"How to up the chances of securing a table on Valentine’s Day? Pick a restaurant with lots of tables. Barboun, Shoreditch’s good-looking new Eastern Mediterranean grill restaurant, fits the bill: the dining room is expansive but doesn’t feel cavernous. Almost everything here is made for sharing — think blackened aubergine with pita for dredging, sour-cherry-stuffed dolma with garlic yoghurt, and smoked eel on split peas." - Emma Hughes

The very friendly and attentive staff were on hand as soon as we arrived, especially on a quiet Sunday morning in the City of London. My Turkish coffee was a highlight, well brewed and packed a puch (much needed after a boozy night before 🙊🙈😆). My egg florentine was cooked to perfection and it was ready in no time at all. And the menu prices were reasonable. The whole atmosphere was upmarket yet relaxed and warm. Definitely will visit again.

We came as a large group. Firstly I have to say aesthetically the seating area is such a lovely place to be in and sit down. It's a nice experience to dine with the surroundings so that was a big plus. We emailed our mains in advance to make sure the choice of mains is served without any hiccups which was a nice touch. We ordered a spread of starters. Through out the evening everything just felt over salted unfortunately. The crab was a weird one but yes it's served so you can eat as seen. Throughout the evening everything felt dysfunctional with service, we then had such a long wait time between starters and mains. It felt understaffed and everyone rushing around which was unfortunate. The staff were nice but the order placement felt distorted with staff members serving some of us rather than all of us as a group. Once main arrived where I personally ordered the sirloin medium rare, the portion itself came cold. I wasn't looking to complain as it took so long to come that we just wanted to dig in. There was too much fat on one slice for me but the sirloin itself was not half bad. It didn't wow me but it was sufficient to please my appetite. Going around my family members would not recommend the chicken, it seemed dry so if you do go for chicken you may look for a different option. Once again the staggered service caused an issue, without clearing the table of mains and not waiting for some to come back from a toilet break, waiters rushed out a birthday suprise which caught us off guard. Usually you want to make it feel like a special moment but it was a huge disappointment and upset those that wanted to celebrate the moment. Desserts finally and thankfully the meal ended with a nice end. Everything was delicious from here and I thoroughly enjoy the end to the meal especially the sponge cake. Overall I do think the place is worth a go but I feel like the shortfalls that occurred wouldn't create a repeat trip here for me.

One of my favourite restaurants in London! I’ve been here a couple of times for dinner and once for brunch. The food never disappoints and is always packed with flavour! The staff are very helpful, friendly and always have great suggestions. The bar doesn’t have a cocktail menu but they’re able to make all the standard ones and the wine list is pretty good too. The food is really well priced and good portion sizes. We had 3 small and 1 big (main) plate to share between 2 people and it was the perfect amount. I’m unable to choose a favourite dish because everything was amazing so I would definitely recommend ordering a couple of things!

Visited a couple of weeks ago for dinner and was an amazing experience overall. Great food (1st photo is baklava- definitely give it a try), beautiful interior design, and best of all, the serving staff were amazing! We weren’t familiar with this particular cuisine, and Antonio walked us through every menu & gave us recommendations, which we absolutely loved. We ended up ordering an additional plate & didn’t love it because of the fishy taste- Antonio offered us turkish tea on the house. He was really helpful and nice - definitely going to revisit for both the food and the serving staff☺️ +) went for brunch as well - 2nd 3rd and 4th photos! Food was great & staff were very nice

Decor and ambiance is great here, the service was fast and the waitress was very polite and ready to answer any questions. The barboun dish was nice though I didn't like the preserved lemon with it as I found it overpowering, the salmon starter was pleasant though very sweet for me. The kofte main was nice and I liked the touch of the pickled onions. I loved the fact that there was halal options on the menu which made picking dishes much more of a breeze.

A really stylish space with a spacious modern interior. I went for brunch and there were plenty of seats with good social distancing observed. The food was excellent - my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were the perfect size - enough to leave me satisfied but not overly full. The bread it was served with was fabulous - crunchy, chewy and slightly sweet at the same time. The prices were lower than I would have expected for the overall experience. The only downside is that there is no outdoor area which would have been a nice option to have on the occasional sunny days in London.

Decor, service, and food was on point. Went for dinner with my partner and was really surprised at how quiet it was for a Saturday evening, but if that is what you’re after then you’ve got it all and more at Barboun. It kinda felt like a best kept secret. The portions were surprisingly generous and you could happily go for an easy two course. Only thing I would say is the music is a bit generic, a nicely curated playlist would really boost the atmosphere! But we did appreciate how it was more an ambient element which makes it a perfect place for an intimate dinner, or a chill one with some friends. Will be back for brunch and the spicy margarita - easily the best margarita ive ever had

The food was delicious. Special mention for the balance of the spices and the sauces. The service was great. Our drinks took really long to come. In fact we had to cancel the order as we already finished our food. No gluten free desert in the menu :(
