Where to Eat in the Eastern Townships | Eater Montreal

"This city staple — housed in a heritage building — is a colourful, textured, and modern expression of Québécois comfort food. Its bistro philosophy features dishes where tweezers, nitrogen, and thermocirculators are often used to confront aromatic perceptions. Expect shepherd’s pie (or pâté chinois) to be deconstructed and served with horse and/or beef cheek, corn mousse, and airy potato purée. — Allison Van Rassel" - Daniel Bromberg

Joe Beef’s Latest Venture, Mon Lapin, Gets Showered in Shining Reviews | Eater Montreal

"In Sherbrooke, Antidote Foodlab strikes a playful, homey‑but‑gastronomic tone: the out‑there "cucumber steak" (not a steak, just a pickled cucumber) is a thumbs up, a celery‑root entrée with shrimps pleases, and a spiced‑up Cornish hen also delights the table, earning the restaurant three and a half stars." - Tim Forster

We had dinner at AntiDote FoodLab and wow, it was amazing. We started with the Squash and the Antidote Caesar, then had the Shepherd’s Pie and the Beef. Everything was just really well done, super flavorful. I had a gin and tonic and their Cocktail of the Moment, both were so good. For dessert, we shared the Carrot Cake and Black Forest Tart, then finished with a latté. No notes. Our server Fred was great, knew his stuff, and everyone there made us feel really looked after. In a city full of options, Antidote stands out as the remedy for the common restaurant.

Truly unique experience. Very cozy place, a lot of ambiance. Our waitress Megane ( not sure about spelling, sorry) was exceptionally knowledgeable, warm and caring. The dishes were well cooked and well plated. We tasted bison, duck and beef. A little too salty and overwhelmed with dressings to my taste. The description of dessert was misleading. It was supported to include carrot mousse with caramelized carrots, but instead of mousse there was just whipped cream with tiny microscopic pieces of carrots, barely noticeable. Anyway was eaten with pleasure. Interesting cocktails with unusual ingredients. Good choice of wines. Definitely place to remember and return.

We googled best restaurants in Sherbrooke, Quebec and were intrigued by the horse cheek Shepherd’s Pie (shepherd’s pie being my partner’s favorite dish). Came in late night with no real expectations and we were honestly blown away with the ambience, service and food. In the uber ride over, our driver said he dropped three separate groups at that restaurant the same night, so we knew we were going somewhere great. We opted to sit at the bar since we knew the kitchen/restaurant were getting ready to start shutting down. The bartender/our server - Corinne, was warm, extremely knowledgeable, had amazing recommendations and explained every dish with remarkable detail. We had the bison carpaccio and duck tartare to start, then the shepherd’s pie and duck breast as our mains and the sea buckthorn tarte for dessert. To drink, I had an espresso martini and my partner was extremely pleased with the corn on the cob cocktail (sounds wild but so so so good!). We both had the Pinot noir with dinner, as per Corinne’s recommendations and it went so well with our meals. The restaurant is in what appears to be an old textile factory, and they pay homage to that with the cellar-esque vibe, sewing machine decor, and stylish aprons and mixed glassware. We thought we’d have an interesting late night meal and ended up having one of the best meals we’ve ever had with amazing service and the coolest vibe. 10/10 would recommend! *chef’s kiss*

My wife and I spontaneously decided to have supper here. We sat at the bar with a view of the kitchen, and our server who was also the bartender (Xavier) made our evening with his hospitality. Food was unbelievable. Recommended for anyone looking for phenomenal food and drinks in a unique atmosphere. A truly gastronomic experience.

Google
Amazing restaurant experience!! The atmosphere is amazing, I believe the building is a repurposed factory but is super cozy and has nice ambient lighting. It was the best atmosphere for a date. The menu consists creative takes on classics like ceasar salad, Shepard’s pie, carrot cake, salmon and more. They put their own spin on things that are familiar! We would the food here actually quite filling. The service was great too. I will for sure visit again if I am in the area.

Google
An actual hidden gem, I’m not from this town. However, I was debating between this place or another two. Used the spin the wheel app to make my decision. And fate has landed on Antitode. From the service (thank you Gabriel) to the food, to the little details, to the beautiful plates, to the ambiance, well as the cleanliness! The toilet was sparkling. I loved every single dish. Every single bite was heavenly. Gabriel, our server was very knowledgeable, explanations of the dishes were professional. I even asked him to surprise me for my cocktail options since I’m not really a fan of wine. They do have a huge wine list. From what I noticed, every single team member was well mannered, qualified, and has profound professionalism. Mind you, I’m very picky with my food. As well as indecisive, however they have a very short menu so it was very easy for me to pick. I also worked in hospitality service. So I know you guys are doing something right. The lighting is very dim. To match its ambiance. So it’s very hard to take pictures that do the restaurant some justice. If you’re reading this review, and debating weather to go or not. I highly recommend. PS. Don’t give up on finding the restaurant. It’s quite hard to locate. Maybe because I’m not from this town. 5 stars all around.

Yelp
Great spot with great food. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. The sauce included in both main entrees was unreal. Also had a great dessert called Asian Style Reese. Very cool and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go back again in the future.

Yelp
One of a kind experience in Sherbrooke!!!!! This place takes food to the next level. Situated in an old mill building, this place delivers ambiance, charm and romance in addition to the dining experience. It is a farm to table small menu, that delivers dishes made from seasonal and local ingredients. They do offer a vegan meal on the menu that looked very nice. I had the foie grass for appetizer and duck for main course. Each dish elevates flavors and textures to a new level. Every bite is surprisingly appetizing to the pallet and you are looking forward to the next bite while savoring the first one. The staff takes their time to explain each dish and they are professional and courteous. They do have a full bar and a nice wine selection. A MUST while you are in Sherbrooke!

Yelp
Ambiance A+ Service A+ Food A+ Here's what I'll say - it was the care in which each dish was delivered and described in great detail that your first bite took you to some other culinary planet. We were fortunate enough to be seated at the bar. Gabriel, a mixologist AND server made our night exceedingly special. The food, even more so. Bravo to Antidote Foodlab. This evening left an indelible mark on our foodie brains.

Yelp
What an excellent evening, the food was awesome! Our waitress Violet was great, very friendly and helpful all evening. Everything we ordered was a new experience, the tastes were off the chart and the presentation was a work of art. Highly recommended if you're ever in the area.

Yelp
Best restaurant in a long time. Very friendly staff especially the waitress. And yes they speak English - which I do not expect in Quebec. The restaurant is a modern - old style with lots of stone and wood. I had the seafood salad as a starter, followed by the trout and as desert the Crackerjack - ice cream covered in popcorn. They really put a lot of effort in their food and preparation. It looked good and it tasted well! I will definitely come back here.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant and extremely reasonably priced. Food was amazing. Creative dishes and loved the flavour profile of each and every dish. We were on a road trip so our kids came along as well (under 9 yr old) ...the server offered to whip up some yummy carbonara pasta and both kids loved it. Appetizers were under $15 and Mains were between $20-30, desserts all under $10. Ambience 5/5....semi-casual rustic chic decor Food & Presentation 5/5...top notch creative food Service 4.5/5 ...very professional staff, just a little slow at times Would highly recommend this place

Yelp
I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant. First, let's start with the food. I've eaten at top rated restaurants in Canada and the US, and the food here was better than all of them. And, at a fraction of the price. Highly recommend the "chicken Parmesan" appetizer and the "beets, beets, beets" main. The desserts are also out of this world. Second the service is excellent. The staff are welcoming and all bilingual. Very warm, friendly and attentive. The ambiance is also lovely, although the place can be a bit hard to find; in the basement of a commercial building, so easy to miss. Make sure you find it, you will not regret it! Call ahead and make a reservation so you are not disappointed, it fills up even on weeknights.

Yelp
The menu is not extensive but the food was interesting and delicious! The service was superb. We were well looked after and made to feel comfortable and welcome.

Yelp
Been here 4 times now. The menu is underwhelming. They're trying too hard and the flavors aren't well developed. Meat is often overlooked. Beer selection is lacking given the local options. This last time they ignored me for 10 minutes. Then one waitress said she could find me a seat, only then to have some waiter tell me they couldn't seat me even though there were 5 open seats at the bar. Won't be going back here. Not worth dealing with their attitude for overhyped and disappointing food.

Yelp
If I could I would give them more stars!!! Simply outstanding food, service and atmosphere. How is this restaurant not on one of the Food Networks best of shows... The food is amazing and unique. Thank you for a wonderful Friday evening in Sherbrooke and meeting a great Chef and Owner that loves what they are doing!!!

Yelp
This restaurant was absolutely amazing!! We arrived late-after 9pm and had 3 hungry teens with us. We had no idea what to expect. The girls loved the food as did my husband and I. Very different menu options, but milder options as well if you are not adventurous. The popcorn ice cream was to die for!! The service was impeccable as well!

Yelp
Food was delicious! We sat at the bar (couldn't get table reservations late on Friday afternoon). We had full view of both the bar area and the kitchen. It was fascinating!
