Creative cocktails, 70s vibes, and a disco ball bathroom
"Move over teeny martini’s—there’s a new undersized cocktail in town. At Bar Snack, a relaxed cocktail bar in the East Village, you can enjoy a seasonal snaquiri (or a full-sized daiquiri), which is currently a refreshing spiced clementine concoction. The cocktails are well-mixed and cap out at $18, there’s a glossy little bar with high-backed stools, the soundtrack is permanently stuck on ’70s radio, and this spot is open all week. We’re guessing it might get crowded on weekends, so come by after work sometime, and grab an $11 hot dog loaded with pickles and caramelized onions while you’re at it." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, andrew ryce
"Helmed by Iain Townsend Griffiths and Oliver Cleary (owner of Brooklyn’s Minnows Bar), Bar Snack is serving up elevated takes on classic drinks. With “snack” in the name, expect a beverage program with food-inspired drinks. The dirty martini is seasoned with roasted chicken; the Negroni is modeled after a salad, flavored with nectarine and basil; and the Old Fashioned meets Ben and Jerry’s ice cream classic “Phish Food” with marshmallow fluff syrup. The funky and dimly lit wood-paneled space is completed with a fully disco ball-tiled bathroom. It’s an unpretentious spot to bring a group of friends." - Emma Orlow

"Everyone’s having a good time at Bar Snack. Maybe it’s the Twisted Tea coolers, or the snack-sized daiquiris, or the overall yacht rock vibe. Whatever the case, the mood is prime here—not quiet, but not so loud that you can’t hear what your friends or date have to say." - bryan kim, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
"When the weather’s warm, Bar Snack opens up their big French doors and puts a bunch of tables outside for people looking to sip snaq-daquiris. We are those people. The cocktails aren’t too expensive, and yacht rock soundtrack speaks for itself." - neha talreja, bryan kim, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman
"Consulting chef Russell Ashton’s whimsical menu includes a standout Toastie & Cup-O-Soup ($11): grilled cheddar-and-muenster on Pullman bread served with super-creamy tomato soup presented in a classic New York coffee cup that reads "We are happy to serve you," trading on childhood nostalgia. A close second is spicy peanut butter noodles ($12) topped with chile crisp and scallions." - Robert Simonson
