"Asada’s owners, Gina Petti and Roberto Cortez, focus on global ingredients at their Latin fusion cafe. Offerings include okonomiyaki, Peruvian tacos, burger arepas, and shrimp-stuffed chayote, but the steak tacos with house chips are a consistent best seller. A line at Saturday brunch moves quickly, and outdoor tables supply overflow seating. Two types of sangria, hibiscus tea, craft beer, and sake round out the experience. Cortez is a notable artist; his paintings hang in the dining room." - Stephanie Burnette

Stopped here on a Sat just before it opened. By the time we got our food the place was packed so very happy we were there early. Everything we had was great! Guac was super creamy. Quesadilla was unique (not cut). Cuban sandwich was super yummy. The menu is large with many yummy Latin dishes from different countries. Definitely recommend.

Google
We got our food delivered, so well packed and presented. Obviously all fresh ingredients. Can’t believe I never been here before, cant wait for my first in house experience

I had the grilled portobello & Peruvian choclo taco — pretty good, just not quite my thing. But my fiancé’s beef taco? SO good I almost stole a bite. Definitely coming back to try more, cause gotta find my favorite next time!

Google
We got here because of the high ratings in their reviews and we were not disappointed! It a small cozy place with a really nice atmosphere and the owners are super nice The menu is very interesting with a lot o nicely presented specials which showcase their Latin fusion style. I ended up getting a grilled portobello and Peruvian chaclo taco and the boiled yucas and my wife got the chicken asada burrito. I'm not a vegetarian but this taco was delicious, a cacophony of flavors and textures that complemented each other so well, the soft textures of portobello mushroom was a good contrast to the crispy large kernel corn and the Swiss chard gave an umami touch to it. The boiled yucas balls were delicious too, just a little bit of cheese inside , enough to taste it but not overwhelming the yucas flavor. The chicken asada burrito was very generous and delicious too! We will come back for sure

Google
The counter person was friendly and helpful with our decisions! The food was top notch!! Very flavorful! Everything on our plates went well together! We had the grilled lamb, yucca purée and fig salad. Nicaraguan style churrasco! Plus the tropical Sangria was tasty!! We would absolutely go back and it would be hard to not order the same items!

Caleb Whitaker

Google
Tried all the main tacos! They’re generously filled and quality. I used to live in Phoenix and have eaten a lot of Mexican food. This place is on my best tacos list for this area for sure!

Caycee Cleaver

Google
Soooo authentic and fresh and very generous with their portions! I got the chicken burrito which comes with a side of chips and pico. The food is seasoned so well that you don’t need sauce to add flavor (such a rarity in an affordable restaurant) but the complimentary salsa was delicious on its own and added even more flavor and depth to the meal. Definitely coming back when i’m not working to enjoy a beer with my meal as well!

Google
Hands down amazing! Tropical Sangria was great and I usually don’t like Sangrias. Mouth watering breakfast burritos. The slaw that comes on the taquito’s… flawless victory!! Going back for dinner. Thank you so much for making my trip to Greenville worth every penny.

Yelp
Looking back at the review I made in 2017, I can still gladly stand by it. Another trip from Atlanta back home to NC? I can't think of a better excuse to visit. Once again, everything was fantastic. The service is always friendly and the food is always delicious. This trip was on a Saturday around 1pm, so it wasn't busy at all. Food was delivered very quickly and fresh. The yuca balls and cream cheese & guava empanadas were a solid choice, as we always order them on our visits. I chose the arepa rellena as my main course and it was fantastic as well. Food that's been amazing over the 7 years I've been visiting? What more could you ask for?

Yelp
Disclaimer: This review is for the chosen tacos. Traveling from Austin, and thinking about moving to Greenville, we are looking forward to returning for more exquisite choices. Finding a latin-cuisine in Greenville is not so expected, so we were excited to come across this place. The green salsa was fantastic. Perfect spice and, most importantly, full of flavor. The carne asada taco was very good for what was expected in the area (not California and not Texas). The fish taco...not so much. A lot more breading than the fish, so it was like biting into a tortilla filled with puffed/fried breading. The slaw was not at all flavorful. The size of the taco was decently sized (which we were hopeful for due to the higher taco prices), but...again...not much flavor. The chips were not our favorite either. I imagine the chips were made fried from the tortillas used, but tasted more like old oil. Meal was advertised with pico de gallo, I didn't get any. Maybe the chips would've been better with it...?

Yelp
This might be my new favorite spot! The steak quesadilla is excellent. Perfect portion and flavor. My husband tried the arepa burger and said it was bursting with flavor. The interior of the restaurant is very comfortable, with good music playing and lovely artwork on the walls. The staff was very kind and attentive. We will DEFINITELY be back soon!

Yelp
Food here was great went on the recommendation of a local airbnb. Had two orders of steak tacos and came with some chips and salsa. Overall good place to stop for lunch will definitely head back again. Not spicy at all if you don't want it to be.

Brynt L.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. It's nestled just between Greenville and Taylor's in a cute mission style house. The service was warm and friendly. Each time I've gone the food has been fresh and delicious. The menu has a lot of great options too. Def one of my go-to's in the area.

Jaclyn N.

Yelp
As I walked in, I could tell that I was at a spot where locals grab lunch (thanks for the recommendation from a teacher I was working with). I ordered an asada burrito to go and the yucca cheese balls. The bolitas were good- heavy on the yucca, light on cheese if you're wondering consistency. The burrito was very large and I will say some of the best seasoned carne asada I've had. Everything appeared clean and friendly atmosphere. I'd definitely come back if given the opportunity

Yelp
One of our fave places for burritos ever - reminds me of burritos we've had on trips to southern California. SO big and SO delicious. Most recently we tried the breakfast burrito and it was so amazing. It's a casual, quaint but very small place and small parking lot so beware of that bc it can get busy. We usually do take out. But it's always amazing!

Steve E.

Yelp
Asada is easy to miss on Wade Hampton, next to IHOP. Order at counter where a standard burrito, taco, Mexican menu board is surrounded by 20 or more pictures of specials. The descriptions indicated that some of them are from different Latin American cuisines. My basic pork burrito was very good. My wife's chicken "something" taco was a special with a sweet sauce. Beer selection was limited but that's not why you eat here. Prompt service, very clean and inviting decor.

Greg G.

Yelp
A must stop place when visiting Greenville. Everything I've tried has been creative and delicious. Great for take out and picnic at Paris Mountain State Park.

Ron D.

Yelp
Wow! Is it a romantic Saturday night date place? I will let all you decide for yourself, but the food is amazing. Dammit they're gonna kill my current diet.

Will G.

Yelp
Our favorite neighborhood joint. Best Central American in the city, plus wonderful staff to boot.

Leyla M.

Yelp
This restaurant is very cute. It's has a modern and small interior so start looking for a table! You order at the front, find a spot to sit down and wait for them to call out your order or number. The queso frito and tostones were yum! The tostados were actually my favorite. They are definitely worth a try. I tried two of their tacos (which are pretty big!). The chicken wasn't bad but it was a little dry. The rest of the flavor made up for it. I also tried their steak which was pretty good. Overall recommend to try this place out!

Paige A.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my meal and loved the abundance of vegan options. The parking lot and restaurant are on the smaller side so I think it's an ideal off hours visit. Everything is very meticulously made by hand so don't plan on a grab and go. The portobello and corn taco I had was incredibly unique and flavorful. I'll absolutely be back

Mark P.

Yelp
Wow - first time visitor / in house diner and possibly the best burrito ever! I had the Carnitas (pork) burrito and my wife the chicken quesadilla. The pork was incredibly flavorful, with just the right (small) amounts of rice and black beans. For a relatively small package, it packed a wallop weight wise. I only had half and it was plenty! My wife enjoyed her quesadilla The location is small, clean with original artwork on the walls. Good friendly service. There appears to be a robust carry out business. Definitely my new favorite Mexican / Nicaraguan restaurant in GVL. Can't wait to try the many other menu items.

Ruta f.

Yelp
This food is always tasty and mouthwatering. Good selection of innovative and traditional with a twist. A crowd favorite and a beloved local owner's restaurant!

Ules D.

Yelp
Oh we loved this place. It feels like you walked into a home filled with a loving Spanish household and all of the women are serving up amazing family favorites. I had the steak mofungo and it was so good. Mashed Plantains topped with steak, mushrooms and gravy. The tacos we had were carne asada and carnitas. They were overflowing with meat and just pure perfection. We are so happy to have stumbled across this place. Recommend. Recommend.

Caroline A.

Yelp
I love this local spot! My original go to was the chicken quesadilla with a side of guacamole--still fantastic. The guac has the freshest taste and doesn't have any cilantro--which is a rare find. But my new favorite (usually listed on the specials menu) is the Chicken Karaage Taco and the Guava & Cream Cheese Empanadas for dessert. The sangria is a great choice, both the red & white are tasty. To me a restaurant experience is more than just the food--this place has a lovely community atmosphere, good food, and sincere staff.

Christian W.

Yelp
I consider myself a taco connoisseur and my life endeavor is to find the ever perfect taco, but much of the time when I go out to eat at a small hole in the wall restaurant, especially around Greenville, I'm generally disappointed because I've either had better or I could make wayyy better. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR ASADA! This is my favorite go-to spot in the GVL area and never disappoints with the quality taste and fresh ingredients they have. The steak quesadilla and steak taco are a must have and their chips and salsa is good too. Wash er down with a Jarritos and you'll thank me later. The owner and manager are both super nice and hospitable. The parking lot is tiny. Inside of restaurant is quite small too in case you have a big group. Sometimes they can have weird hours/days that the are closed so be sure to call ahead if you are making a date out of it.

Terry M.

Yelp
I had the fish taco, which was a generous portion. It was fried with a relatively thick coating, which I didn't love but we're still tasty.

Lauren B.

Yelp
absolutely delicious food and a great vibe! absolutely LOVED and still think about the carne asada burrito, that was my favorite. i cannot wait to try more things. the chicken karaage tacos were good, but the burrito was much better. the nachos were also fantastic! i couldn't recommend this spot enough ! such a unique spot... very glad greenville is blessed w it!

Melissa G.

Yelp
Stopped at arepa along a road trip through Greenville. There are a couple of outdoor tables and ample sitting inside. You order and pay at the counter and then your number gets called with your food is ready for pickup. We tried the yucca and cheese fritters which were good, the chicken taquitos were tasty but the portion felt a little small; and the arepa which was made vegetarian with cheese only per request. The area came out a little cold on the outside which made me thing the arepa shell was not made to order but just filled upon demand . We ate in the restaurant but all our food came in cardboard to go containers which seemed wasteful and unnecessary Overall it was good but definitely has potential to improve.

Ben H.

Yelp
Food was very good. The girl at the counter was very helpful as it was our first time. The steak mofongo was tasty and filling. Looking forward to going back to try their other dishes.

Lois S.

Yelp
Yummmm!! Love it!!!! The service is the Best! When the Server sees me coming and our eyes meet, all I have to do is nod my head and s

Bailey W.

Yelp
I'd give this place 6 stars if I could! I don't live in the area, or even in the state, but I'd come here again and again. My favorite piece (outside of the outstanding food) is that they have such a large menu to choose from! We chose the papa rellena, mofongo, arepa, and some yuca cheese balls. Everything was phenomenal, but my favorites were the mofongo and the arepa. The meat was tender where it should be, the diverse flavors and textures complemented each other well, and the staff was so friendly and offered free samples of the many sangria options. Needless to say, we devoured it all and left nothing Eat here and you're welcome!

Daina B.

Yelp
I just moved to the Greenville area this week. My husband found this restaurant. I had the chicken burrito which was delicious and packed with ingredients. The seating is limited as is the parking but the place was full to the brim with patrons which is always a sign of good food. The only thing I disagree with is asking for a tip at ordering. We don't know how the service is yet but are expected to tip upon ordering. That's why it's a 4 rather than a 5 star review.

Jim H.

Yelp
Great food. Had the beef empanadas and bolitas de yuca con queso. It was great. Just right for dinner after a hard day. Very friendly and very very clean ( they are always cleaning). Small, so sometimes it can get a little crowded but they move fast. Nice beer and wine selection. Outdoor seating. A perfect place to enjoy great food and relax.

Michael D.

Yelp
Just one of the best spots in Greenville. Awesome burritos, wonderful flavor in everything I've tried. Really a great spot.

Rebecca E.

Yelp
So fresh!! I'm originally from Southern California home of great Mexican food and I felt this was one of the best burritos. The quesadilla my friend got looked amazing and she said it was DELICIOUS! The San Deigo style fish taco was big and my friend said it was very good. We also got the tres leche bread pudding with strawberries and it was very fresh and delicious as well. The tortillas are home made and everything had so much flavor. The presentation was good and the facility is VERY clean. Highly recommend.

Laura M.

Yelp
Dont waste your money! So they are still requiring masks and they have no dine in available until next week. There was a sign that there were no public restrooms but i assumed they meant for non paying customers but nope, no restroom for us having orders to go either. I got the Asada's arepa rellena and one Jarritos soda. $13+ and was asked if i wanted to leave a tip (on this to go order with no other people there rushing them). So i walked out of there paying about $15 for what i mentioned. I think that was a little much. I do admit it had plenty of meat but it did not look, taste or had the consistency of a Colombian nor Venezuelan arepa. Extremely thin and no flavor. Theres nothing about it that was super tasty or worth getting again. One of the few places Ive been to that had me thinking I had just wasted my money. Huge disappointment.

Anita L.

Yelp
Asada is one of my go to places for takeout in Greenville. They serve Latin American cuisine. I usually get the pollo asada tacos. They come on corn tortillas and on a bed of fresh crunch chips. Everything I've ordered here is amazing - including the cheese balls and sangria. I cannot recommend this place enough.

David P.

Yelp
Very cute little eatery. Tasty and visually appealing. Young man at register cautioned me when I ordered 2 tacos that it might be too much food ... he was right. Nice job on customer service.

K R.

Yelp
Super tasty food ...neat little place. Friendly service. I would definitely visit again and bring a friend.

Rob B.

Yelp
Artfully created food items that were truly flavorful and outstanding. Inside was bright and clean, and easy. In a world of many Taco shops this one really stood out as being unique. Loved the mole sauce, too!!

Ellen D.

Yelp
This is a walk up to the counter and order you food, sit down and they call your number when it's ready. Very warm, welcoming and helpful staff. They guide you with your selections. The food is excellent quality and delicious. Their food never disappoints. Be careful of their green hot sauce. It is spicier than traditional "hot" salsas.

Yasmin H.

Yelp
Had steak mofongo, shrimp tacos with mole, and bolitas de yuca with queso...ALL amazing! The mole was some of the best we'd ever had. Ambiance was super cute and casual at the same time. Indoor and outdoor tables. If parking lot in front is packed, go around side street and there's a large parking lot in back!

Marina K.

Yelp
The food was great! It's the best burrito I've had in a while. It was a good vibe but there wasn't that much space. The service was good, I feel like the place needs to be bigger though, since it's such a popular spot

Krishna D.

Yelp
Love this place! I had lunch with my wife and the food was amazing as usual. I have been here often, me and my wife love this place. Especially the karage chicken tacos are the best. Also, the lady at the front is super nice and friendly. Highly recommended!!

Bill F.

Yelp
Wow! Great food, fun atmosphere. A wonderful find!! A little hard to find, (going west on Wade Hampton - just past IHOP) but worth the effort!

Carla A.

Yelp
Amazing lunch spot!! The staff are friendly and food is very good. The empanadas are so good! The guava and cream cheese empanadas are my favorite!! All the food is full of flavor!!

Nikki D.

Yelp
SO SO yummy! This was the first restaurant that my tastebuds were so happy about after moving from San Diego! The flavors will not disappoint.

Reid J.

Yelp
My wife and I ate at Asada this evening for the first time at the recommendation of a close friend. We ordered the chicken karaage taco and the asada arepa rellena. Both were delicious, light, and full of wonderful favors. Everything was so fresh. What a gem that had been hiding under my nose as a native of Greenville. The finale was the bread pudding, a unique Dulce de Leche with caramelized apples and blueberries. We will be back often.

Kelly T.

Yelp
I decided to downgrade from five stars to four because I think they could have done better. I called ahead to order our meal and was warned ahead that it would be 45 minutes, which was fine. Upon arrival, we noticed that the dining room is not open and they have a checkout station at the front door. I gave my name and I noticed that our food was already sitting on a bench, not being kept warm. I paid with my debit card and was asked if I wanted to add a tip. I'm happy to tip for good service, but for preparing my food? And when I arrived home and opened my taco, it was cold and the chicken was chewy. I guess it didn't take 45 minutes after all. Major disappointment. Maybe it's just the pandemic funk, but I expect more from Asada.

Adam B.

Yelp
Food was delicious and high-caliber. Original menu items, and all three of us enjoyed the food. I wanted to give it five stars just based on the food, but gave it four stars because there was no seating for a while. It's a small place, but decorated well. Also the food took a while (about 20 minutes) to prepare, but the wait was worth it.

Janeth V.

Yelp
Excellent food and service ! I recommend everything from this place . The quesadilla is really good

Rob G.

Yelp
Great food with fresh ingredients. Helpful staff to explain the menu in detail. Great for take out.

Magaly D.

Yelp
Love the food, the staff..the place. Food is so tasty, fresh, original. I would highly recommend this place l.

Angela M.

Yelp
My fiance likes to doubt Yelp again and again...and the same thing happens every time where we end up trying the place he refused to go to and absolutely loves it. I've been trying to go to Asada for months now and he finally caved after he got multiple recommendations for Asada. We LOVED Asada...so much that we went back twice in one week. Not that I'm keeping score but Yelp: 3, Matt: 0. We thought it would just be the classic tacos, burritos, quesadillas. I was pleasantly surprised by the fusion foods that they threw into the mix. Korean burritos, Japanese style chicken Karaage tacos, Nicaraguan styled taquitos dorados and many more on their specialty menu. They have a variety of craft bottled beers, wines and sangria. - Chicken karaage tacos: Reminded me of Indian chicken 65 probably because of all the spices. I was a huge fan! - Taquitos dorados: The taquitos part is just alright but the slaw on top was amazing. I generally don't like coleslaw but theirs had a unique cream mixed in. - Steak burrito: Yum! This is on their regular menu and the steak was so well seasoned and juicy!

Starla L.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Very good and we were very pleased with the variety in the menu. We actually got to meet the owner, she was very nice and I would recommend trying this place if you're ever in Greenville.

Jaime B.

Yelp
Amazing food. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. Great service. Clean and pleasant. The toilet paper was even nice!

Antwon C.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this place so decided to check it out for lunch. I tried the chicken karaage taco. It didn't disappoint. The Chicken had great flavor and the slaw complimented it well. It's has a small dining area so large groups wouldn't be recommended. I will definitely be back.
