"Archie’s Cafe is less like a restaurant and more like hanging out at a friend's house where your meal is determined by whatever is in the fridge. Certain nights are devoted to either pizza or pasta, while on the weekends it functions as an all-day cafe where you'll find yourself drinking coffee while eating eggs and bacon, or grabbing a beer with tacos. Regulars constantly fill up the seats, creating a feeling of community with a motley crew of Loyola students and residents who have lived in the neighborhood for decades. Archie's also showcases local talent, so there's always rotating artwork from Chicago artists as well as musical performances until their “midnightish” closing time." - john ringor, veda kilaru
"Archie’s Cafe is a casual Rogers Park spot that feels more like hanging out at a friend’s house than a restaurant. It has coffee, booze, and a rotating food menu. Certain weeknights are devoted to pizza or whatever else they feel like cooking up, but on weekends Archie’s functions as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot with everything from breakfast sandwiches to tacos. During the summer, Archie's frequently has musicians performing on the sidewalk, from lunchtime acoustic guitar sets to full-fledged jam sessions that end at their “midnightish” closing time." - john ringor
"Archie’s Cafe is a casual Rogers Park spot that feels more like having dinner at a friend’s house than a restaurant. They have coffee, booze, and a rotating food menu with a little bit of everything. Certain nights focus on pizza or pasta, and on weekends, Archie’s functions as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot with everything from breakfast sandwiches to tacos. During the summer, you can catch solo guitar sets on the sidewalk, while in the colder months, a jam session might be using their side room and upright piano until the “midnightish” closing time." - john ringor, nick allen
"Archie’s Cafe, a six-year-old coffee house and gathering spot for artists, will close in August at 1228 W. Loyola Avenue, according to Block Club Chicago. Loyola University purchased the building and intends to raze it once all its current leases expire, the university’s vice president of capital planning told The Loyola Phoenix. In addition to Archie’s, the structure houses Roman Susan art space, Edge Art Gallery, and 35 apartments. Supporters of the cafe aim to raise $20,000 via GoFundMe “to help compensate for the unanticipated dissolving of the business, livelihood, and debt incurred.”" - Ashok Selvam
"Archie’s Cafe is a casual Rogers Park spot that feels less like a restaurant and more like hanging out at a friend's house where what you eat is determined by whatever happens to be in the fridge that day. Certain nights are devoted to pizza or pasta, while on weekends it functions as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot where you're as likely to find yourself sipping on a White Claw with a breakfast sandwich as grabbing a beer with tacos. Though the constantly changing menu might not work for people who grow attached to dishes like moss on a tree, locals love the unpredictability. Regulars constantly fill up the seats, creating a feeling of community like you're part of the family from Cheaper By The Dozen. Archie's also doubles as a space to showcase local talent, so there's always rotating artwork from Chicago artists as well as live musical acts performing until the “midnightish” closing time." - John Ringor
