"This loosely Alice in Wonderland-inspired cocktail bar is hidden remarkably well inside Olly Olly Market in Chelsea. (Look for an unmarked door with a keypad lock, then scan around that keypad lock for the code to open it—or else give up, as we did, and ask a food hall employee for help.) The cocktails are expensive, at around $25 each, but they're also totally delightful. Each one comes with a surprise snack, like the fish-shaped lime and toasted coconut gummies that accompany a white negroni served under a cloud of coconut foam. Take a date here and you won't run out of things to talk about." - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, sonal shah, neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick

"We hate to spoil all the surprises that make this loosely Alice in Wonderland-inspired cocktail bar in Chelsea worth visiting, but we want very much to convince you to go. The bar from the Ddobar and Joomak Banjum (RIP) team is hidden remarkably well inside Olly Olly Market. Look for an unmarked door with a keypad lock, then scan around that keypad lock for the code to open it. If you’re having trouble, you can always ask a food hall employee for help, as we have. Cocktails are expensive, at around $25 each, but they're also totally delightful—and each one comes paired with a little something to snack on. Order the Pearl Diver, a salty white negroni under a cloud of coconut foam, served with fish-shaped lime and toasted coconut gummies. We also like the Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters, a crisp strawberry-rhubarb-oolong milk punch in a teacup, which comes with a brown-butter financier flower. Take a date here and you’ll have plenty to talk about, possibly regarding the gold rabbit head mounted on the wall, watching you through his monocle. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick" - Molly Fitzpatrick

"There’s an Alice In Wonderland theme going on at this cocktail bar in Chelsea, from the folks behind Ddobar and now-closed Joomak Banjum. Beyond the psychedelic tiling, their website invites “curious travelers” to “tumble down the rabbit hole.” We assume that’s the rabbit hole of one too many craft cocktails." - will hartman

🥒🌱 jasmine cucumber mocktail- really good and refreshing 🍹 strange nature- tasted refreshing and couldn’t really taste the tea. Came with a chocolate chip biscotti and olives and it was really good! 🍿aww shucks- I was really excited to try aww shucks… it was cool but I didn’t think the corn foam went well with the sparkling drink. The foam and drink separately are good but together I just didn’t like it but I do think many others enjoy that drink. The caramel popcorn it came with was good 🥕🫚 white rabbit mocktail- it was so refreshing and tasty! The color was also so pretty ❔ who are you?- earthy and loves the smoked macadamia on top 🍓🫖 Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters- omg this drink was sooooo good! Could barely taste the alcohol and the treat it came with was also really unique and good - They also gave us a chocolate chip cookie cus we came back to the bar after dinner😍 I think the drinks at bar whismy wasn’t as good but it was strong so it was nice lol. The service was good. I think the only drink worth trying from the ones we tried was the Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters. The drinks do have a lot of artistry (details with cups, little snacks, the shape of the ice,…) but the flavor profiles weren’t obvious for me and it wasn’t something my sisters and I enjoyed as much except for the Mona Lisa. My sister was saying it would be nice for them to also have some more dessert drinks cus after the meal at ddobar they let guests know about the speakeasy bar. I think selling little snacks would help too for those that would just go to the bar… and honestly the snacks that came with the drinks were so good and innovative. I liked it better than some of the drinks, which is why it seems very thought out.

It’s hard to find whimsy when coming in from a food hall, but this Alice in Wonderland speakeasy manages to pull it off. (Maybe could make the entrance code a bit more obvious to the uninformed patron). Regardless the real win here is the exceptional cocktails. Dana works wonders creating flavorful drinks with multiple layers of depth, topped off with accompanying side bites akin to a garnish. While so many bars in nyc right now are striving for speakeasy supremacy, this adorable spot hidden in Olly Olly Market takes home grand prize.

I had a disappointing experience at this bar. Despite the place being almost empty, the bartender did not approach us to take our order. Assuming it was a self-service setup, I went up to the bar to order drinks. To my surprise, customers who arrived after us not only had their orders taken and were even served before us. We tried to give the bartender the benefit of the doubt, but when another table arrived, the bartender went to them promptly to explain the drink menu and take their order directly. This inconsistent service was frustrating. The head chef from the restaurant associated with the bar happened to be there and was professional—he kindly checked if we wanted more drinks. However, by then, we were ready to leave and simply requested the check. The drinks themselves were just okay and overpriced for what they were. Overall, I cannot recommend this bar based on this experience. Observation: Based on the other reviews the drinks were supposed to come with snacks? We never got any.

Great atmosphere and very inventive cocktails, we have 4 drinks. Still need to work out some kinks, that’s why it’s 4/5, great potential and a nice hidden gem!
