"Like Proper Sausages, Babe’s is a meat shop in Palmetto Bay. So, yes, the patty is predictably delicious. But theirs is more of an old school burger—they keep it simple with just american cheese, pickles, and sriracha mayo. The bun is one of those squishy burger buns that gets steamed the longer you leave it in its wrapper. "Babe’s is a Palmetto Bay butcher shop, so it’s no surprise that the best part of this excellent sandwich is the meat. The smoked ham and roast pork are the headliners you bought tickets to see. You will want to stop halfway through eating this and ask them to sign your forehead. The pickles, swiss cheese, mustard, and cuban bread (which they bake themselves) are very capable and talented background singers. But that lovely combination of ham and pork? "If you’re headed to Babe’s Meat & Counter in Palmetto Bay, odds are you’re going for their outstanding meat selection, homemade sausages, or excellent sandwiches. Completely understandable. But if you’ve seen their croquetas and always said to yourself, “Maybe I’ll try one next time,” then we’re here to jiggle your face like Adam Sandler does to his third-grade classmate in Billy Madison and repeatedly whisper, “Get one.” Golf-ball sized, these croquetas are made using a bechamel base that includes bacon bits rendered from their slab bacon trim.
