I loved the atmosphere first of all: simple, like kitchen containers, jars, plates whatever is randomly on the shelves. It just gives you the true nature of serving food. The guys would cook, go wash/polish the plates, dry their hands, and run to you to serve. Most restaurants would just show you the polished side of the place. They show you all of it. There is nothing to hide in the back. Food is there, drink is there. Transparent, simple, and real hospitality.
They would tell you what to order, how much to order; not necessarily to upsell, but most probably because they know through experience what is just enough. That way it’s easy on the kitchen: one order, that’s that.
The food was excellent, with nice little touches in every dish that give different flavors and textures. A well-chosen, well-curated wine list. (They only have wine, I think, which adds to the simplicity.)
In days where we have endless options and are losing our sanity to the abundance paradox, I think this kind of place is needed more.
Thanks.
