The 12 Best Restaurants in Tampa - Eater Miami

"While there is slight controversy about this, Tampa (not Miami), is the official home to the Cuban sandwich. Meaning, one simply can’t visit this city without downing one. Located in Tampa’s trendy food hall Armature Works, [KŪ´BÅ] puts a modern spin on Cuban fare serving up chicharrones, its award-winning sangria… and has taken home the crown for “Best Tampa Historic Cuban Sandwich” for a reason. Make that five reasons: Florida orange juice-soaked hot shredded pork, salami, Swiss, and homemade mustard sauce on pressed La Segunda Bakery (a Tampa institution!) Cuban bread." - Liz Newman

This place has the coolest vibe, with a beautiful clean outdoor space with plenty of tables, and awesome food and drink options. Live music. Beautiful boardwalk along the bay. The downside is the cost for parking, either metered or $20 dirt lot. Would definitely return.

Google
Good day, everyone, This is a lovely location situated by the water, offering a variety of venues within the premises. It provides a welcoming environment for families and is also pet-friendly. Valet parking is available, as well as public parking with Pay-by-Phone options for added convenience. If you plan to visit during the summer months, it is advisable to wear a hat and light, seasonal attire, as temperatures can be quite high. The area is equipped with large fans to help maintain a comfortable breeze. Meal prices generally range between $20 and $30. Thank you~Martika

Visited this place with friends. It seems to me that in any selection of where to go in Tampa you will see recommendations for visiting this place. For us, this place did not quite live up to expectations. I would recommend visiting this place in the evening in pairs, alone or in the company of friends to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere and enjoy the beautiful view of the river on the street. So, what's inside: a 2-story building with many restaurants, an inner courtyard, and the opportunity to sit outside. Inside is clean, the atmosphere is pleasant, music is playing, quite a lot of people, even on a weekday. There is nothing for children here, except for the opportunity to eat desserts or buy ice cream. As for food, you will definitely be able to find something for yourself, as well as choose something from drinks. The design is quite interesting inside the building, there are locations that you have definitely seen everywhere and by them you will immediately understand that you are in Armatour Works. There are seats outside, the opportunity to play floor chess and checkers for free, they look massive, but in fact they are light in weight. There is a wonderful view here, as well as the opportunity to stroll along the embankment.

Google
So many retailers under one roof. Was great to see people on the lawn today practicing yoga. The food is a bit on the higher end, but the quality is worth it. Great selection and variety of food available. Even has 2 restaurants on site. Great spot to hang with a group of friends.

Google
Armature Works is definitely the go-to local spot in Tampa! With so many great dining options and stunning waterfront views, it’s hard to go wrong. Whether you’re grabbing a bite or just hanging out, the atmosphere is always vibrant and enjoyable. One thing to note: parking can be tricky, and parking enforcement is pretty strict, so make sure to keep an eye on the rules. I highly recommend downloading the ParkMobile app for easy and hassle-free parking payments. Another awesome perk is the regular car shows, like "Rides by the River," which add a fun blend of cool cars, great food, and a lively atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to spend your day or evening!

Google
Definitely one of my favorite places in Tampa, FL! Conveniently located near Downtown, with easy access, plenty of parking, and a modern, well-kept atmosphere. It offers fun for all ages and budgets. There’s a great variety of food and drinks, whether you’re looking for a casual outing or a spot to celebrate a special occasion. The view of the Hillsborough River is beautiful. Sangria and birria tacos are an amazing combo! Armature Works is a must-visit if you’re in Tampa!

Google
The place is beautiful and the atmosphere is enjoyable. The weather was very hot, but it was comfortable. The most important thing I liked was that I did not smell the bad smell of the river water. The place is very suitable for everyone.

Google
Armature Works is a great food and entertainment hall with many different food choices and seating options. There are American staples like burgers and pizza as well as sushi, dim sum dumplings, empanadas, tacos, Korean, Mediterranean and Cuban food stalls. There is an ice cream shop and a açaí bowl place also. This is great for families with people who want different foods. It costs a minimum of $25 a person anywhere you eat (without alcohol). Some restaurants have $15 lunch specials. I got Ling’s Dumplings and they were delicious with a Thai tea.

Yelp
My buddies and I are back in Tampa for our annual golf trip, we had a little extra time to check out Armature works and the river walk area of downtown. Armature Works is located at the start of the river walk, comprised of restaurants, bars, and small local vendors. It was very lively on a Sunday morning, great vibe and family oriented. Definitely worth a visit to grab a bite or go for a stroll. Best, Charlie

Yelp
This will always be a great spot for a good plan, whether it's during the day, in the afternoon, or at night. It's very versatile, offering all kinds of food and drinks. Delicious empanadas are recommended at Empamamas, a date night or hangout with friends at M Bird, and tasty fried calamari or pizza at Oak n Ola. You can watch the sunset or take a walk with your dog around the area, a perfect Sunday plan for some beers with your mom. In short, Armature Works is always a good choice.

Yelp
Not vegetarian friendly. Buddy Brew is great always, get their coffee (skip the old dry pastries) and tip them well. Food-wise this is a huge let-down for vegetarians. Only a couple places have non-meat options and they're underwhelming.

Yelp
We visited Armature Works for the first time during a day trip to Tampa, and we were thoroughly impressed. The variety of dining and beverage options is outstanding, offering something for everyone. We were also glad to see how much seating there was, both indoors and outdoors. There were eight of us, and we each chose something different--everyone was happy with their meals! After eating, we enjoyed a relaxing stroll along the waterfront, taking in the beautiful views. The entire experience made for a perfect outing, and we definitely plan to come back!

Yelp
So many food and drink options as well as beautiful views and walking paths. We come here often for dinner and cocktails and just to hang out. Great location!

Yelp
Love coming to Armature Works. Love their pizza and dumplings place so far. After eating go take a walk on The Riverwalk. So excited to come back and try some of the other food court restaurants

Yelp
This place was so clean, inviting, and had great energy. The vendors are very friendly and open to answer any questions about the menu. It was my first visit and it was really hard to choose which food stall to get lunch from but we ended up at the Empanada stall. They had some fun flavors and we tried each of them. I personally liked the fresh prince and the chicken one. The Tampa empanada tasted very similar to the burger one because of the strong pickle flavor. I loved the queso and pico together. Overall everything was good. It's definitely a great place to hangout and grab food and drinks. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed some sangrias from another restaurant stall. I can't remember what it was called but the drinks were delicious and had a kick of liquor. We played checkers outside until we couldn't stand the heat. I would definitely come back here and try another stall out.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
I love the great selection of places that are located in Armatureworks. They have so much to choose from sushi, pizza, tacos, gyros, and more! The ambiance is great; finding a table to eat at is always better. They do have seating areas outside however we are in middle of Summer in Florida which is so hot, so I prefer eating inside :) Depending on what spot you choose to go, you may have to wait longer than others.

Yelp
For anyone visiting the Tampa Bay area, Armature Works should be on your list of places to visit. Armature Works is a food court style fun spot! I have eaten at almost every restaurant within, but M.Bird by far is my favorite. It's a trendy rooftop bar that provides a beautiful backdrop of downtown and the Hillsborough River. Service is great and quick in any of the restaurants too. On the weekend, there are various events such as Rides by the River. You can see a variety of old to new cars and they have food trucks besides the restaurants indoors. If you show your car, there is no charge which is nice because parking can be expensive if you can not find a metered spot. Armature Works is a definite must go...it's a staple in Tampa.
google avatar

Yelp
I love food halls. @armatureworks_tampa is a great one. A huge variety of different food vendors ranging from sushi to BBQ. It's at a beautiful location right on Tampa's scenic riverfront. After doing a couple of laps deciding on what to eat, we landed at Butcher and BBQ, mainly because you can smell the smoking meats from the parking. We got the weekend special; smoked short ribs and dill pasta salad. Both were delicious. The meat was tender, and the smell intoxicating. The dill pasta salad was a great diversion from the richness of the meat. Armature Works is a great use of space. After eating, we sat and listened to some live music and enjoyed each other's company. Definitely a place to check out if you have a group and can't agree on one place to eat.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years and the ambience has gotten better. Tons of people, good music on the speakers, and a guy inside playing guitar and singing - awesome. Lots of chairs inside and out to hang and eat. Food hit or miss. Comes out quickly. Had the Nashville hot chicken - absolutely not one drop of flavor. The piece of chicken was nice and big, fresh but it tasted like nothing. Wouldn't get again. Fries were great though and did have seasoning. The bacon grilled cheese was good and did have a lot of flavor. Would try another one next time to get another type. Beer was tasty and bartender was nice and quick. Ice cream was good- got the guava and chocolate brownie one.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best stops along the river! This modern food hall boasts some of the most scrumptious food and drinks in the area! They host events and have outdoor spaces ideal for families or friends to gather. Almost every eatery is counter service, so waiting time is at a minimum. Before you make your way out the door, make sure to check out "the Bar" where they have fresh beer and my wife had the best mocktail of her life! Side review for Bap Bap. As this doesn't have a profile yet, make sure to check out the Bi Bim Bap bar. It's a Korean rice bowl dish. Standouts in this bowl were the Korean fried chicken and radishes. A lot of toppings to choose from, so be adventurous and add variety. We split bowl for $13 and were both plenty full after! Make sure to check it out- menu in the photos.

Yelp
What a happening place! There was plenty of parking and we went on a tiki boat tour and then over to armature Works for dinner. They had lots of different food venues to visit. We wanted a sit down restaurant so we went to Steelbach which was excellent what a great day to spend downtown Tampa!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this space, the location, the views, vibe and atmosphere. Every good court option is a hit, employees genuinely seem to like their job and I've always had great service at every space I've been in the court.
google avatar

Veronica C.

Yelp
I've always loved this place as it has different cuisines, and it's right on the water with a beautiful view. Events or markets are always happening, so it's super nice in that aspect. The service is always good however, the food is where I take one star off of because although most of it is good, they have gone up in price a lot in the past year or two. Places are starting to charge crazy amounts for average food. Also, warning: it gets crazy packed on the weekend. The photos I included are from midday on a Saturday
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Think... Fancy, old warehouse vibes, food court! There were tons of options and something for everyone. There were a couple walk up bars if you wanted a drink. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as giant chess & checkers outside. A lovely place to meet a friend for lunch if you have different taste buds!
google avatar

Yelp
When my husband and I took a weekend trip to Tampa, we parked and walked on the Tampa Riverwalk. On the walk, we spotted a busy but fun looking large building called Armature Works with many people around sitting at picnic tables outside eating, drinking, and some playing games outside. When we went inside, it was packed with hardly any walking room and there were so many really cool artisan restaurants spread throughout and there was live music playing inside too. We walked through the entire building to checkout all of the different restaurants and shops. Very cool upscale food court! Afterwards, as we were walking back towards the front of the building, we spotted a bar and 2 people had just gotten up to leave, and we were lucky enough to get a front row spot up at the bar. The 3 bartenders working were all very personable and helpful. Also, it was nice to see that they all looked like they were having so much fun working. My husband and I each got one of their awesome craft beers on tap and we sat for awhile enjoying people watching and just having a good time. Overall, great experience!!
google avatar

Stephen W.

Yelp
We took a water taxi to Armature Works. I had no idea what it was, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the large number of high quality food options. So what is it? It's a super duper food court! But instead of the usual chain offerings with mediocre food, this place has a wide variety of different types of cuisine with good quality food. There was pasta, Mexican, Greek, pizza, and a coffee shop. There is outside seating. And a play area for kids. If you are on a water taxi it is definitely worth hoping off and checking this place out.
google avatar

Natalia C.

Yelp
Fun outdoor area by the Tampa Bay. Lots of great food options - restaurants and takeaway. The service is always great and a chill atmosphere. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Irene E.

Yelp
A relatively new water front space or the meeting spot. The red brick structure is converted from the 1910 depot for the Tampa Electric Street and Railway Co., per their site.  Now, the workshops became a good place to linger: foods, stores, on the water - Hillsborough River, next to Ulele, near Water Works Park, not too far from Straz Performing Center (ok, 19 minutes walk by the river).
google avatar

Brigitte L.

Yelp
Came out for lunch with hubs for Father's Day. Nice day out although so hot! Armature has plenty of dining options to choose from but what I like best is the chairs outside and the view of the water and downtown. They do have a few covered chairs out on the lawn, I do think they need more with umbrellas. They have outside games available or you can walk the river walk.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
This place is so cute! Sat right on the bay with lots of comfortable outdoor seating and fire lamps, it was a great way to spend my Christmas Eve. I was tempted to try the pizza at recommendation of my friend but my friend wanted to try the chicken Mac and cheese from the butcher bbq place next door. We really wanted to try the short rib but they were out of it. It was okay, the cheese was definitely velveeta or similar. But for right before closing time for hungry people it was good. Although they were closing the outdoor seating shortly after and we were in very casual clothes as we had only come for a quick bite, the music coming from the rooftop lured us up and we found an amazing terrace bar to the restaurant below, facing the water providing a wonderful background and vibe until late at night. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Lovely food hall - we came as a big group and there was truly something for everyone here! Love the industrial look on the inside and the patio/ outside seating.
google avatar

karina k.

Yelp
Romantic at night, water views, public seating everywhere indoors and outdoors, AC cold indoors, a bit of wind and breeze outdoors, and lots of fun food inside and outside. There is a bar restaurant right on the water and it's so relaxing. A great new modern place that is a must see. Parking on the street and you pay via mobile app. And they have recycling bins thank you!
google avatar

Jaimie D.

Yelp
This is the SPOT! An open market food court style place with so many food and beverage offerings. A MASSIVE space with every food option you could think of. Lots of places to sit and enjoy both inside and out. On the back patio area, they have umbrella covered seating with misting fans, clutch on those 90+ degree afternoons. They have 3 bars available for cocktails if that's your vibe. They keep the space super clean and have security walking around to ensure safety. We came here via boat, parked at the public ramp in front of Uelel's and walked over via the main riverwalk. Wishing we could have stayed longer but we'll be back! Such a fun place, we loved everything about it!
google avatar

Romeo D.

Yelp
There are so many things about Armsture Works that are fantastic. And there also several items that have put someone of a negative spin on it. I have been going here for many years,, right when it opened. Over the years, it has gotten much more popular and it can get pretty crowded over the weekends. Parking becomes a little bit of a challenge. Since this is a pretty large area, people tend to spread out outside when it's not too hot. However, it usually gets very crowded inside and finding a place to sit down and eat is a challenge, especially over the weekends. it also tends to be a little messy, dirty, and unclean, as it's hard for a staff to keep up. Now, there are many great things about it! The little stores inside, offering a variety of different food items is really awesome. You can have some of the best empanadas, great pizza, ice cream, and many other things. This is a great place for groups when everybody may have a different desire. It is also very family friendly, especially when the weather is not hot. The outside provides a fun place for kids to play, for life music to be played, or for other events to be had. It is absolutely worth a visit. If you have not been there yet, perhaps going during the day, maybe the way to go. And it's not as crowded.
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
Awesome food court in Tampa! Great selection of restaurants, plenty of space, and good food. You can bring your dog and sit outside, there's a couple of tables with fans. We went for lunch so it was too hot to walk around and check out the riverwalk. Definitely plan on going back during the winter months!
google avatar

Joseph Y.

Yelp
This place is a must for your family. The food, the environment and the people have so much positive energy.
google avatar

Gabby S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Not only are there amazing places to eat but the history of the building is so fascinating!! We walked around and read all of the plaques and is was so awesome to see how they transformed the building from an old Trolly center. Our group ate at different vendors and loved all of our meals, you truly cannot go wrong with any place here! Delicious options to choose from for food and drinks and lots of fun activities outside as well! We played checkers and corn hole outside by the water. It was such a great time, we love this place and definitely recommend! One of the highlights of our trip!
google avatar

Andrea J.

Yelp
Perfect place to go for family fun and to take visitors! Plenty of restaurants to sample various foods, places to get drinks, plenty of seating by the water, and this is a good starting point for walking the Riverwalk. I recently brought my parents and 18 month old here and they all had a blast. Empamamas and Muchachas are my go to! Sadly Bake n Babe is no longer there. I usually grab a cocktail from indoors and sip on it by the water. We were able to get there early (maybe 6pm) to snag lawn seating and enjoy our bites. The music playing was great! And then later in the evening there was really good live performer! They usually have events on the lawn, so I'll check those out soon. Plenty for kids to do. My daughter enjoyed the checker board area and walking around the lawn. We stayed from 4-10 pm, and enjoyed every minute of it.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Great area to come visit and get out of the heat if you're down on the Riverwalk. There are several eateries inside the building which have a huge variety of foods from sushi to pizza to barbecue to Asian coffee and a bar with spirits and brews as well.
google avatar

Ryan D.

Yelp
Such a cool area to spend an afternoon. I was on a work trip and some coworkers and I snagged drinks on the rooftop, which was the perfect place! Can get crowded, so recommend a reservation!
google avatar

Anelle V.

Yelp
If you're in Tampa you have to check out Armature Works (Food Hall). So many options to eat, drink, and browse. I'm glad we tried Zukku Sushi, my bf got the sushi burrito and wouldn't stop talking about it. I got the sushi bowl and it was very delicious. Our meals tasted fresh and flavorful. Nice courtyard area, and we're able to walk off our food afterwards. Parking street side is your only option with the Park Mobile App and it cost a couple dollars. They also have nice restrooms.
google avatar

Yelp
Armature Works in Tampa Florida on 7/02/2024 made sure that I would be reminded that being Black is not OK if You are out in Public.. The man in the picture below is the General Manager Anthony of Armature Works in the back of him is Sean Manning two racist birds that flock together all in effort to oppress Mr Curry with intent who was a victim of Public Discrimination... In violation of Chapter 12 Code of Ordinances City of Tampa!

Yelp
Family was in Tampa for a college graduation and found to great place to hang out and relax by the river walk in Tampa. Lots of games and free activities for the kids and adults. There are over a dozen eatery's and bars to enjoy. There is music playing and lots of outdoor seating on a grassy area along the river. Could relax there all day. Plenty of parking and food and drink are reasonably priced.
google avatar

Christa M.

Yelp
Great place to hang out at and get some food. There are many dining options to choose from and plenty of seating. Most of the establishments were ones that we had never heard of but they all looked good. We ended up ordering Mediterranean food and it was decent also was pricey but decent. The bathroom was clean.
google avatar

Kristi P.

Yelp
Visiting from NJ & ended up here our first night. Tons or eateries inside & out. Live music. Seems to be a very family friendly spot as there were tons of kids running around. Very crowded but fun. There was a cute little flower truck set up outside too. Wish we had more time to explore there.... Next time!
google avatar

Lindsay G.

Yelp
This is a FANTASTIC spot with a seat yourself atmosphere to grab one of their many seating options- outdoor or indoors, and pick up some food or a drink from several neat food places with fast service! There's even a giant chess game and plenty of Adirondack chairs (even rocking ones!). Also, Lot 1 has free parking M-F until 4pm. Definitely looking forward to coming back here and checking out more of the food options when I'm back in Tampa!

Juan R.

Yelp
Great place and environment. Good restaurant options. Prime location. Parking a bit expensive. However perfect destination for family or friends
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
What a great little area. Nice views of the river...lots of interesting restaurants from a foot court style to nicer anchor restaurants....great vibe overall. I would be here often if I lived in the area.
google avatar

Casey R.

Yelp
What a wonderful spot in the Tampa area. This is a great spot for anyone anytime but for our large group of soccer girls it was perfect!! We came during the day with our family but later that evening the team came after their games to enjoy all Tampa has to offer of the beautiful Hillsboro River and fantastic eateries. Inside the historical and renovated building you will find local restaurants with options to satisfy anyone in your group. You can choose to sit inside or if the weather is nice enjoy the turf grass area with seating and tables. After you eat enjoy a walk along the river looking at the Tampa skyline. This is a spot we absolutely love!
google avatar

Kristin C.

Yelp
Armature Works is a vibe and don't try to convince me otherwise! There are so many food options and the cocktails at the main bar are excellent. Lots of quick service options and a few full restaurants to choose from. Tables inside, outside, and in the courtyard. Check out the view from M Bird, the second floor rooftop bar. Events going on here often including markets, free workout classes, outdoor movies, and more. I highly recommend taking a Dash car if you are coming from downtown. It will drop you off right outside of Ulele.
google avatar

Skylar W.

Yelp
Armature Works is a must-visit in Tampa, first of all. I've eaten at many of the concepts inside (Bake 'N Babes is top-tier), consistently walk Riverwalk, come by for events like movie nights and yoga in the courtyard...let's just say, I'm a big Armature fan. It's typically pretty busy on weekends and peak dinner time, but that's to be expected. This week, I attended an event inside The Gathering. It's a beautiful event space, the parking was easy, and the signage was helpful. I wish there was more free parking, or that they still did the "$5 parking but get it back as a $5 credit inside", kind of thing. Otherwise, I love this place and it's always on my list of recommendations in Tampa.
google avatar

Robyn E.

Yelp
Really had a great time with the hubby here. Very family friendly and just a nice place to see all the different food options. There's an outdoor play with corn hole and chess and large grass seating area. Lots of space for large crowds and you get to move around without feeling so congested. Laughs, smiles and kind people!!!! Food: We went to BNB Burger. It was ok, nothing special, subpar. I actually didn't finish the burger because the bun was soggy at the corner, I really hate that. Fries were editable, not crispy. I would not eat here again. There wasn't a place to leave a review for this place specifically so steer clear. Unless you want a less than acceptable burger. Service: All the people there were so nice. There are a lot of staff members keeping it clean, asking if you need anything and overall just attentive to your needs. We will be back here again. And will try some new food choices.
google avatar

Tammy W.

Yelp
Great variety of foods and such amazing ambiance...had Empamamas empanadas and tacos and they were so filling and tasty...crowded for sitting on Friday night but found people willing to share their table so we could eat..love this place when I'm in Tampa can't wait to try the other places
google avatar

J Z.

Yelp
This is a great place to bring people from out of town to "show off" the area. Armature is unique in its variety and location on the Riverwalk. I like that the options inside change but the good ones seem to be here to stay. Most of the vendors crank out the food pretty quickly despite the volume of people. The multiple bars make it easy to unwind it does get a little crowded on the weekends but overall a good time and parking isn't too expensive either.
google avatar

Alik W.

Yelp
Sigh. A friend recommended it so I checked it out. I'm unlikely to come again. Nothing was bad, but everything is very hipster/upscale, which means you're not getting out of here for less than $30pp unless you come for a $10 lunch special. Which, ok, hipster prices are what they are, but there's nothing on the menu at any stall that's THAT amazing or well executed. Basically, it's good but not great, but priced for great, which leads to a "meh" review.

Yelp
Beautiful place to grab some food and drink, and relax by the waterside. The place has quite a few mini spots to eat and then go outside and enjoy the ambiance.

Food halls in general are a great place to eat. Especially if you want a couple different things or cannot decide. Great selection and atmosphere.
