The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"From the team behind Besta, Batea is the fish joint Barcelona needs and deserves. Their secret to success is simple: great people, great produce, and not taking yourself too seriously. Kick things off with the mariscada (best translated as a seafood feast) that changes up often but typically involves crab, cockles, and clams loaded up on a two-tiered cake stand like afternoon tea, and some fresh Galician oysters. Then get into mains like the ultra-gooey omelet topped with charred baby squid, or the simple and perfectly grilled Mediterranean red prawns. The décor is colorful, with pink-and-purple striped wallpaper, and the service is warm—don’t be surprised if you’ve made friends with your server before the night is done or chat with the maître d’ over a gin and tonic." - isabelle kliger

The 38 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"Don’t let the prime location fool you; Batea is all about excellent quality seafood without the exorbitant prices you might expect so close to the Passeig de Gràcia. The menu features the best of the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, and the kitchen strives to be classic without falling into stale tropes of tradition. Begin your meal with a mini seafood tower from the raw bar, followed by tender fried monkfish tails, cockles in dashi broth, and the Betanzos-style omelet (a Galician specialty) topped with red prawn tartare or sauteed baby squid." - Sam Zucker

Batea

"This cosmopolitan bistro located on one side of the emblematic Avenida Palace hotel has a contemporary interior that provides the backdrop for fusion cooking that combines traditional Catalan and Galician cuisine. The market-inspired small plates on offer here have a constant focus on the Atlantic and the Mediterranean." - Michelin Inspector

The 35 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"If you're in Barcelona, we'll hazard a guess that you're after seafood—ideally without paying an arm and a leg. Come to Batea for top-notch produce at a price point unrivaled in Central Barcelona. Like its sister restaurant Besta, Batea takes its mission seriously so you can be sure it will always be painstakingly fresh and prepared with just the right measure of love and creativity to make it pop without getting pretentious. Kick things off with a couple of Galician oysters and the seafood platter–or crustacean tower, as we like to call it–which, you'll be pleased to know, is just as grand as it sounds. Don’t miss the white prawn tartare roll, before moving onto mains like the vinegar-marinated mackerel escabeche, and the unmissable ultra-gooey Betanzos-style omelet, topped with either shrimp or baby squid, depending on what’s in season. Chef Manuel Núñez’s partner Marta Morales runs the front of house and is also responsible for mixing your cocktails and pairing your wine. Since she does this so flawlessly, our advice is to tell her what you like and leave it in her more-than-capable hands." - Isabelle Kliger, Gemma Askham

One of the best dinners of my life! Ranked in top 5 all time. The food was sublime, combinations of flavors, service, ambiance, & music. We tried as many dishes as possible and every one was incredible. Left feeling like that was a proper culinary experience. Thank you Batea team! Seasoned oysters, croquettes, octopus highly recommend but truly hard to pick my favorite!

My dining mate loves seafood so we had to try this restaurant and we were not disappointed. This was probably one of our favourite restaurants we tried on our trip. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend you make a reservation: it was packed (despite being 8pm) and we saw several people turned away. Hard to pick highlights, because everything was so delicious but some knockouts: 1. Oysters: I'm not a big oyster fan, but the seasoned oysters were WOW. The sauces complemented the oysters so perfectly -- creamy, tangy, verdant 2. Scallops: original take on scallops, which were served warm and sliced. 3. Clams: oh my goodness, these clams. They were served with Agua de Lourdes (which we had never tried); they were sour, creamy and unforgettable 4. Tomato salad: acidic and extremely satisfying. A sleeper hit. Would definitely come back. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

We were at the restaurant for lunch on Friday. Everything was perfect. The interior was very elegant and apart from casual dining, it is well suited for special occasions too. Toilets were clean anf spacious toilets with golden taps. Of all the dishes we tried, the Galician mussels were the best, especially the sauce, to which the attentive waiter brought us bread so we could enjoy every last drop. The roast pork belly served within the surf and turf rice, along with monkfish cheeks was also delicious. The prices matched the quality and freshness of the ingredients, while still being fair, especially considering the location near Placa de Catalunya. We were a bit disappointed that the water was not free, which should be a standard. The service was attentive and friendly, and several small talks with the waiter only added to the already great atmosphere of the place. A minor discrepancy in the final bill was compensated by a delicious coffee liqueur. Overall, we enjoyed the place very much, and on our next visit to Barcelona we will be happy to come again. Recommended.

A pleasant dinner but we expected finer tastes. It all tasted good and the croquetas de pollo with tartar de gambas was the most successful dish. Just a bit short of deliciousness. I will go to other places on my Barcelona list before coming back to Batea.

A charming, well-decorated restaurant with a seasonal seafood-focused menu. Highlights included the artichoke pita and marinated fish escabeche. However, dishes like the octopus and rice with duck and prawns fell short. Service was polite but distant, and it took a while before we could order. Besides, the recommended wine didn’t meet expectations, as our first choice was unavailable. Overall, value for money: 7.5/10.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent dinner at Batea in Barcelona. Forget the typical touristy tapas spots, this place delivers something far more refined. Don’t be intimidated by the elegant setting; the vibe is welcoming and the food is outstanding. Every dish was well thought out and packed with flavour. Bring a big appetite to order more food if possible.

At this restaurant, you won’t just taste flavors you never imagined trying—you’ll also enjoy them alongside exceptional wines and cocktails. Kudos to the chef—the food is simply incredible! The service and kindness of the staff, especially Tomás and Raquel, truly moved me. Thank you, Batea, for a wonderful, delicious, and flawless evening!

This was our first meal in Barcelona, and it did not disappoint! Since it was a public holiday, many restaurants were closed, but we spotted this one open and had already bookmarked it, so we decided to give it a try. Luckily, we were able to dine for lunch without a reservation. We ordered the spanish omelette, seasoned oysters and Spanish seafood rice, and everything was absolutely delicious. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the seafood rice was packed with flavor. The table near us just ordered two seafood rice for both of them - everyone really LOVES it. The staff were fantastic —not only did they check in on us to ensure we were enjoying our meal, but they also shared interesting stories about the restaurant, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!
