Some new dishes, but delicious. We tried every dish on the menu, not all on the pictures. When they say spicy, its still quite mild.

The below picture is the main dish. One third of a zucchini in a butter sauce. 20 euros. Hate being made a fool. Food was NOT excellent, it was just ok. We ordered noodles, got pancakes. Music was EDM or some trans/rave, made me very anxious trying to have a calm nice evening and enjoy my dinner. Definately not the music for a restaurant. Dessert was the rice ice cream which was good. Overpriced and no leverage.

Visited ANJU with high expectations with it being a Michelin Bib Gourmand, but this turned out to be a massive disappointment. The quality and recipe of the food are so compromised that it's almost unrecognisable as Korean anymore. For their low standards, the food is definitely overpriced. To be sure, we did not see a Korean chef in their kitchen. In short: it's a profit-conscious F&B establishment that sells itself as exotic Korean food but is neither authentic nor creative. Just a gimmick. The earlier 2-star review by a Korean is 100% true. Please save yourself the disappointment and skip this. My guess is that they once had a good Korean chef but he / she has left. In particular, we do recommend avoiding their samgyetang at all costs. 1. They don't use black chicken - the google menu pic is inaccurately taken from an old review showing what an authentic samgyetang should look like. 2. It's not "soup"; it's water. There are no ginseng, jujubes or chestnuts in sight. They clearly haven't invested the time nor effort to make the authentic broth that it's supposed to be. 3. They threw rice into the soup, when it should really be stuffed into the chicken. It's not glutinous rice as it should be. 4. Given how bland their samgyetang is, not sure why they are still so stingy with it. The bowl was barely half-full when served. 5. No pepper salt was provided, even worse when you realise how tragically tasteless the food is. Also, their menu encourages you to order mains so you get some banchan. Authentic Korean food places serve banchan free-flow and it's good. Their banchan is in laughably small portions and the kimchi way too sour. Perilla leaves were a nice touch but unfortunately not fresh - see pic.

Had a delicious and beautifully prepared lunch. However, the experience was soured by the seating arrangement: despite the restaurant being nearly empty when we arrived, we were only offered the counter by the window—which wasn’t very comfortable. I asked twice to sit at a regular table, but was refused, only to watch another table of two without a reservation be seated comfortably right after us. Great food and nice service overall.

Amazing exprience. Impeccable of food and service. Would definitely come back! Completely obsessed with the pancakes. Also requested some extra spicy sauce and they gave me some specially for us. Big thank you to the anju team ❤️

Arrived way early and was offered to sit at the front table at the window. Eclectic and interesting wine choices. Service was attentive and friendly. Even after we finished our starters, we were given a choice to wait a bit on our mains or have them started asap. Love that level of service. Food was absolutely delicious. Everything from starters to dessert. And service was quick and on point. Anju is in a quiet neighborhood, and it was worth the walk/trek from the city center. So fun to experience Korean cuisine in Brussels. And especially one that delivers to this caliber.

Wonderful. After a stressful day, I needed a dinner warming heart and stomach. The Anju managed to fulfill my needs. I very much enjoyed being there!

Hiiiiiiiiiigh level Koreans here. Hiiiiiiiiigh level. Amazing everything, first of all . Best kimchi, it felt perfectly fermented in my mouth and the quality of the ingredients was very very VERY fresh. I don’t know the names but, like, what were those leafs I made bbq mackerel and rice tacos with at the end??? They tasted like Hoja Santa; the Oaxacan wonder, but more asian and daunting. Service, outstanding. Culinary creativity, holly cow. Location and general ambience, cool and modern. Overall experience, so good I wanted to squanch all night. All in all, everything was packed with right intention. Glad I chose this one place out of the hundreds of others.
