NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Meaning “glimmer” in Italian, Barlume is an all-day spot in Flatiron from the people behind Scarpetta. They serve food inspired by the Italian coastline, along with other Mediterranean regions. Think things like braised artichokes with mint and lemon, octopus served in Catalan style with pickled onions and kalamata olives, pastas, and pinsas (not pizzas, but Roman-style flatbreads). They’ve also got a bar/nightclub downstairs for cocktails and snacks." - will hartman, bryan kim

Leyenda, a Decade-Old Bar of Cobble Hill, Plans to Relocate | Eater NY

"Restaurateur John Meadow, following Scarpetta and American Cut, is opening an all-day restaurant with partner Avery Britton: a 235-seat, three-level space that is slated to open December 12 in the space that previously housed Beecher’s cheese shop. Chef Juan Vazquez’s menu will largely feature Italian dishes—spaghetti with bottarga, bucatini with zucchini ragu, and panzerotti with stracciatella—while also nodding to Spain." - Melissa McCart

I had one of the best dining experiences in my many years in New York City at Barlume. The quality and creativity of the food were exceptional. We had the blue crab toast, the charred red pepper and walnut spread, the perfectly executed busiate pasta, and the grilled minute steak topped with a poached egg, each dish thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The cocktails were just as impressive, the Neon Lights was crips and refreshing, and the Monte Carlo Old Fashioned was delicious and a perfect winter drink. Combined with outstanding and warm service by the manager Avery and our waitress Maria, and the warm, stylish ambience, Barlume delivers a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience at Barlume Restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was absolutely delicious. A special shoutout to the hostess, Shelbi, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming from the moment we arrived. She went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and made us feel right at home. Her kindness and professionalism really stood out. Highly recommend Barlume for anyone looking for great food, great vibes, and amazing service!

I love this place! Located on lower Broadway in my favorite neighborhood, the service and food was excellent. The open, airy, well-decorated space is so inviting. I’m taking off one star because the French fries were not served hot. I would still go back!

Google
Great service and food! I always feels ignored by customer service when I sit outside, but the servers here were attentive! Came for a drink and some appetizers by myself on a Saturday morning. The sommelier came outside to pour wine for tasting, explained and smiled. The pita bread was so soft, and the spread of hummus paired each other perfectly. There was sweet from ricotta, smokiness from red pepper, tangy from yogurt, and richness from hummus. I love this place, will definitely come back to try other dishes someday.

Barlume is easily one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I’ve visited. The hummus was smooth, flavorful, and unforgettable, while the Busiate pasta was one of the most delicious pastas I’ve ever had. Definitely a must-try!

Enjoyed a great happy hour! Martini with truffle fries $15. I really loved the martini, it was done perfectly. The detail of the Pearl was so cute and special. Olives were delicious as well. Staff was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Especially Alforse and Mason, the best bartenders. Alforse made the best Martini! I will certainly be back to try food options soon. Highly recommend! Beautiful restaurant.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere at Barlume—stylish, cozy, and full of great energy. The service was excellent from start to finish. The food was creative and full of surprises. I was especially impressed by the tuna carpaccio—super fresh fish, juicy tomatoes, and an overall perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This new restaurant in the heart of flatiron district is a real gem. We arrived for our 5:30 reservation and we decided to stay at the bar because it felt right to stay there. Everyone was super welcoming, warm and professional. The food was beyond expectations: there are some many different choices of fine Mediterranean dishes but clearly there is a strong italian influence with some of the best pinsa (pizza) we have ever had. Among the apps the yellowtail tartar and the crab crostini really stand out. I trained a Lambrusco sbagliato and I was in heaven, I had 3 more wines by the glass and they were all excellent. Th place was busy and the vibe was so in tune with everything, music was just perfect. What an addition to the neighborhood! An instant classic!!

Yelp
This is for downstairs. Drinks didn't blend well. For the price I would go someone with better cocktails. It was very crowded till probably 11/midnight
