I went to Banh Town this week for my second visit, and have been pleased with the food both times I've been. Each time, I've gotten a sandwich (obviously that's their focus, I mean the place is called Banh Town right?).
The first time I got the grilled pork, and it was pretty dang good, but had a couple of fatty bits that I wasn't too fond of. This time I got the 5-spice chicken, and it was excellent! This will be my go-to now for sure.
Their baguettes are right on the money, with a crunchy, crumbly crust, but nice and soft inside. They include a really nice balance of meat, cucumbers, cilantro, and pickled veggies, plus jalapeños (a must on a proper banh mi). The chicken was really well spiced, and nice and tender. They also include a touch of pate on their sandwiches, which really pulls the whole thing together. So yummy!
Unfortunately, ordering my sandwich was a bit of a challenge. Their menu is not accessible anywhere on their website (at least not on my mobile device), so I had to rely on images of it on Google. I didn't want to use DoorDash because it costs me more and the restaurant gets paid less, so I tried calling them directly several times, only to get a Verizon busy message. I was close by anyway, so I just went and ordered in person, and they said that their phone had not been occupied. They really need to figure this out because I guarantee they've lost potential customers who aren't going to jump through all those hoops, no matter how tasty a sandwich awaits on the other side!
If you face the same situation, I'd urge you to just go order in person - my sandwich was ready in about 5 minutes, and was well worth the wait.
