The pastries were really good, and this doesn’t take away from their quality. However, I’m disappointed by the lack of transparency regarding ingredients.
I bought a chocolatine this afternoon that was not labeled as containing hazelnuts. Normally, a classic chocolatine does not contain hazelnuts, so we assumed it was the traditional version, as in the majority of bakeries. When I asked the employee about the ingredients, she didn’t know, and there was no ingredient list available or any effort made to find the information. Unfortunately, my boyfriend had an allergic reaction due to the hazelnuts inside the chocolate.
For people with food allergies, clear labeling or a visible warning about nuts is essential. After the reaction, I checked Google photos to see if I had missed something and noticed that a year ago the owners had labeled the chocolatine as containing hazelnuts. This information should have been kept on the label.
