Where to Eat and Drink in Virginia Beach | Eater DC

"Local produce, meats, fish, and seafood shine at this “coastal Southern” seasonal restaurant with three Virginia Beach locations. During the summer, Bay Local serves hand-picked crab from Virginia’s Eastern Shore and strawberries from nearby Pungo, and collard greens and kale from nearby farmers come winter. Crowd-pleasing orders include fried chicken sandwiches, grilled oyster melts, and breakfast burritos. Vintage light fixtures and reclaimed barn wood contribute to a lived-in look." - Adele Chapin

Service was good but I think the food was just mid. We had the crab cake balls (Banging Balls), Light Tower Omelette, "The Hangover", and the Chicken & Waffles. In short, the steak was super salty, the omelette was a little bland, but the Chicken & Waffles were decent. Hash was good but the tater tots were pretty standard. The Hangover dish was a classic American style breakfast platter with toast, pancakes, steak, etc. The items apart from the steak were standard. Nothing special. The steak was cooked decently but very salty for some reason. The Light Tower Omelette was cooked well - shrimp was cooked and not chewy, small amount of crab, but the dish itself tasted bland. It seemed like it could use the salt from the steak. Some parts had cheese which helped to bring flavor but the cheese was sparse. The Chicken & waffles were the best item but still not extremely good or the best I had. Breading had a good amount of seasoning & black pepper and you could taste it. Chicken was cooked well, and the crust is slightly crunchy. Waffles themselves were light but crunchy. Hash was great with the mixed peppers and onions - good amount of flavor and good texture from the potato. Crab cake balls were nice and slightly on the salty side but that's because of the taste of Old Bay. It was good but I don't think it was worth the price. I've had better up in Maryland. Service was very quick and the atmosphere is very inviting. A lot of shiny and decorative fixtures that make this a great brunch spot. Outdoor seating was very inviting as well with the sunlight and abundance of greenery. It could have been the dishes that we got that weren't the best, but I don't think that I would come back here again.

Always love coming here! It’s a bit cold on a not busy morning bring a sweater. The staff are inviting and helpful. The food portions are large and satisfying. If you like alcohol the mimosas are delicious as well as many other seasonal drinks.

Google
Wonderful brunch/lunch spot! Had the OG eggs Benedict and the crab cake. Delicious! The Bloody Mary’s are amazing and the staff is out of this world. By far the best place we have eaten since we arrived, and we have eaten in some good places. Definitely adding this to our list of faves. Oh and the key lime pie-do not miss.

Google
I loved this quirky eatery! The decor was so interesting and fun! The food was delicious and great drinks! The drink specials for the season were amazing! Try the pumpkin beer with cinnamon-sugar rim!

Google
Food and drinks are always top notch. Had the chicken and French Toast and pear mimosa. Came hungover and left with my belly full with plenty of leftovers for later. Way easier mid week to get a seat than the weekends. Love that.

Google
This place does not disappoint with BIG portions! We’re talking 8” pancakes. We’ve always enjoyed coming here every time we visit Virginia Beach, and will continue to do so! Menu has a very good variety from typical breakfast plates to more healthy salads and somewhere in between. Tip: plates can easily be shared by two people. You can see almost everyone leaving with a doggy bag! Add it to your must-visit restaurants in VA Beach!

Tucked into an unassuming strip mall, Bay Local is the definition of “don’t judge a book by its cover.” From the outside, it may not catch your eye—but step inside, and you’re greeted with stunning stained glass accents, a laid-back beachy vibe, and a cozy-yet-elevated atmosphere that feels instantly welcoming. We were seated right away, and the space features a large, inviting bar that clearly caters to a lively brunch crowd—perfect for a boozy weekend gathering with friends. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, which unfortunately came out a little dry and underwhelming. The potato salad didn’t add much to the plate either—nothing I’d rush back to order. But let’s talk about the pancakes. Hands-down the star of the meal. Fluffy, flavorful, and absolutely massive—definitely made for sharing. If you go, consider skipping the savory and going all in on the sweet. One final note: Bay Local includes an automatic 18% gratuity, which is clearly noted on the menu. It’s a nice touch that takes the guesswork out of tipping.

Google
Never been here, but this establishment is unique with such wonderful foods of all kinds. What tops it off are the hard working hostesses serving non stop. What a wonderful place to along with great food. You all deserve 5 star service even though this restaurant is not a resort level. Thank you all including the kitchen for all you do. Michael

Yelp
Thursday 11/6/25 Back in Virginia Beach, so I gotta make a stop at the best brunch in the area. I made a takeout order and got the candied pecan French toast bites $16 and crab cake eggs benne (on English muffin) w/ home fries $19. (Candied pecan French toast) - This is a staple of mine as I'm going to get it EVERY TIME I visit. - It's crazy how this doesn't need ANY SYRUP at all, and I believe the bread is French bread, which is unique. (Crab cake benne w/ homefries) - Before trying this spot, I didn't really dabble in eggs Benedict, but they got me out of my comfort zone. - I had the fried chicken one last time, and this crab cake one is definitely better, making me realize that I gotta get more seafood brunch dishes. - The home fries made the dish even better. They were perfectly executed as they were seasoned well and had vegetables cooked with them. Another great meal in the books, I'll be back next visit! -- For more FOOD content, check out @issa.cheatday on TikTok & Instagram!

Yelp
Five stars for the most delicious, hearty, and beautiful breakfast I have had in a minute. Shout out to Victoria D for selecting this spot for breakfast upon my arrival in VA. I was starved after an early flight and Bay Local was close to my hotel and more importantly a fabulous find. The menu has a lot to offer but what caught my eye was the One Love plate. It comes with three eggs any style, arugula salad, half grilled avocado, choice of bacon, sausage, or turkey bacon, home fries or Parmesan tots. You have a choice of tortillas or toast, and as my lovely server (I believe her name was Sara) suggested the tortillas. I do believe after my experience with this breakfast that the tortillas are the ONLY option because you can make your own breakfast tacos and they are delicious!! I also got a side of cheese grits because I love grits and can never turn down the opportunity to eat them. Overall, I thought this spot had really great home-cooked and friendly vibes with awesome pricing. I have to come back to enjoy their cocktails which seem very fun and over the top.

Yelp
Bay Local is one of those spots that instantly puts you in a good mood the moment you walk in. The ambiance is warm, laid-back, and stylish. Which is the perfect spot for catching up with friends, grabbing a bite, or just treating yourself! From the cool decor to the upbeat vibe, I felt right at home from the start. My friend and I started our visit with espresso martinis. I love that they give you the option to have it creamy or black! She went for creamy, and I went for black. Both were was the perfect blend: rich, smooth, and not too sweet. Such an awesome way to kickstart my birthday brunch. For my meal, I tried the chicken Caesar wrap, which honestly blew me away. Their house-made Caesar dressing stands out. It's creamy, flavorful, and coats the chicken just right. I love a good chicken Caesar wrap. What put it over the top though, were the Parmesan tots on the side. Crunchy and addictive on their own, but a MUST when paired with Bay Local's house-made hot sauce. Seriously, don't skip the hot sauce. It's the perfect combo of tangy and spicy, and takes the tots to a whole new level. My friend ordered the avocado toast and gave it rave reviews. It was loaded with fresh toppings, presented beautifully, and tasted as good as it looked. We both left our plates wiped clean. I was super impressed by how diverse and creative their menu is. Whether you're in the mood for brunch classics, inventive sandwiches, lighter fare, or cocktails, there's something for everyone. So many tempting options, I'll definitely be coming back to try more. Lastly, the service was top tier. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. Highly recommend Bay Local for anyone looking for great food, drinks, and an unforgettable atmosphere!

Yelp
First time here and had a great experience! Food was great! Loved the hummus/chicken salad appetizer plate with the pita and fruit! Very tasty! Husband enjoyed his breakfast burrito and the crispy tots! Also enjoyed the mini key lime tart! Service was kind and pretty quick. Inside is beautifully decorated! Overall chill vibe.

Yelp
Bay Local is always phenomenal! Today we didn't have a wait, we went in and were seated immediately. Totally would've ordered everything on the menu if we had the room in our stomachs lol! The things we ordered off the menu were the crab dip with pita chips & bangin balls as appetizers; crab cake Benedict with garlic Parmesan tators & pecan French toast bites with a side of sausage links & eggs with cheese. I was full off of banging balls & crab dip, but I'm greedy and still wanted to eat the Bennie. I took my leftovers home and they were still amazing when it was time for breakfast the next day. Everything was fresh, tasty, seasoned just right &!cooked to perfection. If you've never been to Bay Local, it is a MUST every time you're in the beach area. Plus they refresh the menu often with seasonal items so there's always something new to try.

Yelp
I got the tuna Benedict ($21) with garlic parm tots (+$1). It came out in about 20 minutes and it was amazing! The tuna was cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned great. The eggs were poached perfectly and that hollandaise sauce was just amazing! Staff was really friendly. This place had a really nice vibe to it during the brunch hour. Overall a fantastic experience with amazing food! Food(50%): 9.0 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 7.0 Overall: 8.1/10

Yelp
Our go to brunch spot! Took my family here and my mom says she's counting down the days to come back! The crab dip is, without a doubt, my personal favorite here in VB. We usually get crab dip at every restaurant, but Bay Local does it best (especially with the pita bread!). Took my gluten free friend here, and the staff was SO accommodating. They even had a special menu for gluten free customers. The vibes here are great, it can get a little loud which is fine with us, but some customers might prefer sitting outside! Always the best brunch!

Yelp
Beautiful location with a covered patio section right on the water. Lots of boaters going by. We started with calamari which were the rings and they were huge. The breading was nice. They do a nice job frying here. It was served with several sauces. I had the soft shell crab dinner with cole slaw and fries. The slaw was finely shredded except at the top which was a little coarser. The slaw dressing was poured over the whole thing. Very tasty and unique. My son in law asked for a medium rare burger which came out WELL DONE! He didn't say anything and didn't finish it. The server should have said something. As a former server I would have noticed and asked him. This is why 3 stars. My daughter had fried oysters and looked delicious.

Yelp
Sat outside with our doggo. Service. Was good, the restaurant was slammed with people on Sunday morning. The food was very good and didn't sit in the window waiting to come out. I had the chicken and waffles, the wife had the light tower crab and shrimp omelette and the boy had the shrimp and grits. All were solid choices of particular note were the garlic parm tater tot. Simple basic but really good. The jalepeno cucumber margarita was also on point. Highly recommend this spot just try to miss the big rushes at times we heard wait times up to an hour. Thank you
google avatar

Yelp
This is a well known restaurant. Waiters are very knowledgeable about the menu and recommends different items. If you want to alter your selection, they try to comply. The restaurant is a little loud. That is because the restaurant doesn't have space like the other locations. The food is very good
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
This place is worth the hype! The staff, food, vibes are all on point. Our waitress sat in the booth right next to me, took our order, and chatted up with us like we were all long lost friends! Absolutely loved how attentive all the staff was! Now for the food, the Parmesan tots and waffle were my favs. Note- came in on a weekday morning and parking was a little tight so can't imagine the weekend. In any case, can't wait to come back! Also, they have a military discount for active duty members.

Yelp
Make sure you come hungry. Great spot for family parties of six ppl or less, and bar seating available. Very friendly staff, enjoyable atmosphere inside and small outdoor seating option. Food is mixture of classic dishes and local cuisine.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was amazing. The proximity to the beach, the service, the food, the atmosphere, the music (choice & sound level). Wish we lived nearby! The lettuce wraps were outstanding! Very different than I've had before. Fresh & delicious. Husband loved his breakfast burrito too. And, there were quite a few fighter jets coming & going that could been seen from our seat.

Yelp
Food was great and portions are huge. Staff is very attentive. You really could share one meal. Highly recommend. The front door was hard to find at first but this will be one of my favs to visit!!!

Yelp
They have a great brunch menu, love coming here very often for breakfast. I will say this is the best location out of all their locations in the area. The service here is definitely the best. Ambiance is very lively and chill and warm. Very comfortable to eat here always and always feel welcomed.

Yelp
The Bay local on Laskin road in Virginia Beach is my all time favorite brunch location! Bay local has three restaurants in Virginia Beach and the Laskin road location is a step above the rest! I visited recently on a snow day and had an amazing experience. Their menu offers a variety of local favorites and the food quality is worth the trip. The service we received at the bar area of the restaurant was perfect. The restaurant decor is very unique with stain glass murals adding to the experience. Bay local can get busy on peak weekend brunch times so try it on a weekday if you have the opportunity!
google avatar

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
I thought the same entire meal was delicious. When it comes to breakfast, I like your basic American with real home fries. The menu was a little over whelming at first but I loved the decor and vibe, reminded me of a NOLA cafe. I got the big country sandwich and basically asked for the biscuit on the side so I could dip that in the gravy and added arugula and peppers to my eggs along with a side of chipotle aioli. Little bit of both worlds. The fried chicken was fabulous and probably the star of the meal, the breading was seasoned well and flaky. I'd go back for that alone. The chipotle aioli wasn't overly spicy, but it had a fine flavor. Mimosa was balanced... the "crushes" were ok. I'm should have looked at the menu better to get a bottle and half with OJ to split to make it cheaper. Great place! Wish I was local.
google avatar

Kerry M.

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere. My new favorite place. Doesn't look like much on outside but it is amazing I promise!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a solid brunch spot. Food was very good but the drinks could have been stronger. EXCELLENT, friendly service. It's in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. If you decide to walk from one of the oceanfront hotels, it's definitely doable (map it first) and there are cute stores along the way.

Yelp
I've been going to Bay Local Eatery for years and I'm just now getting around to writing a yelp review. This review is hard for me because I want to love it but it's not quite there for me. The food is good but it's not great. Everything here is a solid 'B' which is above average. The setting is nice and the staff are awesome. Bay Local almost always has a wait. People are lined up to eat here. I wonder why that is. Probably because this place has 4.5 stars on yelp despite not being claimed on Yelp. Go figure. Every time we dine here, we leave full and happy. I'm confident you'll also leave well fed and happy.
google avatar

Yelp
A true local establishment with the hospitality to match! As out of towners, we came here based on the reviews. We were not disappointed!!!! We were fortunate to have Joanna as our server and she was cheerful and on point. How often do you get a drink refill without asking and at the perfect time? Along with a to go refill! Ambience was true to their vibe and gave you that fun beach feel! Our food was exceptional! My partner said it was THE best grilled cheese ever. A few added veggies and soft melt in your mouth cheese with crispy bread. The crunchy potato wedges were seasoned beautifully! The Chick's Beach Omelette was one of the best veggie omelette La I have ever had! It was 80% veggie and the right amount of cheese! And let's not forget the amazing Parmesan Garlic Tots. We were so pleased, that before heading out of town we will hit the Shore Avenue Location! Thank you Bay Local Eatery for a great experience!

Yelp
This is a great place yo have a girls brunch. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and tolerated us loud girls having fun. I had the fried chicken and waffles which were very good and all the other food we had looks d tasted great. The bloody mary I had was great and we also got the big jumbo sorbet momosa which comes with 2 bottles of champagne in it. That was just fun! Can't wait to go back and try out some other things.
google avatar

Yelp
After being suggested many times of this place, my friend and I decided to go for brunch. It wasn't as busy as I expected it to be granted it is the off season right now. We were sat and were given water right away. After some time to consider what to order, we ordered the big country and light tower with tots. Food didn't take too long and was very flavorful and filling. The portions are very filling especially for the price you're paying. The decor is seasonal right now and is so fitting, and if you love merch they have shirts you can purchase! Overall, highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Amazing food, large menu and great service. Loved the decor inside. A relaxing environment to dine, we picked this spot on our way home from a weekend at the beach.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my gosh! The shrimp and grits add scallops....whaaaaaaat!?!? So good! The portion size was ginormous! Definitely enough for 2. We were so full. Also a good cup of joe! We will definitely come back the next time we are in VA Beach.

Yelp
The early bird gets the worm. My wife and I woke up early (for us ) on Sunday and came here for brunch around 9am. We waited 20 minutes for a table of 2 which was much better than the hour and a half wait when I came here with my parents in July. We ate inside and it was pretty loud but tolerable. We were seated in a booth which my wife enjoyed. Our server Julie was very cognizant of my wife's dairy allergy and other requests. She made sure she was clear on the severity of my wife's dairy allery and made recommendations accordingly. There were so many options to choose from and being this was my first time I asked her what she recommended. Her suggestion of the chicken and waffles hit! The fried chicken was crispy and very well seasoned. I could taste the different herbs used in the batter. I also appreciated the attention of detail and how the food was plated. The rosemary sprig garnish really amplified the presentation for me. The food came out quickly and I appreciated that they brought out a glass bottle of water so that I could refill my water as I pleased. I hate when it's super busy and I have to wait 20 minutes to get a water refilled. I was also impressed by the durability of the plastic cups that they use. I overall had a great experience and the only thing that kept my experience from being 5-stars is that I wish I had been made aware that there was a $1.50 charge for cheese on my eggs and an automatic 18% gratuity. I'm confident Julie would've likely taken the charge off for the cheese but had I known it was going to cost that much I wouldn't have asked for it. Overall my exxperience was good and I would eat here again.
google avatar

Tami H.

Yelp
We waited 20-25 minutes to be seated. When I got my food I wasn't impressed it lacked flavor and the cucumber and onion side salad I had to giggle as the just slides and onion and layer some cut up cucumbers on top not seasoning or vinaigrette nothing and the shrimp on my lettuce wrap was steamed with no seasoning yea it came with a vinaigrette which had no wow. The staff were amazing.
google avatar

Morgan D.

Yelp
We were visiting VA Vintage in the parking lot and saw a Bay Local location adjacent. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with costal decor. The staff were kind and attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The crab cake was one of the best I've had, and the salmon Bennie had generous amounts of smoked salmon on top. The tater tots are crispy and so good! My friend said it was the best chicken sandwich, as it was well seasoned with a great aioli. Go visit!

Yelp
I decide to revist this spot on a random weekend. Weekends are pretty busy but it was just two of us so we did not have to wait long. We had the option of choosing if we wanted indoor seating or outdoor, We went with the outdoor seating since it was the first available. The outside seating is nice we enjoyed the scenery as well as was warm by the warmers that was surrounded on the outside deck. I order the big country which is a breakfast sandwhich with eggs, bacon, fried chicken breast. It was pretty good. Still is my favorite brunch spot.
google avatar

Meling S.

Yelp
Beautiful place too to eat. Loved the selections on the menu. Kind staff. Spouse enjoyed the crab cake benedict and I enjoyed pancakes eggs and sausage. I am hoping that the next time I visit the town I can try many more selections.

Yelp
katie p, joann, cam, jaryn were AMAZING, you can tell that they really communicate well and they work so smoothly to get everyone dealt with. they were all super attentive in one way or another throughout our visit here. shoutout to the kitchen staff- yall ROCK, the food is amazing. katie p made our drinks and they came out delicious. I had to stop halfway through my meal to write this because it was just such a good experience and well worth our time. this has been my first time at this bay local location and it has been my FAVORITE experience at a bay local. 10/10 hands down. thank yall for all that you do, we will be coming back!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Christina provided excellent service. The food was very good and we didn't have to wait a long time for it. I ordered the Cinnabon Pecan Waffles and my husband ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffles. We were both really hungry when we came in for Sunday brunch (at 10AM) and the portions of our orders were perfect. Really great portion sizes for those meals. The decor was an eclectic mix of tin ceiling tiles, old fashioned lamps and lanterns, stained glass, and animal trophies. I liked it all except for the animal trophies but I wasn't too bothered by them, and they may have been fake (couldn't tell). I have a dairy allergy and was able to take off the ice cream and whip cream from my meal when initially ordering. I will say though that if you have a severe dairy allergy or are vegan your options are slim to none for meal options here. Our meals came out to around 48 total and we didn't order drinks or anything extra, except for a side of cheddar cheese for my husband that we later learned was 1.50 extra. It was rather expensive but the food is good and you get good portions. We'd come back here again.
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
Bay Local is definitely a local favorite! The food is fresh and everything I've had from here has been YUM! I had the oyster Po Boy wrap and the right amount of spice with filling was perfect! I had the Parmesan tater tots to go with it and it complimented each other. Chicken and waffle was also filing. The chicken used was a thigh and it was juicy. The waffle's batter was very good as well. It gets very busy and the wait can be long in the mornings/brunch time but they give you a pager so you can wait in your car or go couple of doors down to the Heritage store LOL!!
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
The food is amazing! They have big portions so you can save some to eat later. The service is great, they all work together to make sure all the tables are cared for.
google avatar

Yelp
Always amazing food, service and comfortable seating no matter where you're sat. Not pictured but my dad got the french toast and it was seriously making me drool. Their breakfast is consistently delicious, this is always my first choice to visit for any birthday or holiday.

Yelp
This place was amazing. I mean, the food portion, the freshness of the ingredients, the waitstaff, and it had this unbelievably creative menu. Whether you have gourmet taste or whether you just had down-home southern things, this place is freaking amazing. It's like you come in for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Right? And never visit another restaurant in all of Virginia Beach, and you would be A-OK.
google avatar

Marquis H.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! You literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is matches the food quality. Servers act as a team I have never had to ask or want for anything as a customer! Prices are also very reasonable.
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
Loved the vibe of this place! Unsuspecting on the outside, gorgeous on the inside! Everyone was so friendly and inviting, the drinks were delicious, and the food was very good! We will be back for sure! :)

Gina M.

Yelp
Have liked in the past, but not today. There is a built in gratuity, which I hate. We were actually going to give our waitress a low tip for sub par service, but the built in tip defeated. I asked for my bagel to be extra toasted, and it came without being toasted at all. She barely checked back with us, and the place was not even busy, so no excuse. I have been before, and I remember liking it, so maybe just a bad day and not so great waitress. Just a ho hum experience. Won't go back, so many other good choices in Virginia Beach.
google avatar

Katie T.

Yelp
This first visit to Bay Local didn't really impress. I can tell they cater to the boozy crowd, which I always find to be a façade for how the rest of the experience could go. We ordered the crab balls to start and they were absolutely smothered in cheese and bacon bits, something that didn't add to the flavor at all. An aioli on top of these would go a long way. I got a burger which I ordered medium well and it came out more charred and overdone than your buns after a day with no sunscreen on the beach. The tots were pretty good though. My husband said his French toast, while a nice portion, didn't have much flavor except with syrup on them. He got a burger to go and had the same evaluation as I did, because he ordered it the same way. While the service was good (we sat at the bar, because even on a Monday the place was slammed) we didn't appreciate the mandatory 18% gratuity added to the bill. This, on top of the 12% entertainment tax, is just robbery. Would I come again? Maybe.

Yelp
Still haven't found a bad thing to eat - we went oyster heavy meals this time. Rockefeller filling was light and delicious. Oysters were large and lightly bread, perfect crisp but not heavily breaded or over cooked. We could not pass up tater tots so we got an order of tot-chos- don't sleep on these! Service was super quick and we were surprised to be seated with no wait on a Saturday mid morning.

Yelp
Amazing menu and wonderful staff- what more could one ask for! Spouse praised his Bloody Mary and veggie eggs Benedict.. Staff was friendly and attentive and I enjoyed watching them work cooperatively tending bar, serving, busing tables. Nice atmosphere. Only quibble would be that I am a maple syrup snob and wish they could offer the real stuff even for a surcharge! I'll just take my own the next time so I can try some of their French toast or pancakes or waffles!

Yelp
Great food and service. We ordered an eggs Benedict (salmon) and 2 eggs/meat breakfasts. Would definitely go again. The atmosphere is so cute and we had plenty of room.

Yelp
Bay Local....more like local bae, am I right?!? This place was packed and we waited an hour to get seated for two, which is cray, but they say 'save the best for last' and as the last place we ate at VA beach, it was the best. We got the "Bay Local" Benedict and it came with fried oysters topped with their signature Rockefeller mix, applewood smoked bacon and parmesan. Just Everything tasted great. The flavor of the oyster was noticeable in a good way. Portion was solid, and my orange crush elevated the meal greatly. Really nice local decor that makes it feel like a beach town and fine service. Plenty of parking too. Great last day meal. #oyster #orangecrush #rockefeller #foodie #beachfood #va #vabeach

Yelp
Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my personal opinion and my personal opinions alone, so with that being said let's go!!.. I have visited this establishment a number of times (at least twice to my knowledge) and I haven't been disappointed yet! The food hasn't let me down in any way, as a matter of fact they continue to wow me with the menu and my food choices! I had the crab balls (not pictured) as a appetizer then I went with the chicken and waffle (pictured below)! I was pleasantly impressed with my food and I plan on returning again when I'm in the area...

Yelp
What a grand brunch experience. Just a quick tip: This place is VERY popular on the weekends for brunch, so there might be a bit of a wait for a table or a spot at the bar. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not take reservations at this time, but, I think we waited about 30 minutes for a table. First, Bay Local Eatery has a pretty extensive brunch menu so there is a little of something for everyone. I will say that it was pretty hard to decide what to eat. *In my opinion, that is a good problem to have.* For my dining pleasure, I went with the Bay Local, which was Eggs Benedict with fried oysters and bacon. Overall, I thought the dish was very delicious, and I would not change a thing. While I forgot what the other folks at our table ordered, I do not recall any complaints or issues with the food. The service was very exceptional. I do not remember having to wait for anything because our waitress constantly checked in to make sure things were going well. Actually, I was kind of surprised (in a good way) by the constant checking-in because the restaurant was pretty packed. Compared to other brunch spots in the area, I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. In conclusion, I cannot wait to try more things from Bay Local Eatery.

Yelp
Usually has a wait. You have to join the waitlist in person. Plates are pretty big portions, menu has a variety of seafood options, cocktails are very original recipes to include a HUGE size mimosa. Staff is always so friendly, I will say they definitely earn their 20% included gratuity. Music is at an average volume, not inappropriate and good selection.

Yelp
Tip added by restaurant.... We were a party of two. This one two star review is due to a business practice. Our check had an 18% tip included and additional tip was optional. This practice was also voiced by the server when the check arrived. I tip well, however I believe tip level should be choose of the customer. Having it pre-populated, with no path presented to me to remove it is the reason I wouldn't return. I was informed by the server to select "no tip" if I wish to add no additional amount to the 18%. She was a very good server, it's just the principal...
