Neighborhood grocery store selling dry goods, produce & liquor, plus a famed deli turkey sandwich.
"Arguello Market is a grocery store in the Richmond that also happens to make a phenomenal roasted turkey sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll. It’s so great, in fact, that we actually refer to Arguello Market as The Turkey Sandwich Emporium. Their deli case also has plenty of other housemade pastas and salads. Get whatever looks good, and don’t leave without stocking up on drinks and chips." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong
"The chalkboard at this Richmond grocery store boldly claims their turkey sandwich is “World Famous.” And while that may not necessarily be true, it’s at the very least deserving of being a local celebrity. This thing is hefty, stuffed with a mix of white and dark meat, with lettuce, tomato, and all the other usual fixings (always go dutch crunch). For $11.95, it’s a filling pick-up option on the way to a picnic at Golden Gate Park—plus, you can get sodas, crackers, and other snacky essentials while you’re there." - Julia Chen
"The Park: Conservatory of Flowers The roast turkey sandwich from Arguello Market is, according to the handwritten menu board above the deli case, “World Famous.” While that might not be completely true, it’s at the very least a local celebrity. Thank the tender white and dark turkey meat that takes up 60% of this sandwich’s real estate for that. All the usual fixings are stacked on a soft roll of choice (go dutch crunch). It’s simple, and it’s flawless. And it’s what you need before making the ten-minute walk to the Conservatory of Flowers, an elite picnic destination, even if you’re not planning on entering the actual botanical garden. "Calling your turkey sandwich the "world's best" is quite a claim, but one thing's for sure: Arguello’s is one of the best in San Francisco. Thick slices of freshly roasted turkey are topped with lettuce, onion, tomato, and pickles — and obviously, you're getting it on Dutch crunch bread. Add pepper jack and avocado to finish it off and if you're feeling crazy, ask them to throw some cranberry sauce on there as well." - Lauren Saria, Justine Jones, Eater Staff
