Bathhouse Flatiron Restaurant - Review - Flatiron - New York - The Infatuation

"Bathhouse in Flatiron looks like a Blade Runner set—sharp red and icy blue lights—and it’s a social place, filled with groups of friends blowing off steam after a long week. Once you’ve complained about work in a 190 degree sauna, or compared bonuses in the 52 degree plunge pool, the loungey upstairs restaurant is worth a visit. Yes, there’s chia pudding on the menu, but the food is reliably better and more interesting than your typical, bland spa fare. There’s hard-charred cabbage, and jammy roasted sweet potato with salsa verde and tahini, and it all tastes pretty good, paired with a fresh pot of lemon ginger tea. Plus the menu rotates, so you might find something new to try the next time you visit." - Will Hartman

BATHHOUSE — Spa Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"BATHHOUSE has been a longtime wellness hub for stylish Brooklynites and in-the-know visitors, but thanks to its new second location in the heart of Flatiron, the chic subterranean spa is now reaching a whole new clientele. Fans of the Williamsburg original know BATHHOUSE as the 6,500-square-foot oasis of thermal pools and saunas housed in the basement of a 1930’s brick factory. The Flatiron space, however, takes a more modern approach to its design, transforming the former underground parking garage into a sleek, 35,000-square-foot, 21 st -century bath house and wellness center. The new BATHHOUSE has a total of six pools (two cold plunges, two hot pools, one neutral pool, and one salt pool), a Russian-style Banya, an 800-square foot dry sauna, an infrared sauna, and a steam room. And if spending a day hopping between these facilities isn’t already treatment enough, visitors can book a number of services, including a full-body massage, a hammam scrub, and the Hero’s Journey, which combines all of BATHHOUSE’s treatments into one all-inclusive experience."

If you're looking for a day of unadulterated relaxation, the Bath House is the perfect place to unwind and recharge. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of calm that stayed with me throughout the entire day. Here’s a breakdown of my jam-packed, yet incredibly relaxing experience. Walking into the Bath House feels like stepping into another world. The soothing sounds of water, the subtle scent of essential oils in the air, the soft lighting easily put me at ease. The space is designed with tranquility in mind—natural wood, stone features, and a minimalist aesthetic that creates an atmosphere of peace and serenity. The surroundings alone are enough to make you forget about the outside world. Spa Facilities I started the day with a session in the thermal pools. There are several to choose from, each with varying temperatures, so I was able to move from one to the next at my own pace. The hot pools were perfect for loosening up sore muscles, while the cold pools were invigorating and refreshing. I enjoyed the steam room, and the pool a lot. Food & Drinks To make the experience even more indulgent, there’s a light lunch option at the Bath House, and I opted for the chicken dumplings 🥟 . Perfect for a spa day. It didn’t leave me feeling sluggish or overly full. Service The staff at the Bath House deserves a mention of its own. From the moment I checked in, everyone was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely interesting, making my experience exceptional! Final Thoughts 💭 A day at the Bath House is the ultimate retreat for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From the luxurious spa treatments to the serene ambiance, every detail is designed to help you relax and reconnect with yourself. I left feeling rejuvenated, both physically and mentally, and I can’t recommend it enough. Rating:★★★★★ (5/5) Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility and self-care in the most luxurious way!

If you looking to chill and enjoy a good time with your friends or partner, this is the to go place, it’s amazing for People who suffer anxiety because it literally relaxes you completely, the bathrooms and changing stations are clean, the thermal pools and saunas are nice and clean, the cafe is relaxing and they have some drink options that you can try. Also they protect your privacy which makes you feel appreciated and protected. This is my 3rd time here and definitely going back

Absolute 10/10 experience I wish I found out about this place earlier. Bathhouse Flatiron was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience! The variety of amenities made it easy to completely unwind in whichever way you please. Whether it be between the hot and cold pools, multiple saunas, and steam rooms, there’s truly something for everyone. The underground location adds a cool, hidden vibe, and the dimly lit ambience makes it feel even more intimate and relaxing. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and designed for pure comfort. It’s good for a night out with friends, or even to come out for a date. What made it even better was the day pass, which allows for a cost-effective way to enjoy for anyone who doesn’t have a full-time membership to the facility. This was the case for me as I don’t stay in the city and just visited for occasion, but I can wholeheartedly say it was worth it and more will definitely be coming back somewhere in the future when it pertains. HIGHLY RECCOMEND🙌🏾

I have visited a bathhouse in Strausborg France and another in Zurich Switzerland. I was so excited to find this place in NYC. The concept definitely is more popular in Europe but I found Bathhouse Flatiron to be a great experience. You will likely read other reviews that complain about the towels or how loud it is. The towels are just typical gym towels. They are not intended to be used as a cover up, they are intended for use in the saunas, steam room and to dry off. There are plenty of towels everywhere, you can get a fresh towel anytime you need it. We came at 9:00pm on a Saturday night. It was very busy and to be expected it was a little loud. I am sure that if you came earlier in the day or during the week it wouldn’t be as loud or busy. We had no issues. The pools were much more crowded than the saunas or steam room. It was a good time and we will be back.

Gorgeous space with access to loads of tubs, saunas, and cold plunges! My partner, who is a professional dancer, got a 50 minute massage from Walesca and she said it was one of the best massages she ever got! 15/10 recommend booking with Walesca We also got to participate in one of the Banya rituals with Nathan- he was fantastic and led us through 12 minutes of breathing in the heated sauna with music & essential oil salts melting into the air. It was divine. No photos of the space because I unplugged all day but I did manage to grab a selfie in the empty locker room end of day. Phones are allowed in the lounge areas / restaurant. Also, the miso wings are fantastic as well as the dumplings.

I went 2 weeks ago with my girlfriend and we had a great time. We booked a day pass for Saturday morning at 9am, so it was only $50 a person. I thought that was a great value for $50 each. We got there promptly at 9am, check- in took about 3 min max, and after we changed, we were in the pools by 9:15. We spent about 3.5 hours there total. We alternated between the pools and all the different saunas and even took a 30 min nap in the quiet area. The space was super clean and the staff were very professional. It did get busy, but all the other guests were very respectful. The locker room amenities were also really nice. I loved the showers with the touch screen control and even the wristband-activated lockers were cool. Great experience overall, definitely recommend for a relaxing morning or afternoon!

Visited Bathhouse Flatiron during its opening week in January 2024 and was thoroughly impressed. My experience with bathhouses had been limited to public baths in Japan so I wasn’t sure what to expect from an American take on the concept. Safe to say, it exceeded expectations. The transition from sauna to cold plunge and repeating the process was invigorating—completely changed the way I see the ice bath culture. I enjoyed it so much that I went back later that same week. The space was well-designed, the atmosphere balanced social energy with relaxation, and the overall experience felt premium without being pretentious. Would love to see more businesses like this in San Diego. Looking forward to returning when I’m in NYC again.

Google
Absolutely amazing time - the water is so relaxing and even at 10pm, the place was filled with people (I want to say maybe 30-40 across all the pools.) Ended up starting a conversation with someone and it led to a late life talk - 10/10 would recommend. That said, just be prepared, not everyone is interested in talking and just want to sit in the water. Staff were super kind, the actual place looks like a James Bond movie, would go again for sure! Also they warm their pools with Bitcoin mining which is such an ingenious idea!

Yelp
Staff is nice as are the saunas tho the cold plunge is a tad too cold. 54 would be a nice sweet spot. There is zero signage letting you know which pool is which - which ones are hot which ones are cold - no signage at all letting you know which saunas are which. it's very dark in there you have to just sort of memorize what's where which is ridiculous - put up some signs! there's also no indication of what size the sandals are that you're putting on. I ended up with a huge size. And didn't see anywhere to put used sandals. You also have to walk a long way from shower to your locker tho I like the electronic wristbands that open the shower. The towels are rough and minuscule. I went on a weeknight and it felt like a nightclub - way too many people. Would also be nice to have women-only hours. I hope I don't get a staph infection.

Yelp
12/21/24 My friend and I got a full-body massage by Shaine. He was exceptional at targeting all of the areas that was causing me pain. He was attentive to all of my sensitivities, being sure to consult me every step of the way. He was very professional and answered all of my questions with elaborate detail. I highly recommend him! As a first timer I will definitely come back! The facility was clean especially considering the volume of patrons. All of the staff were pleasant and hard at work. I ended up feeling sick and the staff and patrons were very attentive. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Yelp
I arrived at Bathhouse at 9:45am on a Saturday and they were already full. By the time I left they were packed. The locker rooms were standard where I changed into my bathing suit before my massage. I didn't go into the pools beforehand bc I didn't want to be wet getting a massage, although plenty of people were doing this. My massage was terrific, I had Cindy, who really focused on trigger points. Overall fantastic. Then I used the steam room, sauna, hot and cold pools. I was solo, but there were solo, couples and groups. Didn't feel awkward at all. Everyone pleasant and talking. Not a quiet spa vibe, but nobody was loud and obnoxious. Then a had a scrub with Georgie. Again fantastic! First time getting a scrub and I loved it, especially warm water being poured over me. After scrub, took full advantage of awesome showers (had body wash, shampoo, conditioner) and amenities to get ready for a lunch date. They had hair dryers, face wash, lotion, hair ties, qtips. Also plenty of towels everywhere and slides provided. Only downside was upon arrival, no one takes you downstairs and it's dark and can be confusing. Took me awhile to get my bearings. Overall, loved it and can't wait to go back with some friends!

Yelp
Having grown up frequenting Korean day spas in Los Angeles, the Bathhouse was a rather shocking to me: *You are expected to bring your own swimsuit *The facilities are coed *It's extremely dark *It's massive and maze-like. The steam room is large and nice -- I enjoyed it. I didn't find the hot pools to be that warm. I had a massage with Daniel, and he was terrific! The highlight of my visit.... : ) Daniel made the visit worthwhile -- truly skilled with high pressure, deep tissue massage. And while I'm thankful for Daniel, Bathhouse just isn't the place for me.

Yelp
I went on a Wednesday at 2:00p, with a 'day pass' to simply use their pools, etc. This was on a VERY cold day in the month of January. First off, I was quite surprised at how busy the place was, on a weekday, and in the middle of the afternoon. I had to wonder...is it possible that with so many people working remotely now, that they all thought it might be nice to enjoy a bath house, and on a very cold day? Perhaps. Anyway, this was my very first time at Bathhouse. First off, the person who checked me in wasn't all that great. They handed me a wrist bracelet...quickly mumbled something about 'this is for your locker...press it against the button to lock it.... go down there...turn left...towels are in the locker room'. I thought 'huh? I couldn't remember or understand anything they said to me...and not because they had an accent or anything...it was just as if they really didn't care to give me any meaningful information or want me to really understand how things worked there. So I headed further into the establishment, and then wandered around, trying to figure out where to go. It's also made more difficult by the fact that the place is not only very dimly lit but...there are little to no signs directing you where to go. And the space is massive, BTW. I finally found the women's locker room...looked for an available locker, but then couldn't figure out how to open a locker, so I asked another person there, who helped me. Then when it came time to LOCK my locker, I couldn't seem to get it to lock. Turns out, my wrist bracelet was apparently not working properly, as one of the attendants in the locker room subsequently confirmed to me. She gave me a different bracelet, and then I was finally able to lock up my things. Then I head to the baths. There was a very large, cavernous space with about 4 different pools of warm water and maybe 2 pools of cold water. I headed for the warm pools and entered one of them. Unfortunately, I quickly realized that the pool area isn't exactly 'zen' or relaxing. Most people there were either couples, or small groups of friends, etc. As such, most people were having conversation with others (and not in a quiet way; the noise level in the pool area was rather 'loud', for a bathhouse). Therefore, Bathhouse didn't feel like a place to relax, as much as it did a place to .....'socialize'. Not exactly the vibe I was looking for. I later tried the banya room (sauna) which was thankfully a bit more quiet (even though there were other people in there, they seemed to understand or treat that space with a bit more 'reverence' (using their inside voices ;-). Shortly after that, I went to relax for a bit on one of the stuffed couches/foot rests found next to the cafe/dining area. However, after a few minutes, a couple came and sat near to me, conversing rather loudly, so that ended that. I don't think I'd ever come back here, and seeing as there is no way to know or to guarantee that the place won't be so crowded, or loud. I mean, after all, I was there on a Tuesday afternoon. If it's that crowded on a weekday afternoon, I can't even imagine what it must be like during the evenings or the weekend.

Yelp
I was under the impression that this was a place to relax. I enjoyed a couple of the sauna rooms but there were sooo many people here that it felt like a social club, no one using their spa voice. I found out later that they serve alcohol, so maybe that partially explain it. But yeah so many people there that there were pools I didn't want to get into etc. it was also huge with no signs of what directions to go. On the way out a fight almost broke out between some people in the locker room. All the staff I talked to were really nice and there were ample towels and even a cafe. But between how dark the entire place was plus the amount of people, plus the crowd itself, I will not come back.

A R.

Yelp
Pros: Visually "pretty" facilities. Cons: To echo what many others have said - ENTIRELY too many people (especially if you have visited other places like Aire in TriBeca). The lobby was disorganized and overflowing with people checking in. We had to stand around 15 minutes in the locker room to wait for a locker to open (!). There were wall-to-wall people in the cafe and common areas (open seats were non-existent). The pools and steam rooms themselves were also filled to the brim (to the point where I second guessed going in as it felt like I was sitting in a huge stew of grime from strangers). We saw the employee mopping the floor actually push a puddle of floor water INTO the cold plunge. As others have noted, it is not a relaxing, quiet atmosphere. At one point we were yelling to hear what our group was saying. This is a shame as the facilities themselves seemed nice, but the massive overcrowding felt cramped, overwhelming, and unsanitary. I implore Bathhouse to focus on quality and not quantity. Limit the number of patrons and put time limits on the visits. You would get a lot more repeat customers by doing so.

Yelp
Had a great time at Bathhouse Flatiron! It's a great spot to relax with a partner or friends. Definitely on the pricier side, but worth it for a one-time treat. The space is way bigger than Williamsburg, with 5 pools (normal temp, 2 cold, 2 hot, and a salt pool), two saunas, and an amazing steam room. The breathwork session was a cool bonus, and the massage was super relaxing. Just a heads-up--it's not a quiet, zen vibe. The pools are pretty social, with people chatting and walking around in groups. Locker rooms are stocked with everything you might need (hair dryers, hair ties, wet bags, and unlimited towels everywhere). Overall, a fun and chill experience--definitely recommend!

Yelp
I had a really good time and left feeling refreshed and relaxed as can be. It was my first time at this location and it's definitely bigger than the Brooklyn location but also less intimate. The pools were really nice, warm and spacious. There were several options to dip in. There's 2 cold plunges, for the behave folks. We tried each of the saunas and the steam room. I took advantage of the warm spaces and did some stretching. Oh and the couches outside of the bathrooms are pretty comfortable. Took a lil cat nap after everything.

Yelp
Definitely an upgrade from Williamsburg version. Space is big, there are more variety in terms of pools and sauna. One of the hot saunas has a little show that happens every couple of hours which you might find entertaining. You'd need to get into cold plunge afterwards though. FYI there is a quiet area in the back area, although that area is reserved only for massage customers. Massage therapists are pretty solid in skills. They serve food/alcohol for purchase. I thought it was a decent selection. Convenienent location can't be beat either. 5 min walk from NW trains. They also open late. The only thing is you cannot take any pictures inside the pool area which I don't understand why because especially the general area is pretty noisy anyway. I would go back

Yelp
After my ok experience with their Williamsburg location, I'd figured I would give this location a try. The most significant difference is the size this location is probably 3x the size in comparison to begin with bigger lockers & pool area. This one has 5 pools , 2 cold , 2 warm & a hotter one & They are a decent size u don't feel like you are on top of each other like the other location. Also has a seating area, rooms for saunas, a few showers not bad over all. We took a breather & went to the restaurant we had an Apple cider & Ham & cheese puff pastry, both good. The showers here are amazing, you don't want to get out so many jets its so nice & soothing, good toiletries to use. In comparison I liked this location better mainly because it is larger & that makes it more comfortable all around. This was a good visit overall, nice way to spend a few hours.

Yelp
I went into Bathhouse with no expectations. I frequent many Korean Spas, saunas, etc so I wanted to see what this experience would be like. I showed up at 11AM and I had a massage appointment at 12PM. Every one else had the same idea I guess because the check in area was packed when I showed up. About 6-8 people in line and 3 people checking in them in. I didn't wait long to check in. The person checking me in fired off rapid instructions about where to go but I could not retain any of the info 3 minutes after walking away from the desk. Signage can be improved throughout the spa. When you enter the locker areas, there are buckets of sandals but there is no signage indicating if these are used or clean to wear. There is also no where that I saw to drop your used sandals either. There are a ton of lockers and plenty of space. The lockers lock with your bracelet that you receive upon check in. Plenty of towels and amenities in the locker room as well. The person who checked me in said that there would be staff members throughout to help with questions but I noticed an obvious lack of staff when I got to the lockers. I only saw a staff member in there hours later who was cleaning. Some other guests were confused about where to go/what to do and even asked me for help. Unfortunately it being my first time as well, I didn't have much help to offer. I spotted one or two people in the baths area, but I really did not see a heavy staff presence throughout. The Services area does have a host stand where you can check in for your additional services with a staff member. This area also has a nice salt water pool but it is pretty small. The bath and sauna areas are more of a social hour than a relaxing experience. The place is pretty crowded and every one is talking. I noticed large groups seemed to like coming here as I observed groups of 6-8 people traveling in packs. There are several baths including two (?) cold plunges. The cold plunges were mostly empty - it is not for the weak. There are 3 saunas - infrared, banya and dry sauna. The infrared sauna is pretty small, while the dry sauna and banya are bigger. The larger saunas were not crowded when I entered and people seemed to respect silence and relaxation in there more than they did in the baths and infrared sauna. I had a massage with Jennifer and it was excellent! She gave me tips on stretching and was so kind. I followed my massage with a hammam scrub with Stephanie. The scrub was followed by oil application. Stephanie was also great! If you are used to intense Korean scrubs, the hammam scrub will leave you disappointed. It's like a scrub with training wheels on - very light to the touch and not as intense. The oil at the end was a nice touch though and my skin still feels soft a few days later from it. The cafe was pretty busy when I showed up. They have small plates, canned beer and wine, pastries and some other drinks as well. The cafe prices are pretty much highway robbery ($8 pastry, $10 canned drink). They also do not disclose an auto gratuity of 20% that gets added to anything you purchase. I noticed it was added when the cashier rang me up. I came here with the Bathhouse Experience package ($275 for admission, 60 min massage and 30 min scrub). The price was average for what I have seen in other spas that offer similar services. I enjoyed the showers in the locker room too. They each have a digital panel inside the shower that allow you to control the temperature and pressure of your water. They also have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, facial cleanser and moisturizer to use in the locker room. Hair dryers and hair ties are provided, but there are no disposable combs or brushes to use. I did not see disposable razors either. They have plastic bags in the locker room to store your wet swimsuits once you are done. They have a swimsuit drying machine too - but it was out of order. Plenty of restrooms throughout the space as well. I have never been to the Williamsburg location but I hear this Flatiron location is much larger than that one. Overall: Vibe - social, not relaxing or serene in common areas. Relaxing during individual services however. Price - Average Staff - Great for individual services, average for common areas/check in. If you want a relaxing sauna/spa experience, I would not use Bathhouse for that because this place is more of a social hour. However, if this doesn't bother you, I highly recommend going solo for services and/or coming with a group because it does seem like it could be fun with friends. Oh yeah - and I also saw a few couples openly making out or intimately touching each other in the baths/sauna area. Not sure what it is about - not sure why a loud, crowded bath/sauna area would put you in the mood for that. Can you all just please get a room next time? Thanks!!

Yelp
I am in love! The amenities are great and I definitely want to purchase a membership. My massage was pretty bad, I can't lie. I spent so much money and the massage therapist was a bit aggressive/intense when applying oil or switching to massaging a new spot. I kept getting caught off guard LOL but they were able to get in deep and talked me through my bodily issues so overall wasn't terrible but I do thing they could work on transitioning more smoothly so clients don't feel manhandled.

Yelp
I visited Bathhouse on my day off for a day of relaxation, and had a great time! I was pretty impressed by the quality of the showers; in each individual shower booth, there was a touchscreen console to control the water pressure and temperature to the degree. We were also one of the first people to arrive, so the showers were very clean. I saw the staff constantly wiping down surfaces and the shower booths, so I assume it to be pretty clean during later peak hours as well. The pool and sauna areas inside are relatively small. The pool area I liked, but I found some of the saunas to be a little lacking (such as the infrared sauna -- which I get the point is to get infrared light, but the temperature was lukewarm at best). I was also sad to see the lack of an Ice/Cold Room. Nonetheless, it was a fun experience exploring the four different rooms they had, and circulating between the different pool temperatures. I especially enjoyed the cold plunge, which had two options at different temperatures. It is worth to note that we visited on a Friday morning using the Early Bird day pass; the facility had a decent amount of a crowd, but was not crowded at all. I don't think I would've enjoyed my experience as much if it was more crowded -- I would recommend staying away from peak hours like weekends or after work hours. At the price we paid, and the accessibility of this location, I thought my experience was not bad at all -- I definitely see myself coming back when a spa day is much needed!

Yelp
Spent a few hours here today for a much needed self care day. On first thought, the aesthetic sort of reminded me of Sky Lagoon in Iceland--dark, charcoal interior, wrist band taps for the lockers and cafe purchases. But that's kind of where the comparison ended. I made a 10:20 AM appointment hoping to beat some of the crowd but it was surprisingly still busier than I imagined at that time on a Sunday. Bathhouse isn't necessarily your quiet repose--it's loud, people are chatty, it gets crowded and can look messy towards the afternoon once a full crowd is around and towels and water bottles are strewn over the bath area. That aside, I still managed to get in some zen and even dozed off in the sauna. Did a few rounds of the ritual and the banya is no joke. It had to be a solid 150 F when I initially walked in and I had to slowly deep breathe to acclimate just to last for a few minutes. As the door kept opening with the flux of people coming and going, the temperature was more bearable and I did a few rounds naturally followed by an immediate cold plunge smartly placed right outside. The Hammam is my next favorite and I think adding a little aromatherapy to it would be a nice touch but they'd probably have to account for different sensitivities to scents. There are a few other semi-heated pools that were a nice retreat after the hotter rooms. I popped in for lunch right at noon and had the charred cabbage. It was good with the exception of it resting in a glob of mayo (why?). The drink offerings are nice and I really liked the Riesling; it was a little fruity and low acidity. The canned cocktails are also good. Had a Manhattan over ice. All in all, a day well spent and I plan on coming back or making it a routine. My skin was so soft and glowing after. But, I may try to do one of the early bird slots on a weekday to avoid weekend crowds. Or on the reverse since they're open til around midnight, make it a Saturday night thing for more of a social vibe.

Yelp
For the location and admission investment ($60/$70)? I'll take it. This 2nd location (Chelsea) is bigger than Brooklyn (agree point), with more offering. The Palo Santo scent permeates the air on the ground level, with dishes containing cones in multiple corners. This There are a good amount of stairs, so keep this in mind. There are over 222 wardrobe lockers, and your key to locking/opening them (as well as any additional purchases), is your waterproof wristband. Try the Aufguss, but if it's your first time, sit on the bottom tier of seats. Have a cool shower, then a cold water plunge DIRECTLY thereafter. The ambiance is cool, mostly greys and creams. My favorite places were the infra-red sauna (almost took a nap in there), and the salt pool. Side note, the feature above the salt pool is reminiscent of the "rain" light fixtures at Restoration Warehouse, and that made me smile with delight. When you visit: -BYO water bottle, there is a filling station. -BYO robe, washcloth, face and hair products, most everything else is provided for you, including super cute slippers. Nearby: Barnes & Noble Bookstore, Madison Square Park,

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Was in NYC on a weekend getaway & booked a couples massage. If you have a service you can arrive & hour before your booking to start using amenities. There was a line to check in when we arrived but it moved quickly & staff was friendly. You get a wrist band to tap into your locker & be able to lock & unlock it. You can also tie a credit card to it to buy things at the cafe. If you have never been there it's a little confusing how to get around even though they tell you plus their signage is sparse. They provide sandals for you to wear around but you have to dig in the bins to find 2 that match in size. The towels are super tiny so don't expect to wrap them around you fully. They also are not very soft. They have many cold plunge pools, hot tubs, different types of saunas, salt pool & steam room. I wish they would have let people know checking in or before that their steam room wasn't working. Especially with the amount of money you pay to use their facilities. The places fills up & gets loud the later in the day it gets. The couples massage was fantastic & the massage therapist were both considerate & listened to the issues we both had to try & focus on those areas. The cafe was ok. The food choices limited especially in the morning. The scone was ok but pretty much like a cheap grocery store one with little flavor. My husband said his coffee was subpar & my tea was probably a 25 cent tea bag. I wouldn't recommend getting food there unless you just want the experience or you aren't going anywhere to eat after. Will definitely be back but will skip the cafe & we will be sure to ask if all facilities are working.

Yelp
I had an amazing time at bathhouse! You check in at the front and they have a huge locker room space. You can book many different treatments for yourself as well as a +1. I booked the Turkish hamam pro scrub with Anastasia and it was Amazing! I also was able to add on a 30 min focus area massage with Lauren and she was phenomenal! My treatments felt amazing! The spa has cold plunges, hot pools, saunas and steam rooms as well as a cafe. At moments it did feel a bit crowded. The dry saunas were amazing! As were the hot pools. Cold plunge felt amazing! Also- the bathroom showers were amazing! Water pressure was awesome! Also having stations to be able to do your hair and make up are great as well! Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Highly recommend! They need more locations to support crowd control.

Yelp
Nice spot! Fun, but a little underwhelming if I'm being honest.. all the baths are right next to each other so there's no big vibe shift between them -- with the exception of the salt pool. The salt pool, unfortunately, is placed right next to the massage rooms and I guess there is no door or mechanism to keep sound from traveling, because every five minutes or so one of their staff would come to yell (ironic) about how everyone in the pool is being too loud... this feels like something the designers of the space should have thought about prior to putting a social pool right next to massage rooms. There's a bunch of people there, even at whispering volume it will still be loud. Alternatively, they could always install more sound proofing or a sliding door between the massage rooms and the pool.. Subtracted another star for the multiple technical difficulties experienced by my guests and I during their referral program, and even regular bookings. I had to call, but they never pick up but luckily texting was an option. Also, not having Apple Pay on their website is a majorly annoying as the site itself doesn't seem so stable.. did not like manually putting in my credit card info here. Fun experience and pretty amenities, but probably wouldn't come back if not for a massage (which, I did not get but my friend loved hers), for $60 for the day pass I guess you get what you pay for?

Yelp
It was my first time at Bathhouse Spa. I think it's a good one time experience to have. You check in at the front and can book a number of services. I got a sports massage and Turkish body scrub. I started off my experience at the restaurant inside. I ordered the black humus and Wagyu steak along with a beer. The food was mediocre and over priced, however, convenient if you're spending hours there at the spa. They have three jacuzzi's, two ice baths, and an even bigger pool surrounded by a number of different steam-rooms and saunas. They have a "towel ceremony" in the larger Sauna, which includes a meditation and essential oils used throughout the ceremony. I love the concept, however, the spa felt extremely crowded. It was more of a social club vs. a relaxing spa. I'm sure it would be considered a great "pickup spot." The services were good- I enjoyed the Turkish scrub, especially if you've never had one before. Overall, great experience to have once, I will most probably not be returning. I prefer more quiet and relaxing spa experiences.

Yelp
I came with 2 friends since we needed a good spa day. The minute you walked in we were greeted and everyone that works here were really pleasant. The place is super clean and I really enjoyed how beautiful the locker room was. They had amazing showers and toiletries. However the locker room was the best part of the spa. I found the price a little steep ($85 for a day pass) since there is just one big room. The room had different temperature baths ranging from freezing to hot. Also, had different temperature saunas on the same floor. The towels they provide are tiny and after been there for about an hour I was bored. They don't have much for you to do unless you get an additional treatment. We did check out their restaurant/bar section which was a little like a school cafeteria. I got a chocolate dulce de leche cookie ($5) and it was delicious. I didn't mind the price since it was really good however I didn't appreciate the added $1 gratuity.

Yelp
Clean and refreshing! This calming experience is one of a kind in NYC and the best bathhouse I have ever been to. I have only participated in the circuit, however, it is extremely relaxing. Maybe a bit pricier, but worth the money. I have never had a bad experience

Yelp
It is a nice spa, relaxing treat. The rooms get really hot which can get a bit intense but I love it. The reason I'm giving 3 star not 4 is that they ask you to bring your own water bottle, and there's a wall fountain like in the gym. For a wellness spot, promoting health and relaxation, I think offering cucumber or lemon water is kinda basic. I understand they want to make money off water but just doesn't feel sincere for a spa/wellness facility.

Yelp
Staff are nice, massage was amazing, and facilities are very nice, sleek and modern. My drink was well made. Lockers are spacious and the shower was heavenly equipped with rain and body shower heads, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. What I had a problem with was the patrons. I get that this place is more social, but do you have to speak above an indoor voice? I shouldn't be able to hear your conversation all the way across the room. Even in the saunas, people were having loud conversations. And why do you leave your soggy used towels all over the couches and floor when there are many available hampers to throw them into and numbered hooks to hang? Yes, maybe staff should be more proactive about cleaning it up but we are all adults here and fully capable of cleaning up after ourselves. Women couldn't be bothered to throw out the hair they left on the sink after blow drying it. The icing on top was the amount of PDA all the couples were doing. I even saw one woman straddle her partner in one of the pools. I'd go back for the massage alone but people going here need to do better.

Yelp
This experience was incredibly disappointing. I had read previous reviews complaining about the crowding, but I was still shocked when I arrived. The place was so packed that instead of feeling relaxed, I left feeling a bit gross. What really surprised me was the complete lack of professionalism. Another guest was even conducting a video call in the locker room! When I complained to the front desk, she acted as if I was crazy for being uncomfortable. She told me that there was nothing they could do and suggested that I try to persuade the guest to stop filming. I won't be returning here!

Yelp
Bathhouse newly opened in January with baths, saunas, and treatments that you can book right in the Flatiron area, very convenient to the subway. Having been to many korean spas, I was overall impressed with the amenities, and would recommend it for a social detox day with your friends! Ambiance: Dark and futuristic. The architecture is amazing! It's a bit crowded and noisy; it felt like a public pool where everyone is chatting and having a blast with their friends. Great place to hang out and detox, but I would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet place to relax. But I love that it was all people in their 20s-30s here, and I enjoyed being able to talk freely with my friends too. It's just a different vibe than other spas. Everyone around me was respectful and made room in the pools and in the saunas for others. Staff: Very respectful, they handled everything well. Lots of staff to give you towels, direct you to where to go, and to clean the place regularly. Amenities: Overall happy, though they were running low on some stuff by the time we got there (2pm). Plenty of towels! And slippers, though they ran out of slippers after we got there (they were lagging behind on washing new ones). There were showers but not enough soap/shampoo at times. I wish there was soap/shampoo available for the showers in the co-ed areas. Love the number of saunas (3) and baths (both cold, warm, and hot), and the salt bath in the treatment area. The massage I got was amazing, very professional and relaxing!

Yelp
I came here with a few of my co workers.most say it's way bigger than the Brooklyn location.i loved the cold pools helps my pain a lot from my back surgery I had years ago.they also had a few pools and more.but there was one young man that standout from the rest of the workers there very professional and nice. He was there from the start to finish with me ask what size is my slippers and here a few fresh clean towels as well.but this kid wasn't like a regular worker he help out a few guest and co workers that was there.i asked him about the food there he said he tryed a few things there and told me what he think I would like. Guess what i did I give A to the kitchen cooks. And also for this young man named Ray this young man I see doing big things for bathhouse .once again I be back with a few new people as well. P.s Ray keep up the hard work it will pay off!

Yelp
Stepping off the N or R train at 10am, I knew I was in for a day of pure bliss at Bathhouse Flatiron. The friendly welcome from the staff set the tone for a truly relaxing experience. Descending the stairs, I was greeted by a smiling attendant offering two plush towels. Convenience was key, with touchscreen kiosks allowing me to seamlessly link my credit card to a bracelet for effortless in-house purchases. Bathhouse provided slippers . As you step foot into the baths I felt instantly transported to a world of tranquility. The variety of saunas, steam rooms, and pools was impressive. Whether you crave the dry heat of a sauna, the invigorating eucalyptus steam, or a dip in the cool plunge pool, Bathhouse offered something for every preference. Food was good too and decently priced . I didn't take photos of the baths or steam rooms tho . I left feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, already planning my return visit. This is more than just a bathhouse; it's a haven of relaxation in the heart of the city. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a moment of pampering and escape.

Yelp
Just an amazingly relaxing 4+ hours between multiple saunas (including one with a Sauna Master who dropped 3 different pomelo sized fragranced snowballs onto the rocks while fanning the attendees with a towel in the large room), steam room, a large 94 degree pool, 104 degree (x2) pools, a 45 degree & 50 degree pool to chillax in and a salt pool (the only pool I didn't try). They also have treatments (massage, scrubs, etc) and a restaurant that I didn't try either. The general spaces are soothingly low lit and the walls are generally black. The rates are day/time based. My day was a steal at $70. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Bathhouse Flatiron recently opened, so keep this in mind as I'm sure they are still figuring things out. The entrance is very nondescript with just a small sign with the name. I came in around 4:30 p.m., and there was a line to check in. You get your wristband, and you then head down the very dark stairs to the locker rooms. The spa is very sparse & minimalist, very reminiscent of the house Kanye West designed for Kim K. I liked the gray monastery design since it added to the serene environment. If you've been to the Brooklyn location, this one is so much bigger and spacious! They have 3 saunas, 1 steam room, 3 warm pools, and 2 cold pools. Even though it is a holiday, the place did not seem overly crowded. They have only been open for a few days, but they should really take better stock of the inventory since by the afternoon, they had run out of most of the menu items. My friend was there before me, and he said he enjoyed the soup and the beef skewer. The salad was very basic and plain. Unlike other spas I've been to where you get a wristband and can swipe it for payment automatically here, you need to first add the payment method before you can use the wristband to pay. This is an annoying extra step. You can't use your phone, which is normal in a place like this. There's also no connection unless you use their wifi. You get one towel before entering the locker room and the slides, but it would have been nice to have towels available by the saunas and pool area. You can only exit this place through the locker room. They should add some clear signage since the place is a bit like a maze. They had the Aufguss ritual experience just like in the Brooklyn location, and this was intense, but I enjoyed it. I absolutely loved the smart showers here! It was great to select the water temperature, and you can see just how much water you consume. They had hair dryers, hair ties, menstrual products, and mouthwash available. The shampoo and lotions were good quality. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would not be opposed to returning again.

Yelp
To everyone complaining that Bathhouse is too loud and social: bath houses are social and made for moving around and trying different things. Go to a more formal spa for the quiet vibe. I've been a big fan of Batthouse since they first opened in Williamsburg. The Flatiron location is even cooler and bigger with several saunas, pools, and cold plunges. The locker rooms are very nice and have all the things you need to shower and get ready. The showers have different shower head options (rain + body). If you haven't tried it before, do the Aufguss ceremony in the big sauna! Awesome music, essential oils, breath work and stretching. A very unique experience. If you want to avoid the crowds, don't go on the weekend. Their signature full body massage is SO good, I always feel like mush after. I've only eaten at their Williamsburg location and the food was great!

Yelp
I hope this is the right location, but I think it was because there was a Christmas market nearby when I went. Anyway, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It's very busy, so like a social club vibe. Just something to keep in mind. There are people everywhere! Lol but the services were out of this world. I had a body scrub, and it was my first one. It was such an amazing experience. Then I had a massage. My therapist's name was Charles. I was kind of nervous because I've never had a male masseuse but it was the best massage I've ever had in my life. Like I can't describe it any other way. If I ever go back, I would request him. Charles or bust lol I also liked that they have a bar that also serves dumplings. Yummy! This was perfect in between services. Thanks every one!

Yelp
Our experience at Bathhouse was amazing. We got a massage and I've never been so relaxed. It does get a bit crowded, but overall, still relaxing.

Yelp
I recently got into cold plunging and ice baths... was disappointed that only 2 locations of my gym (Equinox) offer this... saw an instagram ad for bathhouse and decided to try it out... and I had so much fun here!! Its more of a social experience so no gym... but didnt matter to me because I had been walking and traveling everywhere so i was sore AF... Everything was hurting and I needed some fun and some recovery!! They have 4 different sauna and i think 6 different pools. It's fairly newer so everything was clean, modern and great vibes. They have a breathing/meditation session every hour and that was an amazing experience ... guy makes the sauna SO HOT as if it wasnt hot enough already ... and watching people do the cold plunge is entertainment for me... never know what they are going to do!! Theres no cell phones allowed inside but I managed to sneak some photos (winky face)

Yelp
I think the Turks/Greeks/Romans were really into something with their bath houses. I went in without having done any research about the experience and I enjoyed it much more than I expected that I would. A couple thoughts: 1. I didn't enjoy how long check-in took. There were 3 hosts/hostesses getting people checked in at the front. It was a bit of a wait and then they gave their whole introduction which was all information that I didn't feel was necessary. 2. The only dressing room options are binary genders, so if you're coming with a mixed group or someone of the opposite gender, then you should take a moment to agree where you will meet because it's honestly really hard to find people with so many people, rooms, and dark lighting. In my group of 3, we lost each other multiple times. In my opinion, the worst part of the experience is how difficult it is to find people and having 2 gendered bathrooms is the most common cause of separation in my experience. 3. The showers are amazing. 4. The towels are low quality and harsh on the skin. Seems like something that would be worth investing in 5. Everyone who works there was very kind and helpful. 6. I want to go back during a weekday with a group of friends. It was busy on the weekend and that honestly made it pretty fun because it was more of a social experience. 7. I wish the pools were all labeled by temperature. There were 2 cold plunges and I honestly couldn't tell if they were different temperatures. It would be nice if everything was labeled. Overall, I l enjoyed the experience a lot more than I thought I would and I recommend the new Flatiron location.

Yelp
A year ago I would have given this place a major thumbs up. March I would have said that it's totally worth the trip. But it looks as if this spot had to make some choice so that made the menu flat and took away all of the amazing fresh options and opted for dumplings. All of the gluten free options were gone when I went today. And the crowd control simply wasn't there anymore. It's not what it used to be and that sucks.

Yelp
The experience was fantastic. I can't get the epic massage out of my mind. It felt like stepping into a sleek, futuristic spa in the heart of the city, despite the bustling atmosphere. They offered a variety of hot and cold pools, a steam room with intense steam, and three dry saunas. They also conducted a fascinating breathing exercise called "aufguss" in the hot sauna several times a day. We arrived late and stayed until closing time. We're definitely going back! Oh, and DeShawn & Drew's massages were phenomenal, the best we've ever had, and I get plenty of massages each year!

Yelp
It is a little expensive for a pass, but I will say that it is a very cool experience. The whole thing feels very bougie and relaxing, and all the pools, saunas, and locker rooms were well maintained and not too busy when we went on a weekend evening. We would definitely go more if the prices were a little lower, but either way would do it again.

Yelp
Saw an ad on instagram so decided to go and it was awesome. Good variety of sauna, steam room and cold plunge. Crowded because of the holiday but the staff did the best they could. Highlights were the meditative short classess in the sauna and the friendliness of the staff, especially Siami. Will be going again next time I'm in New York.

Yelp
This place is amazing I have been there once. But still remember how good the service was and the experience over all. My favorite was Aufguss sauna, meditation and aromatherapy that came along with it. Alonzo guided us very well and it made me so relaxed. I decided to stay for the second hour and did the cold tub right after. I slept really well that night. I would definitely recommend this place and try Aufguss experience it will help you relax very well.

Yelp
Best place to relax bar none. First of all I need to thank Jay and the Ukrainian man for great customer service. (I'm legally blind) they are a great help. The atmosphere here is so serene. Everyone minds their own business. Bounce around from one pool to another for best results. Go from sauna to cold plunge then steam room again. Go alone, go with a friend, let the magic happen. It's time you experience what your body needs. You deserve it. Very clean and the showers are amazing. They have; 98° Large pool 98° Large salt water pool 2 - 104° small pools 45° small pool 50° small pool 195° Sauna (Banya) 185° Dry sauna 130° Infrared sauna 120° Steam room. This place will remove any possible form of stress you may have. Come here! Relax! Sleep well that night.

Yelp
I'm surprised by all the higher ratings for Bathhouse! The downfall of this place is that it is soooo incredibly crowded - imagine spring break pool parties where everyone is packed like sardines. Most of the time you're sitting shoulder to shoulder with people in the pools and in the sauna rooms. I was so overwhelmed upon walking into the locker rooms and shocked when I got into the pool section. The pool section is also very club like - loud, dark and crowded. The cafe is also tiny with super overpriced food. Also the bathrooms were not well maintained, dirty, and out of toilet paper all the time. Overall super disappointing experience and not worth the high price tag. If you're looking for a relaxing experience, look elsewhere!

Yelp
Used to be absolutely in love with this place, charmed by its design, impressed by the services offered and their quality, but... things are quickly changing. This is no longer the place where you can relax and embrace calmness. Way too many inconsiderate visitors who make a ton of noise, get drunk, throw trash around, and have obnoxious conversations and behavior. This place was so sophisticated and sexy when they opened up. However, it is slowly but surely becoming more and more trashy and frustrating. I understand people can be very difficult and disrespectful, but I do expect the stuff to put a bit more effort into creating a relaxing environment and asking people to be mindful of how loud they talk or scream across a sauna/spa. I believe the management of the place can be much better. It's not cheap and everyone would like to enjoy themselves, not only selfish and self-centered visitors that don't consider others even for a moment. Didn't enjoy my last visit at all. It was a zoo. Loved my first visits and massages.

Incredibly life changing experience, especially via the transformative Aufguss ritual. Beautiful location, kind staff, if a bit busy.

Yelp
First and last time visiting this place. The staff is not very enthusiastic and do not explain much. There is no directional signage so you're wandering around, it's very dimly lit so you can barely read the signage, and the salt pool it tucked away in another room that I didn't know existed because staff didn't explain much and they don't answer emails in a timely fashion either. It is crowded and noisy. The day pass is not worth it! If you want to really relax this is not the place to go.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night with my fiancee to celebrate my birthday. Other reviews were helpful in managing expectations. In our experience, noise level and ambiance were okay (it wasn't quiet nor rowdy). We really enjoyed the dry sauna and cold plunge. Luckily, we were able to squeeze in a 30-minute couples massage, which brings me to the motivation for my review. Charles - you are a one a kind massage therapist! If you have a chance to book him for a massage, I highly recommend it! Overall, it was a great experience and I'd come back.

Yelp
Echoing what others said...the facilities here are fantastic: clean, relaxing, perfectly pleasant and attentive and helpful staff, and I had probably the best massage of my life here. Issue is it was really crowded. I recommend getting here early or off peak times. The crowd is mostly gen-z, many of whom can't sit alone with their thoughts and talked, loudly, everywhere you went. I got in at 11 and by 1pm there was simply nowhere to sit in any facility...pool, sauna, all packed. I would've paid more to have fewer people. And maybe some kind of guideline posted about using indoor voices.

Yelp
Don't add automatic 20% gratuity to someone picking up a bottle and checking it out from your counter themselves. Other reviewers have mentioned it. It is weird and a bad business practice.
