I was very happy to visit for the first time yesterday. I didnt try any of the food here, so I have not rated it. I did see some burgers roll past that looked pretty good though... The music was a perfect mix of rock, metal and alternative. The bar is a large space and the sound system has that club feel. I was then very happy the games I played volumes were clearly loud enough to enjoy whilst still enjoying the music. I visited early in the afternoon so it was still relatively quiet, but all the patrons there were having a good time. Some enjoying a beer, some playing with their partners or group of friends. The bar stays open until 2am most nights and 4am on Friday and Saturday. Black Knight 2000 jammed the first time I tried it. I mentioned it to a nearby manager later. He immediately repaired the machine and returned my tokens to then enjoy the game a good few times after. I also saw Pulp Fiction have a playfield clean during my visit. Playing that machine was the highlight of my visit. I highly recommend Barcade, especially for pinball nuts like myself! I'll be going back later and this time enjoy a few beers with my games.

This bar was mentioned in our guide book as a place to visit and as a happy coincidence it was next to the second hotel we stayed in on our NYC trip. The bar is full of retro games machines. You play with tokens which you can get from a machine for cash (ATM on site). Huge range of craft beers and ciders from the east coast. The barman was friendly, made jokes about my being British and explaining the lagers first, and knew his beers. There was a great range of sour beers, IPAs Pilsners and ciders. There’s a good buzz about the place even though it wasn’t busy when visited (Monday afternoon!). We didn’t eat but the food looked good. Worth a visit for something a little different. Definitely if you like arcade games and pinball. Was a great recommendation.

We had a outstanding time here, chatting with the bartenders and trying different types of beers good times. After having a few beers we went to play arcades mostly the driving games hahaha so much fun. Definitely recommended a visit if you never experienced it before!!

Super cool bar with pinball machines & arcade games. Large selection of beers & cocktails, and we enjoyed our burgers. Bathrooms could do with painting but maybe the graffiti is part of the appeal idk.

Amazing place! Arcade in good conditions and all originals! Maybe not so many flippers here but very cool atmosphere!

UPDATE: 4/2025 - had another work event here (thanks for always accomodating us!) and the beer list is STILL stellar for true beer lovers/enthusiasts. 👍💯👍I will always stop in when I'm in the neighborhood just to see what's on tap. CHEERS! 🍻 2023 - Fun place, but it's the pretty damn spectacular beer selection - WOW! Didn't expect that. Good rock/alternative music too. Went for a work team outing. Plenty of fun games, retro and new, a few pinball machines, and a 4 player Pac-Man game. Great for team bonding, you can get packages that incl. food, drinks, and game tokens. The food was fine, the beer selection STELLAR. Looking forward to coming back!

Google
The Barcade in Chelsea has always been my favorite location of theirs, because the size of the joint and game selection is excellent. The Discs of Tron cabinet alone keeps me coming back year after year, and then of course there’s Joust! I also can’t think of many bars or restaurants where the food and snacks started out good and kept getting better, but the Chelsea Barcade has done it. My wife and I recently stopped in and had the ‘Bama Chicken Sandwich and the Jersey Burger, and both were delicious! The accompanying fries also came out super hot, crispy, and in large portions. Avery, the bartender, was so friendly and made an excellent drink recommendation that my wife appreciated. Can’t wait to come by again soon! P.S. - Can you please bring back Golden Axe???

Prefer this location over downtown. Bigger, more open space, and better-maintained in my opinion. We went earlier in the day shortly after they opened, so everything was very clean and in order (including the bathroom). Most arcades token operated...taking 1-2 tokens for most games. Tokens can be purchased from machines throughout the space at 0.25 cents each.. (4/$1, 20/$5...). Service both at the bar and at the arcade area were great. Nice to see staff testing out the machines throughout the space. All machines we tried were working as expected. Beer prices were fair (for NYC) at about $8. Pints for the more common weaker stuff (under 6% or so) and 10oz. pours for the stronger stuff. Very easy to get to in the midtown area...lots of major stations and transportation hubs closeby. Given the average prices for beer and food, you'd definitely want to go there for the games...think of it is an arcade that serves beer and food...not a bar/restaurant with an arcade.

Yelp
Came here many times before in the past. Probably one of the few bars in the area that's a good spot for young people. The arcade machines here are hit and miss. Some great classics mixed in with a lot duds. If you came here to just play games you'll probably get bored after a short while. As I said, there's a lot of duds. The space here is very big which is good because it can get crowded here. The vibe is here decent. Good place to get some drinks and chill. My biggest knock against this spot is lack of TVs. Came here for NYE hoping that this would be a good spot to go. Younger crowd and fun arcade games. Unfortunately it didn't scratch that NYE itch. The crowd were the ones who initiated the countdown. There was no fanfare or music to celebrate the New Year. Again, no TVs either. I wish we had gone to another spot instead. I'd come here on an uneventful day. I order their Jersey Onion Smash Burger. It was a double cheeseburger, with onions, thin pickles, and a pork roll. It came with a free upgrade of tator tots since they were out of fries. The tots came out as good as you'd hope they would. Regular tots cooked to perfection. The burger was big and didn't feel like a smash burger at all, which is a good thing. The cheese was well melted and barely hanging on to the side. The pork rolls were a nice touch but didn't add much to it, I still enjoyed them though. It all came out to $18.50. Not expensive at all, at least compared to other burger spots in the area. I'd come back here again for more food. The burger was good and left me feeling full. It wasn't very greasy and the bun was soft. It was my last meal of 2024 and I'm happy with that.

Yelp
Barcade in Chelsea is an excellent spot for a fun night out, whether you're on a date or looking to meet new people. One of its unique charms is how easily you can strike up a connection--just start playing a video game with someone, and you're set. I visited Barcade on Thursday, November 21, during an event hosted by the BLK dating app. The night featured catered American staples like fish tacos, burger sliders, nachos, tater tots, and all the classic condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo). The food was enjoyable, though it did have a slightly oily aftertaste. Despite that, everything was well-prepared and perfect for the casual, fun vibe of the venue. The drinks were another highlight. I tried a few, including their "Left Hand" beer (a Guinness-like brew), a classic rum and Coke, and a sunrise-inspired cocktail. While the sunrise wasn't to my taste, the Left Hand and rum and Coke were solid choices. But let's talk about the real star of Barcade--the games. Their collection features classics from Nintendo, Sega, and Midway, alongside iconic titles like Mario, Ninja Turtles, Contra, and even some thrilling shooting games like Ghost Town. The machines are well-maintained, and the variety ensures there's something for everyone. Whether you're into co-op or solo play, the arcade experience won't disappoint. That said, the space does get crowded. With about 30 people at the BLK event, the venue felt tight. If Barcade gets more popular, navigating the arcade machines could become a challenge, especially with bags or larger accessories. My advice: travel light. The layout doesn't allow for much sitting, so be prepared to stand or lean against a barstool. I also recommend respecting the arcade machines by not placing food on them, though sometimes you might need to improvise. For larger people, like myself, certain games like the Daytona racing machines may feel a bit cramped. Adjustable seating wasn't an option, but it didn't detract much from the overall experience. One pleasant surprise was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Despite their intentionally grungy, graffiti-covered aesthetic, they were spotless and hygienic, even with a busy crowd. As for the cost, my event was covered, but I estimate that for food, drinks, and games, you'd spend between $60 and $80. For the quality of the experience, that feels totally worth it. The best hours to visit are from 7 PM to 10 PM, as the energy starts winding down after that. Overall, Barcade Chelsea is a fantastic spot for a night of nostalgia, fun, and meeting new people. Whether you're in the area for work or just looking for a new regular hangout, this arcade bar won't disappoint. I can definitely see myself returning regularly!

Yelp
The vibe and beer selection at Barcade? On point. But the black bean burger? Nah, that missed the mark--dry and flavorless, like it didn't even try. I don't eat meat, I can say for anything else. I'm just here to rate the food, and while I'll be back for the drinks and the games, that burger won't be making a comeback on my plate. Live, love and laugh - Sha

Yelp
Such a nostalgic spot for gen-xers and millennials. If you're looking for a little childhood fun with adult drinks. Barcade can't miss! The bar keep is top notch! Great service!

Yelp
Entertaining spot in Flatiron. The crowd is a bit older and does get a little busy at night. But you're never waiting that long for a game. You do need to grab coins from a till to play the games. The games are older, like retro, with a lot of classics like pac man and donkey Kong. Wide variety of beer and some cocktails. Decently priced, under $10 for most if not all of the beers. Security does a bag check at the door, but there is a table to leave outside drinks.

Yelp
The Margheritas here are so amazing, I ordered two. I didn't taste the alcohol in them at all. I also liked the other cocktail I ordered -- the Wrong Way. It didn't have a strong alcohol taste either. I tried a few foods here because I was here for an event: chicken tenders, buffalo wings, fried cauliflower (and I'm typically not a cauliflower fan), and I think a pulled pork slider. All the food was great. I had to keep going back for more chicken tenders -- I probably ate four. For a Thursday night, it was pretty packed and busy, but there were still plenty of games open. It wasn't that rowdy, and the vibes were perfect for a bar arcade.

Yelp
This is a great place to meet up with friends. They have a wide variety of games and a good selection of beers.

Yelp
Went here on a weekday early-afternoon. They open at 2pm but I was there early. The doors were open but when I went in was told they were not open and to come back. I understand if the bar itself was not available yet but it would have been nice to at least let us play the games while we waited. Nonetheless, I had to go to another place first while waiting. They check 100% IDs with a device when you go in. Pretty big selection of draft beer and decent cocktail list. The bartender was super cool, knowledgeable about drinks. The games are paid for by tokens. They have token machines in the corner which costs .25 cents for one token (not bad!). They have nice selection of retro games to choose from. Some of the games ate a few tokens before working, but it is to be expected on those games. They have little tables near all the games so you can place your drinks down right next to you while playing which is great. Not the most incredible bar in the planet, but definitely a fun way to kill some time and have fun transporting back to older times. You also have to remember it is more of an arcade that serves drinks rather than a bar that has games. Not a place to spend your whole night, but place to spend a little time and have fun time in process. Will definitely give it another try in near future.

Yelp
AMAZING GAMES! One rude bartender (maybe owner? He's been here for a while). This bartender used to give me shit for ordering hard seltzer in cans. Not in a playful way, but in a "shame on you, get outta here" way. Last time I visited I noticed they have Truly on tap! Thankfully he didn't give me a hard time but filled my glass with ice without asking. Next few rounds I got another bartender who graciously let me order it without ice. Then I end up getting the dude again and he gave me my Truly in a whiskey glass (short tumbler) saying "you got some free Truly if you've been getting it in a pint without ice". Mind you, Truly here is $9 which is NOT cheap! Wish they could be less uptight or cheap with their Truly policy (or at least be consistent or not shame the customers) because this place is otherwise the best Barcade in NYC in terms of games.

Yelp
Awesome! A classic arcade in a bar (21 and over only, unfortunately for the young ones). They had a bunch of games I used to play in the 80's. Like old times I dominated Galaga! I did not try the food, but the beer was fine. Loved the games at a great price, either 25 or 50 cents per game. Great deal. They have a machine to buy tokens. .

Yelp
This place was interesting but not the best bar nor best arcade we've been to We came on Saturday night and it was crazy crowded which it's not very big so kinda hard to move around and every game worth playing had a wait. Games range from $.25-.75 each person as far as I saw I got the sunshine superman mocktail which was $10 and insanely sweet. It was ok. They had one other mocktail choice and juice/soda They have a ton of beers though to pick from around $8/each for a pint They've got a bunch of retro games in some sort of working order. Some games were broken which was a bummer so we lost a dollar or two on those but most of the games worked. Wished there was more space between the aisles as it was rough to move around people They do a security check on entry and don't allow any outside food/drinks so they make you leave it all up front. There not many tables or space by the games to put the food/drinks you order inside either so you'll spend most of your time shuffling your drink around while you play unless you get the little table space by each game. The bathrooms were ok, not very clean but good for a late night bar Overall, it could be better but worth checking out if you're out late

Yelp
Was at barcade around midnight on a Friday night and the place wasn't packed but it's a very nice and cozy relaxed bar. There's a decent amount of arcade games, some that I've seen and some that I've never seen before which was pretty cool. They had a good selection of drinks , got a taste of the mead they had and a drink of an apple cider drink they had. Prices were good and very nice service. The part that brings the review down for me personally was the selection of games they had. I know most arcade games are 1-2 players but this location only had about 3 games that were 3 players or more. Just makes it a bit hard for people in larger groups to sort of play together. But they had a bit of everything in terms of games. $1 get you 4 tokens and most games were 2 tokens each.

Yelp
Had a great time, definitely will come back. Chill atmosphere for the most part, with a nice selection of games. Bartender improvised a great mocktail for us off the top of his head, one of the best we've ever had, and for a very reasonable price. My only complaint is that about an HOUR before they close, employees start coming up to you and saying 'just wanted to let you know, we're closing in 15 minutes', just standing real close to you and hovering even after you respond, intentionally distracting you from whatever game you're playing, which wastes your token. This happened three different times in the span of no time at all, so that was at least 6 tokens down the drain. I can understand staff wanting to do the thing of performing closing duties well before it's closing time so that they can get out of there as fast as possible, but come on.

Yelp
This was my first time at an arcade bar and I had a lot of fun! I came here for a work outing and wasn't sure what to expect but there were a lot of retro games and delicious food. It's a great place for a casual outing but it gets crowded quite quickly after 4pm. I am not well versed in arcade games but many of my coworkers are and they were pretty happy with the options here. We spent around 2-3 hours in here and they had a lot of fun trying a variety of games. It definitely seems like a solid place to grab a drink and play a game either alone or with others!

Yelp
I came here for like 30 minutes to grab a beer and catch up with an old friend and unfortunately didn't get to play any of the arcade games, but the bartender was notably welcoming. IPA was cold and refreshing. My friend had a ton of food available for their corporate event, so I would be curious about doing future date night here. Overall vibes were fun and cheery!

Yelp
After hearing about Barcade and with the means to check it out, Barcade spontaneously came into our itinerary one day. The place was packed on a weekend night. You buy tokens by a machine, and each game costs about 2 tokens per person, with some games being multiplayer. There's also a couple table seating by the windows. I didn't feel the energy at first, but after playing 4 Player Pacman, the thrill of using up the tokens got to me! I didn't get to look closely at all the games offered, but there looked to be a decent range of shooting, fighting, tapping, and driving games. I wish there was a bit more structure like sign up lists for each arcade just for fairness sake and getting to explore other games, but I guess that defeats the tradition and fun of crowding around a game. Some of the games were busted though, with controls that don't work. I can see this as a fun date night idea. Give Barcade a shot if you're looking for a relieving nostalgic way to pass time!

Lee R.

Yelp
Great draft selection, knowledgable and helpful bartenders, and a nice selection of vintage games! Gives a nice dive bar atmosphere with the low lighting and decor, but it's actually clean and doesn't smell like shame and bad choices. Definitely planning on returning.

Yelp
If you've ever been to one of the many Barcade locations in Philadelphia or NYC you know what to expect from them. They offer a nice little bar area with interesting food and mixed drinks along with a variety of great classic arcade games such as Street Fighter Alpha 2, Prop Cycle, Crazy Taxi, Star Wars Arcade, X-Men, The Simpsons, and other classics like Marvel vs. Capcom. The prices are fair for a big city like New York City or Philadelphia and there is security at all times in case somebody gets gully. I only wish that they stayed open beyond 2:00 AM. NYC is supposed to be the city that doesn't sleep!
google avatar

Albert K.

Yelp
- love the arcade games here - for multiplayer, you have TMNT, XMen, Basketball, car racing, and pacman - arcade games are reasonably priced $0.50 each; pinball games are more $0.75 - drinks are a bit steeper here ($9 beers), but happy hour before 6pm knocks a dollar off Only miss is that on certain days, most of the tables get booked by corporate events, so you very likely will not have a spot to sit down. The bar area has some stools, but it gets very crowded. Excellent venue overall for corporate events and coming off-peak, but the crowds get rough.

Yelp
I and a group of friends came here after bowling, to play some arcade games and get some drinks. I'd been here once in the past and had a great time. Drinks, snacks, and nostalgic arcade games? What's not to love? However, on this particular day, a couple of friends decided to wear "ugly Christmas sweaters" as they were headed to a party afterwards. Unfortunately, we came on a day that Santacon was happening, and a staff member doubled down and told our friends that they couldn't wear their ugly Christmas sweaters and made them take it off. They kindly obliged. When they were ready to leave, they put them back on, but were told they had to leave the premises immediately. Mind you, this rule was enforced by one bartender AFTER drinks and tokens were purchased. The only place this rule was posted was Instagram (which we discovered after the fact), not physically posted anywhere in the bar and not enforced by a bouncer. To really make matters worse, a bartender walked past me at least three times, and a kind individual next to me had to get their attention so I could talk to them. This experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and I probably won't be frequenting this establishment again in the near future.
google avatar

Donna O.

Yelp
My friend and I were staying next door at the Hyatt and passed this place coming in. I looked them up and the menu looked interesting so we walked over. The bouncer asked for ID and covid vaccination card so I pulled out my phoneto get the vaccination. Before I could even show him my vaccination card he interpreted to say "only physical ID" like... Duh? I'm trying to give you all that you asked for which you would know if you were patient and or would bother to look Bothering to look seems to be an issue though since the bartender didn't look at us or the girl in front of us for about five minutes. He passed us multiple times, just refused to look up, didn't make any eye contact with anyone that I could see, and so we gave up and got hotel restaurant food. Very disappointing The game selection was more geared towards pop culture movie references than arcade games. Good and bad depending on perspective

Yelp
Came here for a good time after dinner to play some games with some friends. The drinks are pretty standard, but here's what games to play with a group: There are a few coin token machines that take cash and convert it to coins. I think for a little over an hour of playing which should be enough you can put in 10 dollars for a group of 3-4 and refill as needed. 4 PLAYER PACMAN play as diff colored pacmen and try to eat each other while avoiding the ghosts! See how many times you can eat other people to win the crown! The map gets bigger each time.' JAPANESE GAME - idk the name of this game but it's right in the center of the bar and is 3 player and you essentially do different minigames working as a team trying to get to the top it's hilarious, extra and so fun. Really had a blast. They have classics like tetris, galaga, qbert, pinball machines and some others you may not have heard of. Great mix of different games and I've gone twice now, can see myself coming back to this place. TIP: You can barhop after and go to a speakeasy (Patent Pending perhaps?) and you're near ktown so you can have korean bbq before or after as well.

Yelp
Group's evening darkened by a female server with fucsia hair (henceforth: Fucsia Server), jean shorts, black leather belt w/ studs who was repeatedly a real downer. This is described in chronological order, but if TL:DR, skip ahead to item #3. A couple of weeks ago I was with a party of 16 at Barcade in Chelsea, one of which was celebrating a birthday. I brought mini-cupcakes. Noticing they had a desert (brownies) on the menu I thought it would be the right thing to request permission to share our outside "food" on the premises. Fucsia Server said no & tried to convince me to buy a few $9 brownies instead. 1) Not allowing outside food as policy is fine, & although disappointed, I was OK with it & informed the group. If I was managing the venue I would empower my employees to not enforce this rule at all times (i.e. on a slow Tuesday night) b/c in situations like this doing so might cause a large group to leave the venue rather than stay longer & spend more money. In this situation allowing 5 minutes of celebration including 2-bite cupcakes from outside would have been a sound business decision. The group decided that when celebration time came we'd move on to another bar for our post-gaming shots & beers & hang & to sing happy birthday & have mini cupcakes. Not a big deal. 2) One member of our party of 16 walked up to the bar & asked Fucsia Server for water. She looked him in the face & walked away. Another bartender brought him water. * 3) At one point 4 of us had just finished playing a game of Dialed In pinball. There was a credit remaining on the machine. Several of us were at a tall table within 3 feet of the game. Fucsia Server was bussing, carrying several pint glasses in one hand as she walked passed Dialed In. She stopped, with her free hand pressed the start button, then plunged ball one, poisoning the credit. The lost 75¢ is no big deal, the malice is. If her thinking was "the bar will make another 75¢ if I burn this credit that clearly belongs to this large group which has been pumping tokens into these machines for the past 3 hours," I'd say that 75¢ earned is outweighed by her totally unnecessary & very negative act. Definitely not a good business decision. * After that particular behavior one member of our party suggested we should just have the cupcakes inside the venue anyway as we'd hoped/planned. I didn't like the idea of asking mom after dad said no, but another member of the party asked a second member of the staff about having the cupcakes & the answer was an immediate, "yeah, go ahead," so we did. As we celebrated our friend's birthday Fucsia Server came over to give us a hard time about it. I mildly told her that one of her coworkers had said it was OK, she stormed off & we didn't see her again. We didn't stay much longer, instead almost the entire group went to a nearby bar for post-match shots & beers b/c Fucsia Server had made us feel so unwelcome all night. The rest of the group followed shortly thereafter. I haven't spent a ton of time at Barcade Chelsea but everyone else I've encountered who works there has been nice to very nice. My experience with the staff at Barcade Williamsburg, where I have spent more time, is that they are mostly very friendly & as attentive as they can be (although when that joint gets crowded it's hard to get served). Additional notes: besides paying for games for hours everyone in our party patronized the bar: most had multiple beers, plus a few full meals & appetizers. The food was fine. The service (w/ one notable exception) was good. The games played well. The space was comfortable, not as crowded & loud as other times I'd been there. I've had more than one opportunity to return to Barcade Chelsea since then & b/c of the experience described above opted to go elsewhere instead. I hope Fucsia Server is over whatever it was that made her behave that way that night.

Yelp
I recently visited Barcade (Chelsea) for the first time for a private event. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had! I'm going to start with the bartenders and the drinks. The bartenders were amazing! Brian was the one that was generally down at our end of the bar, and he was the absolute epitome of what a great bartender should be-attentive, friendly, happy to answer questions and quick to serve the drinks. He really did a great job. I was sad that there apparently was a shift change while I was off playing games and I didn't get to leave him a tip...he deserved it! Speaking of drinks, I had so much fun exploring the extensive craft beer menu-tried a few I didn't like (Thanks, Brian for bringing me samples to try!) and found more than a few that I absolutely loved. I also tried the Viking Blood bourbon/mead drink and totally fell in love with it. Can you say YUMMY?! The food was also delicious. The burger sliders were AMAZING. The Tater Tots were great. The fried pickles were awesome. I feel like there was something else I really liked, but I can't remember for sure....umm....please forgive my lapse in memory, but...did you see all the good stuff I drank? The games? Talk about a throwback to my younger days! I had so much fun playing and just watching other people play and have a good time. Galaga, Asteroids, Pacman, Centipede....all the classics and then some! The only improvement I'd like to see is that I wish there were hand sanitizers hanging around throughout the joint. After touching all those sometimes-sweaty joysticks I would've appreciated a dousing of germ killer! Hand sanitizer or not, if I lived in the city, this would be my local neighborhood hangout, for sure. I hope to make it back there some day!

Yelp
Great cocktails, great service, this place is only a downer when it is overloaded with finance bros. Let the gamers rise up and destroy the false finance prophesy. (JK. The tots were great.)

Yelp
Barcade was a great place to hang out, there were a great number of arcade games, mostly 2 tokens per play. We especially loved the three player game "The BishiBashi"! Drinks were good, except the bartender rolling their eyes at my friend who ordered a margarita for me, because the place was more of a beer place I guess. Also outside food isn't allowed which was a bummer since I was celebrating my birthday here, but the wait staff was nice about it and totally understandable, would be helpful to have the information on the website along with a menu so people know that there's food as well !

Yelp
It's a fun place for a date, which was what I came here for. We got the burger and wings to share, and they have a decent number of beers on tap. But we're here for the games, and that's what I'll talk about now. They were great! They had a bunch of the classics, including Pac man, both the Simpsons Game and the X-Men Game counterpart (I forget the name), and a lot of other games I recognized the style, but not the names of. They also had the typical racecar game, an Atari-looking one with the aliens (again, I've seen it a million times but IDK the name), a few of the 'bash-it-as-fast-as-you-can' games with the silly character faces and names, and more. There was one I'd never seen before that I found interesting--it was towards the center of the room, was big and white, and had a tiny 3D thing. The premise was that you were traveling through time for a quick-draw setting, where you had to kill the person before they shot/stabbed/hacked you to death first. It seemed like it should be fun, though it was a bit laggy--so it was more of prediction-playing than reaction. That's fine too, but it felt more like a side effect of the machine's age, than game design itself. Also, the game 'console' machine was GIANT for such a small interface and simple design. That's not Barcade's fault though. The one game I didn't see but with they had was Burger Time. I was introduced to it a few years ago in an Upstate NY comic store, but that venue has since closed its arcade section, so I've been hoping to see it again! That's not a dock against Barcade either, but a friendly wishlist!

Yelp
Busy, noisy, lots of original 80s and 90s games, massive beer list. Games seem to range from 1-3 tokens. Food looked and smelled good though I didn't eat. Games aren't in the best shape overall but still fun. Bar kept my ID and card during visit which I don't love. Door person requires ID at all times.

Yelp
Need ID (21+) at the door to get in. ATM With $2 fee inside. A pretty small but still fun spot to enjoy an evening with friends. There are games for everyone, from PacMan (Battle Royale 4 player as well as normal Pac-Man) to Trivial Pursuit. $20 is more than enough for a few people to play all they want- most games only cost one token ($0.25). Call me a boomer but I spent $2 playing Trivial Pursuit, got my name on the leaderboard, and felt the most accomplished I've felt all month lol. There are no vegan food options which is a little disappointing, but I guess I didn't come for the food anyway.

Yelp
Attempted to order drinks. When the bartender came to me, I pointed to the person who was there before me. They were served. My turn was up! Bartender takes two separate orders that came after me. By the third, I flagged and explained that I was there before the person he was about to serve. With an attitude, he asked, "Do you want to keep having this conversation, or do you want me to keep making drinks?" I told him, "I'd like you to take my order before this next person because I was here before all of them." He did. Reluctantly. That's upsetting because I tried to be reasonable. Atmosphere is cool!

Yelp
We love New York, we love Chelsea, we HATE BARCADE. Whoever worked security the night of 10/16 will be the demise of your business. My husband and I walked up to have a couple drinks and food. We were met by the most power hungry, outrageous security guard. He's what you think of when someone has no power in their regular life, but is given a position of power that means literally nothing. He made a decision that my husband who had done NOTHING to him wasn't allowed in because he "smelled like alcohol". We were going into a bar, he had TWO BEERS before we got to the bar. He proceeded to tell us, multiple times, he had "made his decision" and he "runs this place". We asked to speak to a manager. He refused time and time again, TAUNTING my husband getting in his face asking if he would "do something about it". My husband put his hands up saying "I'm not going in there, there just has to be someone else to talk to" and the security guard said "you gonna hit me?" At one point, he pushed my husband out into the sidewalk when all he did was look around the security guard into the restaurant and ask for help. Me, who hadn't been irrationally banned, asked to go in so I could speak to a manager without my husband. I was told I was also banned because I was with him. What an embarrassing experience for us, for no reason and more importantly, what a disgusting display of "power" by a man who has clearly nothing else going for him: Not only will we not go back, we immediately went to OTHER bars and restaurants where we were welcome; we spent our money and told this tale.

Yelp
So the arcade theme bar is always a hit. Especially if you're going for games. They have a good selections for your nostalgic old school moment. However if your going to have food make sure it's actually good. Although that maybe too much to ask for since it is bar food right? Lol well I ordered a Philly cheese steak egg roll. The eggroll didn't have any peppers,Onions, nothing. Completely disgusting to the point that I actually spit it back in a napkin. That should be taken off the menu. I also ordered a grilled chicken Bacon avocado sandwich. You could totally use a lot of avocados at this particular restaurant because the avocados weren't fully ripe yet. But don't trip it still tasted good. The only thing is the bread for the sandwich I did not get the name but it was disgusting. The bread makes Or breaks the sandwich. Yeah you be the judge on that one for yourself. also ordered a cheeseburger sliders Those were pretty good. But I'm glad they were because if you mess up burgers then you really have a problem. However it was a great night the bartender makes strong drinks. That's a definite plus. It's a good chills spot to vibe.

Yelp
Barcade is a cozy bar arcade place. My first time being there this month 10/23. I was there for a meeting with my job. I was hungry when I arrived and none of staff was there yet. I order the traditional burger fries no cheese. Delicious Had a prosecco. They had the brand I love. The was hot and good. The bartender sorry I forgot his name, but he was awesome. He was friendly and very nice. I had along with my coworkers had a great time at Barcode.

Yelp
The best arcade bar for retro gamers. We need NFL Blitz Now! [NFL blitz 2000 special edition] love this place

Yelp
This place looks kinda douchey from the outside, but is more chill than it lets on. Don't expect a dave-and-busters experience here, but expect mediocre drinks with 80's/90's nostalgia video games. Drinks were reasonably priced. Post-covid, this place feels kinda more dingy, just because who knows who touched that joystick/buttons before you - but bring your own sanitizer and you'll (hopefully) be fine.

Yelp
Upscale bar food, and a really fun time with plenty of good beers and mixed drinks. Games are a blast and at a low cost token on most games. Ryan was very helpful and used good supervisory discretion and handled a small issue quickly and professionally. Bailey was super friendly and great at the bar! Thank you and see you soon!

Yelp
Fun spot for date night! Can get crowded though weekend evenings. But lots of games and cool unique vibes.

Yelp
*3.5 stars* Pretty cool place to come with friends or even a date, depending on what you're looking for since it does get busy and crowded weekend nights. I've been a couple of times and had a pretty good time, though I did not play any of the games so have no opinion on that. The drinks are actually cheaper than other places in the area and service is incredible, very quick! Yes, it's loud but it's still possible to have a conversation and meet new people. A big young crowd. Again depending on what you're looking for, can be a fun place!

Yelp
I love me a good barcade!! There were several machines dispersed along the walls throughout the rather spacious venue, most of them costing 25 cents or one token (some required 2), and a great selection indeed! I found myself playing Millipede and Ms Pacman the most. I set the high score in fact! I wonder if someone has beaten me by now? In between games, I did try a couple of drinks that were tasty, such as the Jungle Bird and Rutger Sour (cheers Dad!). I can't really speak on the food, but I was able to happily kill a couple of hours in this place. And, I was able to charge my phone on the power strips in between arcade machines! Now there are a couple games I do wish they had -- can't say I know the whole process that goes into which machines they use, but either way it was a great time.

Yelp
We wanted to find a bar that we could casually drink at and stumbled upon barcade. It's a different vibe then most bars but the beers are really good. There are a lot of arcade games to choose from. Great to come with friends or even a date night. If you like IPA I highly recommend the yes farm yes beer one!

Yelp
This location of barcade was way too crowded and just terrible. Granted I went on a Saturday night and I knew the wait was going to be long to get drinks, but I just flat out did not enjoy this location as much as the Williamsburg location. The ambiance was terrible. Horrible, loud, headache inducing songs were played... and lets not even mention the drinks. I ordered 2 whisky sours and it was entirely corn syrup water mixed with a teeeeeny tiny bit of whisky. I couldn't drink it. That was $15 (per drink) down the drain. I wish I could've taken a picture of how you can see the syrup floating in the drink (I could not because it was too dark inside). The only thing that was okay was the tequila shots ... but then again... you can't mess up shots. It is literally straight from a bottle. I had 3 gin and tonics (which I had to ask them to mix with club soda instead of their liquid sugar tonic water), but even then I only had a SLIGHT buzz. The Williamsburg location is literally a better bang for your buck! So go there instead.

Yelp
The food was pretty good for a bar. The Mac and cheese bites were really good. The fries were good. The tenders were ok. The mini burgers were ok. The game selection was decent but I feel like they had a lot of niche games. I wish there was air hockey and things like that

Yelp
Actually really really fun! You do need cash to get tokens for the games, but they have some great games that bring back a lot of nostalgia. Not really somewhere to come hang out if you don't want to play games (duh) and don't expect to have fancy cocktails here but if in the mood it's a great time! Note that we came really late in the evening and it was not at all crowded and we could play any game that we wanted - not sure if it gets annoyingly crowded earlier in the evening.

Yelp
Avoid this place and read on if you want to hear about the first time I got kicked out of a bar... . Lame story ahead! We bought a lot of drinks and was ready to play games and I was trying to drink out of my hydroflask and this worker goes "what is that?" And I didn't get to tell him what it was (water if you were wondering LOL) and he goes "You have to get out now". And he kept forcing me out by standing really close to me to get me out the door, so it made my 4 friends chug their drinks and shots or leave them, so I don't have to wait outside alone! Avoid it this place even if it's the only bar that is available with no lines to get in and everywhere else is full! I can see why now...... If you're curious about what happened next, we had a blast somewhere else and the food/drinks was amazing too :). I mean if I didn't get my friends and I kicked out, the next place would've been closed and then I would've been definitely sad!

Yelp
My brother and I had a lot of fun. It was low-key and not wildly expensive. I like how they have the leaderboard on the wall with the top scores of each game

Yelp
Came in on a rainy day. One of our guys had an expired ID which was fine. We were about to leave but just wanted to look up directions but security made all of us wait out in the rain while a pretty girl gets to wait inside texting. Very unprofessional.

Yelp
I have also been to the Barcade in the East Village. This location is bigger and less crowded. On an early Sunday night, it was less than half full, which was great for us. The atmosphere is very laid back and has more of a dive bar feel to it. The customers when we were there appeared to be mainly in their 20s and 30s. This is a great place for a date or for groups. What makes this place amazing are the classic arcade machines. I would estimate that there were at least 50 machines. These included: Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Millipede, Fix It Felix, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Golden Axe, Pong, Tetris, Metal Slug, NBA Jam, Crazy Taxi, and many more. The booze was also good - there was a pretty extensive beer selection on tap. And the bar food was not bad either. We had a sampler platter, which had pulled pork sandwiches, tater tots, chicken wings, and mozzarella sticks. Everything tasted fresh and came quick.

Yelp
Cute, fun, young and lively spot. Good option for colder evenings or bad weather, especially. Bring cash for tokens so you can play all the games (which are all .25 cents- .50 cents a play). The machines don't use quarters but instead the tokens available there. I was disappointed by the lack of DDR lol but otherwise good game variety. Crowded but not too crowded. Bar had great selection of beers on tap and there was some bar food on the menu though we didn't indulge!
