"Banshee comes from the team behind the beloved (and now shuttered)Bing Bing Dim Sum, but this buzzy Graduate Hospital spot seems undecided on how it wants to stand out. The menu skews European, and when it stays there, it totally works—think a chicories salad with pear and goat cheese, a cracker-thin tart flambée topped with maitakes, and a roast half chicken finished with luscious marcona almond butter. Then come the detours: Kyoto carrots, hamachi crudo, and red kuri rice with koji butter that are solid but unnecessary. Add in cocktails that fall flat, and the whole meal feels disjointed. For now, Banshee is best treated as a stop for a glass of wine, one or two small plates, and the excellent ’80s pop soundtrack. We’ll be back soon to see if it finds its footing." - Alison B. Kessler
