The Best Bakeries In Montreal - Montreal - The Infatuation

"East of the Olympic Stadium in Hochelaga, Aube Boulangerie is baking some of the city’s best breads and pastries, with a cozy in-house café for enjoying them. It’s all about the sourdough flavor and technique here, especially in their sesame bread and baguettes. The viennoiseries (with some gluten-free options) are real showstoppers, including a range of croissants, like almond and chocolate, with and without hazelnuts. Aube’s babkas and bostock—a not-often-seen huge slice of brioche topped with almond paste and seasonal fruit—are the stuff dreams are made of. Settle in for a coffee and a treat before heading back to the counter for more things to bring home." - ivy lerner frank

My friend recommended this place and I was not disappointed. Lots of street parking, outdoor seating available. Cozy atmosphere. It gets a little busy during lunchtime. The indoor seating is a bit tight. I loved their selection of music (ex.. D'Angelo (RIP) songs in the front, Abba in the kitchen). You can see kitchen through the glass walls, which adds to the ambiance. Bathrooms are in the basement (I didn't see an elevator). As for the food, I enjoyed my breakfast croissandwich (the homemade pickles are a nice touch; the bread looks like toast but tastes like a croissant) and kouign-amann. The croissants are beautiful, so I took some home, too!

Wow. Some of the best baking I’ve ever had. The rustic sourdough is nice and chewy. The kouign amman is the perfect blend of crisp outside flakiness, and inside custardy texture. I love the breakfast sandwich, which is served on sliced bread made from croissant dough. And their coffee is high quality and the seasonal drinks are amazingly creative (I had a latte with corn-infused milk!) I also like the big window looking into the prep area, where you can watch delicious things being made before your eyes. This place is pretty exceptional overall. I don’t live in Montreal but I’ll be making a detour to Aube whenever I can.

Google
This was exactly what I wanted: a coffee/french bakery place. Superb help. Friendly and efficient. The latte and breakfast sandwich were so good, I got a latte to go, a baguette, a loaf of bread, and cookies to go. The breads were perfect. I want to drive the 378 miles to go back for more baguette. When I do return to Montreal, I will absolutely return.

I’ve been a regular here for a while, and honestly, the service is a complete toss-up. It feels like there are two different teams working here. Half the staff is incredible—welcoming, positive, and the reason I keep coming back. The other half, however, acts like they are being forced to work against their will. It’s disappointing to get attitude and 'bad faces' when you're just trying to get a coffee. This place has great potential, but the negative energy from some employees really drags down the hard work of the good ones 💪😉💪

OMG, this place is SO yummy!! Everything I had was delicious. The croissants were so flakey and well made. The staff was friendly & helpful & the mocha latte I had was perfect. Can’t recommend this place enough! Also, the interior design skills that went into the space are incredible, it’s beautiful inside!

Holy cow, this was the most marvelous surprise. Being in Montreal my mother picked this place cause it was close to our Airbnb. I always like staying in places that are a little less touristy and this area definitely didn't disappoint. Upon entry, the decor was absolutely gorgeous. And the pastries! I didn't know where to start and I didn't know how many to buy. We went with a classic croissant, a baklava croissant, and the cinnamon sugar twist. I don't know which one was my favorite, but I would highly recommend all of them. For Breakfast I ordered the tomato sandwich with pesto, my brother got the sandwich with Canadian bacon on it, and my mother got the granola. All of the items completely surpassed our expectations. I don't know if you're staying in this area or if you have a vehicle to come all the way up here, but please please make the effort because this place is a million and a half percent worth it.

At Aube Boulangerie, the blueberry-filled croissant is a true standout. The croissant itself is perfectly flaky and golden, with a satisfying crunch that gives way to soft, buttery layers. The blueberry filling is generous and vibrant, offering a natural sweetness with a hint of tartness that complements the richness of the pastry without overpowering it. Each bite feels indulgent yet balanced, and the textures work together beautifully. It’s the kind of pastry that feels like a treat but isn’t overly sweet, making it perfect for a morning snack alongside a coffee. If you’re a fan of fruit-filled pastries, this one is definitely worth trying. The craftsmanship is evident in every bite!

Baking perfection, from the sourdough to the viennoiseries made with the finest locally sourced seasonal ingredients and fermented with expert craftsmanship. Their bread and focaccia is a gold standard to aspire to as a sourdough bread baker myself.

Yelp
I love this place. I visited Aube Boulangerie after hearing someone else speak highly of it on TikTok. It's a little far to get here from the subway line but it's worth it. There is street parking available if you are driving. They speak both English and French. The barista was very knowledgeable and kind. We tried the lavender latte (seasonal drink), hot matcha latte (always available on their menu), iced matcha lemonade (seasonal drink), and a croissant. The lavender latte was delicious and if it didnt already have two shots of espresso, I would have gotten another one. Both the matcha latte and matcha lemonade were made with premium ceremonial grade matcha. We watched them prepare the matcha with a whisk, and they definitely didn't cheap out on the matcha. The croissant was a reasonable price (~$3) and it was flaky and airy. The overall vibe is 10/10 with both seating indoor and outdoor. They have four individual seats available with side tables, four tables for groups, and a long co-working table for up to 10 people. Spacious with a good amount of seating!
