Ayannas London - Review - Canary Wharf - London - The Infatuation

"Canary Wharf isn’t known for its comforting, familial atmosphere but Ayannas goes some way to change that. The modern Caribbean restaurant is located on the corner of an A-road, and inside you’ll find white tablecloths, a grand piano, and curry goat served in filo pastry crowns. Despite these fancy affectations, what stands out about Ayannas is how relaxed everyone in the room is. Regulars are greeted like family, birthdays are celebrated with vibrant pink cocktails, and iron-y callaloo spring rolls are happily munched. The boneless curry goat is popular, even if it is missing a slap of scotch bonnet, and the weekend-only rum cake is a favourite among regulars." - Jake Missing

London’s Best Caribbean Food and Restaurants | Eater London

"In the shadows of east London’s Canary Wharf exists a rare opportunity for elegantly dressed curry goat and rice ‘n‘ peas accompanied by piano and swooning live music. The family here has endeavoured to introduce a level of silver service not commonly found in the cuisine; for afters, the indulgent homemade rum cake is not to be missed." - Riaz Phillips

Visited recently with friends and absolutely loved it. The food, drinks, staff and ambiance was amazing. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their meal and were full by the end of the evening. Definitely reccomend people to go and try out this family run gem for any special occasion. I will be going back again no doubt.

A really classy and intimate restaurant with white tablecloths and lovely lamps that create a cosy and romantic atmosphere. The service could not have been better, thanks to an extraordinarily friendly lady who could not have made us feel any better. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, which was beautifully presented, sophisticated and had just the right amount of spiciness. Excellent space for a date or a lovely dinner with friends. Highly recommended.

Came for a family birthday celebration. Finding authentic Jamaican food with great service is a unicorn in London. From the moment we entered service was attentive. The portion sizes generous, the food well seasoned and balanced. The food was well presented and the cocktails were strong!

Goat stew to die for Rich, umami-filled, unctuous, and just piccante enough to keep you wanting more, this is one excellent goat stew. And the people are nice too - basically, if you’re in the hood, you could do far worse 🤗

I had a fantastic experience dining here. The overall service was excellent — the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. The ambience was perfect too, with a warm and relaxed atmosphere that made the whole visit even more enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends. Everything from the service to the setting made it a great experience. If anything, the only thing that could make it even better would be continuing to maintain the same high standard, as everything was already spot on.

I visited Ayanna’s with my family this evening and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Prior to booking I spoke with Sarah as my cousin has ASD with sensory concerns and my mum has specific dietary needs. She was reassuring and accommodating which put us at ease before we even arrived. The booking system online is simple with clear prompts for dietary requirements or special occasions and the deposit system is straightforward. On arrival we were greeted warmly and offered to check in our coats. We were seated promptly and shown how to access the menu via QR code. There was a small menu error but the team resolved it quickly and efficiently. The food was outstanding. Every dish arrived hot, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The stew chicken in particular was exceptional. It tasted just like my grandmother used to make with all the comfort of home cooking combined with restaurant quality. Each bite was a reminder of authentic Caribbean flavours. For dessert Sarah recommended the ginger cake and it was truly unforgettable. Soft and warm in texture with the heat of stem ginger perfectly balanced by a rich caramel sauce, it was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. Ayanna’s is a family run restaurant and that love and care is felt in every aspect of the dining experience. From the service to the food everything is done with warmth and pride. Both my cousin and my sister, who can sometimes find dining out challenging, were very comfortable here. I would recommend Ayanna’s as an autism friendly restaurant. For those looking for a quieter setting the best days to visit are Tuesday and Wednesday. This remains our favourite spot for authentic, sophisticated yet down to earth Jamaican food. Highly recommended.

Google
My partner and I were recommended to try this restaurant for my birthday yesterday.(6.8.25 Jamaica independence day. So glad we did! It was a great experience from the moment we walked through the door. The food was AMAZING, great taste, flavour, presentation. BTW my partner is fussy when it comes to food, especially being a fellow Jamaican who can cook, he found no fault and was complimentary from the moment he tasted his starter through to the desert. Service 10/10 Environment / atmosphere 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Will definitely be back. Thank you all for a fantastic evening.

It is my first time trying Jamaican food and OMG the food is mind-blowing! I love the chili prawns! Jerk chicken is my husband’s favourite! Their chocolate fudge is too die for too

Yelp
I haven't been to Ayanna's to eat in yet but I order deliveries from here regularly and I haven't had a bad experience with the food yet. The delivery time can vary but I know Caribbean food isn't something you can cook quickly so I don't mind the wait because I know it'll be worth it. Highly recommend

Yelp
I chose this spot on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded. My food came out fast and tasted delicious. I ordered the oxtail, rice and peas, and plantain . For my cocktail I got the Jamaican mule. It's a great date night spot. It's very close to Canary Wharf.

Yelp
Every time I'm in London, it is a necessity that I make a booking at Ayannas. The food is consistently wonderful, but Ayanna remembers me every time and is so warm and welcoming. The whole experience of being in her space and in her presence is always one of my highlights. I can't wait for my next visit.

Yelp
This was my second visit to this restaurant and I'm disappointed to say that the second experience was even worse than the first! Came here for a family members birthday and we had all pre booked and pre paid for our meals. You either had the option of paying £40 for a two course meal or £45 for a three course meal. So imagine going with a partner, excluding your drinks, you've very easily found yourself racking up a £90 bill. By the time drinks are added you've very easily gone into the ££ Hundreds! With the meal being more on the pricey end, and for a restaurant to claim they are "fine dining" without a doubt I am expecting the experience to be worth the money. However, the restaurant was heavily short staffed to the point that the bartender was in between two roles of bartending and waitressing. The entire time spent at the restaurant there were only 4 different members of staff visible in the restaurant, who had to shift between roles. Of course, this had a dramatic effect in the quality of customer service which was consequently offered. Despite having already pre ordered our meals, we were left waiting 90 minutes before starters began coming out of the kitchen. I ordered the "cheesy lobster" which was dressed up nicely on a fancy plate but as a Bon vivant, it was simply cheddar cheese melted over lobster dressed up to be more than it was. After starters were eaten, it took almost another 40 mins for our "pre ordered" meals to come out. The rice which accompanied the main meals did not bring back the familiar and warm flavours you would typically get with a Jamaican curry/ jerk chicken. It was bland, had very little flavour to the point where the taste was almost gentrified. It lacked the authenticity and rich taste of Jamaican flavours. The jerk chicken was overly glazed in a sweet sauce and was not "jerked" enough. It had more of a zesty after taste. Contributing to the whole experience was the lack of air conditioning, in a restaurant which supposedly offers a fine dining experience, to have guests sweat whilst attempting to enjoy a nice meal is quite a disgrace. Amidst the grandness of the decoration, a modern air conditioning would have easily fitted onto the roof, making he experience just that more bearable. I think the concept of pre ordering meals was lost to Ayanna's. Even after guests chose their meals in advance, to have to wait over an hour to eat is shambolic. If only the same urgency was applied as it was when requesting that each guest pay first. If I was to bring my own friends for an authentic and rich experience trying out Jamaican food, Ayanna's would unfortunately not be a contender.
