"Attagirl was a restaurant known for its unique identity, tapping into the spirit of Café Marie-Jeanne with a distinct menu and atmosphere. Opened in November 2023 by Bunny and Matt Sussman, it featured a varied menu and a notable ambiance. However, Bunny exited in mid-December, leading to changes in the restaurant's direction." - Lisa Shames

"Anyone missing the cheeseburger or veggie burger from Cafe Marie-Jeanne can find them during brunch at Attagirl, the new Logan Square restaurant from the teams at CMJ and Table, Donkey and Stick. The eclectic menu offered Saturday through Monday also features housemade lox, poutine, breakfast sandwiches and griddle cakes, providing a mix of new dishes and favorites from the all-day cafe. "Atta Girl is a bar and bistro that's good for charcuterie and wine for a first date, or getting the excellent burger with smoked tomato jam if you make it to round two. Their menu is vaguely French, and the dimly lit space makes everyone look exponentially more attractive whether they're sitting at the bar or snuggled up in a big leather booth. If your date is easily wooed by poultry in sexy lighting, their plate of half a smoked duck with a dollop of pâté sitting on fluffy fries can help. " - adrian kane, john ringor

"The owners of Table, Donkey & Stick in Logan Square have turned their attention to recreating the menu at Cafe Marie-Jeanne, a beloved all-day cafe that closed during the pandemic. Their breakfast sandwich comes with a choice of seasonal marinated veggies, bacon, or sauce, plus butterkase, and an egg." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff

"Attagirl, the spiritual successor to Cafe Marie-Jeanne, thrives in Logan Square as a sibling to Table, Donkey, and Stick. They recently expanded the menu and added pasta dishes from Wilson Bauer’s Flour Power. The frites have become a staple and are cut slightly thicker than standard fries, but not as thick as steak fries. The texture remains crispy and the interiors remain creamy; the shape also proves versatile. Any fry can be enjoyed on their own or with dips, but these fries genuinely excel either way. The smoked duck version is probably the most popular." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

We had a booth in the corner. Loved the food. I ordered French toast, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The French toast taste like they added orange extract. I’m not mad at it. Also the service was great. The server was very at the five and the bartender was great as well! They introduced us to a new drink and they smelled so good! Will return.

Brunch was great! The food was really good, and the coffee was strong and delicious. We got the french toast and crab cake benedict. The muffin on the benedict was surprisingly good. Only knock would be the bloody mary was weak and really small for $12. It should be at least a pint glass. Service was good. Saw the waiter take extra time to explain all of the gluten free options to the next table. And good music!

I never went to CMJ but heard many tales and was excited to come here. You can tell it’s brand new and they have some kinks to work out but overall we enjoyed it. The waiter seemed nervous and a bit overwhelmed but was friendly. Fennel Apple Carpaccio was bright and delicious, came out fast. Fried cod was good and served piping hot but the fries were room temp and possibly waited at the pass too long. The burger was delicious but I thought rather small and came out long after the other 2 dishes, maybe 15 min or more. The fries that came with those were very hot and tasty. I would come back for the burger and fries but I wish it was a bigger sandwich as every other burger I've had in the city for that price is twice the size. We didnt order but saw the ham sandwich go by and it also looked small. Lovely ambiance. I look forward to seeing them grow.

Google
Food was great, but the service was atrocious. We were the only table (a two top) in an entire section with 3 servers and they were too busy looking at their phones to pay any attention to us, they forgot one of our dishes and our steak frites came out cold. I get it on a busy night but we were the ONLY table!! I’m no expert but I’d re train your staff - the food is too tasty to have it ruined by such a terrible service experience.

The return of one of chicago’s greatest spots. We were devastated when Cafe Marie-Jeanne closed during the pandemic and came to atta girl straight away when we found out they opened. Delicious, unpretentious, and quality. The duck frites are unmatched!

I came here for brunch! Friendly staff, fantastic French toast and a strong mimosa! Perfect spot for a girls day or date night!

Google
Service has some kinks to be worked out, but that’s to be expected of a restaurant that just opened up. Everyone was perfectly friendly and welcoming, but things clearly weren’t running smoothly yet. The food was hit or miss: the shrimp were terribly overcooked, and while the smoked fish tasted really nice, the portion was really meager for the price. The burger, however, was phenomenal, and the braised endive was lovely. The fries were delicious, if not a little dark. Drinks were solid, and this is probably the most balanced dirty martini I’ve ever had. Eager to come back once everyone has settled in and things are running more smoothly.

Came here for the first time on Friday night. Made a reservation a week or two before - easy to make for 4 people, there were plenty of times available! We loved the mussels and the steak tartare. The burger was good (small portion), but no contender to Table Donkey Sticks. We ended up getting a lot of fries - we prob should have asked if we could sub a side or two. I would def come back for the happy hour and to try more of the menu. Their staff was also amazing - host, servers, and waiter. Waiter knew the menu well and provided excellent drink recs. They also gave us good portion recs as we were sharing plates.

Yelp
Full disclosure: this is a review of a happy hour experience. No idea what main dining is like. Okay, so my wife and I moseyed down to Atta attracted to the promise of two dollar oysters. Not too crowded, plenty of open seats and great service. We got a dozen oysters for $2 a pop and ...they were HUGE. Not sure where they got these Godzilla mollusks, but they were monstrous and delicious. Gold medal. Silver medal to the cheese plate. Oooey, gooey and stanky blue. I hope they do well and will continue to feed me cheap oysters.

Yelp
The two of us decided to check out Atta Girl recently. Our server was really nice and friendly, but there were definitely some service delays during our visit from both her and the kitchen. I'm going to assume that they might be a bit short staffed at this time, so you may want to come on a night when you aren't pressed on time. We ordered the Cheeseburger, Frites/Fries, Steak, and Calvados Old Fashioned, Espresso Martini. The steak wasn't bad, but very average. It seemed a bit under seasoned and not memorable. The burger was really good and I would get it again. The fries are addicting!!!!! I must have these again soon. The Calvados Old Fashioned was a great drink. Logan Square really lacks many options for oyster happy hours. Atta Girl currently has a happy hour that features $2 oysters and other items. I would love to come back for this and also try the smoked duck from the regular menu.

Yelp
We only stopped in for a drink but the vibe was good. Came in on a Friday night to have a cocktail before our dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant. I had previously seen this restaurant on IG and wanted to try for brunch or happy hour with my girlfriends. For some reason I thought this place would be extra girlie...but it isnt. We sat at bar and ordered an French 75 and Old Fashion. Our drinks were hand crafted. The staff were friendly and answered our questions about the drinks menu. I will say that the liquor options and beer selection was limited. In addition to the cocktails we ordered the IPA and tasted the pilsner on tap. IPA had a high level ABV which was great. The Pilsner was nothing special and I would of preferred the PBR in can. Anyway. All in all a cool spot. The music was good and the space was big. I wanna come back for Happy Hour and Dinner. The food smelled good and their oysters presentation was classy.

Yelp
This place was a great find in the Logan Square area! Always excited to try new places, especially when they turn out to be this good. The ambiance and space is very open and welcoming. The place is large and warm with plenty of seating. The staff was very friendly, polite, and knowledgeable about the menu. They helped us navigate the menu perfectly and were happy to help throughout our visit. The food was incredible. We asked for "normal" condiments thinking we were getting typical brunch fare but we ended up not using them at all. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly making them amazing without all of the masks of condiments. The portion sizes were just right, everything was cooked to order, and there was clearly a lot of thought and passion in what we ate. Places like this are the reason I always try new establishments. Bc every once in a while, you stumble upon a place that is truly great at what they do. And this is one of those places. We are already excited to come back and try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
I'm giving 'atta girl my typical additional star for new businesses to give em the benefit of the doubt. I really hope it gets better from here and I'll be delighted to be back. Sadly, this restaurant was clearly rushed to open prematurely and girl o girl does it show. It's not even fair to the staff, who are generally lovely but clearly extremely under trained. My friends and I popped in for dinner with a reservation. We didn't get to try the food because we had such an off putting experience we just had a glass of wine and left. The food menu is small but promising, but we felt that all signs pointed to a likely less than positive outcome were we to stay. They did not overhaul the inside whatsoever. It feels like a sloppy makeover from the last place. Prices reflect upper middle, like for a date night for most people, or maybe even a group birthday dinner. I'd expect $50-100 per person depending on if you order drinks or not. Service was wildly slow and completely lacked urgency. It wasn't just us, there were several other tables around us sitting and waiting, looking agitated. Our server didn't know the menu well, which again isn't their fault but is a reflection on training and rushing the opening. There were some weird comments made to us that again felt like a lack of training. We didn't feel particularly welcomed. I'm not a stickler for dress codes at all but I do think the current one they have in place is far too informal and sloppy for hospitality. At the risk of sounding boomery... If the guests are dressed up and the staff are wearing more or less PJs, something is off. Our impression from this first visit is not a positive one but I really hope others have more positive experiences and we can be back to try it again with a very different result. This is a great location that deserves greatness.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place for the ambience but the food fell very short. I came on a rainy day for oysters and burgers because I've heard of them and everywhere else was booked. The burger was honestly not good but I was hungry so I ate it. It had a very odd bun that didn't have the texture to hold it together and I don't like the flavor of the sauce either. It was extremely messy and the fries were also flavorless and oily. The place was super nice inside and I enjoyed the oysters but that's it. I would only come back for a drink.

Tiffany J.

Yelp
We tried Atta Girl for dinner and it did not disappoint. The staff was very nice and helpful with explaining the menu. We got the happy hour special of pink moon oysters, the cheeseburger Marie-jeanne, with a side of champignon, and the 1/2 smoked duck frites. The burger was delicious and saucy. The champignon were flavored perfectly and was a great side dish. The fries and sauce on the smoked duck were also really good! The fries were crispy on the outside with a pillowy inside. They also have brunch that we would like to try.

Jessica D.

Yelp
I'm not sure why they have so many negative reviews about service, we had a great waitress and they were very attentive. the menu is small, but the veggie burger is great! The fries were far too greasy and overcooked in my opinion. I'd say overall 4/5, good vibes and decent happy hour options.

Peggy T.

Yelp
One of my new favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. As they're brand new, I tried not to expect perfection, but everything we had was excellent. The roast carrots and arugula salad were wonderful to start. I got the 1/4 chicken and frites and LOVED IT. My partner got the burger and LOVED IT. Great beer menu and many other things to try in the future. I really liked that the portions weren't massive and the prices were reasonable, a relief these days with new restaurants. The wait staff was especially friendly and did a great job. The meal was a smidge on the sweet side, I would ask for the chicken sauce on the side next time. I can't wait to try the brunch, especially if they're bringing the Marie Jeanne omelettes back. The decor felt a bit... suburban and dated, but I'm able to overlook that kind of stuff. Solid grade A.

Yelp
We decided to check out this new restaurant that replaced the beloved Dos Urban. We went on a weeknight when the restaurant was quiet and relatively empty. The burger was excellent and unique (smoked tomato jam was surprising in the best way). The fries were also great, my only complaint being that they were a little too greasy (some had oil dripping off when I picked them up). I was more ambivalent about the eggplant parm, which was good but not great due to being a little under seasoned. The service was polite and well paced. Ultimately, the price was a little high for what it offered but the burger was worth the trip!

Alex T.

Yelp
The service was not the best, the food was terrible along with the alcoholic beverages. Each refill of soda costed $3 and our server had no regard to let us know that there are no free refills. I can understand if this was a high end restaurant, but it is a pretty casual one. Worst experience at a restaurant. I literally downloaded Yelp and made an account to post this review because I have never had such a terrible experience at a food establishment.

Julie P.

Yelp
Went in with a group of 10 ppl for restaurant week. We were told all in the party had to order from the special menu or no one would be able to- red flag #1. Drinks took a long time to arrive and my martini was warm. Arugula salad was good and that was the end of the praise for this restaurant. Food came out cold and under seasoned. 3 of us ordered the eggplant parm all freezing, overly battered and mine was so undercooked it was inedible. Our server didn't bat an eye when she cleared 3 almost full plates of food and no one asked for a box. Portion sizes very small for what we paid. My husband's chicken not only arrived cold and then to top it off the server poured some cold beige gravy over it. Very disappointing and will definitely not return.

Jesse W.

Yelp
The food was good but the hostess was rude to me. I politely asked to be sat at a booth and she said "this is your table this evening" even though a booth was open! She could have sat me and my partner at the table I requested, and I did make a reservation so I don't understand why she would not help me. The food was solid but you're better off at Gretel next door.

Jorge H.

Yelp
We got seated quickly on a Saturday night. The oysters were ok. Frites (side order), ok but very greasy. The mushroom pasta was a small portion for the price.

Kiaya S.

Yelp
Cute little spot! Very friendly! Do not come here if you're super hungry! Portions are kids sized ( honestly the cinnamon roll and burger were the size of my palm.... Maybe)! That being said the burger had a good flavor! The fries we got didn't look like all the yummy warm crispy ones I see in the reviews and ours were cold but they were still tasty! This place is new so I would certainly go back now that I know how it is!!

Brooke G.

Yelp
Giving them 4 stars because the food was delicious, but the service was the worst I've encountered in a long time. We had a party of 4 and were seated promptly, but we sat for 25 min before a server came to our table. They never apologized for keeping us waiting and the server had zero enthusiasm, it seemed like she was just going through the motions. As we were finishing our meal, we noticed that we hadn't seen our server in a while and our drinks were empty. They apparently left and we were given a new server, who brought us one round of drinks and never offered us dessert. When she brought the drinks, she informed us that we were being switched to a third server who was nice, but that server never came by again. We were the last table left on that side of the restaurant and sat with empty drinks for 15 min. One of us had to flag someone down to ask for the check. The food was great - we had the beef tartare, gravlax, smoked duck, steak frites, mussels, and a salad. Not sure if they have dessert because we weren't offered any and they don't have a dessert menu on their site. They advertise happy hour after 9pm on Saturdays, but when it hit 9pm and we asked about happy hour, the server said they're not doing it anymore. In that case, you should take it off your website! They don't deserve 4 stars given the service, but the food was good so I don't want them to fail. I noticed a lot of the reviews mentioned bad service, I hope they'll do something with the feedback and make improvements.

Yelp
Chicago's best new restaurant of the year, and up there with one of the best(easily top 7 in Logan square). Honestly an absolute triumph Just the fries alone my friends and I went crazy for, and the staff was so warm and knowledgeable. Amazingly cool decor and especially the atta girl mosaic- very cool! Don't sleep on this and go there - lucky to get in early!!!!!!

Laura G.

Yelp
Great new spot in Logan square, bringing back some of the favorites from cafe marie-Jeanne. Came for drinks and a few bites, and will be back. Wonderful wine selection, delicious food, and great service and atmosphere. Looking forward to trying their new brunch service soon.

Christopher G.

Yelp
Looking at these reviews it seems like Atta Girl had a rough start, but I'm here to tell you that they're great! My wife and I went for dinner a few weeks ago and had a fantastic time. Service was quick, friendly, and helpful. The food came out quickly, but not too fast, we had a well paced meal. Everything was plated beautifully and crafted well. The cheese, charcuterie, and wine program is executed fantastically well. You can tell they're related to Table Donkey Stick. Can't wait to go back again.

Charlie G.

Yelp
Amazing brunch, well up there with Lula and a worthy successor to Cafe Marie Jean (RIP). Unexpected, artisanal, personal, whimsical, exceptional menu and nice service.

Donald C.

Yelp
The service was amazing. The restaurant is beautiful. The food needs some attention. Do not get the crudite and/or the vegan dessert.

Caitlin B.

Yelp
Easily the worst restaurant I have been in Chicago. First off they season absolutely nothing. I got the Steak and Frites. It was so cold the butter on top did not melt. I sent it back and it took 25 minutes to come back. The manager let me know it takes 25 minutes to cook and steak and frites??? Which is not possible. When it came out it was still freezing and the fries were covered in oil. I'm physically ill from how gross the entire thing was. Do not come here. I've never felt I have wasted my money so badly in my life. 25 minutes for steak and frites??? It's a French restaurant and that is a French staple. Get real.

Tori L.

Yelp
Honestly, the meat and cheese boards were great in variety. As for the actual dishes, absolutely not worth the money. Staff was also lacking in menu knowledge. Would return for drinks. Definitely a better place to chill at vs have dinner.

Nora G.

Yelp
Service was impeccable, Sierra was a great addition to our amazing meal. Will be back!

Yelp
The service was slow. What was very disappointing was the food. The food lacked flavor and seasoning. The only thing my friends and I really enjoyed were the cheese and meat boards. We also had the mussels had zero flavor and tasted over cooked, had the steak frites had no flavor, ordered the duck frites not the best rendition, the boqurines had no flavor, ordered the steak tartar was dry. The oysters were ok and by the time the eggplant parmesan hit the table we were so underwhelmed that we didn't even touch it. We ordered a lot of food cause we were excited. Definitely one of the worst restaurants I've visited in Chicago when it comes to food.

Elle M.

Yelp
delicious burgers , although they are pretty small. i was full tho because of the large amount of fries. the jam on the burger is to die for and adds a whole new level of flavor, and our server was attentive and lovely! not sure why I saw reviews saying the place looked cheap, it wasn't anything super special, but I thought it was quite beautiful and elegant.

A G.

Yelp
Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. A great new/old spot. The burger and frites are simply amazing.

Spencer H.

Yelp
The aesthetics of Atta Girl are awful, from the cheap tables, to the inexplicably ugly decor, terrible seats, super bright lights, servers wearing pajamas??.... We couldn't stop talking about how bad everything looked. The food was delicious, but it just couldn't make up to the experience of having to sit there for two hours. Very weird experience. Maybe order takeout??

Amanda L.

Yelp
First off, Yelp can take the backseat. The staff here, the food here, Carmen is a dream come true, that's the spotlight. I loved my visit here and truly because the staff made it. Would sacrifice my first born to experience this again

Martha M.

Yelp
Good food, but smaller portions. Stopped in on a whim and glad that we went. Didn't try any drinks. Service was great!

Diana G.

Yelp
What a special new spot in Logan! Looking for some delicious wine recs ? Your servers will be super knowledgeable and sweet as they guide you through your meal and drink selection. If you're looking for some classic dishes with a twist, check this place out. The decor is super cute and it's perfect for a yummy night out with a date or friends.
