The Best Ramen Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"This gem on the Plateau offers delicious ramen — both wet and dry. Try its elegant duck mazeman, decked with poached egg and truffle oil, or one decadently topped with creamy burrata. On the slurpier side of things, there’s a soy broth ramen with barbecued pork shoulder. Otto’s other offerings, including curries and chirashi bowls, are stellar, too." - Valerie Silva

The Best Restaurants in Montreal’s Little Burgundy | Eater Montreal

"From the same family as Bistro Otto on the Plateau, this casual bar and restaurant opened mere weeks before the onset of the pandemic. On the drink side, Bar Otto focuses on natural wines and imported sake, while the dining options are a mouth-watering mix of sashimi, wagyu beef, and ramen and mazemen noodle dishes. Open Wednesday to Sunday; reservations recommended." - Daniel Bromberg

Consistently incredible, and I don’t say that lightly. The quality of the fish is very comparable to what I ate in Japan. The atmosphere is lively but never tooo loud or obnoxious. The staff is amazing. They’re well versed on the menu and offer very great service (rare these days at most restaurants). The Sashimi is a MUST-specifically the chef’s choice selection. They also have Grape Republic by the bottle, which you should absolutely splurge on for a special occasion. I’ve dined here several times and absolutely love it.

We had an amazing time at Bar Otto! We went to celebrate my husband’s 32nd birthday and chose the three-course tasting menu with wine pairing - which was the best decision we could’ve made, since it was our first time at the restaurant. Charlotte and Chloé took great care of us! For dessert, I ordered the yuzu cheesecake, and they even added a candle, which was such a thoughtful touch! We were also treated to a plum liqueur to finish the night. We’ll definitely be going back!

My bf and I visited on Valentine’s Day and really enjoyed the food. We had to return the following week to try the regular menu!! We ordered today’s special menu wagyu, which had an amazing flavour, and the ramen was also excellent! The service was great too.

To be honest I'm very confused... This restaurant has been on my to go list for a while and tonight my husband and I decided to do a spontaneous date night, so we went and ordered the tasting menu. First dish was the scallops with cravier. Was decent but nothing was impressive ( very salty, flavor, texture, taste etc.) then second dish was ... A tomato, so I'm guessing the important part of this dish is the mousse? The tomato doesn't even taste tomato. The flavor was flat, and the tomato slice was too large and thick, hard to bite. The sushi was decent, 5 pieces. Then the last dish was soba noodles stir fried with chili oil and a few slices of cucumber. Again another confusing dish. Eventually we paid $100+tax for the 4 dishes. And had to wrap up the night with 2 hotdogs cause we were starving after the meal. Maybe that's the normal standard with restaurants nowadays? I'm not sure. It felt almost like a scam... It kinda explains why the restaurant is almost empty on a summer Friday night. The environment and service was very nice though. Won't come back. Hope we were just unlucky!

Google
My experience at Bar Otto was fabulous. Incredibly fresh ingredients and the service was phenomenal. I found the price to ratio for the Wagyu and Toro not fabulous compared to say Nozy but overall still incredibly tasty. The soft shell crab Bao and the salmon Oshizushi were clear winners. The duck Mazemen was bland.

I came here with friends with expectations. We had a nice bottle of red wine and shared on some food. The soft shell Bao was awesome!! I’d thought the price was expensive for the little amount of food you get. So price to food portion is off. Overall, good atmosphere to have good conversations with friends.

This was such a lovely spot. We had a good time and our server was nice and welcoming. Our food came out quickly and I enjoyed the ramen, it was a good portion and filled me up quickly. The restaurant vibe is really nice and a chill place to hangout or go for date night.

Yelp
Wow, what a great resto with delicious food! We ordered various cocktail and drinks. The waitee brought free yuzu sake shooters which were very good! We shared the best soft shell crab buns, marinated tuna and endives as appetizers. We then tried their duck breast mazemen and spiky ikura mazemen, super good! We ended with the two desserts: light yuzu cheesecake and chocolate matcha cake, so full but perfect ending!

Yelp
Excellent food. A bit pricey for both the plates and drinks, so you need to be okay with spending a bit here. My date and I split a few dishes, and everything was super tasty. Very nice staff as well.

Yelp
Amazing service, some of the best sushi I have ever had. The environment was really cute. It's a little expensive but 100% worth the cost, will be retuning

Yelp
Quality ingredients and well thought out Japanese dishes helps Bar Otto earn 5 stars from me. My friends and I made reservations a couple of days ahead. When we arrived on a week day the whole place was packed. We ordered the eggplant, octopus salad, zuke maguro, scallop ceviche, beef tartare, uni hotate mazemen, wagyu mazemen and the chirashi. We loved the mazemen and the fresh chirashi. The highlights include the wagyu and the melt in your mouth seafood . The uni with bone marrow with the mazemen added some great textures. The chirashi had some fresh toro with caviar and salmon roe. The rice itself was something else very tasty. Price wise you get what you pay for here. Our bill came out to around $70 including tip which isn't that bad considering all of the food that we got. They feature an extensive sake menu as well. We ordered the Gindara and it was smooth. We saw a 1 L big bottle option as well. I'll definitely be back to try their other menu items and their sushi boat.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this restaurant and it was soooo underwhelming. Uni was not fresh & pungent. Toro nigiri with uni paired a sour sauce and was unpleasant. All the seafood was not fresh, lack of texture and I had better in my home town. I was not impressed with The beef Tartare, it was not fresh and blend, not well seasoned and very bad texture. It was so chunky, nothing to pair with it. Just sooo bad. The Wagyu with bone marrow & the mushroom & Parmesan were amazing. Pls do not order the uni & scallop bone marrow one, it was so underwhelming, we were sharing and we ate the noodle but the uni was so pungent. We did tell the server but she didn't do anything about it. Well save your money somewhere else if you want some good seafood otherwise the Wagyu & bone marrow is a good dish to try.

Yelp
Bar Otto is a Japanese restaurant located in the Little Burgundy neighborhood of Montreal, Quebec. On the menu: * Karaage (Japanese fried chicken, Yuzu mayo) * Zuke Maguro (Marinated bluefin tuna, avocado, cherry tomatoes and endives) * Whelk Ceviche (Mango, cilantro, jalapeno, cucumber, edamame and Yuzu dressing) * Nigiri Box (12 Pcs) The Karaage is perfectly crispy, in its golden, dry batter, and is paired with the flavourful Yuzu mayo dip. The marinated bluefin tuna is extra fresh and is mixed with fresh cherry tomatoes and ripe avocados, sitting atop a bed of crunchy endive leaves. Whelk Ceviche, with its unique texture and an array of fresh veggies, and the refreshing Yuzu dressing, make it for a extra fresh spring salad-like dish. The fish in the Nigiri box set were very fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. Instagram: @bar.ottomtl

Yelp
Pretty disappointed! Heard really good things about this restaurant so was excited to try it out. Started with chicken karage ~ definitely far from the best one I tried. The chicken was under-seasoned and not crispy at all. I don't think the chicken was even dipped in any batter. Soft shell crab bao - ok but not wow. I would have like it to have some pickled vegetables to cut the oilyness of the crab. Octopus carpaccio - decent. Noodles with bone marrow and uni ~ like the texture of the noodles as they were springy. Wished there was more uni on the dish as it was pricey! Would have liked it slightly more seasoned. The best items were the nigiri with wagyu and uni on top. Melted in your mouth but it is $15/piece. Overall I thought it was pricey for the food you get. Will Not go back.

Yelp
Bar Otto is one of the newest restaurant of the Otto family! It all started with Otto yakitori on St-Mathieu, then Otto bistro in Mont-Royal and now finally the best of both worlds in St-Henri. The decor is beautiful, minimalistic and with the perfect touch of upscale look. The greenery of the bar compliments their furniture. The bar gives people a cozy kind of feeling! To start, we ordered the uni sashimi and the sashimi platter. All the sashimis were extremely fresh and well worth the cost. As for tapas, we ordered the eggplant, the karaage and the chicken skins. The eggplant was the perfect salty and spicy marinate. It had these little crunchy pieces which made the perfect pair with the soft texture of the eggplant. The karaage were very big pieces; crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Oh... for the chicken skins.... always amazing!!!!! Lastly the duck confit mazemen... delicious delicious, a must if you come here! You will not be disappointed!!! Extremely tender, tasteful and beautifully presented!!! If you love Otto yakitori and Otto bistro, you will love love love Bar Otto

Yelp
First stop en route arrival in Montreal. Great atmosphere and very exceptional customer service. Served till late hours. Great selections of cocktails. Amazing dishes. One of my favourites were the whelk and scallop, miso black cod and the beef tartare.

Yelp
Pleasant friday night at bar otto. Cocktails were stiff, service courteous and quick. We went for a couple of entrées like Karage and two ramens that turned out to be pretty good. Beer and wine was decently priced too. Would recommend. Good vibes, not as raucous as an izakaya.

Yelp
Decent food but pricey. We shared the eggplant, spicy ikura mazemen, the croquette, the sashimi platter and some skewers. They were all pretty good and the presentation was nice. My personal faves are the chicken skin skewers and the croquettes. The menu consists of tapas so the portions aren't big as they're meant to be shared. Our final amount was around 45-52$ after tax per person depending on the drink we got. It is definitely pricey considering that we weren't full. As for the service, the food came pretty quickly and the staff were nice and friendly. The inside doesn't feel like a japanese restaurant at all. I would probably come back to try some of their other stuff but I will definitely try to order something more filling to avoid being hungry. Make sure you reserve before coming if it's on a weekend!

Yelp
So happy to see restaurants like this one open in South-west. Good wine list, nice cocktails, plates to share, what's not to like? We highly recommend sharing plates so we get to taste it all. Sashimis we're fresh, I just hope they were served earlier during the meal. Skewers should not be skipped. Tasty and traditional. Fried chicken kaarage was tasty, we added truffle mayo on the side. Smoked trout croquettes is a great fusion dish. Pork bun and ursin ramen with bone marrow was a hit. Overall our favourite dish, believe it or not, was the brussel sprouts. Perfectly cripsy, sweet and sour, topped with almonds.
