My husband bought me a cake from here for my birthday last year and it was amazing so I knew I had to get my baby shower cake here as well. While they aren’t great at responding via email (I recommend going in person), they made my cake dream come true. I gave them a few inspiration pics, sent them an image which they printed for the cake and gave them creative freedom and it was even better than expected. It not only looked beautiful but it tasted delicious. We got the white cake with whipped cream and fruit filling, highly recommend! It was worth the custom price!

We received our wedding cake and cupcakes from Azucar and they were wonderful to work with! Easy process, accommodated many flavor requests, and absolutely beautiful- not to mention, so so tasty!! All of our cupcakes were gone by the end of the night. Great service!

Did our cake tasting and selections for our wedding. The cakes were so good we almost forgot to get a picture. We enjoyed our experience, we were given a good amount of privacy to discuss our opinions. Then we received great consolation for our selection. Looking forward to seeing it all come to life on our big day. Additional notes we have not yet tried their typical bakery items. But they looked delicious and they had multiple people coming in who seemed liek return customers. Will try more next trip.

Azucar Bakery was amazing to work with for our wedding, from the initial tasting all the way to day-of coordination. They made everything so easy and straightforward — I barely had to do anything besides tell them what I wanted, and they nailed it every time! Even with a last-minute request the week of the wedding, I sent them a picture of the cake design I had in mind, and they managed to make it look exactly like the picture — I was so impressed! I had heard that most couples end up with leftover wedding cake to take home, especially since we also had a dessert table, but we didn’t have a single piece left. It was a huge hit, and people couldn’t get enough! The cakes were absolutely delicious, and I’m so grateful for how perfect everything turned out. My only regret is that we didn’t save a slice for ourselves to enjoy later! If you're looking for a bakery that’s easy to work with, delivers on design, and makes delicious cakes, I highly recommend Azucar Bakery. They are truly awesome!

We got the birthday cake and cupcakes done for our daughter for 2 years and were pleasantly surprised with the results. One of my friend's suggested the place when we moved to CO and I am glad she did recommended this place. Kids parents who came to the party complemented the flavors as well. We will definitely be repeating customers.

We only needed a small cutting cake for our wedding, because our venue provided a dessert table, but we still wanted the whole experience. Our tasting with Azucar was so much fun and everything tasted amazing. We picked out our wedding cake together and then I went back to the bakery to order a surprise Groom's cake. The whole process was really easy. Azucar delivered and set up both cakes on our wedding day and everything went so smoothly. We plan to go back every year on our anniversary for a slice!

We are so grateful for Azucar for being a huge part of our special day! We got married on 05.04.24 and our cakes were PERFECT! The tasting was wonderful, and the whole team was so helpful through the entire process and even day of! We can't wait to get another guava cake for our one year anniversary!

I can't say enough good things about Azucar! We used them for our wedding cake, as they were a preferred vendor through our venue. Every cake we tried at our tasting was amazing, making it difficult to choose flavors. We ended up getting a 3-tier cake, cupcakes, and tiramisu. They were all a huge hit at the wedding, especially the tiramisu which was the best I've ever eaten. I only wish we had more leftovers! The cake was also exactly like the inspiration photo I shared with James, and I was amazed at how it turned out. Highly recommend.

We had Azucar make our wedding cake and were very happy with it! We loved trying several flavors at our tasting but ultimately picked the almond - delicious! I just wish we ate more of it on the day of but our guests loved it!

6/22 randomly closed with a generic white paper sign on door. Drove 40 minutes across town as they should be open based on hours. Unreliable. Wouldn't not trust.

They made the best cake for my boyfriend's birthday! It was beautiful and tasted amazing. It also froze well and tasted just as good later! 10/10 recommend! This is a chocolate cake, fudge frosting, with Bavarian cream inside.

Great custom cake from this bakery. I ordered a gender reveal cake for my friend and her husband, and they loved it! Azúcar bakery was able to get it done very quickly and it was ready at pick up. Great customer service and great cakes. Highly recommend!

Wonderful bakery on South Broadway! Lots of different options including single servings, and larger cakes that can be purchased right away. The staff was also very friendly and helpful! The cake we had was very delicious not too sweet

Our cake was rushed and missing pieces we specifically asked for. We asked for a Spider-Man cake with webs (Inspiration photo included and was a simple design) Webs were clearly rushed and don't even line up in the center, the white web on the right side is very messy and poorly done. Visually the cake looks terrible. I asked the nice woman why we were missing certain pieces on the cake and why it didn't line up but she seemed "uncaring" about the cosmetic of the cake. I'd also like to include we had the cake scheduled for pick up at 12, they pushed it to 1:00pm, then made us wait until 1:30on at the store for the cake just for it to look bad and have missing pieces. We paid too much money for a custom cake that they didn't care to do correctly, so unfortunately I will not be recommending this place nor going back for another cake.

Tasty desserts, affordable prices, it's clean and enough space to sit at the few tables and enjoy.

They customized my cake for ocean theme baby showered. Cake was delicious and super cute.

I have no issues paying more for a local bakery because time isn't cheap. I got 3 different cakes and a cheesecake for snacks on my older ones 18th birthday while she was getting big inked a few doors down. Everything was rich and delicious but not necessarily to my taste. Most people don't complain a cake is too rich. A glass of milk would have been perfect with the cakes. Staff was friendly. Place was plain which again, it's a bad thing. They do same sex couple cakes as there was a couple tasting cakes for their upcoming nuptials. I don't know what those prices are either as it's probably based on complexity.

Would absolutely order a cake from here again. I ordered my dads Christmas-Birthday cake from Azucar. It was a coconut cake with Bavarian cream filling. Super delicious, the cake was moist and not too dense, the cream filling was so tasty. The cake was super reasonably priced, I would have spent the same amount on a cake from Whole Foods. Can't wait to order more cakes from them again.

James and his team did a great job on our wedding cake! From the tasting session, to deliver and execution everything was amazing. We picked the Bavarian cream marble tiered cake with a semi naked frosting, as well as chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, and brownie bites for our guests. James was super flexible with the additional treats - just ask he can probably make it for you! He's a great baker and we loved supporting this small business for our wedding. We highly recommend whether you are having a wedding, birthday, or just looking for a small treat this is your one stop shop!

Oh my, what delicious pie!!! We ordered 4 pies for a large family Thanksgiving feast. The pies were amazing. My favorite was the rhubarb strawberry, almost everyone else elected the apple crumb as the best of all time, the pumpkin was rich and so delicious and the peanut butter chocolate pie was ridiculously decadent and Grandma Bette loved it! The homemade crust was amazing and I do not think we will enjoy another holiday without Azucar's fabulous pies! Run don't walk for these treats.

Caramel layered cake with a whipped cream frosting! Such a delicious and wonderful surprise! My boyfriend got me this cake for my birthday. It came with a cake server! It was so moist and delicious! The layers of caramel and cake were the perfect amount! I'm so glad he got a whipped cream frosting! Very fluffy! It was only the two of us but I felt like the cake could serve a few more people! Thank you so a delicious cake! Can't wait for the next special occasion!

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. We had placed an order 2 weeks in advance for my son's 4th birthday party, and they informed us the week of the party all was set to get the cake picked up on the day of the party. 1 day before the party they sent an email and they couldn't do the cake anymore , and denied ever saying the cake would be ready in time. We were stuck having to make our own cake the night before the party. They seemed to not even care about the issue, saying they had lots of orders to get done. Do not risk ordering from here if you want to have your cake on time for your event, buyer beware.

We have ordered from Azucar Bakery multiple times throughout the years and they always do a phenomenal job with their custom cakes! We ordered a "Brown Bear, What Do You See?" cake for my niece's birthday and they made it exactly with the pictures we sent! We will definitely continue to order from this bakery.

Everything about this place is perfection! The employees go above and beyond! I needed a cake last minute and with their busy schedule they were able to fit in another cake. The receptionist I think who I talked to first was so kind and the baker was very accommodating to our needs! Will definitely keep ordering cakes from Azucar again! Inside of the store was so clean and the goodies that were displayed I couldn't pass up.

the dulce de leche Alfajor cookie changed my life. All cookies will forever be compared to this one. I will dream about this cookie.

We paid an extra $58 for a specialized cake. They used whipped frosting instead of the buttercream requested and they left off all the rosettes that we paid extra for. I definitely do not recommend

Wonderful wedding cakes, the tasting was really well done and informative, super helping staff. You need to plan ahead a bit to get a tasting appointment. Overall an outstanding bakery!

We were on our way to fifty two 80s when we saw the sign that westworld rated them the best bakery in denver in 2015, so of course we had to stop in! We had the bavarian cream mini chocolate dipped cake. My husband called it a ding ding on steroids- moist chocolate cake, sweet bavarian cream, and this super crispy ganache shell on the exterior. It was a little pricey, but super rich and perfect to share. Next time I go in I'll branch out and go for something peruvian, like an empanada.

I was looking for the best carrot cake in Denver for my friend's birthday and I DEFINITELY found it! It was a hit with everyone!

The worker Clarke was so disrespectful to customers. We went in to order a cake for an event and when we got there it was as if we were a burden to be helped even though we were the only ones there at that moment. When we were helped we were talked to in a rude manner and rushed even though we talk to her for about 5 minutes. In the end she questioned if we would be able to cover the cost of a 100 dollar cake that looked unprofessionally made. I was confused why that was even a question if our intention was to order a cake. Please DO NOT GO HERE! Also Clarke, is rude if I forgot to mention that. Please go somewhere people would actually care to make your cake.

A COMPLETE JOKE! Paid over 200 bucks for this PIECE OF SHIT! This thing bears NO RESEMBLANCE to MY ORIGINAL DESIGN. In my first few emails I clearly mentioned a slope made of birdie and a small snowboarder going down it. See what I got: a large figure of a snowboarder standing there and a wrecked birdie by itself. THEY HAVE COMPLETELY MISSED ALL THE KEY POINTS IN MY DESIGN! I cannot believe I paid 200 bucks just for this piece of shit, after all the confirmation and discussion. This is a complete disaster and I will never order anything from them again!

My roommate gave me a list of bakeries that we're available for pickup and/or delivery so as long as we are quarantined, I am going go to down that list so this just happened to be the first one on the list. Number one because it starts with the letter A, but so far number one in my heart from what I've tasted from their baked goods. They have a lot of different kind of stuff, and their specialty is Peruvian sweets, so we grabbed some alfajors. I'm not too familiar with those, so I just grabbed the most aesthetically looking one and when I gave them to my roommate, she was shocked at how ginormous their portions are, so I guess they pull through with their advertisement! We also got one of each flavor of empanadas and all of them were equally delicious. We also had some aesthetically pleasing carrot cake that even taste as good as it looks (even tho it looked too good to eat at first, but luckily I have no self restraint when it comes to carrot cakes so I gobbled it up in one sitting), and my boyfriend really loved the confetti cake. The owner is also extremely kind, it made the visit a very special and happy visit! I wish I took pictures of all the goods but they were gobbled up so fast it slipped my sugary mind.

I ordered a birthday cake for my long distance boyfriend and it came out amazing! I wanted something small, just 1-3 servings and they were able to make a "1st birthday smash cake" for me. They were super quick in responding and made sure everything was perfect, even down to the color of the buttercream. They sent me an itemized list to show me how much everything would cost, which was super nice. The cake came out to be so cute and my boyfriend loved it! I got chocolate and peanut butter (his favorite) and he was so happy. Thank you guys for your amazing work! Can't wait to come back and order more from you when I'm a Colorado resident!

BEAUTIFUL DESIGNS, HELPFUL SERVERS, AMAZING AND UNIQUE FLAVORS!!! We want med to order a cake for baby shower. A friend of ours recommended this bakery. Since there were so many flavors that we haven't tried we went on Sunday so we could take advantage of free tasting they offer from 1 to 3pm. We tried carrot cake flavor, guava with cream cheese filling and vanilla with confetti fillingAnd traditional chocolate cake. It was needless to say that all the flavors were exceptional. Once we decided on flavor which was cool with cream cheese filling we wanted to discuss the design parameters the server the counter was very helpful she worked with us in our budget to make the perfect cake for us. For custom cakes they usually take order seven days before. But we had some color changes three days before the event and they accommodated those changes. The cake turned out both beautiful and delicious:) I would highly reccomend checking out this place!

Was a very cute and nice bakery. Had a good selection of items readily available and had 3 different types of fresh fruit juice. I was able to sample all of the juices, and they all were so delicious. So fresh and so smooth, and not too sweet. I got the mini carrot cake which was good, and hit the spot. I liked the ratio of the cake, as I am someone who dislikes too much frosting. I also got a dulche de leche (?) napoleon pastry, and that was also very good. The pastry was quite messy but the dulche on it was heavenly. They had a good selection for people with allergies, such as soy, as my boyfriend was able to find some dessert that didn't upset his food allergies.

We had our daughters baby shower cake made here. It was so beautiful & tasted delightful! So many guests asked where we ordered from so they could get a cake for their parties. Multiple remarks were the cake was so moist & delicious but not too sweet like cakes can be. We are excited to try the other pastries and baked goods they make in the future!

I contacted Azucar Bakery via email for my 50th Birthday Cake. They responded promptly and answered all my questions. I sent them a photo of the cake I wanted and their version was exact!! The cake was ready on time and simply beautiful!!!  More importantly, the marble cake with bavarian cream was delicious. We hated to take all the beautiful flowers off of it, but everyone raved about how moist and flavorful it was. Thank you for a delicious and beautiful cake!!

Azucar Bakery Great bakery on South Broadway! I recently picked up a 6" , 3-layer round for Bob's birthday. Custom orders must be made at least 7 days in advance, but I was lucky enough to find a chocolate "to go" cake. I didn't have a choice about the white frosting, but they were able to add a few words on top with rainbow sprinkles. It tasted amazing! The buttercream frosting, chocolate cake, and chocolate mousse filling were all decadent! It also cost half the price as those sold at dbar. Azucar recently won an award for one of the best wedding cake bakeries in Denver, and Peruvian desserts are another of their specialties, hence the Spanish name.

Azucar was incredible. My wife and I were looking for a bakery that was easy to work with, affordable and most importantly made really really delicious cake. We loved the tasting and actually went with one of the flavors they surprised us with. We ended up getting a 6" round cake for cutting (strawberry with strawberry filling) and two quarter sheet cakes (coconut walnut with dulce de leche filling OMG, and chocolate with chocolate ganache) and everything was so so so good. Couldn't be happier with this bakery.

Moist, delicious cakes and baked goods. Free samples of a couple offerings were out on the counter. I bought a pink guava cake and my husband got a sponge caramels filled cake. Both were flawless and delicious! I am a home baker from a multigenerational history of bakers and I am very very picky about bakery cakes. Usually I find them dull, stuff and dry. This was none of the above. Can't wait for my next birthday as I've requested cake from this little delight. Plus side, there's tables to eat, lots of coffee beverages too. Staff was helpful, cheerful and pleasant. Looking forward to my next visit!

I ordered a wedding cake from Azucar based on customer reviews online and was not disappointed! I ordered a white cake with raspberry and lemon filling, as well as cream cheese frosting. I provided Azucar with pictures of the cake style desired by the bride and they were able to match it exactly. Picking up the cake was easy, staff members were very helpful in explaining how best to move the cake. We provided our own flowers for decoration which worked out well. I would use azucar for future events and would recommend them to my friends.

First timer. Very impressed with the staff, store, and cake. All perfect! Loved the banana cake and filling - and the machine that sprayed on the dancing bears and terrapins!!

Loved the cake they made for us! It was delicious, it wasn't too dense which was perfect, the layers were separated by custard as to not overwhelm us with frosting, and the frosting was light and almost whipped cream-like which was a huge plus! Beautiful design, pretty much matched my description, would totally come back!

This review is long over due but here goes. We waited until the last minute to order a cake for my daughter's 3rd bday party. Don't do that. Azucar Bakery was able to put something together, using a cake graphic we bought off Amazon. They added borders and yummy chocolate shells. It was beautiful and my daughter loved it. The best part was that people raved about how delicious it was for days after. Cake won the party. We ordered the Funfetti with cream cheese but we can't wait to try other flavors! We will be repeat customers for sure, but promise not to wait until the last minute to order again.

Excellent pecan pie. Good butter-based crust. One of the best around town. Had some issues with my banana cake. Cake seemed to have some (unripe banana?) in it causing some of it to have a gummy texture. Cake was a little dry. Exchanged it for a very good white cake with Bavarian cream filling. Whipped cream frosting was nice and light and cake was not too rich. Good cake to frosting ratio. Well done. Good service.

The actual cake was great. Lemon poppy seed. There was a very skimpy layer of raspberry filling with no buttercream in between layers. The frosting is less than great. Needs to be an Italian or Swiss buttercream. Paid extra for a "custom" design that looked like it took all of 5 minutes and not close to what I asked for. They weren't interested in knowing about it. $70 for a quarter sheet cake is a bit pricey! Won't be back!

I feel like for some things the price was a little much, but for others perhaps they ought to have charged more for. We found out too late that if we wanted a Mocha Pionono, we would need to order a week in advance. The in store selection is a bit small, but you're still likely to find something you'd want :) their strawberry cream chocolate cake had more of a thicker brownie like consistency but was delicious regardless. The coffee they offered was RICH and some of the best I've tasted. To be honest I would've given it four stars for food quality/quantity but the customer service really sealed the deal. I didn't catch her name, but the woman (might've been the owner) who helped us was very, very patient and sweet. Now if I could just get my hands on that mocha pionono sometime... (P.S. they sell slices of a non mocha one in store; if you preorder one, it would be by the whole cake)

Cake ruined my birthday a bit. They use that super cheap whipped cream type icing. What's the point of cake with whipped cream icing? My boyfriend ordered buttercream icing - got the whipped cream cheap stuff instead. Cake was just "meh" and there barely any perceptible cream cheese icing between the layer. Was it even cream cheese? Couldn't even detect it so who knows. I look forward to cake every year on my birthday, the only time I indulge and this ruined it. The worst, go elsewhere for birthday cake unless you're really into whipped cream. Ugh. Cake from Safeway is 10x better.

Had such a great experience during my first trip to Azucar. The man working the front (I think the owner) was so sweet answering our questions and even offered us samples of a few items we were interested in. Everything was delicious. The key lime pie, guava turnover, dulce de leche stuffed cookies, cheesecake, and passion fruit juice were all amazing. I will be back!

I first heard about Azucar Bakery in the news a few years ago. Probably lots of people did. When I lived in Denver I didn't know about them and perhaps they were not open at the time when we did live there...I am not too sure. I am always a sucker for bakeries and so Azucar was a must go to just for that and they were a business that I wanted to support. A few years ago I ordered by mail and got the Dulce de Leche Roll which was delicious! Since we were staying in Englewood and going up and down Broadway it was critical that we swing by here and get some baked goods! At Azucar we got some great powdered sugar macaroons. They were so delicious! Another huge plus was that they had the Peruvian soda, Inca Kola which you don't see often but is a wonderful sweet soda treat! Azucar is a place I will make a point to return to whenever I am in Denver! Truly a great bakery!

Not sure how so many good reviews. Maybe I'm just unlucky. But absolutely bad business and bad customer service from the owner! We placed an order for our 1st year anniversary weeks in advance and paid completely. Go for pickup and they say they don't have our order.. So since it's our anniversary, of course we still want to celebrate so were willing to still allow them to fix the mistake and we'd pick up our order next day even though it wouldn't be able to be used for our anniversary. But the owner only offered a $10 gift card for a FUTURE order. So waste multiple tanks of gas, to get an order that they completely flopped on, but they were not willing to truly amend their mistake. Do not visit here if you want to actually receive your service!

Was excited to order from Azucar as I've heard so many compliments from friends. I was aggravated to say the least on my first visit. Arrived right when they opened at 8am as their very first patron, and no cakes in sight. No bakers, not even the requisite sugar scent wafting in the air at a usual bakery was present- I immediately became suspicious. I was hoping to bring home a cake from the display case and left empty handed. Apparently no bakers come onsite until 10:30am. Called at 10:30am - no cakes. Called at 11:30am - no cakes. Called at 2pm - score! - one cake available - even in the flavor and filling I was hoping for - CHOCOLATE WITH DULCE DE LECHE. Dissatisfied with the whole process. Unless you have a whole day to dedicate, good luck. Customer service was cold. When I inquired about the sweetness levels of fillings and cake - I got an eye roll right at 8:07am. Guess it was too early for the cashier to deal. I eventually did bring home a 6-inch customized with writing and sprinkles. But unfortunately they got the colors wrong. They added an unsightly green Pearl sprinkle instead of the elegant baby blue I asked for. Would not walk across the threshold of this establishment unless it's to redeem my 10% off Yelp check-in coupon.

Stopped in after finding this bakery highly rated on Yelp. The young lady at the counter was very helpful as I searched for the perfect birthday cake for my wife. She's a cake lover, she loves fancy cakes, unique cakes, cupcakes, you name it. So, her birthday is really my time to shine. She recommended and I finally selected a standard round Peruvian. They describe this cake as Yellow cake with Dulce de Leche filling. She offered to decorate it quickly and put a greeting on it which I was grateful for. When I presented it to my wife she was extremely excited because it was something new and different. I explained to here where I got it from and how they had won all kinds of awards and what not. Problem is, the cake really wasn't very good. It was dense and dry. Almost seemed like it had been frozen and then thawed out and frosted. I've made much better cakes out of boxes. This was a huge letdown for both of us. She had invited her cake loving girlfriend over to indulge in the cake as well so I looked like a fool. They both were good sports and make excused for the cake but bottom line it was bad. A week later I threw away over half the cake which is almost unheard of in our house with three kids. Hopefully this was just my bad run of luck.

Thank you for the delicious and beautiful wedding cake! We came in and worked with Danielo to make our cake design. He was so professional and made sure we understood what they could and couldn't do. He made suggestions like no navy blue frosting in the dead of summer or it will run. These suggestions were perfect for people who have never ordered a cake. The cake was delivered on time, looked amazing, and somehow tasted better. If you need cake, desert, or empanada's in Denver, this is your place! We had guava with guava frosting for the bottom cake and strawberry with fruit frosting on the top. We tasted a lot of amazing flavors at Azucar, but if I had to choose again, I would do the exact same pairing. I can't wait to have a reason to get another cake here, or just drive by and pick up a few deserts....

Tried to shop at Fifty Two 80s but didn't think it through as they were not open that day of the week. Have passed by this bakery on the way there many times so this time we decided to stop in for some empanadas to try. My son said he had one and liked it so in we went. We stepped up to the bakery case and immediately my mouth began to water. I'm not much of a sweets person but the cakes and desserts looked so amazing. And the empanadas were golden brown and beckoning to me. We hadn't had breakfast so we were hungry. Never mind that we were on our way to pick up our lunch order. We decided on a pumpkin cheesecake and chicken empanadas. She offered to heat them up for us so we agreed. While we waited we looked at the amazing cake designs they had made and if I ever need a special cake I'm going to inquire at this bakery. The smells were delightful and when we took our first bites of the empanadas they were delicious. Warm and tasty. The pastry crumbled in our mouths and the chicken was smooth in texture. Well seasoned and soft. My son liked the pumpkin cheesecake. Said it was the best dessert. I had a bite. Creamy and not too sweet. Pod ratio of crust to filling. Would definitely get more empanadas and desserts from here.
