The pantheon of kosher restaurants is sadly not very expansive, but AsiaTiko easily rests atop the all time list and from what i can tell, it's only been open a few months.
AsiaTiko has the vibe of a hip, sophisticated Peruvian/Japanese urban late night spot even though it's nestled in what seems like an Aventura office park, with complex cocktails straight out of Chicago's famous Aviary and small bites from across the Asian landscape.
Are the appetizer servings too small? Most definitely, but that just means you walk out having tried a half dozen without feeling too full. We were a group of three and enjoyed the soft, plump beef gyoza, the chicken and beef yakitori with fresh greens, and the corn ribs to start, and followed up with the hot pot rice which is easily shared and was the star of the show with mushrooms, vegetables, egg and a mild taste of black tea.
The robata that came with the yakitori was oddly not sizzling but it didn't matter since we ate them so quickly, and our bartender - an engaging, knowledgeable gent with an improbably perfect handlebar mustache - took us on an unexpected gastronomic journey with his recommendations. The Chilcano de Pisco was refreshing without being tart and and the Painkiller, complete with dried and candied pineapple, lemon and orange to complement the juices and four rums, was the perfect palate cleansing finisher to a wonderful meal.
Pro-tip: Reservations are a must, but we arrived at 7pm and were quickly seated at the bar. The valet parking is quick but the app didn't let me pay or retrieve my car without actually going outside and asking the guys to get it, which was a minor annoyance to an otherwise perfect outing.
