"You’ll find American cuisine with a farm-to-table ethos at Arlo, located in the Marmalade District near the Utah State Capitol building. Its largely seasonal menu changes often, but frequently features a hearty soup, empanadas, and meats sourced through its sustainable, whole-animal butchery program. Arlo’s vine and pergola-covered patio is the place to be come summer, but its indoor dining room is casual enough for apres-ski dining—even if you’re still sporting a beanie." - Jenny Willden

Arlo is a special place. This is the only restaurant we do our date nights at. Sitting at the chefs counter watching them do their work, drinking nice wine, and eating consistently delicious food genuinely fills our hearts. We have never experienced an “off” night here, the food is very consistent and we’ve always had such nice wait staff. I cannot think of another restaurant that tries unique and interesting flavor combinations in ways you wouldn’t expect. We are always in for a treat when we come here!

My partner and I have our annual Valentine's Day dinner here, and we look forward to it all year. It's one of the best fine dining experiences in SLC, and I highly recommend it. Located in a renovated house near the State Capitol, parking can be tricky at times, so it's best to arrive early to secure a spot nearby. The main dining room is intimate, and the staff and chefs are all friendly. The food is divine—creative, locally sourced, and unforgettable. For appetizers, we ordered the bread and butter and the fish and chips (my personal favorite). The main courses pictured are quail with grits, sweet potato, pickled pear, red cabbage, toasted walnuts, and pomegranate molasses. The other main course is ravioli with chicken confit, seasoned with various herbs, and topped with Parmesan. For dessert, we had the lemon tart with spiced meringue, sumac, and candied orange.

I can’t say enough about this incredible brunch experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between cozy and elevated. The space was comfortable and relaxed, yet refined, making it feel like a special treat without being pretentious. The food, though—wow! Some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Every dish was unique, beautifully crafted, and absolutely delicious. It was clear that the chef’s talent and passion were infused into every bite. The flavors were bold yet perfectly balanced, and each plate felt like a thoughtful masterpiece. On top of that, the staff was so warm and welcoming. And the cheeky descriptions on some of the menu items gave us a chuckle. It added a layer of warmth to an already extraordinary morning. We can’t wait to return.

Creative and tasty, albeit not too large, striped bass dish. The patio is lovely on a clear May evening and the service is adequate. Simple interior. More welcoming service and attention to detail (my water was not refilled) would improve my experience.

We searched for restaurants in SLC that people considered deserving to be in the Michelin guide and Arlo restaurant kept popping up. After our experience here, I completely agree with these people! Very innovative food, exceptional service, and honestly, the prices for each dish were very reasonable. Arlo is located in a quiet neighborhood and has its own parking lot, which is a huge plus (just go down the driveway). Service/Ambiance: The inside has a rustic, modern feel. There were lots of 2-4 person tables that could probably be made into 6 person tables. There’s a whole outdoor area inside a canopy and looked to have ample heat lamps. We opted for the bar seats inside facing the open kitchen and we absolutely loved it. We’re no professional cooks but we appreciated watching the head chef and the other chefs work well together in a calm manner. It was enjoyable seeing them plate each dish. Each dish came out fairly quickly and we didn’t have to wait to finish a dish before the next one came. Shout out to our server Kyle for a great service. Food: The dinner menu is simply laid out in one page, making everything easy to see. Our server explained which parts are appetizers, shareables, and main dishes. My husband and I shared each dish and we were pretty stuffed at the end. Usually in restaurants like this, I can easily say that some dishes are good to skip. But we were pleasantly surprised with each dish and we’d order these same items again. For drinks, I ordered Rum Cocktail ($12) and he ordered Mescal Cocktail ($12). The Rum drink was sweeter, which is how I like my drinks. -Bread and butter ($5): crispy outside and soft in the inside. The thyme was apparent and made it so flavorful that I didn’t have to use too much butter like I usually do with other breads that aren’t as tasty. -Small potatoes ($10): petite whole potatoes in brie fondue, duck fat, and crispy bits— this was surprisingly sooo delicious. Potatoes were cooked nicely and the toppings together worked very well. -Fish and Chips ($9): housemade chips topped with fish. You’d think everything on it was salty but the flavors of each ingredient worked so well together. Must get! -Vegetable Tart ($14): also a must get! -Duck Ravioli ($29): main dish; pasta was cooked nicely and there was a generous amount of duck inside the raviolis. -Lemon Tart ($12): we asked our server what his most favorite dessert was and this is what he said. My husband who usually doesn’t appreciate lemon desserts actually liked this a lot. Overall: We were definitely impressed with Arlo and I highly recommend this restaurant. I believe they have a rotating menu so I’d love to come back here if we’re ever back in the area again. Make sure to make reservations!

Everything was amazingly delicious. The menu and pairings were so intentional and we were mesmerized by the bustling open kitchen. The staff seem genuinely friendly and happy to be there and each dish was not only visually stunning but tasted incredible! 10/10 and we will be coming back again. Worth every penny.

Google
The food was so delicious and portions so small I could've had my entree four times and still been ready for more. We had the bread and butter, risotto, chicken, and lemon meringue tart for dessert. We tried the mescal cocktail and the whiskey cocktail and both were exciting new flavors but not drinks we would have again. The grey monochrome atmosphere stands out against most restaurants in salt lake but we were not impressed with the felt as a trim element. The kitchen is beautiful and intimate and the blue tile saves your eyes from the ocean of grey around you. Our server was a little solemn but very nice. Overall, we had a lot of fun trying Arlo but next time we will have to eat a snack before we go or order more dishes to try. It's refreshing to see a restaurant like Arlo compete in salt lake. I would put Arlo up against Oquirrh, where Oquirrh has better portions and equally as good of food and Arlo has a more elevated setting. Hope to go back soon!

Updated 6/15: I love coming here when I’m in town!! It’s truly a gem with a unique and flavorful menu. The menu changes seasonally and the dishes are always a delight to try. I sometimes enjoy the small plates more than the entrees so I recommend you do not shy away from ordering more than you need! Great restaurant here in Salt Lake City. It’s one whose menu changes on a regular basis and that is a big win for me as it means they have a creative chef who is passionate about trying new things! The location and ambiance are great, although it got pretty loud inside. The food is delicious. I was so impressed with the bread and butter appetizer, it was truly exceptional bread in its flakiness, flavor, texture, and freshness. The butter was also smooth and had a nice/delicate saltiness to it. The other appetizer we tried were the empanadas and these were delicious. Great flavors and textures. Truly a winner. For my entree I had the ravioli and this was good. It was cooked very Al dente which isn’t my favorite but I liked the flavors and the creativity in the dish. My friends had the fish - which was really good and nicely flavored and accented - and the chicken - which was a little underwhelming - and the pasta dish which may have been the best dish as it had layers of flavors that each proceeded one another and it was well plated. The dessert was good too, we had the lemon tart and the chocolate cake. Both were good but didn’t totally blow me away. I am excited to come back and try other items on the menu! Also, this restaurant wasn’t as expensive as other reviews make it sound. While it isn’t cheap, don’t let the other reviews lead you to believe it will be a $100 meal. I think with appetizer, entree, dessert, and a drink, I spent around $50 maybe $60 for myself. The plates are small-ish and it’s not a cheap meal but it’s not completely unreasonable; none of the entrees were more than $32.

Yelp
Arlo never fails to be an exceptional experience. The ever-changing menu is always surprising and so incredibly creative. Descriptions and photos even can never do justice to the food. The depth of flavors, layer upon layer are just astonishing. We always tend to over order because we want to taste so many things and they are all delicious! Last night we went for our anniversary; both the food and the service were both great. The place was busy inside and out. We can highly recommend the bread (always), the chicory salad, the samosas, the risotto!!! and the pasta. The risotto alone was worth going there for--truly a revelation and so beautiful!

Yelp
Ok so being British seeing the picture of "fish and chips" on yelp had me crashing out BUT this place had great reviews and was close to the hotel so I bit my tongue And glad I did! The "fish and chips" was light and though hard to taste the fish had a good taste. Chicory salad was amazing, whatever dressing they had along with the goat cheese really hit all the right spots Vegetable tart was great along with the greens on top, not sure what it was but a single sprig contained great flavour The ravioli was mid, creamy beat, makes for a nice visual when you get into The samosas were damn good, especially the sauce on top Highlight of this was dessert which we nearly skipped on. The chocolate mousse was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH AND (more so than normal mousse) and the cream on top (I hate cream) really had me gobbling and contemplating getting another but alas my a1c scores have been making me ration Anyway, lovely , calm inside with equally calm and lovely service. Downside is the small dishes, as I said. I wanted to gobble. But if you're not a gobbler, then roll on up to arlo

Yelp
quite a delicious brunch with FRIED EGG SANDWICH jalapeno cheddar, dressed arugula, poppy seed bun and sausage tasty but also heavy on salt and super butter potatoes RICE EGG hadfried rice, gochujang, kimchi, two fried eggs, sesame shiitake crumbles. inspired by bibimbap - pretty good shared the salad of roasted beets, best available greens, toasted hazelnut (yummy), sherry maple vinaigrette

Yelp
Went two times and great both times! Very clean, simple, and fun. We were at the bar area the first time and then went for the outdoors seating the second time. Both areas were nice; indoors was definitely more of a dimmer and heavier ambiance because we went for dinner.

Terry C.

Yelp
Simply stupendous! The menu is small and looks to be simple but that belies the amazing richness and flavors in the food! The atmosphere and setting is modern and lively. Service was wonderful! My favorite place in SLC for sure!

Stephani I.

Yelp
The restaurant is very pretty. The food tasted good, but it was in tiny portions. The service was terrible, although the server was very friendly. We had food on the table before we ever got our first drinks. Even though this restaurant is very close to the Salt Palace, so surely there are often groups of people there who have expense accounts to document, the restaurant refuses to give separate checks. All in all, the restaurant does not deliver in quality for the prices on the menu. I left hungry.

Yelp
So happy that I discovered this absolute hidden gem of a restaurant during my short stay in SLC!! (Disclaimer: by hidden gem, I'm referring to its unassuming location in a residential neighborhood and reservations being wide open on a Saturday night... but it's otherwise very evident that Arlo is widely renowned for top tier dining among local foodies). I was impressed by each and every dish that we ordered, which was painstakingly prepared with stellar presentation and top-notch quality of ingredients. The composition of each platter was very thoughtful, with disparate ingredients skillfully paired together creating one unique flavor and texture experience after another. My favorite dish of the night was the stuffed rainbow trout, but I would also highly recommend the seafood stew as well as the bread and butter. Between the two of us, we shared 2 appetizers and 2 of their "small plates" (actually reasonably portioned) and left feeling satiated not stuffed. Highly, highly recommend Arlo for a fine-dining experience minus the fine dining price tag. Perfect for a nice date night or special occasion, but they also serve breakfast which unsurprisingly has rave reviews as well. Pro-tip: they have a dedicated parking lot that is below the restaurant -- next to their outdoor patio, you have to drive below ground and parking spots are typically wide open as the lot is pretty lowkey/not well-demarcated and everyone is usually trying to find street parking, which can be a challenge as the neighborhood is pretty hilly with a lot of traffic at nighttime.

Yelp
Delicious food in a cute place. Ambiance: I love houses that are renovated to be restaurants. There's always something very cozy and homey about them and this restaurant definitely had that feeling. Plenty of spacing on the inside, seats facing the food prep area if that's your vibe, and a really nice patio as well. Service: Quick and friendly with nice recommendations for wine and food choices. Food: I got the bread, fish and chips, empanadas, peppers, the risotto, and the lemon tart. The bread was delicious and flaky with a rosemary take. The fish and chips were an interesting recreation that was light and refreshing. The empanadas were also delicious with a good amount of heft that went well with the light salad that came with it. The risotto was a nice embodiment of the fall season. The lemon tart was just the right amount of tart to round out the meal with a nice balance in contrast with the heavier risotto. They also had a very nice wine selection of your more common varieties and less common that were nice to try. Overall, cute restaurant with good food. It appears that the menu rotates so I will definitely be back to continue trying their creations.

Yelp
Cute little place tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The breakfast is excellent here. I forgot to take a picture of the Simple Eggs and bacon plate, but trust me it was good. I did manage to grab a pic of the cinnamon roll and wow! It wasn't too sweet and it had the perfect amount of cream cheese. Adding this to my brunch rotation.

Yelp
All, is a small, hidden gem. I'm a fan of the patio, so I wait until the Ut weather is good. The service is great. It's small plates, tapas so don't go expecting a 16 oz. Rib eye and a massive baked potato. However, they are all uniques and quite a few are excellent!

Yelp
I chose Arlo based on the reviews of other Yelpers and the beautiful photos of their dishes. I feel like my expectations were met and everything was as delicious and beautiful as I had hoped. I started with a spritz cocktail, which was very citrus-forward and light. It included a sprig of fresh sage leaves, which I broke off to chew with each sip. Delightful!! This was followed by what was listed as a 'chicory' salad, but came with radicchio (is radicchio a kind of chicory? Maybe...) - it was perfection - colorful, flavorful, and a good portion size. Besides the radicchio leaves, the salad had a 'pesto' of yellow squash which was the base, and it was 'decorated' with fried sage leaves, edible flower petals, chunks of a kind of feta or goat cheese, nuts, and strips of either cucumber or zucchini which were rolled. I loved this so much I will be recreating it at home... For my main dish I had the roasted potatoes small plate which came with roasted and smashed blue potatoes and a chunky 'sauce' made with chorizo and almonds. This dish was balanced and savory and I also really enjoyed it. For the table, we got the obligatory bread with 'quite possibly the world's best butter' (so says the menu) and it lived up to the hype; we could have ordered one per person... My dinner companion selected the braised short rib ravioli for her main - there was a generous portion of fresh-made ravioli pockets filled with the beef, sitting on top of a pesto with some radicchio leaves and sprinkling of grated cheese - she used the bread to wipe the bowl clean. We also decided to indulge in dessert - my friend went with our server's suggestion to get the chocolate pudding, and loved it - a serving of scratch-made dark-chocolate pudding on top of berries macerated in sherry served with a kind of toffee or caramel crisp. Decadent but not over the top. I opted for the lime tart, which came in a pastry shell and was decorated with mini meringues and dollops of what I think was a raspberry puree - it was tangy and complimentary to the tart, but I could not distinguish the specific flavor. The consistency of the tart filing was velvety, and overall I thought this was very balanced between sweet and tart. The bill for 2 people, several courses, including alcohol and dessert, was over $100 including tax and tip, but I felt that was on par with similar dining experiences in other cities when considering the quality ingredients, visually-appealing plating and excellent service. Definitely recommended! Note that parking is free but on the street, and the restaurant is located in a residential area, so you may have to walk a little. There is also a beautiful outside seating area. The day we visited we felt was too hot for us, but several other diners took advantage of being outside.

Maria P.

Yelp
Amazing ambience which resembles northern European style restaurant with indoor seating as well as a very nice closed glass patio. Has an open kitchen with an amazing chef, cooking in front of your eyes with the fresh ingredients and great combination of flavors. . The staff is very nice and they work as fast as they can but the place was busy . We went there for brunch on Sunday and we made a reservation for 1 o'clock, but they accommodated us earlier and they also gave us a choice to be inside or outside because it was a very hot day.

Yelyzaveta B.

Yelp
On the good side: Pudding cake was very good. Our server was also very very nice and polite. Gorgeous lamps for the place. They are beautiful. Putting lillies as decoration was a mistake, as their odor is very strong and suffocating for most people. It made the whole place smell very unpleasant. Raviolis 1/5 - were not raviolis, but dumplings (?). After browsing through socials of restaurant, I figured that those were actually called cappelletti. Nonetheless, those are two distinct dishes, and you should not be advertising raviolis as them. This is not good and is misguiding. The chef was trying to cook them al dente, but it ended up badly, as the dough of cappelletti is much thicker than raviolis, which made all of them tasting like rubber. The flavors were also lacking, making the dish bland. I wish there was something to make it more interesting. Sour cream - might sound simple, but would have been a very very good choice. Risotto 3/5. It was average. I liked the addition of nuts to it. But it definitely lacked salt. Fish and chips 1/5. Very unbalanced with each chip tasting differently due to different amount of ingredients in each chip. Was too overly bitter, as it had a ton of mustard seeds. One of the chips was also spicy out of nowhere? Cheese and crackers 1/5. Same thing as fish and chips. Poor combination of flavors. That preserved apricot mustard should have been much sweeter or more acidic to give a better pairing with brie cheese. Pudding Cake 5/5 Delicious! Actually, one of the best desserts I tried in SLC. The cake was moist, and a very successful choice of ice cream to put it with - i believe it was butterscotch. Not too overly sweet, which is a hugeee plus. One tip - serve it on a bigger plate. I would expect more attention to each dish as the menu is small (it's not bad that it's small) and there is barely any choice.

Jaye O.

Yelp
Extremely friendly atmosphere. Fantastic food. We just love Milo and his team. I would rate it a 10 if I could. J.

Bryson W.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Arlo more than I did but I didn't really love anything that we got. I do think that it's a cool space, I love how the entire kitchen is open, the blue subway tiles look awesome. I want to believe that it's better than my experience, maybe just not a great run of the menu. I would not hate to go again, but there are a bunch of other places I would prefer to try first.

Deanne B.

Yelp
We love this place! We had an incredible valentine's dinner here. The service was timely and great and the food was creative and very tasty. We will definitely be back!

Katherine T.

Yelp
My husband's friend was a little intimidated since he finds me to be a bit foodie, but in the end he had a wonderful experience. The service was perfect and charming. Only my husband got a cocktail but upon tasting it I immediately wished I'd ordered one for myself. It was whisky based and the perfect blend of sweet and tart. We got two orders of the bread and it was like a brioche in the shape of a cinnamon roll with herbs and that magical butter. My husband and his friend enjoyed their ravioli and I had the empanadas and the fresh tomato salad. The combo was perfect and the flavors were impeccable. I loved the crunchy fresh vegetables mixed with the creamy base. Last time I was here it was Covid so the tables are more filled in now but it never got loud in there on a weekend evening.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Food and service is always impeccable. Also recognition from the kitchen that there are "off the list" wines was a lovely surprise. Always a great evening at Arlo.

Richard W.

Yelp
Great experience at this place. Dishes were creative and well balanced. Flavors on point. Good choice of dishes and wines. Nice dining room & great view from chef's counter seats. 1st time visiting a top restaurant in SLC, was gladly impressed.

Shari B.

Yelp
Always consistently serving unique and delicious food! The staff is great and we love sitting at the counter space and watching the magic happen in their open kitchen!!!!

Yelp
This my "returned for brunch" review, and honestly it just didn't live up to the standard I came to expect from the excellent dinner we had here. I would say overall, dinner is the better choice. The hostess stand was not peopled so we spent a few minutes standing awkwardly in the lobby. The hostess showed up and saw us to our table, it was around 10:30 on a Sunday morning and very few patrons were sitting inside, but we were initially sat right next to the door to the patio and right under the air conditioning vents that were blowing full blast. Full blast being my paper printed menu was actually moving on the table. We asked to be moved and we were moved to a table with less direct exposure to air conditioning and it was fine. I was initially really excited by the menu (even without the off menu burger which apparently isn't available and unknown if/when it will return). Honestly the menu descriptions oversold every dish. My girlfriend got the French toast and it was 14 dollars for a SINGLE PIECE of French toast. French toast also needs to be on a soft piece of bread like brioche, not a crusty sourdough. Miss. I had the egg sandwich (14 dollars) with sausage (+4 dollars) and it was ok, it was piled high with arugula which was an odd choice. Egg was super undercooked (transparent whites) but the sausage was good. Best thing about the dish was the potato wedges. They had a decent hot sauce that was very spicy and added a needed kick and acid. Coffee was rich and black and good. My dad had the two egg plate and it was just eggs, potatoes and sourdough toast (14 dollars). Service was ok, our waitress didn't seem like she cared much about the menu, the food or any semblance of conversation, but she did her job. Honestly the brunch menu food isn't worth it for the premium price you're paying. There are better brunches within walking distance with heartier portions and a warmer atmosphere.

Yelp
Food (4 of 5): there is clearly a very talented chef involved at Arlo. The menu here is excellent and, as we prefer, changes frequently. with some dishes like the cheese & crackers and the fish & chips, the portion sizes are out of balance. For example, the amount of cheese (brie) and preserved apricot mustard is so tiny that the dish is really more just crackers with two or three bites of cracker with some cheese. It's just gives the frustrating impression that someone in accounting is making decisions about the menu. The dish was delicious, but we were disappointed. The fish and chips is another example, with house made chips with trout, crème fraiche, etc on top. It's a cleaver idea and a potentially delicious dish. Unfortunately, the amount of trout was so tiny per chip that none of the flavor came through. The empanada, risotto, and other dishes we had here were excellent. We're all in favor of small bites style menus, but ensuring the small bites have well-balanced and interesting flavors is key. When it's just a big potato chip with such a small bit of fish that there is no discernible flavor to it ... well, it's disappointing. I am being generous with the rating as we did thoroughly enjoy our meal and the positives outweighed the negatives. Service (5): attentive with excellent familiarity with the menu and dishes. Atmosphere (5): both the inside and the patio here are nicely done. Kudos to Arlo for the design including the focus on covering/softening up hard services so that the inside dining area is not an echo chamber.

Jaime L.

Yelp
Arlo is our favorite dining location. it's tucked into a neighborhood in Marmalade and the friendly staff and open kitchen really add to the vibe. great cocktails, wine list, and the menu is just so good. Milo (chef/owner) is so fun to watch in the kitchen and he comes up with some awesome dishes, seasonal with freshest veggies and spices so the menu is always fresh and unique! We like to try it all and the portion sizes are perfect to share. Great celebration location- however it soon joined our regular rotation!!!!

Kelsy P.

Yelp
Arlo is a trendy seasonally inspired restaurant tucked between houses near the Capitol. The whiskey cocktail was fresh and easily downed. My fish entree was delicious. Very fresh flavors and meaty salmon. But overall, I think this place is doing too much. The seasonal tomatoes were coated in seasoning, you could barely taste the produce. The brie, apricot spread, and sesame cracker had too many flavors going on. The bread was more parsley than anything else. We also waited 15 minutes before we were helped by a server, meanwhile there were only 2 other tables seated inside and I was staring at 4 servers huddled in a circle chatting behind the counter. He also skipped over 2 people at our table while taking drink orders, and couldn't remember what we ordered, and between 8 people we only ordered 3 different dishes. It didn't seem like he really cared. This restaurant concept has potential but I think they need to simplify their flavors and let the seasonal ingredients be the star. Overpriced for the experience.

James M.

Yelp
Cool little spot with satisfying food in a relaxing environment. Always a go to when in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Delicious food, fantastic service! Arlo is a cut above the usual fare in SLC. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant.

Matthew W.

Yelp
To preface, our party ordered every dish on the menu, cocktails, and two bottles of wine - unlikely to be a more comprehensive reviewer perspective. In sum, a distinctly underwhelming experience, with the caveat that most of the deficiencies could be corrected. Service speed with regard to drinks was painfully slow, dishes were bland at best, and menu titles were comically divorced from the reality of the dishes. To be more specific, there is no reason to attempt "innovative" plating if the base product is poor. A poorly cooked trout filet stuffed with some potato derivative is just that - no matter if you roll it into something resembling a tire and flip it for $35 or simply throw it on a styrofoam plate as the grill master of your neighborhood's block party. A severely undercooked rack of lamb will never overcome that basic detractor. I'll spare you the review of the other ten dishes - in sum, the restaurant equivalent of a fleet of needlessly bizarre concept vehicles (lacking even a powertrain) at the North American International Auto Show. The property itself leaves nothing to be desired for a snappy neighborhood joint. Despite the service speed being catastrophically stuck in first gear, servers and host were charming and generally helpful. Willing to give another shot, but only if the menu curator and kitchen safely splashes down to earth from what I can only charitably assume has been an unexpected orbit of Neptune.

Yelp
Best chef I've ever seen in all of Salt Lake City. Attention to detail environment was calm acoustics were felt dampened to your own table, service was outstanding, and food was beyond incredible.

Yelp
Service was great! Food interesting and tasty. Thank you for a lovely dinner experience.

Yelp
We loved Arlo, delicious food ! Asparagus dish and the Risotto were our favorites. The Service was amazing as well! The feel was relaxed and friendly. The menu options were so fun to pick from, we chose a few small plates to share and then a bigger plate to share as well. The whiskey drink was so good too. We will be back.

Yelp
The meal at Arlo was amazing. The food is served in 4 courses so you get an opportunity to try a wide variety of dishes and flavors. The service was excellent. The meal was paced properly and our server was attentive while still allowing us to enjoy our evening. My favorite thing is their non-alcoholic menu, in particular the mocktail. You get to let go of decision making and still get an amazing drink. The decor is simple while still being beautiful and elegant. The restaurant is small which really allows for an intimate meal. Overall, a really amazing restaurant that I would definitely recommend. There is a free parking lot behind the restaurant as well as free on-street parking.

Yelp
Had a great first experience at Arlo for brunch! I had specifically booked a table outside and it ended up raining the day we went. Luckily they have a great covered patio. The food was beautiful and delicious! There is a parking lot below the restaurant and street parking available. I can't wait to go back to try their dinner options!

Yelp
Everything was delicious and fresh. The risotto was the highlight for me. The samosas and the bread and butter were also standouts. The restaurant itself is lovely, the outside seating was very pleasant and had a bit of a view of the city which was very nice. We were able to take our dogs as well, which was great. Service was also impeccable. Overall would definitely return.

Yelp
Chef Milo's early spring menu has some wonderful new surprises, and they are all excellent, as we have come to expect. Wonderful flavors of peas and asparagus! Service and food is FIVE stars. Thank you!

Yelp
One reviewer thought this deserved a Michelin star??? Where is this world going? The place looks great, and after reading the menu you'd think you are about to have an exciting culinary experience. But... the service is ok, not great. All the food came out at once, apparently kitchen-focused rather than step-wise to allow the diners to have time with their appetizers before moving on to the main course. But the worst of it was the food.... Reading the menu creates an expectation for a cutting edge culinary delight, promising that the unusual ingredients would deliver new gastronomic pleasures. If it was only one dish, I'd think it was a fluke. But every dish my dining party had was a disappointment (although the presentation was perfect). The soup was just a bit too spicy, the chicken flavorless and salty, the asparagus (best dish on the table) was ok... (the smoked egg kinda saved it, but generally bland) and the ravioli was a celebration of flavors that should have never met... The thin, evil broth in which the ravioli was tortured.... Heavens, why did I put it in my body? Even the chocolate cake, (with an unusual twist of preserved strawberries) was so dry it crumbled under the spoons (!) with which we were expected to eat it. I recall thinking to myself halfway through the meal "why am I swallowing this stuff???"" Bottom line: quality ingredients and an air of sophistication do not redeem flavor combination. Don't bother.... Sophisticated ambiance and intent do not redeem the food.

Yelp
Lovely location and such a treat in SLC to have a small intimate restaurant. The beet salad and bread were fantastic and the fish and chips were a super twist! Service was fabulous at first but then didn't clear our plates for the longest time after we had finished and the restaurant was not full. The ravioli was a huge disappointment. The description sounded incredible but it was dry, no sauce at all other than a pasting under them on the plate, they were firmer than al dente, the beetroot was not sweet at all and frankly a very strange taste overall. I only ate the one which strangely the waiter didn't comment on. After waiting so long for him to come, I didn't bother voicing my dislike. I will certainly try it again.

Yelp
Great ingredients, but somehow very disappointing dishes.... The dishes seven innovative when you read the description on the menu, but the flavors don't complement each other, the preparation leaves a lot to be desired....

Yelp
I rarely give 5 stars (I know, who cares?) but this restaurant is a stunner. I initially picked it because it has good reviews and my grandson's name. It is a small pleasant structure on a quiet street with street parking. The Summer menu has light choices and the two that I had showed an amazing combination of flavors (although the cheese and crackers could have used a little less mustard.) The wine list is varied and amazingly reasonable. The servers all take turns serving. I love that they have ample outdoor dining, but it was nearly 90 degrees at 6:30 pm so that wasn't an option this time around. It is now in my small list of top restaurants in the US.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite spot in SLC. The atmosphere is simple , clean and modern. The menu is AMAZING, cocktails included. I have never had a dish I haven't enjoyed! Wish I had a picture of every meal to share with you. Great special occasion & date spot!

Yelp
The ambiance was perfect, the service from start to finish was amazing, and the food was second to none. It was more than just dining, it was an experience being here. Totally recommend it.

Yelp
We went to Arlo last night for my birthday & had the best experience. Our waiter was attentive & when our drinks took a ridiculously long time to come out (not our server's mistake), the kitchen gave us a free tomato salad (absolutely delicious!). They put so much thought into their meal options & everything is well priced & perfect portion. We sat outside on the patio under the pergola & it was just the perfect fall weather & experience. Will go again & again!

Yelp
Wow. Girlfriend flew in from OC today to visit my little apt. on Center St., and what a treat to take her to Arlo! The staff were impeccable, the soft-modern ambience just couldn't be better, and as we waited for our food, we were given a complimentary salad. I think it was a chutney salad with purple cabbage, and wow, it was so delicious. Then our food arrived. It's so pretty you don't want to eat it, but after the first bite you're glad you did. Everything was perfect here. Can't wait to take my parents, when they arrive. Thank you Arlo!

Yelp
lovely restaurant, great service, great bread and asparagus side, the pork was a bit tough and dry, but the chocolate mousse was awful.

Yelp
My husband and I ate at Arlo tonight. Daniel was our server. He was knowledgeable and so kind! He recommended some great dishes and helped us pick out what we wanted. We got the vegetable tart and carrots to start. We also got to try the beet soup. Then, our main dishes were the fish and risotto. We finished off with a lemon tart. Everything was delicious. The flavors, textures, and presentation were well thought out and creative. We were so impressed! Our favorites were the risotto and the carrots. YUM. We will be back.

Yelp
Arlo is hip, stylish and contemporary. It is located in the avenues close to the Utah state capital. Arlo is open for dinner only Wednesday through Saturday. The food is creatively executed American cuisine. The menu is straight forward with an emphasis on small plates. On the night we visited there were only 4 entrees named Ravioli, Risotto, Fish and Pork. The cocktail selection is equally broad, crafty and creative i.e Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, Tequila and Gin. One very creative cocktail for each. The restaurant offer a global selection of wines by the glass or bottle and another generous selection of beers. Beet Salad-fresh and beautiful Empanada-pork filled delight Bread and Butter- changes often but last night was a beautiful, perfect, delicious popover with pure butter Potato-perfectly cooked Roasted Potatoes We had delicious Black Risotto and chanterelle, Sweet Pea Ravioli in a crisp broth and the Pork Loin cooked to perfection and delicious. Can't wait to go back. All in cost including tip about $80 per person.

Yelp
Our third time at Arlo. The restaurant is on point - the food is inventive, tasty, and varied, the service is outstanding, the drinks well done, and the ambiance is inviting and love the open kitchen design. The patio is especially delightful in warmer weather. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night and LOVED IT. It was such a pleasant surprise to find a culinary gem like this near the State Capitol Building in a cute little unassuming former house. We ordered the bread and butter (best butter ever!), fritters, pasta (with pesto), pork, and they surprised us with an endive salad as a chef's gift. It was all sooooo amazing and we left with full bellies and happy faces. As the waiter suggested, we did it family-style and tried many different dishes. The menu seems to rotate items in and out frequently so we intend to come back again soon to try different dishes. They source ingredients locally and try to be creative with their food. Every dish was created with so much care and you could tell they are passionate about their food. The service was also fantastic.

Yelp
I can't say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. The atmosphere was welcoming and modern, the food was amazing and super creative and our server was so friendly and made our experience the best! We had such a fun time and wish we lived in town so we could come back over and over! A must-not-miss!
