Aura, a New Bar and Restaurant with Frozen Drinks, Is Coming to Osterman Beach | Eater Chicago
"At Kathy Osterman Beach near Edgewater, a new waterfront dining and drinking spot from Andersonville restaurateur Lindsey Anderson-Perez is set to open in mid-July, replacing the four-year-old bar LakeBreeze. Intentionally moving away from the typical cheese-fries, chicken-finger concession-stand vibe, the menu focuses on upscale seafood—ahi tuna tartare with mango and avocado, lobster cake sliders, shrimp po’ boys, and blackened grouper tacos—paired with frozen cocktails like rum runners, piña coladas and a swirl called the “Edgewater Vice,” plus draft and canned beers and canned wines. As a wine-bar owner, Anderson-Perez plans to highlight quality canned selections and a fun lineup of Chilean sparklers, sauvignon blancs, and pinot noirs. Bathed in oceanic teal tones and pops of pearly pink and designed by Forward Rewind Design, the 32-seat space spreads between sun-drenched beach chairs and shaded pergola tables, with a small bar seating 10, hanging basket swings, woven lampshades, and lush plants; an agreement with the Chicago Park District should keep it open through October so patrons can eventually expect fire pits and heaters." - Naomi Waxman
