"Popular among Sweetwater residents, this unassuming taco shop offers an array of traditional tacos, from beef to pastor, and favorites like pork skin quesadillas, choriqueso, and well-filled burritos. Seating is limited, so to-go orders are encouraged." - Olee Fowler

Where to Find Outstanding Tacos in Miami

"Antojitos Mexicanos Tenorio is a Mexican restaurant in a Kendall strip mall. They have a vertical spit to make tacos al pastor the right way, and they are excellent: a deep sunset red color, just a little smokey, and with a good balance of crunchy charred bits and rich juicy pieces. The carnitas tacos aren’t far behind and feature confit pork that pulls apart with zero resistance. The excellent chorizo taco uses leaner Mexican chorizo crumbled into big chunks, eliminating the trail of red grease that usually flows down our forearms when we eat chorizo tacos. But don’t leave without also ordering the alambre." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

"Alambre Before we checked out Antojitos Mexicanos Tenorio in Kendall, we thought we had to go down to Homestead to find one of our favorite Mexican dishes: alambre. Not only are we glad we don’t have to make that odyssey, but we’re happy that we’ve found the best version in Miami. An alambre is essentially a cheesy multi-meat fajita platter. The version here starts with a base of stretchy Oaxaca cheese on the plancha. It gets loaded up with sauteed steak, chorizo, ham, bacon, onions, and peppers. Once the cheese is good and bubbly, the whole thing gets flipped over onto a plate so that the crusty, golden-brown cheese is on top. The next step: dig in with your fork and load up a tortilla with the super decadent filling." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

"Antojitos Mexicanos Tenorio is a casual Mexican restaurant in a Kendall strip mall. They have an actual vertical spit to make tacos al pastor the right way, and they are excellent: a deep sunset red in color from achiote, just a little smokey, and with a good balance of crunchy charred bits and rich juicy pieces. If you order one thing here, though, it should be the alambre, a sizzling fajita plate with a mix of carne asada, chorizo, ham, bacon, onions, peppers, and topped with a layer of griddled Oaxaca cheese that’s crispy on the top and melty and stretchy underneath." - Carlos C Olaechea

Google
We ordered combos #6 burrito and taco with carne asada as protein, and #10 tostadas with chicken as protein, everything was tasty and delicious. Olga was friendly and courteous.

Authentic Mexican dishes! Small menu but everything is delicious. Family friendly environment and quick service.

We hadn't initially planned on eating Mexican food that day, but with an 80-minute wait at the nearby Dominican restaurant, we needed an alternative. To our delight, the food turned out to be fantastic! Fabi, our waitress, was incredibly patient, answered all our questions, and made our dining experience very enjoyable. We tried the combos, and I highly recommend the homemade sauce—it's amazing. Definitely give this place a try!

Google
So I like to taco hop and try authentic Mexican restaurant this place definitely is on my top 10 list. Although a very small restaurant in the shopping center a little difficult to find once you’re inside the food is very good authentic and not too expensive. Everything is made fresh to order, so nothing is still or premade and it doesn’t come out of a box. They do use the most fresh ingredients And the value is outstanding. Definitely a place I will be back.

Google
Best Mexican food i ever had. Everything was freshly made. And hot sauce was good, really good. Desert(flan, tres leches cake) we ordered were out of the world. chicken enchiladas, torta, burrito, chalupa were best.

Google
Best Mexican food in Kendall 🇲🇽 If I could give this place a 10 star rating I would! Such a great family owned local restaurant, the owner Tenorio was the one who took our order and he was so sweet and had a very welcoming character. He satisfied my spicy cravings and let me tell you the green sauce was so delicious and SPICY. Overall the food was exceptional and it tasted authentic. The cherry on top is that they sell Michoacana paletas and that’s my favorite ice cream.

Nataly Blanco

Google
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Miami. Family owned authentic food. Their Al pastor is incredible. They have added a new exciting this to their menu such as the loaded fries (which were huge) and the mega burrito. Cannot recommend enough

We stopped by for a quick lunch and everything was amazing except the enchiladas. The enchiladas were too sour and the chicken tasted old. The tacos were amazing, the tostada was really good and the servers were really nice and attentive.

Yelp
This was our first time and will definitely not be our last! This is a small, family run restaurant found in a busy shopping mall. The food is all homemade with mami and papi working in the kitchen. We started with the Tenochips for an appetizer. At first glance the appetizer seemed rather small, but don't let the size fool you. It was absolutely delicious and well seasoned. It turned out to be the perfect size for two people to share. We had steak as our protein. Very delicious and flavorful! The chips are thicker than most places, and not greasy! The pico, steak, and beans very flavorful! My husband who is gluten free ordered Tacos with corn tortillas. Their tacos all come with onions and cilantro on top, typical for Mexico, which means the seasoning on the protein has to shine. He had an Al Pastor, chorizo, steak, and chicken taco. All of them were cooked to perfection. Nothing dry about the protein. The Al Pastor seasoning was very good. The chicken tacos were not grilled but made of moist shredded chicken... not dry at all. The chorizo taco has a hint of cinnamon which really surprised us in a good way. Very flavorful and not greasy in the slightest. Overall his favorite protein was the steak. Their prices are very reasonable. Portions are not large but just enough so you leave feeling satisfied. The staff we met are all part of the family. Very welcoming, friendly and ready to answer any questions you might have. Overall, I would describe this place as a little taste of Mexico! Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
I've come to this place several times. Their food is really good! So I'd definitely recommend it for their taste. But man have they gotten pricey. Only reason why I'm giving it a four star. The workers are nice and pleasant. It was pretty empty when we went, maybe like a table or two apart from my group. We ordered the nachos with carne asada on them. Those chips they make there are my favorite! They are so crispy and taste good. We also had the carne asada fries which I've never had before but they were delicious, portion is really big and the fries surprisingly were still crispy. Their carnitas tacos are usually my favorite to order but this time they were still good but the portion of meat was smaller than before and it wasn't juicy like I've had it before. The tacos I ordered is a combo so it also comes with a cheese quesadilla which is really good and cheesy. Along with a small portion of Mexican rice and refried beans. I remember this combo maybe being around $9-10 or so and now they're $15! My table also got their tostadas which are $5ish each with no protein ($2 more with) and I don't think it's worth the price. So if you don't mind paying for the food, it's pretty tasty. I just don't think some things are worth the price they have then at.

Yelp
Good was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, tender, and well seasoned. Although I prefer the birria slightly spicier, it was delicious and there was a good portion of meat and cheese on there. The steak taco could've used a better quality steak but was yummy nonetheless. Service was great as well, it was empty when I came in but this place does deserve the hype as long as they keep doing what they doing with their quality and portion of food. The restaurant was very comforting and you can tell it's family owned

Yelp
Ordered some tacos and a combo meal to-go and it was so yummy. The staff was very sweet over the phone and answered all our questions. The combo came with two tacos and a quesadilla along with some chips and pico de gallo. The combo was very filling and was enough to split between two people, granted we weren't starving. We also got an order of their guacamole and we're very impressed. The guac along with the pico were very fresh and the pit in the guac was a funny little touch. To drink I tried their pineapple agua fresca and it was deeeelicious! Overall, the meal was very filling and was made with quality ingredients. I will definitely return again. It's definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in Kendall!

Liz M.

Yelp
I was at my best friend's house and we were both craving some Mexican food. It's difficult to come across an authentic Mexican restaurant. This place far exceeded our expectations. It's a little quaint spot, very cozy ambience. We ordered chips and guacamole and it was delicious. Chips were crisp and fresh. The guacamole was fresh as well. My friend ordered fajitas (with no peppers, I know it's absurd) and I had the two Al pastor tacos and a quesadilla. Oh and of course an ice cold beer. Al pastor tacos were incredible. The service was a little slow but I think the server was new and still lacking training but I can't take stars off for that. We will definitely be coming back.

John L.

Yelp
One of the best family run Mexican restaurants I've been to in the area. Loved their tacos and the prices are absolutely reasonable, although they are slated to increase their prices soon! Come get some tacos while they are a steal. The al pastor was great, pollo was NOT, I repeat NOT dry, and the carne asada is probably one of the best I've had in Miami. This place is added to my list of hole in the wall places to bring friends and family when they want some great tacos. The only thing is that this is not a late night place like your typical taco food truck, so make sure you come or order take out earlier in the day. As a small family run restaurant, the decor and ambiance was just ok. The dim white office lighting made me feel some type of way. Could use a little updating, but then again... I think that would not make this a hole-in-the-wall type place anymore. Other than that, the service was warm and welcoming.

Therese P.

Yelp
Everything here is fantastic. I'm a simple bitch, I live their cheese quesadilla and their fresh guacamole. When I'm feeling fancy, I get their sopes. This place is legit.

Oscar D.

Yelp
Food. The chips were home made. They were thick and drenched in oil. Far from the best. Margaritas were good. Far from the best. Service. I arrived with a wheelchair. I could not get past the bump at the entrance. A waitress offered help but just watched. I was enfuriated. The ambience was humble. Please take this restaurant off of your "the Best Tacos" list.

Yelp
This place was amazing! The tacos were equally exceptional. We tried a variety, including the classic al pastor and it was very flavorful. The tortillas were freshly made, adding a soft, authentic touch to each taco. Each bite was a perfect balance of textures and flavors, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to traditional Mexican cuisine. the fajitas, a standout dish that truly impressed. The platter arrived with an enticing aroma, featuring a generous portion of perfectly grilled chicken accompanied by vibrant bell peppers and onions. Each bite was a harmonious blend of smoky and savory, with the seasoning just right. The dish came with warm tortillas and a variety of fresh toppings, allowing us to customize each fajita to our liking. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience. Antojitos Mexicanos Tenorio continues to impress with its vibrant, flavorful offerings and attentive service, making it a must-visit for anyone craving genuine Mexican dishes.

Anaeli B.

Yelp
Came to Antojitos Mexicano after seeing it on Yelp. Great choice! Family of three had dinner for around $50 (including appetizer, tip, and one beer). I decided on the combo platter that includes a quesadilla, soft taco, and (upon the waitress' suggestion) a sopa. My meal was very tasty and fresh. Everyone in my party was pleased with their food. Although the portions looked small, the meal proved plentiful and I left full and happy! The people in the restaurant could not have been nicer. They were extremely attentive and answered every question we had. We closed the place, yet at no time did I feel rushed or pressured to eat quickly or leave. Overall, great meal and genuinely nice experience. We will return.

Aida A.

Yelp
We have been to Antojitos Mexicanos Tenorio two times for lunch. The restaurant is a small family run restaurant, nicely decorated and cute. The first time I visited this restaurant, I had a CHICKEN BURRITO with chips and pico the gallo that was DELICIOUS. The second time, I had Steak Tacos, Quesadilla, chips, and pico de gallo. The steak tacos were so so. My husband had a Burrito and Steak Taco with rice and beans. His food was good. Servers are friendly and helpful.

Melissa V.

Yelp
Little local Kendall Gem. Want some authentic Mexican food without driving all the way to homestead, need to try this spot. I've been here in several occasions and have not been disappointed once. Their prices are reasonable. Try out their Al pastor tacos, green enchiladas and sopes!

Ana F.

Yelp
What a great find! Came here for lunch on Cinco de Mayo. The food was so authentic. They sell a craft beer, Monopolio, that I had never tried before but wish I could find locally. Service was quick. Waitress was attentive and recommended the guacamole which was in point. The place is very clean with lots of tables. The kitchen is almost like an open concept. The kitchen staff can be seen through a glass. Would definitely be back!

Oscar T.

Yelp
Wow!! What a gem this place is! Took the advice of a friend and went to check it for dinner last night. Family owned, family operated, and family recipes! Great location in West Kendall, in the Miller Square Shopping center. Very friendly service, and the food came out very quick! We had the Tenochips with fresh guacamole and it was delicious. The chips were perfectly baked, and had a nice crisp snap to them. The guacamole comes out in a small Styrofoam bowl, which makes me think they pre-portioned them ahead of time, but it tasted fresh, and we loved it. For entrées, we got the burrito with Carne Asada, and the Birria Tacos, which is not on the menu, but just ask for them ... They're amazing! The prices are extremely reasonable too! So happy to find this place in my area, and will definitely be coming back to try additional items!

Christine Z.

Yelp
My favorite place for Mexican food. The food is delicious. Service is great. Authentic place for decent prices.

Alan R.

Yelp
This was an amazing, authentic Mexican restaurant. Very authentic. The service was quick and very friendly. Food was fantastic and tasty - the "choriqueso" appetizer was insanely cheesy and just the right amount of chorizo, with freshly made chips. The birria tacos were delicious - not overwhelming and cooked just right. My wife's carne asada tostada was fresh, crispy and savory. Kids quesadilla was unique as it was made with fresh cheese and chips were the same as the appetizer. The kids chicken tacos were the best we've had in terms of kids meals (finely shredded chicken marinated in juices). Horchata was refreshing with a dash of cinnamon. Prices were amazing for the quality.

Gabriel R.

Yelp
Excellent food and very friendly service. We have been here several times and the food doesn't disappoint! Very reasonable prices as well.. we will definitely be back!

Jason S.

Yelp
We loved the food. The service was very quick and friendly. Definitely get one of the custom t-shirts.

Patricia O.

Yelp
Great food so good all around restaurant. Pick with yours eyes closed and you will not be disappointed. The service is quick and efficient.

Ellie B.

Yelp
Ok so this place was highly recommended by people online, so we decided to try it out. We had the chicken Burrito/taco combo, the chicken taco and tostada combo as well as some nachos. The prices are super nice and the portions are appropriate but honestly the seasoning was non existent. For mexican food it was very bland. It may just be the chicken but that's all we tried so that's our take. We were supposed to get some guacamole with our food but it was not packed in our to go bag when we got home so we sadly didn't get to try it. Also the nachos were the best part of the experience by far. So therefore, we are still on the hunt for amazing Mexican.

Rocío R.

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant is hidden gem! It sits in the back of a busy shopping center near my home - and if it weren't for a friend, I would've never taken notice. I was told that the steak burrito is a "must try," but I initially was a bit reluctant. I pictured a mega monster burrito, that could quickly turn into a nightmare dilema. My expectations, thankfully, were wrong, and the size is JUST right. They neatly pack it with all the right, delicious toppings, and before you know it, you've devoured it all. I also ordered, and highly suggest the Baja tacos. They come with a tiny cup of a soup (not sure what it's called) but it's fantastic as well. If you're in the mood for Mexican food, this restaurant hits the spot.

Zuleika S.

Yelp
The service was really good. The food was excellent and the prices are affordable. It had nice music and comfortable seating. I will definitely want to come back again.

Freddy F.

Yelp
Has to be the best Mexican restaurant in the Kendall hammocks area. Family owned super authentic, great pricing and the quality never left after they moved into their bigger restaurant. I always get the burrito with a Taco in The pico fresh vegetables, soft tortillas great atmosphere a myat if your Meixan fanatic.

Miguel C.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite Friday night. Had the guacamole and Tacos al Pastor. Friendly and fast service with a smile. Great family place and the food was very good.

Laynet P.

Yelp
This little family-owned restaurant has been climbing the list of top Mexican spots in Miami. In fact, I am confident that this is the best Mexican restaurant in Kendall. They have perfectly crafted combo options for those who struggle with indecisiveness or just want to try different dishes. It would be hard for me to choose one favorite dish but my go-to is the two tacos and tostada combo. The birria tacos are also a must have. The rice and beans are my favorite out of all the Mexican restaurants I have been to, and I have been to plenty. The only thing I would like for them to improve are the margaritas. It tastes like they use store bought mix, I would prefer a more natural and freshly made mix. I can't finish this review without commenting on their amazing customer service. The servers are always so friendly, to the point that they went through their music playlist to help me find a song that had previously played. When he's not in the kitchen, the owner is greeting customers, helping process the takeout orders and even cleaning the tables. I am not exaggerating when I say that I order takeout from here at least once a week.

Marcela L.

Yelp
Excellent Food!!! Quality is very good and the prices are reasonable!! We ordered the tostada was delicious! And the tacos even better!!

John R.

Yelp
Amazing experience and diverse menu I was very happy to come here. Will definitely be coming back often and I loved every bit of it. Not expensive at all and great help from the staff 10 out of 10!

Gelo M.

Yelp
Used to go when they had a much smaller space, and mostly ordered their combos for take out. Now I prefer to sit down and try whatever new dishes they add to the menu, never been disappointed.

Abilene P.

Yelp
Please order their guacamole. It seems basic, but if you order it you'll know it's anything but basic. I love how they include the pit for maximum freshness.

Landy G.

Yelp
Staff if always so welcoming. Great food. The tacos are excellent. Very good prices. So much to like about this place. It's def one of my faves in my area that I often visit.

Nurdes G.

Yelp
The food is delicious and we always have a great time. We've gone about 4 times already and looking forward to going back.

Amilkar M.

Yelp
Excelente comida y muy buena atención. Precios son muy razonables. Lo recomiendo. La

Yelp
This restaurant is tucked away in the back of a shopping mall on the left side of Publix. What an amazing find for our family as this is as close to authentic as it gets. Mexican food in Kendall is hard to find and authentic well you will have to run off to Homestead or literally hop on a flight to Mexico! This establishment has an amazing service and the food is spot on. We were so busy eating forgot to take better photos. Trust me when I say please go over there and enjoy this amazing establishment. Servers are so great and the food comes out fast. You can see the kitchen and they are working their magic. The sauces especially the habanero is fantastic. Taco, enchilada, quesadillas are simply amazing just do it with the combo and try the rice! The nachos with cheese is also something you all should try. The chips are really awesome and authentic as I have tried these in Mexico. Also try some Mexican colas.

Ryan D.

Yelp
Hey guys, Ryan Demere Here! And I say this is the Best mexican food in all Miami! APPROVED! -R. Demere

Maria B.

Yelp
I have been going to this place whenever I want authentic Mexican food since it was a little hole in the wall in their last location. During the pandemic they were able to expand to a bigger location and business is booming! I am so happy for the owners and I am glad that although they have expanded, their flavors, menu and prices have remained the same. I highly recommend this restaurant for Mexican food as their plates, flavor and ambiance is quite authentic. I promise you won't regret giving this one a shot.

Obed R.

Yelp
For our first time, the food was well prepared and presented. The service was attentive and responsive when we needed something. The ambiance is simple but comfortable. A place a definitely plan to visit again.

Jenny R.

Yelp
The BEST hands down local Mexican restaurant The food is delicious, definitely a must try It will never disappoint

Manela G.

Yelp
We had been craving mexican food and decided to try this place. We decided to get choriqueso, and it was okay. The cheese was melted but the iron pot it comes in quickly got cold and the cheese felt too tough and rubbery, not creamy enough to dip chips in it. I had the alambre and my partner enchiladas, both came with the same cheese on top that had been melted but quickly got cold and became rubber like. The alambre was not what I was hoping, it was tiny pieces of overcooked meats that would have been better off if they had come in a sizzling iron cast to keep it warm. Portions are small, quality below average and prices are a bit high for what you get.

Dave C.

Yelp
Best Authentic Mexican (Central Mexico) antojitos (cravings/comfort food). No frills & all flavor. They recently moved and upgraded from a hole in the wall where they were located by several years to a full service restaurant. Great prices! This is a 100% Mexican family owned and operated place. Literally all the family works in the restaurant. Enjoy good food while supporting locals.

Mercedes D.

Yelp
THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD! This place is absolutely delicious. Family owned Very affordable as well !

Mayra S.

Yelp
Wonderful authentic Mexican food in Miller Square. I had never had Chilaquiles and the super nice server recommended it. It was amazing! This is a small family owned establishment and you can tell that they live what they do. The food is amazing, the service is friendly and I can't wait to go back.

Noe C.

Yelp
Went on Cinco de Mayo had the guac, quesadilla, margarita and Micheladas. The food was good I would've liked to have been able to order nachos but given that it was cinco de Mayo they had a sowcia

Emilio M.

Yelp
Great little restaurant with a great big tasting food. Highly recommend. Absolutely love this type of establishments

Lianny P.

Yelp
We passed by and saw this Mexican Restaurant and wanted to try it. It was ok. Food needed a little more flavor but overall nice place to eat.

Natasha M.

Yelp
This place has since moved from it's original location. While this new place doesnt feel as at home in such a tight knit spot with all the great family photos and newspaper clippings surrounding you, this new place guarantees you a seat and table service. I'm a sucker for open kitchens and while they maintained the integrity of a kitchen window, it's a little different without the turning meat in your face. Overall the food is the same. A little more dressed up but still just as delicious. We also finally got a taste of their dessert. Something previously coveted everytime they ran out on past visits. We took their flan and tres leches to go. Tres leches for the win for sure, the flan felt dense and a little bitter tasting in its caramel. Looking forward to how this place develops in it's new spot. Even happier it's that much closer to my house!

Devynn H.

Yelp
Being from Arizona, I am CONSTANTLY searching for Mexican food that makes me feel like I'm home. I happened to be in the area of this little shop and figured, "it's dinnertime, let me stop in." I ordered the #8, it comes with two tacos, a tostada, chips, pico and a canned soda. I chose to order two carne asada tacos, and I upgraded my tostada to include chicken. The menu is limited, but it seems like a family owned and run restaurant, which I love to support. It took about 10 minutes for my food to arrive, and I noticed there was a small container of pico, but I kept searching the room for a salsa bar. None in sight. Now this, this was a little disappointing to me. My tacos were stuffed to the brim with carne, fresh onions and tons of cilantro, the best way to have tacos in my personal opinion. The meat wasn't top quality, but it was cut into small pieces and was nice and hot. After taking a bite of my tostada, I was desperate for some salsa, there was no cilantro to spice up the tostada and I was searching for some more flavor. I finally spotted two squeeze bottles of salsa across the room and asked if I could use them. There was green and red and they were perfect. Now my tostada was complete. Overall, this little shop was a hit and I will definitely return. On my way out, I saw a family with guacamole; didn't see it on the menu, but 100% ordering that next time.

Charles S.

Yelp
Almost anything your order here is great, I've been coming here for atleast 5 years. Prices are great, there isn't much of a wait time, and the food comes fast also.

Zurelys B.

Yelp
Espectacular la comida , super deliciosa recomendado . Las tostadas de carne asada excelentes .
