We loved Aunty's Betty's Gin and Absinthe bar! This hidden establishment within the Morgan Street Food Hall beat out our visit to The green light speakeasy. The decor had a whole green and leafy modern vibe but with vintage touches. The staff was friendly and fun ( not stuffy or snooty) and the cocktail menu was so unique and playful! We stopped in quick after lunch just to check it out, but we enjoyed it so much, we went back before dinner. Don't miss this stop if you're in Raleigh!

I stopped in for a last drink on my way back to a hotel. Oh, I am so wise, because this place was the jam, literally. They had a jazz-like trio throwing down a jazz funk fusion that was awesome. I had the Todo’s Type and it was hands down the best and most balanced cocktail I had during my seven day road trip through North Carolina. So many other places have cocktails that look good on paper, but are made by bartenders that aren’t in tune with their ingredients. This guy knew what the drink was supposed to taste like. And he was charming on top of it. Would definitely return.

We had the best time at Aunty Betty’s! My friends and I were visiting Raleigh on a girls trip and stopped in. Ray and Steph were so fun, knowledgeable and talented! I told my server I had never tried absinthe and did not like the taste of Gin and they whipped up one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had using both! We had so much fun here. Seating is comfortable and the atmosphere was vibrant. Ray was happy to educate us on the history of absinthe and how it is made today. 10/10 experience, highly recommend.

Google
First time visiting Aunty Betty’s Gin bar. The atmosphere is very cool and you really have to look for this place as it’s a bit hidden like a speak-easy. The wife enjoyed the Manhattan Roulette while I stuck with rye whiskey. Delicious!

Google
I've had this place on my list and when we had guests come in town, especially one who loves gin, this was the perfect time to try it out! As you walk in, it's a cute little place, there were a few seats taken already, we were able to get seated at the bar even with the four of us, although it was hard to talk to each other, sitting next to one another. We liked watching the bartenders do their thing at the bar and they were knowledgeable about all kinds of drinks. While our time there was short as we had dinner reservations, we had a good night. This is definitely a place we'd want to come back to. (See pictures in the Photos section)

Google
Drinks (no food) awesome. Very pleased with the reasonably priced drinks. Good variety of drinks. Decor cool and great little couch and chair spots for more intimate conversations. You may miss the location. A door available in Food Hall but go closer to corner and that metal door is it!!!

Google
I can’t call them bartenders. Can’t call them mixologists. I’ll call them drink dealers since they got that good stuff. These DD’s are passionate, knowledgeable, and straight up fun! Love the vibe here! The wife and I did dealers choice and the drinks were phenomenal. What was great is the DD’s switched up, yet made the drinks exactly the same the second time around. I finished it off with the baller dealers choice. I felt bougie, I felt ritzy, and when I was done I felt tipsy. Great people, great drinks. Bravo!

Google
This is such a cool place, the vibe is so relaxing with the couches and arm chairs, it's just one of the most chill environments that you could ask for to enjoy cocktails with a date or friends. The servers / bartenders are always so nice and extremely knowledgeable. They can make pretty much any cocktail you could ask for and what I love is when I describe what I like and ask them to get creative and they never miss the mark with an amazing hand crafted drink. This is a must try for evening cocktails if you have not already.

Yelp
Aunty Bettys is in the same building as the Morgan Street Food Hall, and has its own entrance and seating area. They have an interesting cocktail and mocktail menu with a variety of things, they also have a dealer's choice where you tell the bartender what flavors you like and they'll try to accommodate. They had a lot of gin cocktails on their menu, gin doesn't agree with me, so I asked for a New York Sour, which is a variation of a whiskey sour with red wine instead of sweet and sour mix. They made the NY Sour with a nice egg white foam on top. They charged me $14 for that cocktail. It was a good time, and my friends and I went next door to the Food Hall for dinner.

Yelp
A cute craft bar slightly hidden behind Morgan Street Food Hall, making it a great gem for the area. My friend and I were having a bar hopping Saturday after eating at Barcelona Wine Bar, and I decided to hop on Yelp to see what other bars were within walking distance. I stumbled upon the page for Aunt Bettys, and it looked so cute from the pictures. We ended up walking through the food hall, and it did take us a minute to figure out that it was the location since they don't have a large entrance or distinct sign at the entrance of the bar. We took a seat at the bar and were greeted quickly. The bartenders and staff were helpful, charismatic, and eager to interact with customers. There were no more than about 15 patrons there on that particular day. I ordered a French 75 with tequila (a Mexican 75) and it was delicious! The decor is so cute and the place isn't large, but that's what makes it charming. We didn't stay long because the A/C wasn't working through the food hall and Aunt Bettys and it was a scorching day, but I recommend and plan to return for another visit.

Yelp
Tucked behind the bustle of of the Morgan Street Food Hall lies a not-so-secret secret: a whimsical den of gin, absinthe, and mischief. Step through the unassuming door near the buildings corner and find yourself in a moody little lair where botanicals bloom in every glass and green fairies are always welcome. Part apothecary, part speakeasy, all vibes -- this tucked-away tipple temple is your reward for being curious. Blink and you'll miss it -- sneeze and you'll lose your seat. This cozy little cocktail cave fills up faster than you can say "Negroni, please." With just enough room for a handful of lucky souls, it's part bar, part social experiment. Come early, come curious, and be prepared to elbow your way into the best seat you'll never want to give up. If you're in a rush, maybe try...literally anywhere else. Their cocktails take time -- because They're busy muddling together timeless classics, like a good Old Fashioned. But hey, perfection can't be microwaved. Sip slowly, wait longer, and remember: you can't rush greatness...or them. Cheers!

Yelp
The staff here make the place! Not only are they accommodating and friendly, they took their time recommending some after dinner cocktails as they directed us to some comfy couches. I love the artwork on the walls. I felt like I was visiting a friend's house for a quick drink before heading home. Def a place to check out. The French 75 was my fave.

Yelp
It took me a while to find Aunt Betty's, but once I found the right person to ask, they took me right to the door. He joked that it looks like a janitor's closet and he wasn't wrong. It was a great place with classy furniture and decor. They have many sitting areas with suede and velvet lounge furniture with tables to play games or rest your drink. I sat at the bar and met my bartender Ray who was quite the Connoisseur of mixology. The first thing on the menu was called Baller's choice, which is an opportunity for bartender to make drinks to the customers specifications. I asked for a bourbon drink that was refreshing. Ray made a great drink that was "spot on" to my request and the only additive I was familiar with was the bourbon. Ray definitely knew his flavors and took a lot of pride in the drinks he made. I enjoyed relaxing at the bar talking to Ray about current events and meeting other patrons. One gentlemen who sat beside me at the bar ordered a daiquiri, but it was not the "beachy" daiquiri in which I am accustomed. After talking with the gentlemen about, the "lost art of making daiquiris", I decided to have Ray make me one for my second drink. I enjoyed this drink also and as the menu says in the description for the daiquiri, "It is What it is, my Dude". It had an interesting taste and had a bit of texture thus the need for the drink to be screened. After I finished my drinks I notice 3 patrons playing Cantan at the seating area behind the bar. I am a big fan of strategy games including Cantan. Next time I visit, I'm going to find someone to play a game while enjoy drinks made by Ray. Aunt Betty's will be included in my Raleigh collection moving forward. Cheers!

Yelp
Amazing staff (shout out to our server who took care of inappropriate guests and then had a little gossip session with us after!). Came here on a Sunday night and they were so nice to accommodate me and sub egg whites for a substitute. The special sour was perfectly balanced and refreshing. The venue is connected to one of the two food halls in Raleigh and it is a nice stop after grabbing food or coming in from the street. You are greeted right away and I love the wild decor with all of the art for sale. There is a bar you can hang out at or couches and large chairs if you are in a bigger group. Extensive menu, great staff, and drinks. Gin is the best spirit and I am glad they have a place dedicated to it.

Yelp
A friend came to visit me in North Carolina while I was working there and we were looking for a place that was down to earth but served good cocktails. I saw the name Absinthe and being from New Orleans this place had me intrigued. Then when we arrived and looked at the place I knew before we sat down he had a winner. Little did my friend and I know we were at the best cocktail bar we had ever been to. As a person who travels alot I try to visit local cocktail bars and I must say the cocktails here are better than any I ordered in New Orleans, New York or Chicago. The mixologist expertise is beyond compare, the vibe is amazing and drinks are divine. Our experience was so good that another friend flew up and we literally spent the night at the bar and ordered dealers choice after dealers choice and each drink was completely different than the last with a great story behind them. Luckily I was based in Greenville but had I been in Raleigh I would have had a problem. To my friends who work there, this review is for you. Thank You for having the best bar in America and keep up the good work. I cant wait to be back. This place is like home.

Yelp
Drinks: phenomenal Vibes: immaculate Service: top notch This was the most fun date night I've had in a long time. I will very excitedly come back. The door is not as hard to find as other reviews made it seem. There's a neon sign, and it's attached to Morgan food hall. Drinks are a little expensive, but so good!
google avatar

Yelp
As a seasoned drinker and one who Likes to go to bars, it's...ok. The drinks are what'd you expect for a speakeasy, but lack bold favor and true experimentation. The inside is cool, which is where the stars come from - very cool and low key. The drinks, 1 out of 5, ambiance, 5 out of 5, service, 3 out of 5.
google avatar

Simone L.

Yelp
This place small but a good spot to hit along the night! It's connected to the Morgan street food hall! The service was great and the drinks were even better! If you have a big group I would NOT recommend this place! Small groups and date nights are perfect!
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Hard to find. It's on the side of Morgan street food hall. Now for the good part. The drinks and staff are amazing. We let the bartender pick our drinks and he didn't disappoint. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Breyana D.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my recent visit to this bar. I would think it's categorized as a speakeasy as it's located in a deep corner of Morgan Street Hall. The menu is unique and expansive. And the bartenders are ready to provide suggestions if you're stuck trying to order. Just a heads up, all the cocktails are alcohol forward so be prepared. The bar itself has a relaxing environment with many cozy chairs and lounge areas. And there lots of great artwork and greenery helping to provide a warm vibe. The prices were pretty average for craft cocktails. And the service was great as well. The staff are very attentive! I look forward to visiting again soon!

Yelp
Great variety of unusual liquor choices with a selection of classic cocktails and delicious new ones to try. The bartenders, friendly and accommodating, are entertaining to watch. They suggest good selections if you're undecided about what to order. Morgan Street Food Hall is right outside their door and you can enjoy food with your expertly mixed cocktails. The space is softly lit and inviting. Plants are everywhere, giving a cool, comfortable atmosphere. The name is fun and quirky!
google avatar

Marci P.

Yelp
Great ambience and the person working was super helpful. All of us loved our drinks and they had a good amount of alcohol. You can bring in food from the food hall too! Wish I could give them more than 5stars. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Isn't this hidden little bar, Aunty Betty's Gin and Absinthe Bar @auntybettysbar @morganstreetfoodhall amazing?! I didn't even know it existed. A small door off to the side of @iylassouthern at the north end of the food hall leads you into the main bar through a wide hallway lined in green velvet sofas and plants. This place has a calming and chillaxed vibe with a very easygoing bartender who explained all the real, strong ginger beers he had available. Drool! I wasn't able to try anything on my short trip with the kids, but wow! What an ambience. This would be a great date location. You truly feel hidden in a sparkly green cocoon. This is a small bar with an intimate feel but there is also ample seating from entrance extending into the main bar.

Yelp
Eclectic is how I would describe this tucked away bar inside of the Morgan Street Food Hall. We were looking for a nite cap after dinner in the downtown area of Raleigh last night. Aunt Betty's fit the bill. It's dark, it's noisy, and the drinks are really really good here. Like I said, it's eclectic and the ambient lighting adds to that mood. I went with the Negroni of The Century and my wife had the Bootsy Collins. Both were tasty and fulfilled the nite cap requirement lol. It's definitely on the bookmarked list for a future visit.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Great little gin bar. I was completely surprised when we stepped into Aunt Betty's. The velvet couch's and chairs are inviting and comfortable that you never want to leave. The bar tender was an amazing mixologist and watching him make your drink was mesmerizing.
google avatar

Janet C.

Yelp
The bartender was amazing. Drinks were fantastic, loved the Negroni of the Century of the Week, 4th Street Flip, Manhattan, and the bartender's choice. Such a great relaxing space to enjoy beverages. Conveniently located off of the Morgan Street Food Hall.
google avatar

Allison D.

Yelp
Top notch. Bartenders had great personality and knowledge. Love the options and the atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Auntie Betty's gin bar is a very unique speakeasy type of a bar. The drinks are outstanding and the atmosphere is very nice. If you're a gin drinker, this is the place you need to visit.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
What an adorable little place. Atmosphere is so nice. Love the decor. Wish more places took the time to make their place look unique like this establishment. Nice music playing in the background and not too loud so you can still talk to your friends. Drinks are on the high end but it is a Gin bar. My drink was delicious. I told the server that I like sweet and don't want to taste the alcohol haha The bartender did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place for a chill time.
google avatar

Yelp
I am a Cosmo girly. I asked the bartender for something similar and he delivered! I loved my drink. The vibes are great and it's a fun, relaxing atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I always love it here anytime I'm in Raleigh. It's a gin bar so if u don't like Gin, u may have to be more creative. They have a lot of out of the box drinks. They ask you about any allergies so they can tailor it for your palette. It's indoor and outdoor seating but the outdoor is pretty lean. If u don't know where you going u may miss it because the door is kinda unmarked but it's so worth it. Inside is nice and decorative. Very good view on the walls. They take good care of you, I support it!

Yelp
Dropped in for a drink on Wednesday. Great go-to for a nightcap nothing more than that for me. I had the Hendricks martini, which was made well and more than enough to end my night and prepare for the remainder of my workweek with ease. The staff here are nice and welcoming. The space is clean and the ambiance is perfect. The decor is different. I like it!
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Cool hidden bar with a great menu. Not a lot of dark liquor options which makes sense since it's mainly gin and absinthe would definitely check out

Bri D.

Yelp
The bartender has a poor attitude and takes it out on customers. I recommend skipping this bar if you value customer service over a cute atmosphere.
google avatar

Rowan L.

Yelp
Top notch place for cocktails that are perfectly made, with outstanding positive/chill vibe and great service. Thanks Aunt Betty's team - my second time here and it won't be the last!
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
1st off this place can be a little hard to find but it's worth it, it's very small and intimate. We had friends take us out here before dinner and the drinks were great - they aren't cheap but the quality is definitely there as well as the knowledge the staff brings to the experience.
google avatar

Taina J.

Yelp
This place was really unique, but more of a place to start the night at since it was really small inside (Try to get there early if you can do to limited space). The drinks were absolutely delicious, and the bartenders were really knowledgeable.
google avatar

Sahib G.

Yelp
Aunt Bettys is the latest addition to Raleighs Speakeasy spot. Tucked away in the corner of Morgan Street Food Hall, Aunt Bettys serves some great cocktails. If you are a Gin fan, then you HAVE to try this place out. Greg makes some great cocktails and will make you something off menu if you desire!
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Aunt Bettys gets me with her spicy cocktails and personable service. She is not a fan of my pdas, but i get it... other customers might dislike affection. Or she's jealous. That saucy minx with marvelous mixed drinks...
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
We had such a great date night here, it's a low-key bar that really set the chill mood! The dealers choice was an amazing drink and Reese's was our wonderful bartender. The vibe was perfect 10/10!

Tyler A.

Yelp
Strong drinks done right! This place is worth going out of your way for. Even if you don't love absinthe they'll make whatever you want and it'll be good!
google avatar

Tracy D.

Yelp
Great vibes here. Bartender was personable, knowledgeable, and super friendly. We'll definitely be back. They make a great cocktail!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cool spot! Beautifully curated selection of spirits. The talent behind the bar was superb.
google avatar

Max M.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite bar in the area. Every time I go I learn something from their passionate and knowledgable bartenders. It's fun to watch them do their thing and they clearly enjoy it. I can't imagine going anywhere else around here and being happy to pay $30 for a drink where I don't know what I'm getting (there are also $15 'Dealer's Choice' drinks available.)
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
The staff and atmosphere are spectacular! Great drinks too! It's hidden but well worth the search!
google avatar

Tom R.

Yelp
A tiny hidden bar with a huge foodhall in its closet ! Very cool place amazing service ... one of the best in Raleigh!
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
I love gin so I was excited to see this gin and absinthe bar open. It's so well decorated inside. I started off with the "how to start a fire" and that was a fun drink! We also tried a Japanese gin that was on special, the obituary, and a surprise with the dealer's choice. We had a blast with Rey, he is a talented mixologist. This is perfect for a date night or night out with friends! Grab a few drinks then head to the food hall for dinner.
google avatar

Mikkel W.

Yelp
Great bar, love the decor. It's accessible through a door on the outside of the food hall or inside next to Iyla's Southern Kitchen. The mural inside is very, very Instagram worthy (artist credit to @bryanleafstacy) and decor attractive with colorful velvet couches. They focus on gin and botanicals but can pretty much make you any cocktail you like. I don't like tonic, which I shared with the bartender, Ray. He said their tonic was superior and if I didn't like it he would swap it out, no cost. I loved it!! I had an On the Lash, which was quite refreshing and well balanced. Even the ice, which they hand make and cut, is gorgeous and crystal clear. It's a bit on the pricier side - my drink was $15 and most were between $12-$15 or so - but it was worth it for a high quality cocktail. We got there on a Saturday when they opened at 4pm. We preferred seeing it in the daylight (it gets rather good light) and the less crowded bar. But it was filling up just an hour later. We hope they do well and are around a long time!
google avatar

Jasmine W.

Yelp
The cutest bar I have ever been too. Nice music and vibe with comfortable chairs . The drinks are so good and my waiter was speedy and nice !
google avatar

Shoba K.

Yelp
Great drinks in a cute space. Bartenders seemed very knowledgeable about cocktails, gin, absinthe and were incredibly friendly. Loved the vibe and music playing in the background.
google avatar

Ken A.

Yelp
Came to celebrate a friends birthday, and we got two rounds of Baller's choice. This meant I got to sample 7 different premium cocktails. Every last one was incredible. I did enjoy the tequila and bourbon based ones the most, but they were all amazing. Fully recommend.

Justin M.

Yelp
Negroni - excellent Mars, baby - perfect Gina and tonic - excellent 4th street flip - good

Pritii V.

Yelp
Aunty Betty's can be hard to find as there are no obvious signs. It's tucked in a corner inside Morgan Street Food Hall like a speakeasy. The ambience of this place is very cozy. Super chill and retro vibes. The walls are so colorful with pictures and plants. Great drinks. Our bartender was super nice. Great customer service!
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
What and awesome cocktail bar. It's in the north end of the market and the entrance from the market gives it a speakeasy feel. It's a great atmosphere. The bartenders were all next level mixologists. They have a great selection and I would encourage you to ask your bartender for recommendations. I learned a lot and got an amazing cocktail.

Kristin M.

Yelp
Wonderful drinks, wonderful ambience & friendly service!! This place is a hidden gem.

Nadine A.

Yelp
Delicious cocktails always! It's a fun little spot for a pre dinner or after dinner drink. Staff are always very enthusiastic. Great vibe!

Zoe T.

Yelp
Stopped by while in the area for a work trip, loved the vibe and the drinks! Such a cool little drinking spot to hangout and the bartender was great.
