"Look for the red neon nights on the outside of this red-heavy Russian vodka bar. Excellent cocktails are served at tables in the front, while dancing happens in the back."

Bar Lubitsch Review - West Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There are a lot of places to get drunk and meet someone in Weho - and Bar Lubitsch is possibly the drunkest of all of them. Come any weekend night, and there will be a line out the door of twentysomethings looking for someone to go home with. The drinks are strong, the music is always great for dancing - it pretty much just alternates between T-Pain and Beyoncé, which is perfect for the intentions you have tonight. It’s a great formula for when you just want to let loose and act like a 21-year-old again. Or if you actually are a 21-year-old. Either way, be ready to take a shower after you leave - things get sweaty in here." - Brett Keating

Music was good when we visited on a Friday night, earlier on it wasn’t as crowded and the bars weren’t too busy either. My friends had an issue when they were ordering their drinks and they wanted to change their order. They were given a hard time then the manager also confronted them after. I was not present with them at that time but that caused us to leave and I was having a great time dancing but because of that we didn’t feel comfortable staying there. Big shoutout to one of the bartenders that told me get bitters when I wasn’t feeling well.

Google
Extremely rude bartender. Simply asked for a cup of water, something that should be standard at any bar. Was met with an attitude. The bartender snapped, “You guys can’t just come here for water,” which was completely uncalled for. Basic hospitality was nowhere to be found. Definitely not coming back.

Had a great time there. However the bartender girl who worked there on April 23 from 9pm - 12am was incredibly unattentive and absent. We had to flag her down when she was standing right in front of us just to get her attention. She finally paid attention when we asked for the check and gave her a tip to match her service. She then decided to chase us down the street to our uber and demand a larger tip. This unfortunate incident was the most attention she had paid to us the whole night. I found her very distasteful and such a foul representation of the venue. Chasing down patrons demanding a tip was one of the most embarrassing things I have ever seen. I wouldn't want something like that representing my venue if I was the owner of Bar Lubistch. Such an emotionally unstable employee shouldn't be working in front of clients let alone be trusted to handle drinks and money.

I didn't know that this place was notorious for getting your phone stolen. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way and my phone was pick pocketed from my zipped up pocket last night (06/15/25). If you do go here, please be careful and don't leave your phone easily unattended. Outside of this, it's an ok bar, it does get REALLY crowded.

WFNM events on Thursday nights are fantastic; BL is great venue to showcase new and up and coming talent. Bartender up front is speedy and friendly!

Google
This is a small bar, but there is entertainment in the room next door so it all depends on the kinda night you wanna have. Went here for my birthday, emailed in advance to reserve a table in the front room for my friends at no cost! It was such a good decision, gave us a break from the dancing in the back room and a chill place to hang out with a drink and have fun!

Google
Fun, casual bar with great ambience and decor. Highly knowledgeable bartenders who willing assist with navigating the 200 various vodkas! I enjoyed trying out several different types side by side. There actually is a great amount of variety in the different types of vodka. On the weekend The Back Room has a really nice bar as well and dance area that opens at 10 PM. Unfortunately, as of the time of this writing the Ukrainian visas were out of stock.

Google
Great place to go if you want to get your phone stolen. Too bad they haven't done anything about the rampant pickpockets that frequent this bar. It's fun otherwise! Having to buy new phone does raise the cost quite a bit tho...

Yelp
Super cute and lively spot. Centrally located next to everything in Weho. Only thing to note is that the space is smaller so it may get very crowded. Seating is limited but drinks are great.

Yelp
I really like this place, I've been a few times and like the music. However, a group of friends and I just went, we exited because a friend needed some air so we walked around the block to smoke a cig, when we exited the manager asked us what we were doing and I said "getting jackets" to make things simple. On our way back in the manager asked why we didn't have jackets and I laughed it off. He then asked "what were you really doing?" And I joked "what? Taking shots next door?" He immediately kicked our group out and claimed that we were dishonest about getting our jackets and that if we drank outside of their bar they couldn't let us back in. How do you run a business like that?

Alejandro C.

Yelp
Bar manager wouldn't let us return to bar after leaving for a 20 min breather outside.

Yelp
Interesting building and interior, but a bit of the oldness of the interior is evident in the state of the upholstery. The people that work there were all nice. The picture of the people at the comedy show appeared to be in a different room than we were in. As far as the humor of the comedy show, it was lacking. No surprise guests, which wasn't a surprise. One "comic" got on stage, flipped through her notebook, muttering "no, no, uhm no", closed her book and left the room. I don't think that I laughed more than 2x with 5 "comics." A bit disappointing.

Yelp
Fun little dive bar that has a plethora of vodkas! They have a Russian theme throughout the bar. On certain days they have special events like comedy or DJ. The vibes and ambiance are great! I also feel like the manager takes the time to greet you and is super friendly Would definitely come back! It's a good vibe for going out or grabbing drinks with friends

Yelp
* Great Rap/HipHop music selection * Fun crowd fun vibe packed in a smaller space * No Dress Code. Casual. * Well priced beverages. Fair. * Limited Parking

Yelp
My first experience here never ended up happening because the doorman singled me out of my group as soon as we got out of the Uber for throwing away a bottle we were pregaming with. If that's a problem, then idk how they expect to stay in business. Fast forward a few months and I ended up going there with friends this past weekend. I had a decent night but it wasn't until a few days later when my friend told me to check my credit card statements bc he claimed he was overcharged. Upon review, I noticed that I was indeed overcharged as well. The same bartender Emily B went ahead and charged me $16.00 for my $7.00 beer. I definitely made sure to tip her each time I got a drink but there's no way in hell I'm giving over 100% tip for cracking a beer open for me.. If you ever decide to go here, make sure to take cash or be prepared to open a dispute with your credit card company.

Yelp
It offers a one-of-a-kind Russian-themed ambiance that instantly transports you. The live band performance adds to the authenticity, while the diverse drink selection satisfies all tastes.

Yelp
This bar has a fun atmosphere. The front room is bar and socializing and the back room has comedy and then hip hop dancing. The front room is very Russian decorated (or what I would imagine for Russian inspired, I have not been to Russia)...and the back room reminded me of a cozy garage with a bar and a stage. Great Moscow Mules! Friendly staff. Good, clean restroom. Parking lot down the street. Definitely would visit here again!
google avatar

Yelp
An unassuming bar with a back room that doubles as a comedy show stage -- stopped by for a show and really enjoyed the space. They have a fair bit of seating in the back, which does get filled up. They have a large selection of drinks and a friendly bartender, but service was pretty slow on the night I stopped by. The drinks do run a bit expensive IMHO, but the Moscow Mule I got was definitely delish. Overall, would totally come back to check it out -- other reviews mention a dance floor, and I'm intrigued!

Gurki B.

Yelp
Disappointing attitude from the bar staff. Was excited to bring my friend from Texas here to experience & was refused service. Unsure why. We had only had one cocktail prior to coming here. My friend was sleepy from her flight but nothing out of ordinary. Felt a bit discriminatory as others around us were getting served without issue & much sloppier. I won't share my skin tone but it wasn't the bar staff's. My friend and I are both professional women in our 40s with masters degrees. Were treated like drunk college girls. Bizarre. We took our old butts to Harlowe, spent our money there instead and had a great time.

Yelp
Went here for the first time for a comedy show last week. January 12th Place was nice , door man was super nice bartender was cool the room i was in was in back where the comedy show was. Now for the comedy show event. I went for it because I'm in love with Fizza but show was a different story , worst vibe ever it was $20 entry fee for 5 non funny comedians I had to walk out on the main act on the end , that's how bad it was. No energy jetpack comedy.
google avatar

Layla A.

Yelp
Came here for a comedy show, but was really impressed by all the vodka drinks on the menu. I'm not a gin, beer, tequila, or whiskey person in the slightest so I loved all the options. Although I ultimately went for a Moscow mule. Bathroom stalls are weirdly short here! Kind of funny when you're inside. Parking was very easy on a Wednesday night, we were able to park directly outside.

Yelp
I've been here three times and each time this place never disappoints. This place is so lit I have so much fun. The vibes are great and each room plays good ass music so it's never boring!!!

Yelp
Fun vibe on a Friday night to dance, although the crowd this particular day seemed a bit young. Fun, kitschy-soviet themed bar in WeHo. No cover, parking was pretty easy, and the dance floor was bumping, although almost to an uncomfortable shoulder-to-shoulder point. So if you don't like crowds, you might want to avoid this place. Cocktails and drinks are $15 or so each, which I think is pretty standard nowadays. It's a fun place to go for a no-frills WeHo sort of vibe, without the fancy frills of some of the rooftop joints, but fun enough to dance. I'm a fan of this place and would come back for a fun night out.

Yelp
Bar Lubitsch is always my go to when I go out. When you walk in, the bar and seating area has a dark, Soviet themed atmosphere. The back of the restaurant doubles as a dance floor and an event room for comedy shows. The drink menu is extensive, and the premium vodka selection does not disappoint. My favorite drink is the French 75. But I think my favorite part of Bar Lubitsch is the amazing music on weekends (although they can do better than Roxy...) and the friendly service. Even when this place is at peak capacity on Friday night, the bartenders always serve everyone in a timely manner. And the self-service water coolers are clutch. Don't forget to get some drunk pics in the photo booth before you leave!

Yelp
Very eclectic interesting hidden gem of a bar that has great live music with kool artists We went to see Jessica Carter Altman was a great time friendly bartenders good drinks fun place. A different kind of ambiance from a time long j

Yelp
Such a fun ambiance to explore on a night out! Filled with decor from the USSR era, my friends enjoyed the large vodka selection while I sipped on the best espresso martini I've ever had. The bartenders were kind and answered all our questions, conversing easily back and forth with my friend who speaks Russian. The back room featured a space for comedy and dancing, though the music set was a bit all over the place. Nonetheless, Bar Lubitsch is the perfect backdrop for a night out with friends!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
The ambience was cute. We initially got there to dance at 9ish and they told us that they'd have a live band until about 10:30 which is when the dancing would really start. Once it did, the music was pretty good. The crowd wasn't as diverse as I'd imagined it would be.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for a We Found New Music pride event. It's a Russian communist themed bar - Gf and I had espresso martinis and they were creamy goodness
google avatar

Jenna W.

Yelp
Came here for the comedy show on Friday night and loved it! The stage is located in the back of the bar, with a nice intimate setting that fills up fast. They had 8 different comedians perform for about 15 minutes each. It was great! Each comedian had their own style, which kept the night entertaining. They were all great and had me laughing throughout the night. I was even surprised to know one of the comedians from the podcast Lady to Lady! Drinks were cheap and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. Made you feel like you were back in time with it's old Russian bar theme. Definitely come check out the Jetpack comedy show! They perform with different comedians every Friday and it's only $12 when you purchase tickets online.
google avatar

Yelp
So fun! They have over 200 varieties of vodka. They have live music in the back. The bar gets very crowded. Expect shoulder to shoulder and claustrophobia may kick in. Overall I enjoy this place. I have been coming here for years on and off. It's a lot of fun.

Yelp
Love this place. This place has one of the best dance floors in Hollywood. The are two bars in two different rooms. The first room is more chill and a good place to hangout and get a drink with friends. The room in the back is where the party is and where you can get wild on the dance floor. Love the music and the vibe. Always had such a great time at this place.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Decent place and night life! This place has a nice layout with a bar in the front and some dancing and DJing in the back. The drinks are good and typical price. The dancing in the back is okay; in my personal opinion, it's difficult to be able to dance because there's not too much space and there's always people who are trying go somewhere. Overall, had a good time. Definitely not a bad place to head out to for the night.

Eliza W.

Yelp
This is a perfect bar bring your hot date here I was the hot date and can attest the vibes are lovely, lighting lovely, booths comfy, drinks delicious, bouncer and bartender sweeties! love it here

Alena W.

Yelp
My favorite dance bar in all of LA. Cool bouncers, nice variety of vibes you could go for (outside on the front patio, inside the main bar room, in the back dance floor). Does get very crowded on the dance floor but the music is good (not EDM and more r&b, hip-hop, top40) so after a few drinks, you won't notice! Good for date night out, or with friends. Go here!
google avatar

Alexandra F.

Yelp
So fun good music great vibes. I loved the drinks and the back room has a great Dj some nights.
google avatar

Maria V.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in LA. The security guards are very personable and welcoming! Its refreshing to interact with friendly bouncers. Music is hit or miss Ive come at hiphop night my fav and then one where they played weird pop house which was not my favorite. Public parking lot right next door.
google avatar

Marco C.

Yelp
Fun place in the neighborhood. Has a very casual vibe to it. A lot of locals. Get's very busy at some nights.
google avatar

Sona K.

Yelp
I've been here quite a few times and it's always been a great time ! Never had any problems or issues. The drinks are great and so is the atmosphere. I went yesterday and they back dancing part was just wayyyy too overcrowded. I had never experienced it like that. They should figure out a way to either expand the place( not sure how possible that is) or let a certain number of people in there at a time so it's enjoyable( which in turn may make some people unhappy) but there wasn't any room to breathe let alone dance. I was in there for less than 2 minutes and immediately felt like I needed to escape back to the front. They had a DJ in the front too which was nice but something needs to be done about the back area because the music is always great and it's one of my favorite places to go but the space is very limited.
google avatar

Manny G.

Yelp
If you like a true LA crazy experience then come here. It will get beyond crowded. Fun place for sure but expect it to be about as LA as it gets.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Really enjoyed Bar Lubitsch. A classy and trendy dive with dim lighting (I'm a sucker for a dark bar). Interesting decor. Russian-themed with an emphasis on Ernst Lubitsch (the director). While he was born in Germany, I understand he was of Russian descent. Good enough for me. Friendly bartender. They also have shows in the back room.

Audrey C.

Yelp
Bad experience. It was over crowded and the dance area is small. A group of girls were dancing obnoxiously by shoving my group and using the elbows to hit us. We were pushed into the booth; and when we asked them to be careful they became more aggressive, and pushed us and scratched us in the face. We left and managment came out to talk to us. Did not seem like he was trying to be helpful at all or listen to our concerns that the group of girls in there were being aggressive for no reason.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
Awesome bar. I will definitely recommend. The Cold War aesthetic was up my alley. We went on a lark for a comedy showcase they do there on a Wednesday and were super impressed. We will return for sure.

Stephen H.

Yelp
this is one of my favorite bars in LA! it's a fun spot with incredible drinks. the bar tenders and staff alike are very friendly and attentive. some nights they have a DJ and the music is pretty good. Highly recommend for a good night out.

Yelp
Always a fantastic venue to perform in the West Hollywood location! Sound as always was stellar! Awesome room and staff, stop by to see great music ! Thank you again for having me perform!
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
Kind staff, clean place, great drinks. The cocktail menu is all vodka and about $14-16 each, however they have plenty of other liquors and beers. The Mozoltov cocktail (in photo) was very tasty! They had a photo booth and a DJ starting at 10 on the weekends with great dancing music.

Ivan L.

Yelp
It is a 4.5* place but unfortunately it's enough for one person to ruin the vibe. Guy who never identified himself aggressively yelled to move and then said "let's go outside": Only then he said he works there as "manager". other staff were very polite and apologetic. He then continued to follow our party inside and aggressively standing in front of us the whole time. It's sad a nice bar like this employs people with attitude who can ruin the atmosphere.
google avatar

Kenny S.

Yelp
Stumbled on Bar Lubitsch from an invite to see Melat perform (she did a great job btw!). The concert is in a room at the back of the bar. This room is small and has an intimate vibe. If you are coming here for a concert, the seating for that concert was first come, first serve. I would recommend getting a seat about 30 mins before start time. As for the rest of the bar, I like! Bar Lubitsch is a Russian-themed bar tucked away at the end of West Hollywood. I was in the mood for a spicy cocktail that night and "The Flame" was the perfect choice! It is made from "Habanero Infused Svedka Vodka, Cointreau, Lemon, Lime, Ginger and served on the rocks." WARNING: It is spicy so if you can't take spicy, stay away or ask the bartender to make it mild (still a kick!). Dimly lit, but you won't knock yourself over (unless you have one too many). Only thing is I don't think there are any other bars directly next door. But, absolutely worth checking out for drinks or music!
google avatar

Lady Esmeralda Q.

Yelp
Pretty cool bar, Nice little spot. Russian theme all the way, which I found very interesting and fun. When you first walk in, the bar looks like a simple bar where you can order your drinks and stand around and talk. It gets a bit congested moments at a time but then it's empty. I quickly realized people kept going to the back, you pass the restroom and boom it's a full on dance floor. It's nice to have chill side and then the side where you can just party hard and dance the night away. I must say drink are a bit pricey but the ambiance is pretty cool. I cool place to hang out with friends.
google avatar

Derek T.

Yelp
Bar Lubitsch is a chill and fairly low key bar. It certainly isn't very large but it makes up for its small space with great bartenders and drinks. Another nice thing is the fact that the line to get in is practically nonexistent. Usually. At the front is the bar and ample lounge space and the back is a dance floor with a DJ who usually puts out some good music. The drink prices are standard but are slightly cheaper than what you'd pay for in dtla. Vodka is the name of the game here so get a vodka mixed drink of some sort here. When you want to escape the chaos of dtla's bars, Bar Lubitsch is a great place to stop by.

Yelp
Gosh, I love this place. Where are all the hip hop spots in LA? Thank goodness for you, Bar Lub. My friends love coming here on the weekends...there is never a line but it DOES get packed in there. We always end up meeting new, fun people. There's a front bar and a back bar. The front area has a lot of space, and booths if you want to sit. The back area is my JAM. A small but popping dance floor and a bar. The bar usually gets really filled around 11pm-12 am. But we love coming here because so many places in LA have those lines at this time of night, but we never have a problem. The staff is awesome, bartenders are very attentive. Overall a great vibe. If you are driving (hey sober sister!) it's kind of tricky....you can look for meters but it's a rough area with permitted streets. But if you don't mind walking a few blocks, I'm sure you can find something!

Yelp
I discovered Bar Lubitsch through the comedy scene believe it or not. Even though I venture onto Santa Monica Boulevard constantly, I seemed to only get around to it a couple years ago. Bar Lubitsch has a remarkable back room for performing. Most nights, you can do a fun date night and see live music or hilarious comedy. The Russian motif gives the back room a lavish, intimate feel; as if you were drinking martinis in the Kremlin. Yes, I imagine the Kremlin to be lavish. The drinks are fairly expensive, but you pay for the atmosphere and expertise from the bar staff. There are always drink deals too. If you're going out to explore the city, don't be a cheapskate anyway. They are most known for their crafted martinis and special concoctions. They are delicious. On top of that, there is no WiFi so your only distraction is the people and the moment. For me, that is a five-star experience. It is not at all a dive bar and you can even enjoy a rustic, ivy-laden terrace in the front.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Love this bar. The drinks are really great and the vibe in each room is what I live for. I can start off being ratchet in the back. Dancing to a pretty decent DJ set. Then when it gets too crowded I can head to the main bar. Refill my drink and dance a little more. And then I can stumble my way to the smoking patio with a new drink and a tiny cigarette. All the while talking to all kinds of random people. It's great!

Yelp
Came here on Friday night around 10:00 pm place was still pretty empty it began getting packed around 10:45 or so. Please see below for run down: Parking : it's all street parking so good luck. Drinks: Had tequila soda all night and paid around $12 dollars a drink so not too bad. Bartenders were ok and bar was reasonably staffed so we didn't have to wait long for our drinks. Music : Awesome mix of 90's and current hip hop. Crowd was pretty cool as well.

Yelp
Went out to Bar Lubitsch on a Saturday night and was pretty disappointed. There's two main rooms. There is the bar in the front as you first enter. As you continue in, you'll pass the bathrooms and then move into the back room. The back room is supposed to be the dance area. There was a live DJ as well as a second bar. But you wouldn't even be able to tell because the place was packed. Dangerously packed. There were so many people in the back room that it was impossible to move. We were packed in like sardines. What's the point of having a DJ if no one can dance. Honestly, it seemed like a huge safety hazard. Usually bars have a person to monitor how many people enter a room- clearly not the case here. Yikes. We left, which was difficult to do, but we somehow made it out.

Yelp
Great bar with great cocktails. Much more of a laid back vibe, especially for the area it's in, which is a very welcome addition.

Yelp
I usually love this place but last night I had an awful experience with a bouncer. I was minding my business in line and when it came time to give him my ID he loudly said "you know you can smile!" I was appalled. I was taken aback by the comment considering I was nothing but pleasant to him. I smiled in confusion and he said "there you go!!" And laughed at me. I was so embarrassed and furious considering how sexist it is to tell women to smile. I felt insecure by him telling me to do so because it implies my resting face looks miserable. I wish I had said something and told him how rude it is to tell people to smile. It's sexist, demeaning, insulting, and just fucking gross. Fuck that bouncer.

Aiden J.

Yelp
I showed them emails dating a year ago of 2nd vaccine appointments, my EMT state card, and my old paper vaccination card. I was vaccinated 12/24/20, and they still denied me entry. Fuck this place. I'll continue to strongly advocate vaccinations and support my struggling community, at the behest of this shitty establishment.
