Meh. Unimpressed with my first, and probably my last, visit to this pop-up summer locale.
Partnering with CCD Sips, I excitedly visited this indoor/outdoor watering hole on level 2 of the Kimmel Center on a Wednesday around 5:30. The place was packed, but I figured some nice views of city hall and $3 Yards drafts would be worth the hassle. We stood in a relatively short line for our Brawler draft. Not sure if the CO2 was off, but the beer tasted a little flat.
There was some seating indoors, but the views from the balcony were what brought me here, so I squished onto the balcony with all the other patrons; it was unbelievably packed. I was elbowed and shoved as I finally made my way to a small clearing in the crowd. When I was able to finally get to the edge of the balcony, the view was nothing special. You're directly across the street from two empty lots, and the umbrellas blocked city hall - there are nicer views from the street.
I was impressed with the Garces group menu collaborations, there was a nice variety of tapas items ranging form $6-10. While we didn't order anything to eat, the food I saw others sampling looked and smelled delicious.
The flat beer, the "meh" atmosphere, and the crowds make me think I won't be back.
There are better views and drink elsewhere if that's what you're after. At least definitely not during Sips.
