Yelp
Greeted by warm smiles and seated without a reservation on a Sunday brunch afternoon, timing was perfect! There were only 2 open tables! We were given server, Brandy and other than the cocktail, she was the best! Her raspy voice and charming personality were both inviting as she walked us thru the menu, which was paring down as orders plowed into the kitchen! We enjoyed two all-time house favs... i thoroughly enjoyed the big dawg, Croque Madame and i can't tell you what was better, the ham Sammie inside or the rich bechamel-drenched Sunnyside egg on the outside... it's a tie! It was served with a highly dressed mixed greens, just so you can think you aren't eating a zillion calories! I could only eat 1/2 but the other 1/2 was just as good the next day, deconstructed! Mom had the Astoria breakfast and because they were out of the Lang's sausage, they gave her double bacon... i swear it was 1/2 lbs! The petite taters were delicately crisp but be careful of the Calabria chiles... the heat ain't no joke! It's a drive for us, but well worth it! Just ignore the fact that you are eating in a deli!!!! (Spolier alert) Check out my pics...i wish I had smellavision or scratch and taste!

Yelp
What a cute market and restaurant! They also have their own private parking lot. Great service and drinks that were fast and friendly. The small plates are my favorite but try what you like. With your receipt at the end of a meal you get a discount from the little deli shop!

Yelp
An easy 5 stars! The patio is amazing for a summer night, super private. The staff was AMAZING. All extremely knowledgeable about the menu, pairings, etc. We got the hummus, Iberian Milanese, grouper jambalaya, and the prosciutto pizza. They were all great! Be sure to check out the market inside for some authentic items to pick up and take home.

Yelp
Ambiance is spot on and puts you in the mood to enjoy the person/s you are with right off. However, the beauty of Astoria is the service followed by its great well thought of menu and execution. Every time we visit Ohio, we visit Astoria and they NEVER disappoint for the last three years. How they consistently hire great people, creative chefs and keep the ambience fresh is why I highly recommend this place. Jordan! The recommendation of the fish taco was the best I e had ever.

Yelp
I visited for the first time towards the end of January 2024 after viewing the new apartments across the street. They have a small market that is attached to the restaurant so you can shop for some Italian spices, sauces, snacks, wine, etc PIZZAS -- Their pizzas are probably one of the best that I've had in Cleveland. Soft and rich. Flavourful. I ordered the Pizza Margherita ($15 during happy hour time) which consists of herb-roasted tomatoes , fresh mozzarella cheese, and basil with a garlic sauce. This pizza is soooo flavourful and just perfect. No meat is even needed. Normally, I don't like to eat cheese neither do I really like sole cheeses or I hardly eat cheese but the mozzarella cheese in this pizza did not make my stomach hurt and it tasted fresh. Earlier this morning, I came across my photo of the margherita pizza and I'm craving to order it tonight - that's how delicious it is. I recently had a dry and hard pizza from a pizza restaurant in Lakewood but Astoria Cafe has one of the best pizzas in the city of Cleveland. I also tried their pepperoni and mushroom pizza and those were really. I also ordered the Chicken Avgolemono Soup ($7) as a starter before the pizzas arrived and this was a nice soup but it needed some more flavour besides salt. I'll definitely be back to Astoria Cafe to try other menu items and to buy the Biscotello cookies from their small market. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 10/150 total reviews in 2024 - 660 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on Friday, 15 March 2024

Yelp
Remains one of my faves in the 216... we had the octopus, salmon and maiale ribs... all were excellent... festive scene makes this summer patio experience super fun and our regular bartender Jess guided us on great drinks and dishes and is an asset to the venue.

Amy J.

Yelp
Fantastically delicious food this evening. Nice cocktail list with some creative options for all liquors. The gazpacho is stellar! Super flavorful w chunks of tomato and loads of garlicky flavor in the medium thick creamy cold soup. The octopus is both beautiful and super delicious.

Yelp
Astoria is a fun place for brunch that I've been told is a good place to meet your friends from the far side of town. I'd definitely recommend reservations. The dining area is on the small side and there was a pretty big line when we left. That being said, the staff were really friendly, service was great, and I've been dreaming of that fried chicken. We had the full brunch beverage array - water, coffee, and a fun drink. The menu isn't huge, but everything looked good, and there are some intriguing boards I'd like to sample. I had the chicken and biscuit, and the chicken was fantastic. I'm sure the biscuit was good, too, but I was pretty honed in on the chicken. The skin SNAPS when you bite it! So good! The food was well seasoned, and the staff were really nice about letting us take our time, even on a busy day.

Yelp
I saw the guy fieri episode and was in Cleveland so I wanted in to try. Meatballs were really good as promised! And the noodles were fresh because I know they make the pasta themselves. I did not enjoy the noodle shape though and felt like the sauce was a little too peppery but otherwise really good. Octopus was also really tender. Service was great, and the people working there were also!

Steve M.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere and the service was great too! Loved the design/atmosphere of the restaurant too as well as the area.

Nupur S.

Yelp
Amazing experience here and I will be back, the food was delicious and I'm gonna have to get this recipe and try to make it at home. Our server was the best! 10/10

Yelp
Astoria is one of my favorite brunch spots! The staff has always been welcoming and accommodating. During this visit, I took a new friend who recently moved to Cleveland. Afterwards, he said that his entree was one of the best meals he's had in Cleveland. I ordered the Astoria Breakfast, my husband ordered the Basque Country Saganaki, and my friend ordered the Scallop and Prosciutto Eggs Benedict - all were great! Astoria is a casual spot and is recommended for a small group; be sure to make reservations because it can be busy at times.

Yelp
Pretty good but overpriced? Don't get me wrong the food is not bad. But honestly the salad was watery and while the ingredients are special and considered expensive, the overall price just has me thinking it was too expensive for the actual food itself. The food got cold too quickly. I understand I'm being picky but yeah if I'm paying over $100 for a two person brunch, I expect everything to taste perfect. The scallops were too salty, salad was watery, duck was quite chewy... I'm hoping to try again and update my review to experience dishes worth their prices! The servers and bartenders were attentive and nice.

Rachel S.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me years to come here! There's a great Mediterranean market in the front half of the shop and then the restaurant is in the back half. They offer multiple vegan options and the cheese board was absolutely incredible. The staff is very knowledgeable and will guide you through the cheese pairings!

Ryan R.

Yelp
Wow is all I have to say. Have been meaning to try this place for a while. Service was friendly and excellent. Both entrees were delicious. Best tasting scrambled eggs I've had. Highly recommend, will be coming back to try some other entrees.

Sean O.

Yelp
Talk about a great place to eat, drink and be social! Had a very nice dinner with friends. Everything tasted great and the service was 1st class. Will be going back again soon.

Kaitlin R.

Yelp
We went for happy hour and got great food deals! 2 apps for $12. They are a good size portion. They also have delicious cheese boards. I love a good happy hour. Their hummus is delicious!

Lisa G.

Yelp
This is my kinda food. Charcuterie - noshing is my thing. The food looked as good as it tasted. And the famous meatballs were yummy. And the cocktail was crazy good. Can't remember the name but it had cherry juice at the bottom. Super cute vibe, service was good. Guy Fieri never steers me wrong! Lol.

Annie C.

Yelp
I can only speak to the pizzas since it was the only items I ordered, and they were average. It lacked real flavor, and was instead just really salty. I had asked for some balsamic and olive oil to drizzle onto my pizza to make it taste better. However, I found the balsamic to be disappointingly lacking in its characteristic tartness and was pretty much tasteless? Same with the olive oil, not really fragrant as an olive oil should be. As a result, I left craving something more. Service was also just ok. Our server left for long periods of time before checking back on us, so we were left waiting for water refills.

Yelp
Finally, the visit to Astoria happened and couldn't have been better. Astoria aces everything they do - it's a open and modern space, shared with delicious gourmet groceries, the service is friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious, from the mains to the desserts, paired with a great choice of cocktails and wines. A must repeat place for sure!

Amber G.

Yelp
Nice date night ambience. Sat at the bar, service was great and the retail section near the front is awesome. Will be back!

Yelp
We dined here twice - once for dinner and once for brunch. I had the halloumi burger ($14) for brunch, and even though it doesn't have meat, the heartiness of the halloumi certainly made up for it. Definitely recommend. But dinner meal was the true winner: - Saganaki ($12) - so melty and comforting! - Four-Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms ($14) - the fact that it was fried as well gave it a nice novelty factor - Iberico Souvlaki ($21) - tasted more like beef than pork, but in a good way. Overpriced for the quantity, but loved it nonetheless - Octopus alla Karvouna ($18) - if you enjoy octopus but don't like the chewiness, this one's for you! Super tender and has a really nice charred flavor. - Veal, Lamb & Ricotta Meatballs ($28) - HUGE meatballs and so fluffy! As good as meatballs can get - Drinks: I LOVED mine, which tasted like a watermelon jolly rancher - I think it was the "watershed moment". Though only pitfall is that it seems to have minimal alcohol in it (unclear if this was a misunderstanding since I requested an alcohol free version, but was also fine getting the regular one when told that that was not an option). Astoria is one of the few Cleveland restaurants with dishes that can truly wow you, which is very much reflected in the price. But the main thing that took away from the whole meal were the dirty dishes. There were still a few crumbs on the empty dishes we were provided at the beginning of the meal. Even after wiping it down with a napkin, there was still some oily residue leftover. Nevertheless, the food will be bringing us back time and time again. Excited to dine here again!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Love Astoria! We have been now for dinner and Happy Hour. My recently for dinner, we came with some friends on a Friday night. We just had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. Our server was very friendly! We all enjoyed our cocktails and wine. We got the feta dip to start with and loved it. For an entree I split the pepperoni pizza with a friend. Loved it. Super fluffy crust like napoleon style. I also got the Greek salad and tasted very fresh. Can't wait to go back.

Lauren F.

Yelp
First, the market that is within the restaurant is quaint and well stocked. I still didn't see everything they have available. We shared the Brunch Board, and loved how knowledgeable the staff member who delivered it was about everything on it: double cream Brie, ham, prosciutto, among others I can't remember at the moment. I had the Croque Madame and could only finish half. So so good. I got the red skin potatoes instead of the greens. I believe that to have been a good choice. Cocktails were tasty as well, I had the tequila sunrise. All in all, there was nothing I really disliked about my experience. It was my first time here and it did not disappoint. Definitely look forward to my next visit.

Monika P.

Yelp
This place few years ago was a gem! Now it's mediocre at best. Food quality keeps degrading and service is okay at best.

Ailin J.

Yelp
Returned for dinner and still a great meal. FYI they don't do anything special for occasions/celebrations but that's no big deal. We ordered the specialty board this time which was delicious as usual but if it you want the better deal, order the regular board instead for about the same quantity of food.

Terri D.

Yelp
Goodness. I want to post an amazing review but I just can't. I invited my dinner crew here because I had heard such amazing things and I had been here one other time just to sit at the bar though. Let's get the negatives out of the way. When we walked in the hostess was standing near kitchen- looked at us and didn't even acknowledge. I assumed she was another guest. She then walked to the host station and I realized she WAS the hostess. She then had a bit difficulty locating our reservation. Her co- worker was able to find it. ( not a big deal but I already felt like we were off to a bad start after our no acknowledgment upon entering and waiting at hostess stand ) We were given the choice for a high top or regular dining table and we opted for the high top. A gentleman filled our water and gave us menus and allowed us time to look over menus and decide on drinks. Then a lady came over to take our drink order. She was not friendly. In fact ALL of us noted her brisk and rude manner. She made no eye contact, no hello, just asked what drinks we wanted and sorry ( again - why am I apologizing for this rude behavior- we were the customer) she was just plain bit&$@. When she came back to take our food order we asked about size of small plates and she literally took a deep breath and said I can't tell you how big they are. Ok- I'm sorry but some guidance on size, sharing etc. nothing. Nothing but complete rudeness. Did I mention this is NOT a cheap restaurant. Prices are not on the low end and for this, I would expect minimally a kind attitude. We told her we would decide and she walked away in a huff. A gentleman proceeded to come back and when I inquired on the menu and what was his favorite item, he told us what he loved, if they were big enough to share and was more than friendly. Meals- delicious. Small plate shrimp was enough for a meal and delicious. Pasta and meatballs- again, delicious. Ok- at top of menu it states for credit card charges you will be charged an additional 3.5% but cash and gift cards would not. Ok. I understand credit card charges have gotten crazy BUT two of us paid cash and the said "admin fee" was NOT removed. I am sorry but do better Astoria. If your customer pays cash then remove that fee. We calculated that we each paid 1.50 in fees. Multiply that by every customer and that adds up. How many other customers have you not taken off that admin fee? I work hard for my money and I thought this was really shady. Do better!!!! Overall- ambiance of restaurant is nice. Cute little store with wines, cheeses and various other things. Food was hot and delicious. Staff needs some education on service. If anything, they need to be taught that the reason they are in business is their customers. Smile. BE FRIENDLY. Drop the attitude. If you don't want to work with the public, get a remote work from home job. Nobody is forcing you to be there!

Alex Y.

Yelp
We try to go here every time we're in town from Chicago. The food menu is awesome and always rotating with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Brunch, dinner, drinks all have been great. Staff here is also very accommodating when we've brought our toddler. Deserves a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Victoria B.

Yelp
Astoria's tapas and snacks are the best for noshing! The chef explaining the charcuteries is always appreciated. There's always a buzz and a wait, which makes it a fun atmosphere to visit!

Kaitlin K.

Yelp
Wow I was delighted by this place for brunch! The menu was really unique. Yes there were stables like French toast or omelettes but there were also interesting takes on classics like the croque madame, tortilla español, duck and waffles. Most came with a side of "greens" which was arugula lightly dressed w pickled onion and was delicious. There was also an a la Carte section with some classics, biscuits, crepes, scrambled eggs, etc. everyone was pleased with their order! We were a group of 6 and able to get a reservation last minute for a Sunday which was great. There is a patio but the seating is more limited than inside. Service was fine, we were actually tended to by the nearby server rather than our own most of the time but it was a Sunday morning so perhaps that had something to do with it. Good spot for small to medium groups, does take reservations, patio was dog friendly. Inside also contains a market with cheese, wine, and artisanal items. I would have loved to take some cheese home but didn't have the means to transport. Also of note is the events, we saw a cheese class advertised which looked fun.

Chris S.

Yelp
Every time I go to Astoria I look over the menu and choose something that I normally would not pick at another restaurant, and every time I've done this I leave saying "I'm really glad I went with that". The food is always great. But be aware, the menu isn't very big; they have a few small plates and a few entrees, but the good news is, you basically can't go wrong. There's also a small market area just as you walk in that has a lot of items you might not find in a typical grocery store. Mostly Greek items, so if you're interested in bringing a few authentic ingredients home, this is the place to do that. When the weather is nice they have an outdoor patio which is great, even if you want to go and just get some appetizers and drinks and sit outside for a while. I definitely recommend giving Astoria a try.

Giselle P.

Yelp
I had the best lunch. A salad of green peppers, onions, feta, tomatoes. It was delicious. So fresh. Baklava for dessert. Divine. I'll definitely be back. Great service too.

Tom C.

Yelp
Such an amazing patio!!!!!! Fantastic service, we sat at the bar at the back patio. The bartender was super attentive and gave us a tour of the menu and recommendations since this was our first time. We ended up getting 3 things to share. Two were small plates, the shrimp and the octopus, and one large plate, the meatballs. All was divine! The meatballs were my favorite by far, SOOO delicious. This is a must-visit. This place is a little pricey though, be aware.

Rena S.

Yelp
Astoria Cafe & Market is a great neighborhood spot to grab brunch with a friend on a busy weekend morning. The menu us unique and revolving with fresh ingredients and lots of delicious items to choose from. As someone who doesn't eat eggs and tries to follow a gluten-free diet, the options were limited. I arrived at 11:45 and was informed that I couldn't order the soup off the lunch menu because they were only serving brunch, which was frustrating, but the food was delicious - although I did wind up breaking down and ordering gluten. The market inside is also a great place to pick up some items for dinner, a gift for a friend, or something to bring to a dinner party. Prices range from reasonable to expensive depending on your taste and budget.

Kathy M.

Yelp
I saw a delicious recipe that requires quince jam and unable to locate it anywhere. I stopped here and Jason at the deli was very helpful. He had a paste and even let me sample it with some manchego cheese that he says pairs very well; and it did. He gave me an idea of how to make it work for my recipe. He was a delight and very knowledgeable. I will come back to try the restaurant.

Tim J.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out during my stay in Ohio per friend's rec. This place has wine/beer/cheese market inside as the name 'cafe&market' suggests, but there is a dine in area on the side with a lot of tables/space. We had a party of 10 and had to make a reservation as it is pretty crowded here usually. I was amazed by the friendliness of the staff and how delicious every dish was! Price in my opinion is reasonable although it may be on the higher end for some. Still, you will get quality food here for the price and I recommend checking this place out when you are in Cleveland:)

Eunice D.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a few gal pals. It was a great brunch restaurant and hit the spot. Fun ambiance and even has a market attached to get some items for home. Can't wait to try again

Joseph B.

Yelp
First time at Astoria. We actually were going somewhere else and had a dog with us. We saw the dog friendly patio sign and took it as a sign. I was not disappointed. Quick service. Patio was packed, but they were able to give us the last table. Really a nice patio, wish I had pictures to share. Not only did we get water but they brought water for the dog! We had the hummus appetizer & Horiatiki Salata. Nice hummus plate. Fresh pita and veggies. Really tasty. I followed Denise's lead with the salad. Honestly did not know what to expect. We did op for chicken on the salad. Needless to say there was nothing left when I was done. Fresh vegetables, olive oil, feta, chicken. Even the tomatoes were tasty and I am not a big fan. Decent bar selection as well.

Christopher H.

Yelp
an unusual concept with market, restaurant and bar. a welcoming space and layout. extremely kind and professional service from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. very well staffed. all very kind. we sat at the bar. our first time here. the bartender was so kind to review the menu and share favorites. the bartender was very kind, professional and attentive throughout. the food was outstanding. great bread with dipping sauce. the vegetarian harvest small plate was excellent, as well as the shrimp dish.

Kayla C.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place and it didn't disappoint! Grabbed lunch on the patio and everything was delicious. The patio was beautiful with lots of seating and shade. Would love to come back and check out the brunch and dinner menus. There's also off street parking for Astoria customers which is great.

Aly L.

Yelp
Just had an awesome night at Astoria. Such delicious food, wine & cocktails! We got a charcuterie and cheese board, octopus, and duck. Everything was delicious. The team at Astoria went above and beyond to make our experience delicious and memorable. Chef Corey & Robin were awesome and we can't wait to come back!

Adrianna U.

Yelp
I finally got to try Astoria Cafe after a few friends have recommend it! I've been here for wine/charcuterie and the brunch. The charcuterie boards are super cute! I wish it came with a tad bit more food, but it was all super delicious. You can choose between boards with just cheese or boards with cheese and meat. Each board came with a variety of cheeses, chocolate, honey, jam, fried fruit and pickled veggies- I really liked the sweet drop peppers! For brunch, I got a pancake "charcuterie board". This was also super cute, but I don't think I would get it again because it was a small portion and didn't completely satisfy my appetite. What's cool about Astoria is they have a market connected to the restaurant, so if you want to take home any meat, cheese etc. that you tried at the restauran, you can pick it up at the market. It also has a decent sized collection of other international groceries.

Erica M.

Yelp
Absolutely love!! this spot is amazing to have brunch with the girls. i got the brunch board and the pancakes À la carte and everything was so so good. if there was something on the board that wasn't my favorite my friend loved it. it might be a little busy so you might have to wait but it's so worth it. I highly highly recommend this place!

Lauren K.

Yelp
Two words: Halloumi Burger. I always knew about Astoria but recently my friend turned me onto their Halloumi and I cannot stop thinking about it. Halloumi is a semi-hard, unripened cheese made from goat's and sheep's milk that can be easily fried or grilled. It's hard to find, let alone in Cleveland, so if you're visiting here, know its a super unique menu item! This is the most satisfying vegetarian burger this carnivore has ever had. The flavor is so addicting! Cleveland's brunch spots can be hit-or-miss to get into. I love that Astoria offers reservations and also has a free, adjacent parking lot outside with ample parking spots (I've never had any issues). These elements of convenience are novel enough, but marked with the fact that their food is awesome, it makes this my literal happy place. They are also part market, filled with amazing cheese, wines, deli items and local products galore. It's great to peruse on your way in or not. The interior can run kind of loud (lots of tables inside) so be patient. Even if you can't get a table, just sit at the bar! It's actually a very large, comfortable bar with tons of space and seating. The service is still great even at the bar! Astoria has become a fast favorite of mine for brunch, and I can always count on Astoria to be its fabulous self.

Charla D.

Yelp
What a fabulous experience and I can't wait to go back! Everything we had was outstanding... But the grilled octopus may possibly be one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Flavor bursting from all the food. Order a cheeseboard & you get a little education on what it is and what to add with each bite- a very nice service! The place is hopping & bursting with an exciting energy. Service is excellent... And as is so rare these days... There is a sufficient number of staff who are all willing to help each other, which means your dining experience is smooth sailing. Menu has so many interesting options. They have an endless amount of wines... But I'm not a wine drinker so I tried the Mediterranean lemonade & it is delicious and refreshing. There is also a brunch that I need to check out soon! Overall just a great evening

Jenny L.

Yelp
Love going here for brunch on the weekends. I recommend making a reservation before coming as it's a small place that can get full quickly. Street parking is available and they also have a parking lot, but it may be difficult to find a spot during peak hours. When you come in, you will notice that the left side is the dining area, while the right side is their market, which has a selection of wines, cheeses and etc. Of course, I had to start off my meal with mimosas. I ordered 2 Aphrodite's kisses (1 cranberry juice and 1 blackberry purée). You honestly can't go wrong with any of the flavors they offer. The drinks also came with the cutest little bottles of Prosecco. For food, I love a savory breakfast, and decided on the crab, shrimp & prosciutto eggs benedict. This dish was excellent, and came with an arugula salad that complemented it well. Everyone in my group also enjoyed their meals. We stayed there for about two hours, and did not feel rushed to leave in the least bit. For an elevated and aesthetic brunch experience, come to Astoria, and buy a bottle of wine while you're at it!

Hannah Z.

Yelp
Have frequently gone here throughout the years and have never been disappointed. Food is delicious - love their pizzas and their brunch. Drinks are always superb. One of the few markets I can find tyropita too. Great place!

Julie S.

Yelp
This place is beautiful and very accommodating! Parking is always one of my biggest worries and they have plenty of street parking! My lady friends and I came during lunch time on a Friday afternoon. They have the barcodes on the tables so you can look at the menus on your cellular devices. I honestly can't remember our server but our server and hostess were so polite and amazing! I ordered the falafel and the Pastitsio because I am very indecisive and I like options. One of my lady friends recommended the pastitsio so I decided why not. I have also been craving a falafel! I am not a fan of arugula but my lady friends loves it so I'm guessing it was delicious. You are able to substitute your side dish for the crispy fingerlings for an extra charge and it's definitely worth it! The pastitsio was very delicious! It kind of reminded me of a better version of lasagna! The seasoning was perfect and the texture was great. My only complaint is I had a chunk of egg shell in mine, which was unfortunate, but it didn't stop me from ordering one to go for my husband to try. The falafel had great flavors and was beautifully put together. The tzatziki sauce definitely made this dish blend very well together. My only complaint was the falafel was dry which made it crumble all over my plate. So definitely eat this like a gyro and not with silverware. It may make things a bit more challenging. Overall great food with delicious flavors and amazing customer service! Will definitely come here again to try more food from their menu!!
