The Best African and West African Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"This West African restaurant offers a taste of Senegalese food in southwest Atlanta. People can dive into specialties such as braised lamb shoulder in caramelized onion sauce or chicken meatballs served in a delicious tomato-based vegetable stew known as thiou boulettes. Not sure what to order? Go any day of the week and order the daily special at Bamba, which includes spinach chicken on Mondays and okra soup on Fridays." - Carolyn Desalu

I was disappointed with my latest visit here. I got the okra stew like I always do, however, this time the okra was stiff and straw like, as if I was eating pieces of hay. The experience of eating the meal got worse and worse after each bite, having to remove okra from my mouth, that I just decided to throw the rest of the container away. I’m not sure if this was just a bad batch that day, but it was enough to convince me not to eat the okra from their menu ever again.

This may be my new spot because I love Benachin and this one was perfect. I ordered extra vegetables on the side, but the sauce in the vegetables taste like it came out of a meat stew. I was assuming steamed veggies or something, but I really didn’t mind and ate it all. I don’t like these french fries and somewhere overcooked. I prefer they pick a different type of french fry. The plantains were burnt. I wouldn’t have put them in the box burnt. Just make more plantains. The drink was delicious. The grilled lamb was tasty. I want more of those mustard onions that came with the grilled lamb. I definitely order from this place again and their prices are fair with great portion sizes. I am glad I found this one, but I’m not ordering plantains or fries again, lol.

I haven't had too many good experiences with finding African food around the metro area. However, after trying this food, I have definitely found a go to spot! I tried the fattayah and the soupou kandjia with fufu. That fattayah was so good, I can eat a pan of those. Plus, it came with a spicy sauce on the side which took that fried patty to the next level! I could literally eat a jar of that hot sauce by itself. Both flavorful and spicy! The okra soup was excellent too! Had the right amount of flavor and tasted great with the fufu. You get a lot of food so you'll have a ton of leftovers. All in all, a great meal and you won't be disappointed with anything you try.

Google
Absolutely delicious food!! And it's all so fresh! Since discovering this restaurant, I have been here at least twice per week. Grilled lamb chops (Suya): top tier! You get many pieces with a Dijon onion sauce that's so tasty. Tender and really grilled (as in the smoke flavour is there from a real fire grill!) Grilled chicken (jerk): Amazing! Tender, well seasoned and again with the smoke of the grill all throughout. This too is served with onion sauce and pepper sauce. Whole Fish: My absolute favorite! It's literally the whole fish flash fried(for crispiness) and then open fire grilled to infused the smoke flavour. Well seasoned and served with the same onion sauce, pepper sauce and also another portion of sauteed onions, bell peppers. Jollof: hands down, the best Jollof I've had in Atlanta. I can tell they use smoked fish to make this one; the flavour is so rich. They also use cracked rice, which I personally like more than long grain. Plantain: perfect natural sweetness to balance the savory flavours of the Jollof. Fattayah(beef patty): addictive! No matter what I order, I always get at least one, lol. These are also made to order. Ground beef and ground lamb seasoned well, wrapped in a flaky pastry and fried til golden. I love this paired with the plantain. Sorrel: deep red and deeply satisfying! I love hibiscus tea and this one is proper. Nice sweetness, great balance of flavors including a hint of mint(excellent for digestion) Ginger pineapple juice: my favorite! It's the real deal. If you let it sit too long the ginger and pineapple puree will settle to the bottom (as it should). Just give it a shake and you're ready. I love ginger after a meal because it is also good for digestion. Dessert: fried dough balls, like puff puff if you're familiar with that. Great way to satisfy your sweet tooth with something chewy and not overly sweet. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm. Plenty of booths and very comfortable. The staff are very very nice; always attentive and accommodating and get your order cooked fast and correct. The owner is always around and is very personable. He is an accomplished chef and knows how to run a kitchen efficiently - kudos! Most people order carryout and plenty of UberEats and DoorDash drivers pick up here. Call ahead if you don't want to wait, but I don't mind cause the wait is never too long even though they cook your food fresh. If you enjoy West African cuisine, stop by here - you won't be disappointed! The portions are generous and the flavour is there!

Google
My Fiancé loves this spot and wanted me to try it so I gave it a shot . The beef patty was very good 4/5 only because the spice caught me off guard . What can I expect though lol they (Senegalese love spice ) I had the veggie plate which was okay as well . Had it for leftover the following day and was even better . 3/5 I didn’t go in just sat in the car . Also a must try is the ginger/pineapple drink

Favorite African restaurant, we ate inside and while eating I got my car hand washed.

Google
I really enjoyed the food. I ordered to go. Took a while to prepare so I recommend calling the order in. Any questions I asked they answered and explained. I have the cassava, egusi soup, jollof rice, and fufu. I tried 3 different drinks they had. The purple, which I think was hibiscus, was really good. Definitely will be back to try other things on the menu. Food was flavorful and filling.

Diseye Abiamaowzi

Google
Worst Egusi stew I had in my life and I loveee Egusi stew…absolutely terrible. The restaurant was dirty too. They didn’t clean up the booths or nothing. Just dirty plates all over the place. Just terrible. The hibiscus drink was cool and the samosas were okay but that’s about it, oh and the portion was big so that’s the only good thing but that stew was awful

Yelp
Food was delicious and you get lots of food for the price. This was my first time trying them... it was a take out order and everything was delicious. Had some Senegalese rice with lamb and some sweet rounded balls that were spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg I believe... not sure what they're called.
google avatar

Sheena G.

Yelp
Give me my food in a whole silver pan?! - you take win! So I was on the way home and wanted fish but didnt want to go more than 5 minutes off route. I figured at least the jollof might be good. The entire damn plate was DELICIOUS. food was hot and ready within 15 minutes, grilled to order. Service was friendly and zero issues. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
google avatar

ILikefood A.

Yelp
I ordered online. I got egusi & fufu. Definitely doesn't taste Nigerian because it is a Senegalese restaurant. Wasn't disgusting just not what i expected. 5/10 stars.
google avatar

Danny H.

Yelp
If I could give this zero stars I would! I ordered this on uber eats , 45 mins before closing when it arrived to my doorstep. There was no fufu or hot sauce like I asked for ! I called the restaurant and they passed the phone around the employee was screaming at me and demanded I call Uber because the driver must have taken my items . Now why would a Uber driver take fufu and some hot sauce! The package didn't look tampered with at all . If this was a honest mistake own it ! Customer service was awful

Yelp
Food is always missing. Dibi lamb with some rice is my go to order. Hit every time. Thank God for this place.

Malika M.

Yelp
EXCELLENT all around. The food is amazing, good vibes, great service, huge portions. My absolute favorite is the jumbalaya. Omg it's crazy. The national dish is good and so is the mafe with the spicy sauce. I will be trying every dish on the menu. AMAZING.
google avatar

Peridot L.

Yelp
Food was amazing but the place was not. It was a very hot Atlanta day and they only had a fan running. It must have been at least 110*F inside. Those temps affect the fridges and the temperature inside where raw food is kept. I do not feel it is safe for the employees or the patrons waiting for service. I don't think I'd patronize again. Sad. The food was delicious.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! I love talking to the staff & will definitely be back!!! Please do yourself a favor & try it!!!

Yelp
Wow, this place was phenomenal! I'm just starting to dive into African cuisine, and this Senegalese place pushed me far along the right path! I got the "cousins" combo, which is your choice of two dishes on the joloff rice. I chose the okra stew and the cassava leaves. Both were excellent! The flavor profile was off the chart. The okra stew was blended okra, African spices, and lamb. The cassava leaves was essentially prepared in the same manner, but its flavor was different. More fish and briny flavors compared to the deep earthy flavors of the okra stew. The joloff rice was very addictive - not sure what all went into this, but I had to force myself to not finish it all because it was a lot of rice! Lastly, the tenderness of the lamb was ridiculous! It came right off the bone, and was saturated with flavor. It was more tender than the lamb I've had at some other African restaurants. The lady who was working that day was very friendly too. Will definitely be coming back here.
google avatar

Richard N.

Yelp
Combo which includes curry lamb and fish of the day, very tasty, lots of rice though, but delicious nonetheless. I'd certainly return, wish there were more menu options.

Dj C.

Yelp
First time trying the food!!! I will definitely be coming back and bringing more of my family next time.the people were inviting and helpful the ambiance was so welcoming as well along with amazing service.

Tauheedah M.

Yelp
It hurts me to do this but I bought 2 lamb dibi's tonight and 2 chicken chieb dishes and all the rice was burnt and dry. The chicken was super dry. And they gave me very little onions on my lamb that it was just pathetic. I am hurt that I spent so much money on this food. I'm hurt that I have recommended them to other ppl as the best Senegalese in Atlanta. I am hurt that I have defended them when My Senegalese friend says they aren't good. This is officially a break up.
google avatar

LaShawne L.

Yelp
Seems like they don't serve a lot BUT oh when you taste their food you'll be pleasantly satisfied.

Imani J.

Yelp
The best fufu and egusi soup I've ever had!! Plus they are always so kind and so fast!
google avatar

Yelp
COVID 2020: They're still the same. I've definitely eaten here around 10x. Takeout only. Invited friends and everyone loves it. No inside seating. Can't really say they updated any safety measures. Added hand sanitizer. There was already the screen/glass around the food. Please update the decor. The floors and furniture always looks dirty. Guess what?? I'm still about to eat here!
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem for sure! Filled our souls! My daughter & I went here. She'd wanted to have fufu for a while & Senegal cuisine is hard to find. We were in atl for flag football & super excited when we found Bamba. Def will be returning when we are back up there during volleyball season! Look at that smile on her face!

N A.

Yelp
Loved it. They are always polite to my family and I, the food matches their service! Always!

Chuks M.

Yelp
The service was decent but it took long. I recommend ordering ahead over the phone if possible or online. The food is good I had to Dibi Khar and a ginger beverage. You can sit inside if you like.

Yelp
I know and love Senegalese food and I used to LOVE Bamba Cuisine! I Have been a loyal customer for 5+years and I was really impressed that they reinvested in the restaurant to make upgrade to the dining experience. That said, it's as if they are working hard to cater to a more "diverse" clientele and losing taste and authenticity in the process. The main ingredients that are essential to Senegalese flavor have begun to go down and the prices have gone up. They make no excuses and do nothing to appease the customers. Finally, and disappointingly, the owners are always super enthusiastic when white customers come. They are almost genuflecting and doing the most to give them service. I was even ignored over my white friend who I brought with me to have lunch. I fear that they are going the way of many places that want to expand but so so by diluting ingredients, raising prices, and doing anything to gain recognition from non black customers. C'est dommage!

Charles T.

Yelp
Great food, authentic cuisine and attentive staff. The restaurant is very clean inside.

Corey P.

Yelp
Small restaurant but it's not designed for dine in. They do have a few seats if you want to sit and eat but appears most patrons are taking the good to go. The food and flavor is consistent everytime. I've only been in this area a little over a month and have been here 3 ir mire times. You can't lose with the fried whole fish over cous cous or jollof (both are good and get busy with the sauce). Also the cassava leaves are tasty with the fufu or even by themselves. Don't forget to get one of their fattayah (lamb/beef patty). Even my picky 5 year old slams those! Wash it down with one of the homemade juices and your set...you'll be back trust me! Oh yeah and homey with the dreads was super cool and remembered my long ass order verbatim and with all the specifics.

Cheryl K.

Yelp
Omg! Y'all have no idea how much I missed Senegalese/Gambian food since I moved back to the USA in 2012! Not many places make it the same as it is in Senegal. But this place was sooooo good. I got TIEP BOU DIEN and it did not disappoint at all! Next time I want to see if I can order a big tray to take home and eat myself lol.
google avatar

Ebonie Q.

Yelp
I tried this place out for the first time yesterday. The food was very flavorful and tasty. A friend recommended i try the fish dish, I'm sorry I don't know the name of it and also the chicken yassif. I also ordered the lamb Shawarma. I'll definitely be back! My only complaint is the food was cold and took over 15 minutes , however it looked already pre-cooked. I would definitely like to try more things from the menu. Next time i want to try the whole fish and some type of sweet dessert..
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered through Uber Eats and I must say, the food was very good!!!! It was so good I didn't even get a picture of it! Lol I had the Dibi chicken, I love their pepper sauce and the puff puff and beef patty and lamb/chicken spring roll was delicious! Will try again!
google avatar

Vanessa D.

Yelp
Love their curry chicken. They are always friendly and welcoming. Also they give good sized portions of food.
google avatar

MrsHelena M.

Yelp
Lamb, steamed veggies, plantains and beignets (sp) were delicious. I don't bother with rice much so I didn't request it in my order.

Yelp
Really amazing food at very affordable prices. Bamba is my favorite African restaurant in Atlanta. I wouldn't recommend sitting in though because of the ambience.

Denise J.

Yelp
The food is ALWAYS impeccable. Some of the best cuisine and service in Atlanta. I'm a repeat customer!

Yelp
I am visiting Atlanta for work . I stopped by this place and I ordered the fish dish . It was okay . The service was good, the guy that took my order was nice. The ambiance isn't the prettiest but they always say those places have the best food . I would not return just because my dish was not good to me.

Sahil P.

Yelp
If I could, I would give it no stars. Flew back to Atlanta at 8pm, 9/19/21. Called from the airport and had a craving for West African food. Three items I asked for (cow foot & oxtail soup, jambalaya and 1 more dish- I forget) sold out. Settled for 2 orders of cassava leaf with lamb, Lamb Dhibi, jollof rice with fish, & 4 ginger/pineapple drinks. Senegalese food. After reviewing their online website and their menu, I observed the prices. No dish I ordered was over $13, with drinks $2.50. At max, perhaps $65-$70 with tax. And I was excited about the food- Family is West African, not from Senegal, but most food items are very similar... at least that's what I thought. In route from Atl airport to camp creek parkway, the store calls me. This should have been a red flag. The man continues... we have Jollof and lamb, just one left, you want. I'm like why you calling me and offering this. He says- you asked for something earlier we didn't have, but we have 1 item if this left. I continue- ok add it. Now.... Total I'm thinking $80-$85 max I arrive- reintroduce myself as the guy who called from airport. My food is already bagged. I thought wow great. As I now approach the counter- I see under the next to register- a food serving (buffet style set up) with food items (pre cooked and sitting in buffet style metal bins and barely covered.) In other words- food sitting out to be served as opposed to ready to cook fresh per order. Casava was sitting out and some white/ yellowish color rice that looked like couscous. As I grab the 2 large bags- they were Luke warm. I'm thinking to myself- I no my African food was not sitting in these metal bins as opposed to be cooked as I ordered. At anyrate- I ask for total- the man enters each item.... $16 and $17 prices. And $7 each for juice. The total was about $120. Nothing worse to calculate a bill based off of advertised pricing to now enter inside a store and being charged different prices. On top of what I observed in the metal bins to be old food. The register reads- custom pricing next to each item keyed. I responded- can you confirm if these prices are correct? And why is the juice $7 a piece. I informed the the man- I didn't expect to pay above $100 on the items. Next, he looks at the register and says- oh sorry, I keyed in the juice wrong. And I replied based on your website and menu.... No entree was above $13. Instead of the food item name being listed, why does it state 'custom charge' instead. He replies, on our website, those prices are old. We have new prices now. I have to get my father to fix that. I replied, you all need to fix that- that's highly misleading as this is my first time here and I try new food spots based on reviews and pricing and so forth. Next he goes off- he states, "you want or not... I don't need your money... I'm a millionaire in my country... I don't need to take money from you. For me- the next minute was critical. I replied, my friend- let's not talk about money as you don't me and I'm trying to give you some feedback on how to market and retain your customers through professionalism. He was irate/ and I replied, because I want to support African owned businesses, I support, however, be clear, the issue isn't about money, the issue is not taking accountability for your advertising and the principal of having inaccurate advertised pricing speaks to the ethics of the restaurant and also the quality of the food. He calmed down... somewhat and offered me to take 2 extra drinks. I replied, you don't understand business. I paid the bill.... once entering the car- I got gut feeling the food was going to be rubbish

Yelp
Amazing service and taste. The egusi soup was exactly what I needed and the fufu was nice and sticky. Great experience and I got my to go order so quickly. Everything tasted fresh and the turkey meat in the soup was seasoned to perfection. I like that they serve the spicy sauce in a separate container that way I can modulate the amount of heat I want. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Meh! I would say that I'd have to pass on this restaurant. The customer service was okay being that I had to wait after they told me my food was ready. The lady was nice enough to let me have a ginger drink instead of soda for the wait. The Ginger drink was delicious but very sweet. I ordered the lamb peanut soup with the dibi and it was okay. The peanut soup was so thick! I could barely eat it and I didn't know how to dilute it without messing up the meal so I picked out the lamb and added a little stew over the rice and made it work. The lamb was however cooked to perfection and very clean! I enjoyed that. The dibi was nicely seasoned but it was burnt for the most part. That was so frustrating because of my commute one and two, I could tell the ladies operating the kitchen was not going to be okay with the criticism or me asking for my money back. Soooo I just ate around the burnt pieces and enjoyed the onions doused in the juices. Lastly I didn't like how they had some teenage boy making plates. He looked young and was bare hands so that turned me off. All in all l, I'd say the dibi is worth a try but I myself will not return. Enjoy

Ms. Tee L.

Yelp
Good food... good folks... great place to eat authentic African food..!!( Love this place

Ms. L.

Yelp
HORRIBLE...Ordered from Uber eats and will never order from here again. The pictures speak for itself. Stay far away from this business. Waste of time and money!!!!

Laura W.

Yelp
Delicious West African food paired with warm friendly service. Would certainly recommend.

Yelp
Truly delicious authentic Senegalese food. This was my first time eating at this restaurant and eating Senegalese food. The cashier which was a lady, she was helpful with helping me choose something to try. She allowed me to sample the fish meal and I cant wait to go back to get it!! I had the MAFE Slow cooked lamb with vegetables in a zesty rich peanut sauce served on a bed of white rice but i switched it out with jollof rice

Jody H.

Yelp
I really like Bamba! the grilled lamb chops and beef Patties are so fresh. My only reasoning for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is they are always late with the food. It's worth it but annoying still.
google avatar

I'sata Y.

Yelp
Man oh man... this food brings back so much memories. From the traditional African decor to the Senegalese music playing, the moment you enter this cute little restaurant, you get a small glimpse of true Senegalese culture. My bf and I ordered some food from here to go. I love how they packaged the sauces in individual containers so they don't spill...that's clearly important lol The food itself was so flavorful,it exceeded my expectations. If I lived in Atlanta, I would def be a loyal customer. The restaurant itself is in a weird location, but don't let that deter you from eating there. You will not be disappointed. They also deliver.
google avatar

Hena A.

Yelp
Yum Yum Yum! First of all -- if you're looking for a burst of flavor in your mouth, african food should definitely be on the top of your list. They have a nice heavy menu that you really don't even need to look at because you walk into an assortment of food sitting right in front of your hungry eyes. I ordered the cousins special - $15 for 2 entree's and rice. It was more than enough food for 2 people or enough leftovers for 1 person to eat all week long. The peanut butter stew with goat is creamy with tender meat and the cassava with goat was nice and spicy with tons of flavor. They have plenty of parking with fast service. They have a few booth seats inside and two tv's positioned on opposite ends for a clear view. Personally would not sit and eat there as it is not very cozy, but I absolutely love the food at this hole in the wall and is a great place to get food to go.
google avatar

JP P.

Yelp
The food is DELICIOUS! But the service and the cleanliness of this place is questionable. The Yassa and Mafe (sp?) and the whole fish are amazing! They also have these little donut things that are yummy! I love when the older man with glasses is there, as he is so friendly and nice. LITERALLY everyone else makes me feel like I owe them something when I walk in. Very rude and will cut you off. The last time I went the prices were definitely different on the menu than what was charged and when I asked the younger guy got aggressive about it! I decided a single woman picking the food alone I wouldn't push it. It's literally a hole in the wall, the furniture is disheveled on any given day. The eating area doesn't look well kept and honestly I limit my visits throughout the year. The food is truly delicious, but everything is else keeps me at a distance.
google avatar

Erykah B.

Yelp
The best Senegalese food in Atlanta Georgia. Please don't play with them. Always great positive energy when I come and the lambbbbbbbbb is incredible. Would gladly wait hours for this food but they are so quick. The michoui is braised for hours and is quick honestly a dish worth waiting for. Love them!!

Yelp
I'm so mad... I eat here and that's the only reason Im giving 2 stars because the food is normally good. this restaurant.... I don't know if it's because were in the middle of quarantine or what but lately, anytime I've ordered from them my order is messed up. Today was probably the worst. The fact that they let the food leave the restaurant like this shows that they don't care about anything. That's the part. First of all, the container of food is half empty and they sent it with the wrong form of side. I ordered two extra drinks that never came with my food... And there's no meat in the container of food that I ordered. I ordered lamb and I literally got a half full container of sauce and carrots. I asked for jollof rice, they send white rice. I am so irritated with this restaurant... I could have did this shit at home but I literally spent almost $20 on food and none of it is right. Not even a drink... The only thing I got was the right soda that I don't even want and was required to choose. And the food is cold. And I just ate some, the mafe is sour...I cannot. Lord why if you don't have the food or if it's not good and ready, would you send it out? This is real money I spent for a can of soda.
google avatar

Jaz T.

Yelp
I've only eaten there through UberEats and it's DELICIOUS!!! The lamb is flavorful and tender, it's always hot and they wrap it in carpenter paper so all of the flavors really lock in there. It's also very generous portion sizes. An order of lamb is big enough to split

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!! Atlanta. This restaurant is giving your city a bad name. I should be able to find good food from the diaspora here but this place has let me and I'm sure others down. I ordered through DoorDash and the driver texted me that there was no fish so THEY SENT CHICKEN. First the restaurant should have called to tell me this. Second I don't eat chicken. When I called the restaurant, they were very uptight. They claimed they don't take DoorDash even though it is clearly on their site and I was able to place the order via the app. I basically spent over $30 for two sorrel drinks, a salad and a side of jollof rice. Speaking of jollof rice.... Now let's talk about their so called jollof rice. They should be ASHAMED of themselves for calling this Jollof Rice. The flavor was so commercial, unauthentic and....flavorless. Now back to the customer service. The woman who answered the phone was completely unhelpful and gave me the impression that she could care less what I did with the food. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. If you ignore this review, eat here at your own risk. Tried the sorrel. It's terrible too.

Yelp
All I can say is this place is as authentic as it gets! We were the only ones in the restaurant on a saturday at noon (they had just opened I think) and we came in with no expectations and no experience of Senegalese food before. Our plates were customized with a variety of things available in trays at the front. $12/plate. We had super crunchy senalagese rice (similar looking to vietnamese broke rice) that seemed to be the crunchy part at the bottom of the rice cooker. We got okra stew over rice with a cows foot. The plate had an interesting undertone of bleu cheese and game-y-ness. The smell was very strong. The cow foot was interesting, just a lot of cartilage. Mountain of rice on both plates. Only vegetables were olives, corn, raisins, and peas mixed into the rice. Lamb was super juicy (not gamey smelling at all) and fell off the meat chunk. It was very easy to pull using a spoon. Very methodical server and allowed us to try some samples of the food Owners daughter was very hospitable and genuinely interested in how we enjoyed the food. Left with a restaurant made boyue fruit smoothie. Bf said it tastes like candy. Smells like fruity pebbles. Tastes slightly tart. Reminds me of cherimoya. Not classic smoothie taste like what you get at jamba juice. More like a yogurt drink. They make a ginger pineapple drink and hibiscus-like drink fresh every two days. Overall it was a wonderful experience. We got to try things that we've never gotten to try before. The price wasn't so bad for the amount of food that we got and the food was very filling. We plan on coming back in the future to try their dinner menu.

Yelp
I love African food and was pretty excited when my friend told me she found a senegalese restaurant. It's very small but comfortable. I love the decorations and booths. When we came in their credit card machine wasn't working so there was some hoopla but they told us to sit and enjoy our food while they worked on it. It was fixed by the time we were ready to go. They do have a menu you can order from and daily specials that are kind of buffet style. I ordered the yassa chicken from the buffet which actually taste a lot like food I grew up on.. like Egyptian or Tunisian food. It's made with olives and lemon and onion and is DELICIOUS. It's usually served with white rice but I got it with Jollof rice (spiced and broken rice) so normally it's $12 but mine was 15. A little steep...The portions were good although I think they should mix white and dark meat or else give me more dark meat! We also ordered the "peanut butter soup" which is more like a peanut curry made with lamb and carrots. This was not my fav. I liked it much better as leftovers when I added some coconut milk and cilantro. The peanut was just a little too heavy and the lamb was a bit gamey and gristly. It looked totally different than their grilled lamb in the pictures (a different dish that i didnt see there) and next time I will definitely try that. The best part is while walking out I asked about their juices ( they have several) and came across this brown milky substance that she said was BUI. I have never heard of that so she explained its a fruit from a tree and brought the pulp out to show me. It's from the baobab tree and it's so healthy!! (Seriously look it up, it's impressive) that drink was sooo good!! Tastes like a different kind of tamarind drink. I made it ice cold and poured it into glass cup Bc drinking out of the bottle is a bit off-putting due to its smell. It's sweet but so good. I will definitely return!! Get the yassa chicken and bui! In fact if I cant find baobab fruit at the farmers market today I am going to stock up from Bamba! Will update as I work my way through other dishes.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I had the Cousin's Combo (Tiep Bou Dien-the national dish / the Yassa with chicken). Both of them were amazing, the seasoning was spectacular. The place is pretty lay back and authentic, and the customer service was exceptional.

Yelp
Was recommended by a friend here. I love okra so I tried the Soupu Khandja, it was absolutely fantastic, some of the best I've had at any Senegalese restaurant. Rich, oily broth with plenty of lamb and cow foot meat. The broken jasmine rice was perfectly steamed. Have no complaints on any front. Simple and straight forward.

Yelp
I won't be back. I ordered a famous senegaleese dish, but the fish has a foul smell. not sure how long it has been seating in those metal dishes. I threw the whole plate away!!!
