Banshee - Review - Graduate Hospital - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Banshee comes from the team behind the beloved (and now shuttered)Bing Bing Dim Sum, but this buzzy Graduate Hospital spot seems undecided on how it wants to stand out. The menu skews European, and when it stays there, it totally works—think a chicories salad with pear and goat cheese, a cracker-thin tart flambée topped with maitakes, and a roast half chicken finished with luscious marcona almond butter. Then come the detours: Kyoto carrots, hamachi crudo, and red kuri rice with koji butter that are solid but unnecessary. Add in cocktails that fall flat, and the whole meal feels disjointed. For now, Banshee is best treated as a stop for a glass of wine, one or two small plates, and the excellent ’80s pop soundtrack. We’ll be back soon to see if it finds its footing." - Alison B. Atlanta’s Restaurant Closings This January | Eater Atlanta

"The food-and-wine pop-up ending its residency at Banshee cited a lack of government support and resources; it will continue every Sunday and Monday through the following month with a possibility of return in a new iteration. In a lengthy Instagram post the team wrote, “Long Snake is not dying, but it has worn out this skin, and it will not return in the same form, as a weekly residency somewhere else.” They added, “When it returns, it will be less frequent, but more collaborative, and even more community driven. It will be outspoken, and it will be more creative.”" - Henna Bakshi

Going in, I knew Banshee would be good with the crew behind it, but it really exceeded my expectations. With a group of 4, we got to try most of the menu and each dish impressed us more than the next. The carrots, winter citrus salad, and tarte flambée were some stand outs for us, the desserts were both so yummy, the cocktails were delicious, the wine list is extensive, the service was incredible, and the warm cozy vibe completely rounds out the experience. Super impressed and already planning when to go back!

Can’t recommend Banshee highly enough. Approachable enough to be a neighborhood spot, impressive enough to be a date night destination. Tried about half the menu and everything was delicious; some of the best oysters I’ve ever had, the tarte flambee is perfect, and the beans under the pork are a star turn. Oh, and order the krimpet.

Creative and delicious. I tried two NA drinks, and both of them were good. It is a bit pricey. It has some fine dining twists in it, but they don’t want to be that refined. Unfortunately, the roast chicken is not impressive, which should be the statement dish for every chef.

Creative and delicious taste combinations that are truly remarkable. With small plates you can try everything on the menu! Unique drink offerings that are a visual delight. Try the Crowd Work. Great wine choices too. Try Where's Linus. The Butterscotch Krimpet dessert is a fun surprise. Accessible neighborhood location, beautifully designed dining room and the bar is something you have to see. Fantastic service and experience from beginning to end. A fun new addition to the neighborhood.! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had a lovely experience dining at Banshee on Friday night! Cocktails and food were creative and delicious and the vibes were on point. Every dish we had was well thought out and perfect for sharing around the table. Stand outs for us were the Tokyo carrot, hamachi crudo, the flambé tart, and the chicken (usually never order chicken, but it was phenomenal.) Don’t sleep on the house sourdough either- best bread I’ve had in a minute! Service was top notch. Banshee feels like fun fine dining. Would be a great date night spot. I’ll definitely be returning!

10/10, no notes! I had high expectations for this place going in and the team somehow exceeded them. Great service - table wasn’t fully ready when we showed up for our reservation and they were very helpful/accommodating with where to place us while we waited so we wouldn’t be in the way, and the wait only ended up being 5ish minutes anyway. Each dish was a knockout - standouts being the oysters, winter citruses salad, braised leeks, red kuri rice, chicken, and butterscotch krimpet (ok almost everything we ordered haha). Deliciously briney dirty martini and a great bottle of chenin blanc to pair with the mains, too!!!! Will absolutely be coming back to try the few things we didn’t order ☺️

Great addition to the Grad Hospital dining scene. Braised leeks were heavenly. It was too cold inside though, sitting close to the entrance we were freezing with every door open, had to wear coats inside. Fatal flaw for the ambiance, gotta be fixed with a winter vestibule..
