The Best Coffee Shops In Atlanta

"Ash Coffee is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop filled with stroller-pushing VaHi parents, young adults looking for a chat that doesn’t involve a screen, and those here solely for their thick Vietnamese egg coffee (that has a blowtorched foam top). A well-stocked display case reaffirms that breakfast is the most important meal of the day with pastries like giant cinnamon rolls and spicy bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches. Under the cheery glow of natural light flowing in from plant-draped windows, coffee lovers take their place in line. But the wait never seems to matter while perusing fun shelves of tchotchkes a la Richards Variety Store.  " - juli horsford

These Are Atlanta’s Essential Coffee Shops

"Located on one of Virginia-Highland’s most picturesque corners, Ash Coffee is a welcome addition to a strip that’s already adorable. Founded by Junkman’s Daughter owner Moss Mills and his fiancee, Ashley Saunders, the spot offers plants, gifts, and Asian-inspired beverages and pastries. Ash Coffee also carries items from local vendors including Orchid’s Baked Goods, Witchy Kombvchy, Knead to Savor, and Heaps Pies." - Beth McKibben, Sarra Sedghi

This place is tucked away in a quiet spot in Virginia Highland. The shop is sunny, plant-filled and spacious with plenty of seating. On a Saturday morning, it was quiet and peaceful. The coffee was great and the decor is super quirky. The shop also sells books, mugs and other merchandise. They also had convenient bike parking outside.

This place rocks! The location is tucked away and feels like a neighborhood hangout in Virginia highlands, and the plants, decor, and spacious seating are all great! They have some great gluten free cookies and donut holes and tons of great baked goods. Coffee and teas were great as well and they have some unique options like mushroom coffee. A great spot to work remotely as well with power connections.

A place to relax & refuel! Amazing colorful decor at this café. Located between residencial area, quiet street. The cafe offers alot of bakery/snacks options, and most options are vegan friendly :-) Ordered cappuccino with oat milk, vegan plain croissant and iced salted bourbon carmel with oat milk. The cappuccino was little strong but it was good. The croissant was delicious with the coffee. Loved the ambience and friendly staff. They have a cute little market inside with various unique stuff for selling. You can browse, sip coffee and shop. Great place, will surely come back.

This coffee shop is adorable! Everyone is really friendly, there is an expansive selection of pastries, and the vibes are on point. There’s a lot of fun little things to look at while you’re waiting and the pink cups and boxes are lovely. The bacon egg and cheese danish is sooo good 🤤

Egg coffee was pretty good and the matcha strawberry iced latte was interesting (not particularly my favorite but not bad). Love the ambiance and vibe the most. Very cute place and definitely worth coming back!

Great place to get great food and coffee. Plenty of options and even sweet treats! A must visit if in the area. Not just a coffee shop - great place to get some work done and buy some super cute or funny gifts for family and friends!

Ash Coffee is such a cute neighborhood gem in VaHi! There’s a curated shop inside too with gift items, books, plants, etc. Great spot to grab a coffee and sandwich/pastry to catch up with friends or work remotely. There’s limited seating inside with tables outside too. Parking: street in the neighborhood.

Excited to have another coffee shop to choose from in the neighborhood! I think this one might be my favorite yet. The plants in the window immediately drew me in, and I loved looking at all the knick knacks for sale. There are lots of refreshingly new pastry and baked good options, and I appreciated the seasonal latte flavors. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating- the awning is a nice touch. I’m looking forward to making this my new go-to spot!

Yelp
Obsessed with this place after a recent bike ride that ended in delicious drinks and pastries! The inside is adorable and also serves as a store for cute items that are great for gifts or just fun to look around at. The drink selection is great and they were even able to make a beautiful coffee and tonic. I must return because I had a delicious pastry but there was a lot of other food I want to try. The people me sitting next to us highly recommended the empanadas. The perfect neighborhood joint!

Yelp
Great coffee shop and boutique in a quiet neighborhood. Location and Parking Located in VA Highland, parking is free along the street. Venue and Atmosphere Ash is a coffee shop and boutique with a diverse selection of plants, home decor, and stationary. Lots of windows bathe the space in natural light. Service Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Food and Beverages I ordered one of the special beverages: sparkling juice with raspberry puree. It was delicious and refreshing. The turkey/mozzarella/tomato/pesto sandwich hit the spot and ran circles around the "chain" coffee shop (iykyk). The ube cake was a welcome dessert. Verdict I'll be back!

Yelp
Adorable coffee shop hidden away in the Virginia Highland neighborhood. While there is plenty of street parking throughout the neighborhood, Ash Coffee is also a quick ~10 min walk from the heart of the Highlands. Ash Coffee has a really great atmosphere, with great lighting, tons of plants, and even a large assortment of eclectic gifts. Not to mention their coffee and pastries are delicious too! This is a nice space to grab your laptop and get some work done, as there are also ample outlets and strong wifi.

Yelp
Love this place! It has a great atmosphere, good beverage options, gluten free pastries, easy street parking, and good music. They also have and lots of interesting items for sale that would be great for when you're in need of a birthday or hostess gift. I had a GF chocolate almond doughnut and an iced matcha latte. Both were delicious! It's a great place to work. Strong WiFi and lots of outlets. There was a dog inside, laying by its owner. They also have a few tables outside. I can't wait to come back here to work!

Yelp
This is a great coffee and pastry shop located in a quiet area of Virginia Highlands. Their cappuccinos are on point - full of great espresso flavor and the right amount of steamed milk. They have a large selection of pastries and breakfast sandwiches. I love the strawberry danishes! the only area for improvement is the biscuits - which are often on the dry side.

Yelp
I hit the Grand Opening of this eclectic fascinating unique Highlands coffeehouse/retail establishment, and was immediately hooked. The coffee / tea options were plentiful and quite alluring. And that was just the beginning.. Co owners Ashley & Moss went out of their way to ensure every walk-in is attended to and informed of the numerous array of pastries, sandwiches, & other niblets. Def start w their mind-bending Chocolate Cardamom Cookie. Don't feel so bad for the SBX 5 min away.. .. :)

Yelp
Stopped by Ash Coffee on Saturday, and just love this place. It's unique, and if I had one word to describe it, I'd tell you it's "comfy". Coffee is great. I had an almond milk latte. The chocolate chip banana muffin I had was soft, chewy & fabulous. They sell all sorts of quirky novelty items, and the plants make it a very appealing vibe. Parking is on street, usually a non-issue in this mostly residential Virginia Highlands neighborhood. And by the way, they also sell sandwiches. And croissants! I'm making myself hungry the more I write. My God. Now I want a croissant! I'll have to update with photos from my Ash Coffee visits. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
My hubby and I were on a quest to try a new local coffee shop. We stumbled upon Ash Coffee as we were driving through the beautiful VA Highlands neighborhood. I'm so happy we chose to visit on this Thursday afternoon. We were luckily able to find street parking right in front. Oh my goodness, this place is adorable! It truly has a quirky, artsy vibe and is the definition of bohemian. From the funky vintage art hanging on the walls, to the fun, artistic journals for the astrology lover- this place is whole vibe. We ordered two lattes and split a pastry. I ordered the Ube latte, which I think was seasonal. Soooo good! To top it off, we met one of the owners and she was the sweetest. Definitely excited to support this gem of a spot in the future.

Yelp
I enjoyed this coffee shop! The coffee, the items and signs hung on the wall, and the atmosphere make it a great coffee shop. I had a latte and my partner had a Chai Tea Latte. We both enjoyed our drinks! To eat we got a handpie and a Persian Rosette. The hand pies were okay and I liked the Persian Rosette, it was light, airy, and not overly sweet. It paired well with the latte! I loved the atmosphere of Ash! The staff and patrons were friendly too! After enjoying our drinks we walked around the neighborhood which had pretty houses. I will be back to Ash on my next visit to Atlanta.

Yelp
This is the most random but delightful coffee shop. First the coffee, I have the campfire latte with oat milk and it was GREAT. Balanced, not too sweet, overall great flavor. The spinach handpie was AMAZING. I could've eaten 5 of them. For the work and sip crowd. There's plenty of seating with outlets nearby. Music wasn't too loud so I could actually get some work done. For the shoppers. They have hilariously random to buy. Funny books, plants, crystals, cat nip lol, some of everything. I didn't see a parking lot but here was street parking nearby. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is a total hidden gem! It's got everything - plants, gifts, and even a cozy spot to get some work done. Tucked away on the corner of a building, the moment you step inside, you're surrounded by a jungle of plants that adds such a cool vibe. They've got a cute little gift shop and a menu full of delicious pastries, including some awesome vegan options. Inside, there's plenty of seating, making it a chill spot to hang out. Parking might be a bit on the street side, but it's worth it. The coffee selection is top-notch! The barista was super friendly, hooked us up with some great coffee combos. Had a blast, and you can bet I'll be back for more!

Yelp
THIS coffee shop!! Ahhhh!!!! It's amazing! Has like a mini Richards Variety store in it where you can purchase fun gifts. I actually just picked up a few last minute Christmas gifts. And y'all their pastries! I got the spinach hand pie and it was incredible. Also got an iced oat milk latte with bourbon carmael and it was delicious. I'm tempted to go back and order something else to go. Just do yourself a favor and come visit! Thanks Eugene (atlanta coffee shops) for recommending Ash Coffee!

Yelp
New best coffee shop in Atlanta. I'm serious!!! This is the dreamy coffee shop I've been looking for for the past 5 years!!! They also have delicious food and the most ADORABLE artisan gifts. Ash makes me want to write the next great American novel and chat with my coffee-loving neighbors! This cafe creates a space for community and self reflection. I plan on coming up with any excuse to linger longer over my delicious latte... I don't want to go home.

Yelp
I loved the vibe of this place. They have a cute little shop with a lot of fun things to browse through while you wait for your coffee. I tried the egg coffee which was delicious but a little to sweet for me to finish. I also had a great chocolate croissant. I look forward to coming back and trying other menu items. Glad to have this shop in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Absolutely adorable. The vibes are wonderful. The Vietnamese egg coffee is a must try (not hot). For a gluten-free person, the options are a dream!

Yelp
In a neighborhood rife with cute coffeeshops, Ash might have already cemented itself as one of the best, as I encountered in my visit soon after its recent opening. Located on a romantic and out-of-the-way little corner in the heart of a VA Highland residential neighborhood, it seems like Ash almost popped up out of nowhere. However, it's meticulously decorated, cultivated, and cozy interior shows that much work and thought has been put into this spot, and it will be sure to function as a community staple and meeting/work spot going forward. We visited on a busy Sunday morning, and perused their ample supply of quirky gifts and tchotchkes, hinting at Ash's status as a little sister of Little 5 stalwart Junkman's Daughter. We were floored by the quantity of delicious looking sweet and savory food items, and settled on a tasty banana walnut loaf and a chocolate chip scone. For our beverages, she went with a classic iced with oat milk, which passed the test, whereas I went experimental with a special peppermint tea latte, which was a sweet and decadent morning treat. Ash is quick to become a neighborhood favorite for gifts, lunch, and morning coffee and a much needed community spot in this corner of the neighborhood.

Yelp
The PERFECT coffee shop! Fun and relaxed atmosphere, delicious coffee and baked goods and a charming and inviting owner (Ashley) make this a must stop on the way to work or play. And with more than ample street parking and its close proximity to downtown Virginia Highland, Ash Coffee hits all the marks.

Yelp
Interesting concept, with plants, small gift and stationery items. Coffee not on the level of Perc or East Pole, but this is the first day and they are slammed. Lots of pastries, although be prepared for Alon's- level pricing. It's nice that this corner of Va-Hi has an actual place to hang out, right on the Dekalb/Fulton line. For me it's around the corner, so I hope they are successful. Revising pastry prices downwards will help in the long run, I expect. The coffee itself will improve over time I'm sure.
