"Yes, that Barney’s Beanery. Though the 90-year-old bar is a bonafide SoCal chain these days, this is the OG location and the quirkiness endures. You come to Barney’s after you’ve already gone home and put your comfies on only to decide that you actually do need that beer. Slide into one of their always-too-small booths, play some trivia, and watch semi-famous sitcom actors sing karaoke. All in your comfies." - brant cox
"If you’ve ever watched a sporting event at a bar in LA County, there’s a 50/50 chance that bar was a Barney’s Beanery. With locations from Redondo Beach to Pasadena, their big, boisterous sports bars are everywhere, and definitely get wild on NFL Sundays." - kat hong, james montgomery
"Here’s the thing about the original location of Barney’s Beanery—it’s a good sports bar. There are TVs everywhere, the bar food is solid, and unlike many other places to watch a game in this town, there’s some history inside. Under no circumstance, though, does that mean anyone should be waiting an hour to get inside. Thanks to Taylor Swift’s visit in April 2024 (among other celebrity sightings), this once-reliable hangout has been claimed by people who show up to bars after 10pm with a ring light. We know Barney’s will one day be given back to the neighborhood, but until then, watch your sports elsewhere." - brant cox
"Barney’s Beanery has been a game-day institution since the 1960s and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. There are multiple locations around town, but the OG Weho location will always win out. There are enough TVs to keep an eye on every meaningful game for your fantasy team and the newspaper-sized menu is filled with everything from their famous turkey chili to pizza that has no business being so good." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"A West Hollywood bar is hosting an event on April 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. presented by Biite Club and done in conjunction with La Burg (a pop-up from San Francisco). The menu will feature Juicy Lucys — described as "frozen patties wrapped around cheese popularized in the Midwest; sold locally at Jons and Gelson’s" — served with dry martinis. Tickets cost $36 apiece." - Matthew Kang
