NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Meaning “glimmer” in Italian, Barlume is an all-day spot in Flatiron from the people behind Scarpetta. They serve food inspired by the Italian coastline, along with other Mediterranean regions. Think things like braised artichokes with mint and lemon, octopus served in Catalan style with pickled onions and kalamata olives, pastas, and pinsas (not pizzas, but Roman-style flatbreads). They’ve also got a bar/nightclub downstairs for cocktails and snacks." - will hartman, bryan kim

Enjoyed a great happy hour! Martini with truffle fries $15. I really loved the martini, it was done perfectly. The detail of the Pearl was so cute and special. Olives were delicious as well. Staff was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Especially Alforse and Mason, the best bartenders. Alforse made the best Martini! I will certainly be back to try food options soon. Highly recommend! Beautiful restaurant.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere at Barlume—stylish, cozy, and full of great energy. The service was excellent from start to finish. The food was creative and full of surprises. I was especially impressed by the tuna carpaccio—super fresh fish, juicy tomatoes, and an overall perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience! It’s refreshing to find a place that genuinely prioritizes service. From beginning to end, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. The food was delicious, and the service truly stood out. Thank you, Sarah and Grace. We’ll be back!

Barlume is a fantastic spot for after-work drinks—especially during their “Happiest Hour” menu, which truly can’t be beat. The space is beautiful and open, with plenty of room so you’re not packed in next to other diners. It’s got that perfect balance of upscale yet relaxed. We started with the mezze dips (a must-order), and the tuna and tomato carpaccio, which was fresh and full of flavor. The Mediterranean salad was just okay, and the branzino was the standout—packed with flavor and a generous portion, easily shared between two. For sides, the broccoli rabe was solid, but you can skip the potatoes. Service was excellent—professional and attentive without being overbearing. It really added to the overall experience. Definitely a go-to for me!

Excellent food and drinks with attentive and friendly service. We had shared small plates for brunch and drinks and left immensely satisfied. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back for dinner.

Come for the unbelievable Pizza and Drinks. Great location, beautiful place. The Duck raghoo though had too much lemon sest although the pasta was hand made fresh in an incredible shape (wish they had their famous Spaghetti Pomodoro, the catalan cream too much orange sest. The service was top.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and a light dinner. The artichoke was soft and delicious, but the crisps were soaked and could’ve been much crispier. The same goes for the fish skin—it was soggy. On the brighter side, the patatas bravas were quite good. As for the pasta, it lacked eggplant and was undercooked, even less than al dente. Overall, it wasn’t the best first impression, but I’d be open to giving it another try.

Absolutely loved this place! The vibes were great, the service was top-notch, and Derek truly went above and beyond. We tried the brunch menu, and every dish was better than the last—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
This new restaurant in the heart of flatiron district is a real gem. We arrived for our 5:30 reservation and we decided to stay at the bar because it felt right to stay there. Everyone was super welcoming, warm and professional. The food was beyond expectations: there are some many different choices of fine Mediterranean dishes but clearly there is a strong italian influence with some of the best pinsa (pizza) we have ever had. Among the apps the yellowtail tartar and the crab crostini really stand out. I trained a Lambrusco sbagliato and I was in heaven, I had 3 more wines by the glass and they were all excellent. Th place was busy and the vibe was so in tune with everything, music was just perfect. What an addition to the neighborhood! An instant classic!!

Yelp
This is for downstairs. Drinks didn't blend well. For the price I would go someone with better cocktails. It was very crowded till probably 11/midnight
