The 10 Best Breweries In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Meet the IPA king of Nashville: Bearded Iris Brewing. Named after Tennessee’s state flower, Bearded Iris serves up heavenly hops from their original spot in Germantown and their much cozier location in West Nashville. Homestyle, their fruity and aromatic flagship, is arguably the best draft IPA in the city and tastes great with a comforting bowl of ramen, courtesy of their in-house partnership with Black Dynasty. Their Sylvan Supply spot also has an impressive small-batch beer program, where they rotate experimental and limited brews every couple of weeks and serve them directly from the small tanks stacked behind the bar. We love the super herbal, wet-hopped DIPA and the Dead Is Better, a Bushwacker-inspired imperial stout made with cacao nibs, coconut, hazelnut, and coffee." - adam sloan

NOLA’s Turkey and the Wolf to Pop Up at Barrel Proof | Eater Nashville

"Recently tapped by Atlanta-based marketing veteran Craig Stroud and craft beer aficionado Ale Sharpton to create a limited-edition brew for Ale Max, Bearded Iris Brewing produced a hazy IPA inspired by the Air Max 1 sneaker that will be available for purchase at an event at the brewery’s home base in Sylvan Supply on Saturday, March 23 starting at 4 p.m." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Google
Cool atmosphere and great combination of Bearded Iris beer with Black Dynasty Ramen for food. Arguably the best drink and food combo we've had in Nashville . Focusing on the Bearded Iris , I had the Delightful Stranger Pilsner which was very smooth and drinkable. My wife had the strawberry Chocolate Milk Stout. She loved. The real winner here and such a lost art was the overall customer service and friendliness of the bartender and other folks associated with Bearded Iris. Personable but not overly so where it is so fake. Just honest , efficient service. Very much appreciated and kudos to the team over there.

Google
Great selection of beers from lager styles to IPAs to sours. They also have a solid ramen menu you can order from right from the table. The bar was busy but still an incredible time. Bar tenders were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about their beers on tap and togo. I'll absolutely be back when in Nashville again.

Google
Bearded Iris makes some really great beers. In my subjective opinion they make some of the best in nashville. The Sylvan supply location in west nashville is totally a fun place with comfortable seating and plenty of parking. I’m only giving 4 out of 5 stars because the beers are a bit pricey for what you get. The beers are served in a 16oz beautiful glass, in which you only get about 12oz of beer due to the 2 fingers of head. I’m not complaining, everyone likes head… right?

Google
Black Dynasty secret ramen spot had some delicious ramen! This is located inside or the Bearded Iris location in Sylvan Park. I got the Shoyu Chintan ramen with extra pieces of sliced chicken thighs. The broth had such a rich robust flavor. It was absolutely delicious! The portion size was plenty for me so I have enough for tomorrow. The only thing is the ordering process. All drink orders had to be made at the bar, while the food was ordered via QR Code at the table. Having to get up and go to the bar to order a Coca-Cola was a bit annoying and pricey at $4 a can. Based on the prices I can't honestly give this location a 5 star review. But other than that I would go back to try some of the other menu items. The food was definitely top notch.

Google
This place has quickly become our fav brewery since moving to the area. Very cool atmosphere/design that isn’t your typical brewery feel, co-located with an amazing ramen restaurant, and the staff are always the best! Extra points for having my favorite wallpaper ever in the bathrooms.

Google
Cool taproom with a chill vibe, extensive ramen selection and limited, yet awesome beer selection. Don't let that detere you, add the beer and atmosphere is great.

Google
Nashville’s best brewery. Period. Germantown or Charlotte Pike, it makes no difference. You are drinking some of the best beer in the entire United States of America! Go there now!

Yelp
This place was so cool! It was a Saturday afternoon. I was invited from some friends from out of town and wondered why I had never gone myself. The dj played great tunes. The bartenders were quick and friendly. If you like Raman, please try. We aren't huge fans but everyone who loves it raves about it being some of the best. Either way, the beers were great and they had some amazing other options as well. They'll see me again and often.

Yelp
Traveling for work and I stopped by for a beer. I had fantastic service at the bar by Gracie who greeted each customer with enthusiasm. The ramen smelled delicious so even after eating dinner I grabbed some to go. Highly recommend stopping by and checking it out.

Yelp
We live in Atlanta. Every time we are in town, we make a point to stop at this location because of the ramen. It makes for incredible beer pairings. This last visit was great. Two bowls of ramen and excellent beer. At times, you can seat your self. At other times the brewery will manage the flow and seating. All orders are placed at the bar. You can order half pours so that you can try more beer at one time. They do limit how much you can order at one time. There is plenty of parking. Put this brewery at the top of your list. And come hungry.

Yelp
Brewery with a "secret ramen" restaurant inside? I'm sold. The ramen here is delicious. I ordered the hellfire ramen that was served with the chili crisp on the side (I used about half and it was perfectly spicy without being over the top hot). House made noodles and a savory balanced broth, not too salty, with thin sliced pork and great flavor. Paired extremely well with the jasmine lager at Bearded Iris. I then ordered the chocolate Negroni for dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed my drinking and dining experience with friendly staff, repeat customers, and cool vibes.

Yelp
You can find this location of Bearded Iris Brewing at 4101 Charlotte Ave Ste 40, Nashville, TN 37209 in Sylvan Park - it's actually built into the old Sylvan Supply (warehouse I think). There's a lot of parking around the buildings but your best bet on busy nights is to park in the big lot behind Sylvan Supply. This is a pretty special location of Bearded Iris with a great intimate feel - it is a bit noisy but you'll feel right at home - it's almost bohemian with the soft glow of lighted signs and wood treatments behind the bar. The really amazing thing about this location is the Secret Ramen window at one end - you scan a QR code to view the menu and pay in-app. What gets delivered is an amazing bowl of Nashville-style ramen, combining local ingredients (like smoked pork and collard greens) with a well executed broth. I had the Spicy Tonkatsu and whatever pepper they had in there was pretty deadly - beware the seeds, they took my breath away. I tried a few beers while there: * Dot & Dash Double IPA 3.9/5 - Fairly bright NEIPA with hazy body, notes of stone fruit and citrus, finishes a bit harsh and green. * Brightline Fruited Sour 4/5 - Very tart, big raspberry notes with a touch of sweetness on the finish. * Hollywood Villain 4.3/5 Imperial Stout - Quite tasty thick bodied pastry stout with notes of sweet creamy chocolate and nice barrel notes, finishes slightly boozy, sweet marshmallow and full. * Know It All Imperial NEIPA 4.1/5 - Quite a slammable Double NEIPA with creamy slight tart and sweet citrus body, notes of lime and peach, somewhat floral hoppy finish. * Fake Hate Imperial NEIPA 4.4/5 - Quite a tasty Imperial NEIPA with big citrus and sweet tropical notes in a orange juicy body, well balanced hoppy finish with low bitterness. We sat at the bar and the tenders were very attentive. In all, great brewery and top notch beers and ramen!

Yelp
We showed up late on a Monday, and unfortunately the Ramen spot was closed. Mike was super sweet and not only talked beer and bartending and life with us, but served us some incredible beer! We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Docking 2 stars 1 for the rude bartender 1 for the smell - I know they serve Ramen but jeez. Beer was fine- if you don't already know about the beer you get like one question. Love the patio area.

Yelp
Great beer, friendly service and nice vibe! I tried their lime lager and it was delicious!

Yelp
Bearded Iris recently opened out on the west side in the new Sylvan Supply location. You'll be thrilled to know that there's a huge parking lot and plenty of eateries nearby, including an Otaku Ramen, Radish Kitchen, and several restaurants across the street as well. Bearded Iris has so many beers on tap, and for those who might want to try something else, they have occassional ciders and seltzers as well. There's definitely something for everyone if you're entertaining a group. The last time we came here, we decided to sit outside on the patio seating. They have cafe style chairs and round tables as well as larger rectangular tables and benches lining the side, so there's a seating arrangement for any size party. Inside, there's bar seating, booth seating, and tables. The name of the game for Bearded Iris seems to be flexibility. The atmosphere feels luxurious yet relaxed. You are allowed to bring outside food as well (at least onto the patio), so you're in for a great time with awesome company.

Yelp
Fun staff, great beer selection. We did not try the food but it looked delicious and the cook definitely took pride in what he was doing. The vibe was casual, fun, and a bit hipster. A cool little spot to stop in for a few good craft beers!

Yelp
Bearded Iris home style IPA is one of my favorite beers! I've been wanting to visit this location for a while. I knew there was a ramen spot inside the brewery, but I thought it was a "secret" so I was expecting it to be small and tucked away. It actually feels like the whole inside is the ramen spot but they also have a bar that serves beer. Ramen has such a strong salty smell that kind of takes over the whole place. I didn't come for ramen but the beer was great as always! Next time I would probably sit outside or go to the Germantown location.

Yelp
Brewery is a great place to have a beer. Indoor and outdoor seating is comfortable. All of the beer is reasonably priced and very good. Had the Dunkel and a Double IPA and both I would recommend. The staff was very friendly. A very good place for a beer.

Yelp
Bearded Iris was highly recommended through reviews on various platforms. My wife loves IPA's so I wanted to bring her. The server was great and answered questions. For me, the beer was good but not great. I don't drink a whole lot anymore so I wasn't able to try everything I wanted to. There was plenty of seating and we chose to sit in a round booth and offered to let others sit with us as seating started to max out. My main complaint would really be that parking is limited to a pay lot. The first two hours were free so we didn't get charged. The inside was nice and the atmosphere was good. There wasn't anything special about it though. I'd recommend coming for a beer or two to stay within your parking timeframe. There was a QR code menu to order ramen from a business setup sort of like a food truck. The ramen was delish but extremely expensive and topped with a 20% gratuity regardless due to them bringing food to your table. I'm not sure if they are affiliated with the brewery or not so I won't hold that against the brewery.

Yelp
This is such a great place! The original Bearded Iris in Germantown is such a great brewery and it's a great place to visit that we love. We were hopeful that Sylvan Supply would be just as great and it definitely is! Sylvan Supply is a fantastic new venue and there's so many great restaurants nearby as well to compliment the excellent beer. The beer is still fantastic and the staff are so nice and helpful. We haven't tried the new Ramen place inside the brewery yet, but we're super excited that they have food on site now. Bearded Iris is one of the best breweries in Nashville and Sylvan Supply is a great expansion for them!

Yelp
Beautiful little bar with a little character. Dark on the inside but the patio is absolutely beautiful where you can sit on these benches around the perimeter with patio lights strung across. Adds a very calming vibe with dogs sitting with there owners. The bar is very dark which is a interesting vibe. I personally enjoy it. Nice and quite and good music. Would recommend for a cute little date or a dude date with the homies.

Yelp
Fun space, good beer. We enjoyed checking out the neighborhood as well. Wish we could have had ramen but MSG allergy said nope!

Yelp
Sweet Brewery with a great vibe and great beer too! Has a nice outdoor area with lights, a great, open space inside, and even an adjacent ramen restaurant that you can order food from directly from the brewery. We'll be back next time I'm in Nashville!

Yelp
Docking a star due to the expletive-filled music being played on our visit Sunday afternoon. While far from my musical taste, I wouldn't make an issue of the music if it was a Friday/Saturday night when children aren't present. However, on a Sunday afternoon it's uncomfortable and, honestly, unbecoming of this establishment to be playing music riddled with the n-word, f-bombs, etc. Management, I hope this comes as a surprise to you and I hope you address it. We're Bearded fans, but this Sunday afternoon was not a family-friendly atmosphere and, just my opinion, but some of those words shouldn't be playing in public at any time of day. Disappointing visit. We won't give up on Bearded, but if the same music's playing next time, we will. The table next to us made similar remarks, FYI.

Yelp
Some of the best hazy IPAs in the south are made right here at this brewery I love them I hope they make metal tin tackers I can hang in my garage one day

Yelp
A great spot in Sylvan Park. We've been a few times and they seem to rotate beers frequently which is great. The atmosphere is good and once it's warm enough for the patio that will add to it. The pho they serve there is amazing as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great beer! The flavor profiles leave many other breweries in Nashville in the dust. In some ways I'd love for this to remain a secret so that the tourists will never come...but for good businesses, I want to see them succeed. You won't go wrong.

Yelp
Always great beer and an awesome new spot in West Nash; Looking forward to Black Dynasty Ramen pairing soon. Will be back!

Yelp
Stopped in for the first time yesterday afternoon and sat at the bar. Overall good experience. Bartender was friendly and pretty attentive. He played some great music, 80's/90's mix. Good selection of beers, we had the Optimist Hella which the bartender recommended, it was delicious. The taproom is nice, definitely an Art Deco vibe which I found to be a little confusing as a taproom concept. It's more of a lounge feel for sure, but nicely done. Our only criticism would be the other bartender - kind of a mess. She literally ran her fingers through here hair before grabbing every glass to pour a beer, as well as tugging at her jeans/crotch continuously behind the bar. Quite distracting and unpleasant. Needless to say, we would not allow her to pour any of our beers after witnessing all that.
google avatar

Gracie G.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and plenty of seating. Was able to bring my 5 month old in and the atmosphere was great. There is also a great variety of beer, plus some other local options. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
the ramen was salty as hell and incredibly expensive, mediocre watered down pork broth. they couldnt even serve tap water to us, we had to go to the bar. the collard greens felt so out of place in the ramen, sour vinegar in tonkatsu dont blend well together. and how the hell is a 16 oz bowl $30 total. we were barely served and yet had to pay a gratuity tip. no shade to the workers but this place is not worth your time or money. they didnt even bother to spice the hellfire ramen, we were served a tiny chili oil sauce to add in ourselves, presentation was just not there. dont go here.

Yelp
Beer OK, "Secret Ramen"--big no...hip trans friendly crowd, but food sucketh....loud, no big pluses...won't be back....

Yelp
5 out of 5! I made this account to leave a review. I'm an old man and have been brewing for years. I came in last weekend to see the new opening and loved every beer I tried. I have been in Nashville for about 6 years and always had a preference for bearded iris. Company seems to care about the product and it was proven once again to me through the new building. They brew special beers for the newest brewery specifically. I have to say, the level of knowledge from one bartender specifically left me more than impressed. She knew beyond what I would have expected. I was able to chat for a bit about brewing including yeast strains, styles, hop varietals, and everything in between. I'm not sure why she isnt already brewing for the company, but it was quite refreshing to have a conversation with a knowledgeable individual who want just trying to sell the products but also able to speak more in depth. I believe her name is Nicki, but am not certain. Tall dark hair. Great service, great beer, even better to have a staff that can back the product.
