The Best Pizza In Seattle

"There’s not much to this mellow Ballard spot, other than a few taps, refrigerators where you can grab natural wine, and lest we forget the most important appliance: a pizza oven. That thing fires up glorious pies that are as plush and crackly as a dog’s favorite toy. There’s a BBQ pizza that’s toned down by bechamel and a gooey olive-oiled margherita. But the white Queen Bianca pie unironically rules all with its garlic bread vibes and ricotta rosettes. They can only bake one pizza at a time, but the beer, blasting EDM, and internalized college nostalgia should keep you occupied during the wait." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

12 Seattle Spots Serving Perfect Pizza

"This bar or bottle shop or whatever it is just like... solved the problem of making pizza crust? It’s thin but sturdy, foldable, just on the border between chewy and crispy. Honestly you could probably eat a plain pizza dough base here and love it but the toppings here are on-pint as well. Try the Princess Bianca, a white pie with a dusting of oregano that has dollops of ricotta that pair perfectly with being a human being with emotions and desires." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart, Meg van Huygen, Harry Cheadle

Ballard Beer Box - Review - Ballard - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Normally, we’d associate the dual presence of blacklights and pepperoni with a fraternity party. Ballard Beer Box is here to change that, and we can’t think of a better place for a last-minute group hang in the neighborhood. There’s not much to this mellow spot, other than a few taps, refrigerators where you can grab beer or natural wine, and lest we forget the most important appliance: a pizza oven. But the white Princess Bianca pie rules all, with its garlic bread energy and globs of ricotta that cool it all down. photo credit: Nate Watters We’d be lying if we said that there’s no catch, but there is. Ballard Beer Box’s oven can only bake one pizza at a time, a fact whose impact ranges from “no worries” to “everything’s ruined” depending on your plans. Are you settling in for some Tuesday trivia? No worries. Are you trying to order pies for a group before making a movie? Everything’s ruined. Just leave yourself enough time, and the beer, blasting EDM, and internalized college nostalgia should keep you occupied during the wait. @infatuation_seattle Normally, we’d associate the dual presence of blacklights and pepperoni with a fraternity party. Google
This pizza is all about dough and marinara! Everything is made in house and so so tasty. Perfect marinara too - definitely our favorite in town. Can’t go wrong with pizza and beer. Child and dog friendly. Have nice selection of beers on rotation! We live in the area and visit often.

Google
Ballard Beer Box is a Ballard Staple in my opinion! The beer selection is mind blowing!!! The service is amazing and the pizza is incredible! I am a service industry veteran with high standards! Ballard Beer Box exceeded expectations! I’ll definitely be back many times until I sip and eat my through the menu and then I’ll come back and do it all over again.

Google
Stopped in on a sunny Saturday during a bike ride pizza crawl and Ballard Beer Box did not disappoint. The Sicilian slice ($6) was loaded with pepperonis and topped with hot honey; absolutely delicious! We found the saltiness and sweetness to balance out quite well. Very enjoyable to eat at the outdoor tables in the sun, we’ll definitely be coming back and trying the other pizzas!

Google
Pretty straight forward place. I’ll come by again one day for food! I hear this place has the best pizza. It smelled extra special and they knew how important the quality of dough was as well. I loved the inside and outside atmosphere here and how inviting the staff was. They have an amazing selection of liquids and fantastic prices! What a great addition to the community and neighborhood.

Google
By far the best pizza in Seattle. Super chill staff and vibes. The Za is incredible. Some unique creations as well. Such a great variety of beers local and foreign on tap and bottled. They probably have the only outdoor seating in Ballard which catches the late afternoon sunlight. Occasionally they’ll do small concerts and improv events. Also they LOVE dogs! I friggin love this place.

Google
The vibes here are way off. The decor and layout are uncomfortable and weird. It gives off a super corporate vibe. It’s almost as if AI designed this place lol. Besides that, the prices are a bit high for what you’re getting. The pizza is okay, but expensive and not worth the price. Beer options were great and plenty imo. They even had plenty of non alcoholic drink options. They’re also dog friendly, have indoor and outdoor seating in the front and back.

Google
This is a gem worth the detour. The dough—made from organic flour—is light, chewy, and full of character, with just the right blister from the oven. Their in-house marinara is rich, bright, and clearly made with care—no shortcuts here. The fridge wall has a curated selection of excellent brews and rotating taps never disappoint. A locals’ favourite. Thanks for all your hard work Ballard Beer Box!

Google
Ample cozy seating. Love you can get pizza and beer. One person was working so the line does move slow. Worker didn’t have any recommendations. Tried a porter and picked up a few beers to try at home. Like the ambiance and would come back.

Yelp
My new favorite pizza place! I was doubtful that a restaurant named "beer box" would serve great pizza, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pizzas are a bit pricy but they have happy hour from 2-5pm on mondays-thurs. I really enjoyed the Princess Bianca and Pine and Swine pizzas. I havent tried the Godfather but it's on my list since it looks like they use the same mini pepperonis as Prince Street Pizza. There's a ton of seating + games inside.

Yelp
Good Pizza Friendly Staff Plenty of beer and various drinks to choose from Outdoor seating Dog Friendly What's not to like?! Definitely recommend stopping in

Yelp
Pizza was good, unique options and lots of extra toppings. Great selections of beer and other drinks. Service was nice and friendly. The patio is great but could use a little more decor to make the area more festive. Tivoli lights would make a huge difference. Overall first time visit left a good impression and we will come back soon.

Yelp
Great pizza super thin crust they make it fresh for you with delicious ingredients. Fun concept of being able to pick your own beer with a small corkage fee but their tap beer is great too! Service was super great.

Yelp
Sweet tap and bottle for sale place! My folks and I were up visiting Seattle and while this wasn't on our stop list, stumbled upon it after visiting the Nordic Museum down the street. Super nice lady behind the counter when we came in. Prices were Seattle-good. And their selection is extensive, saw some bottles we didn't know about and their house Rose was crisp and not too sweet. Casual and fun place, clean and the outdoor area has tables, games and such. If I lived here, would be a great go-to spot. I wish there was a 4.5, as the only challenge, was the food. Don't get me wrong their house-made pizza is great, but, for the not so hungry folks, some slice options or just more snacks (chips, packaged stuff or nuts), only had one bag of chips for sale, would be appreciated. Only whole pies here. But again, awesome! And I see that they have limited space and are trying to do only hot fresh, so this is just a me thing. Will be back up in July and will visit again! Thanks

Yelp
Ballard Beer Box is an incredible addition to the Ballard community! Our friend was visiting for the summer and ended up going almost every day. The space is spacious and inviting, with a huge selection of drinks, including plenty of non-alcoholic options. And let's talk about the pizza..it's divine! We loved trying different varieties, but the classic pepperoni topped with hot honey is our absolute favorite. It's a must-try! BBB is a great spot for drinks and delicious food.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this new spot in Ballard! Ballard Beer Box had a great selection of beers on tap and a huge selection of beers for purchase out of their wall of cold cases. They also had wine and nonalcoholic choices. This new space included a huge tropical mural on the main wall and there are large plants throughout the space which create a very welcoming and casual vibe. There is seating both inside and outside with many tables that seat up to 6 people, so it's a good place for groups. They are serving up delicious pizzas with unique toppings. We tried the Grand Masala which had a tikka masala base and was topped with paneer cheese, cherry peppers, and cilantro. I am already craving it again!

Yelp
Went for the ambiance, will return for the food. The interior is charming and lots of folks were catching up with friends here, dogs by their side. The drink selection was maybe a little smaller than I was anticipating but we easily found something to enjoy. There are a few games and we happily passed our time with some cribbage. There's also a happy hour from 2-6pm. The real standout is the pizza. The Grand Masala was phenomenal. I did not have high hopes after seeing that all pizzas had to wait for one little pizza oven to cook. But man the sauce was perfectly spiced, there were beautifully caramelized onions, hot peppers and cilantro were expertly interspersed, and the paneer had a great tang. My husband equally enjoyed his King BBBQ. The pizzas are a little much for one person, but honestly it was so good I wouldn't have wanted to share it. Side note: the menu boards have a gray background with small white text so it was difficult to read. I wouldn't have gotten the drink I did if I could have easily read the details.

Yelp
I live near by and have been waiting for the space to open. One my neighbors and I swung in for a glass of wine just to check things out a few weeks ago. Yesterday a group of five of us visited. We had two pizzas and a bruschetta , a bottle of wine, one Phoney Negroni and I had a beer from the cooler. Just something to know cause I didn't see a sign and didn't know till I was paying that there was a corkage fee. I'd say unless you really want try something in a can or bottle from the large selection of chilled items, go with something on tap if you don't want to pay the fee. The pizzas were good we had the margarita with arugula and the pear apple gorgonzola bruschetta. We really enjoyed the bruschetta it's on pizza dough and more oval shaped than the pizza. It's definitely nice to have something so close.

Yelp
I love their pepperoni godfather. This pizza is a staple defining part of Ballard. Everyone needs to experience this simple but delicious pizza that has me ordering every time I want pizza. I believe it has been the only pizza I have eaten in six months because it's what I crave when I want pizza. The best part is that they also have an amazing selection of beer and I've always found something special to drink. Highly recommend even though I wish I could keep it a secret.

Yelp
A new beer + pizza spot in Ballard and surprisingly has one of the best pizzas in town. We went here for trivia Tuesday, and we had so much fun! Recommended to check out their Instagram to see what event they have for the week!
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
This place is good but I don't think their pizza is the best around! It is an awesome spot to meet up, though the music was a bit loud. Arrived here on a Sunday night, it was dead empty. Just a few people came in to get pizzas to go, but I was really surprised by how little foot traffic there is, despite the size of the restaurant, and how frequently I see this name on Best Of lists. Ordered a white pizza and the Indian curry pizza. Not amazing in taste. I do love their on tap selection AND the fridge selection. It seems like a great neighborhood spot to peruse, though I didn't pay very much attention to the markup on the carry out alcohol. I primarily just liked the ample seating, the lighting, the vibes, the decor

Yelp
We were excited to try the pizza at Ballard Beerbox after seeing the great reviews but were really disappointed. The pizza is small for the price and we didn't have enough for two adults and two kids. The menu doesn't include the size but they really should. The pizza also fell apart as we tried to eat it but the crust did taste good.

Yelp
The Ballard Beer Box, a place I've walked by daily, finally lured me in for a beer. The cozy ambiance and friendly employee set the stage for what I hoped would be a delightful experience. The Ballard Beer Box is undeniably cute, with its inviting decor and warm vibes. Kudos to the super nice employee who welcomed me. Their friendliness made a positive first impression. Let's talk about the Pricing and Happy Hour. Here's where things took a turn. I ordered a 12 oz beer, expecting a $9 charge as per the menu. To my surprise, the bill rang up at $11.36 after tax. Not only was the pricing incorrect, but it also didn't reflect the supposed happy hour discount of 20%. The employee acknowledged the error but struggled to correct it. Frustration set in. Instead of the 12 oz I ordered, I received a 16 oz beer. While more beer is usually a win, paying $11.36 for it felt steep. Even in Seattle, where prices can be higher, this seemed excessive. I had expected a $7 happy hour deal. They advertise happy hour, but the execution fell short. If you're going to offer discounts, ensure they apply consistently. A plea to the establishment. Make sure your computer system aligns with the prices on the menu. It's a basic expectation. I didn't try their pizza, so I can't comment on that aspect. As for the price discrepancy, it's not the employee's fault. They tried their best, but the system failed. Perhaps I should have put my foot down, but I felt conflicted. Lesson learned. Despite the hiccup, the Ballard Beer Box has potential. I appreciate their kid- and dog-friendly policy, outdoor seating, and to-go beer and wine options. Here's hoping they iron out the kinks and deliver a smoother experience next time.

Yelp
Unimpressive new spot in Ballard, your money is better spent elsewhere. The vibe is uncomfortable, drinks are pricey, and the bartender is unhelpful. I live very close and was very disappointed in this new spot and will not be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm super excited about this place! We stopped in for their soft opening and just grabbed one beer each to check it out. It's super cool and can't wait for them to get more settled! The coolers have some super cool drinks in I can't wait to try! They have wine, non-alcoholic drinks and all sorts of fun beers with some classics even like Rainier! Everyone seemed so nice that worked there. They were helpful and friendly. It was cute inside with a little tropical pop and has what it looks like to be thrifted furniture. Super cute. I think some games would be a great touch. I'll for sure come back and can't wait for this to become the spot to hang!! Keep it coming can't wait to go more and the pizza looked delicious but we weren't very hungry. We'll try next time and post more pics!
google avatar

Dj S.

Yelp
We ate here just before thanksgiving and we both got horribly sick from eating the pizza. I knew I should have cancelled my order soon as I saw the cashier take our payment and immediately turn around and make our pizza without gloves. I know this is what made us sick, because it was the only thing we at that day. Definitely need to practice better food prep hygiene.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
Stopped by for some good pizza and to see how their beer menu measures up. Was not disappointed at all. 14 beers on tap, probably 100 in the cans. Buy the individual can or the six-pack. Order pies at the counter (not by the slice) get pours from the same guy doing the pizza. Loved the rotating pie selection (Dionysus) and would highly recommend. So why the 4 stars and not 5? Well, the children I was with really wanted sausage and pepperoni and they didn't have sausage. Not the end of the world, but I do wish I didn't have to wait in line with the customers ordering pizza if I just wanted a beer refill. Overall though 4/5 isn't bad at all and I would recommend this place.

Yelp
My husband and I recently moved into Mark 24 and it's conveniently right next to this gem. We love having our usual hang out spots when we lived in Belltown, but Ballard Beer Box is awesome! Makes me so happy to have a chill beer and pizza place next door that isn't grimy or shady. It's really nice inside, clean, and the staff are friendly! Especially Bodhi who we always see when we drop by. She's the sweetest! Always welcoming and talkative, she even treated our two dogs to some pepperoni! They have a wide selection of beers and ciders from other places and the pizza is really yummy! Look forward to becoming regulars here.
google avatar

Graham S.

Yelp
Excellent Pizza and specialty menu items, with a wide selection of excellent wines and beers. Nice ambience and huge backyard patio! Great addition to the Ballard area. Look forward to coming back!

Swany B.

Yelp
Grand masala pizza is just next level. Hands down the best Indian pizza I ever had. The ambience was modern yet cozy. Excellent service! Great beer and wine selection!!

Jason B.

Yelp
Very uncomfortable vibe. Terrible seating. Not enough food options. Lights are annoying. I was hoping this place would bring some life to this side of Market St but unfortunately it didn't.

Allison C.

Yelp
Great pepperoni pizza and beer selection. Very friendly service too! I'll be popping by this little neighborhood hang out more often.

Marie H.

Yelp
OMG this pizza is amazing. We got takeout. The crust is so chewy and flavorful. Can't believe there is such incredible pizza hidden in a bottle shop, but this will become our go-to! The Margarita is lovely, and the pepperoni with hot honey is totally addictive.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Been here twice now but just had to write a review. The Marguerita pizza was great with the basil and their crust was so good. This time I got the princess bianca and it's just so so so so good. The "sauce" underneath and just everything is so delicious. It would be 5 stars if it was either a little bigger or a little cheaper. Also the people working there were very nice and friendly. Worth a checkout for sure

Charlie C.

Yelp
Truly amazing pizza. They believe in the science of cooking pizza properly from the perfect super hot temperature to the type and amount of flour sprinkled on the bottom of the crust. The aroma of the pizza cooking is mouth watering. Also they have a cool selection of rare beers, meads, and other drinks from around the world, including some cool nonalcoholic beers. You MUST go here if you want pizza in Ballard.

Tom F.

Yelp
Love this place. Been here a few times, pizza is always absurdly good and fresh. Beers on tap are great and the bottle/can selection rocks. Staff are always super helpful and nice! I love sitting out front or on the back patio. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Julie H.

Yelp
We loved it! A gourmet $24 pizza and so many beers it's crazy! It's a great place. Lots of space inside. You order then they cook as you wait. Excellent. It's a bit out of the main rush of Marjet Street
google avatar

Ian C.

Yelp
I came here during the soft opening and loved the beer selection and atmosphere. The employees are very kind and when I came back today they remembered me. Come support a great place to hang out!

Yelp
Great li'l place for pizza & drinks! Plenty of seating and the pizza was fresh and tasty! Would highly recommend!

Stuart I.

Yelp
Great selection of beer and friendly service. Pizza was very tasty. Love the mural on the wall. Definitely coming back!

Ashish A.

Yelp
Tried the new Greek Pizza yesterday! It was reaaaally good. I don't think anyone is making such a good pizza with organic local ingredients. Had a bottle of Natural wine. Great service! Nice music! Very friendly staff. I'll come here again!

R B.

Yelp
Great collection of drinks and pizza with amazing ambiance! Service is quick and of good quality! In addition, it is a pet friendly place with lot of board games. All in all an outstanding hanging place with family and friends!

Stephen P.

Yelp
We stopped into the new Ballard Beer Box. Let me tell you, their draft and bottle/can selections are tremendous. They also have very nice wine selections too. Along with the great beer/wine we tried one of their house made pizzas. Oh boy, it was yummmmmy. Highly recommend a visit.

Chris G.

Yelp
The quickest most delicious pizza I've had in a while. Friendly service and quite the selection of beers. They also played excellent music the entire time we were there.

Tony P.

Yelp
As an East-coast Italian from NY let me just say this is the best pizza in Seattle maybe even in the whole state. Came in on a Sunday and there was one guy running the whole operation. We ordered a pepperoni godfather and a Caesar salad. No flop, perfect crust, and a sweet sauce really went well with the rest of the toppings. He even showed us some good canned beer to take home. We ate the pizza too fast to even take a picture! Will be returning very soon. Good pizza and good vibes here

Barinder S.

Yelp
I was there the other day with friends to check out Ballard Beer Box on Mk St. The owner was kind enough to let us sit in the patio (haven't opened officially). We had a gala time, soaked up some sun with chilled beer and pizza...
google avatar

Eric E.

Yelp
Super friendly bartenders, beer selection is really good, and surprisingly awesome pizza. Great to have a quality beer bar on this side of Ballard!

Jessica C.

Yelp
I went to the Ballard Beer Box for the first time with a group of friends, and was pleasantly surprised. They have a huge selection of beer and wine, and the pizza was delicious! There is seating out front, inside or in a large back patio. I also loved the ambiance inside. The lighting was an amazing blueish-purple. I'm not sure if that changes, but I loved it. One of my favorite things is that the bathroom was heated, which really makes a difference on those chilly nights. The best part of it all is that the staff was friendly and prompt. I will definitely go here again!
